Hey Pete,

You mentioned on the podcast that you will not use the finger scan machines to get into the park. I am with you, in fact I started a thread about it some time ago and from the responses you would think I was a terrorist!!:rotfl2: But alas I care not what anybody thinks, I am not using them.

Question - I was under the impression that if you were an AP holder - you could not bypass them. This is one of the factors that keeps us from purchasing AP's. We just personally object to this kind information collection...

(SIDEBAR TO ALL YOU FLAME THROWERS...LOL NO NEED TO EXPLAIN TO ME THAT ITS NOT A FINGER PRINT SCAN OR ACCUSE ME OF HAVING SOMETHING TO HIDE..ETC.. THERE IS ALREADY A THREAD FOR THAT AND THIS THREAD IS NOT THE PLACE..I AM NOT DEBATING THIS ISSUE AND I FULLY SUPPORT YOUR RIGHT TO GIVE DISNEY WHATEVER INFO THEY GET FROM THE FINGER-SCANS THANKS:thumbsup2 )

So the question is... When you are an AP holder- can you still bypass the finger scan machine by simply presenting your Drivers License with your AP at the turnstyles?

Thanks and our family absolutley LOVES the podcast:thumbsup2

This has always been an option.

though we do use the finger scan, on occasion we've used our drivers license or passports instead of the scans and it's fine......though the CMs sometimes grumble and act nasty about it...but it depends on the CM....some of them are fine and friendly and don't make an issue of it...

by the way, i liked it much better when they took our pictures for the APs.....back then the AP was a much sturdier laminated card that had our picture on it....much better.... and more durable...

I've got to agree about the old AP's having your picture on them being a good thing. Too bad it took longer to process the ticket as I suspect that's why Disney changed from them.

But I'll disagree about the durability of the new tickets. I've yet to be able to destroy one of the new tickets.

We had nothing but problems with our APs this last trip. I don't remember one day that we either didn't have to go to guest services because we couldn't get fast passes or have the AP replaced entirely.

A CM at the desk said they went to paper instead of plastic because it was cheaper to replace them than to use the plastic.

We have had the same problems. I wish Disney would recognize the frustration factor. Even though you just have to go to guest services, the wait can be a real turn off. If I wasn't getting the $100 off as a DVC member, I would never get the annual pass again. :sad2:

I have been told repeatedly that proximity to your cell phone can mess up anything with a magnetic strip, so it probably is always my fault that I put my tickets and cell phone in my fanny pack and then have to replace all of the cards repeatedly.

And yet my credit card never suffers.... melts occasionally from overuse, but never demagnetizes. :rolleyes1

I've only had to replace one of the tyvek (paper) AP because of damage and not being able to get FastPasses.

Friends of ours have had to replace their plastic room keys daily because she kept it in her purse with her cell phone.

We usually are not asked to do the finger scan, as Mom is in a manual wheelchair, and I push. But we always show our DLs. On rare occasions a CM will have me use the finger scan.

i've had to replace two APs..
one didn't work in the FP machine and the other one getting in...

but we've had many many many many delays at the entry turnstile because of faulty entry machines....

and yes, that is VERY frustrating....
