Tag Book Swap!

Welcome! This is a swap for the tags to make a tag book.

Due date is September 24th. (This is when I need to receive your tags). I will be out of town from August 31 to September 9th at the World.

1. You choose your theme.
2. Required: You will make 2 tags. Please see below for tag size requirements. If you
need tags cut, please PM me and I’ll get them cut and sent out to you.
•Tags should be embellished.
•NO hand written lettering on ANY items. Please use computer
fonts, rub-ons, stickers or stamps.
•NOTE: Embellished means using brads, eyelets, charms, ribbon/fiber, 3D stickers
(matted stickers/cliparts are okay too) or embossing (dry/heat).
3. There will be only 6 people per group, so you can keep the production small per
group!
4. Special instructions:
• The tags will go horizontal for the book. (Tip of tag will face to
the left like we were opening a regular book)
• Use cardstock for the base of the tag and any patterned paper as an
embellishment.
• Tags will be 5”: SEE http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1490329
• No need to double mat the tags.
• On the front of the tag (w/ hole to left) will be embellished w/ your theme.
• On the back of the tag (w/ hole to the right) will be for a
photo or journal box.
• You will be embellishing both sides since it will be a book.
5. Packing Instructions - use a Ziploc for each person and put everything for that person into their bag. Please label each bag with your name so we know who made each kit. You‘ll have 6 bags to enclose in the larger (gallon size) Ziploc bag. - be sure to include your name, your DIS name. On the larger Ziploc bag please put your mailing address on your bag and include return postage.
6. Mailing Instructions- Mail in Priority Mailer & include $4.60 for postage (stamps, cash, check) to return your items. Delivery Confirmation is $0.65.
Please don’t send metered or click-it/ship-it postage – some hostesses have had issues with these. On the outside of your box/envelope please include your DIS name and Swap name in the bottom corner!
7. Please PM me with your address.

You really didn't need to open up a second group for me. I just didn't know if you would do repeats of a movie as long as it wasn't a repeated character. I should probably be doing only two groups anyway. Just leave me with Pluto and Tigger. At two tags for each of those characters, making 24 tags should be enough. Don't mean to be a pain and make your job tougher. Thanks.

Just want to ask...so we are doing two tags meaning 4 sides right? So if I do Mickey then it would have for example a mickey on one side and a photo box on the other side and then another tag with mickey in a different pose or something and journal box on the other side? And then it would be 12 tags per group?

Either way works. I have an Expression, so I can cut the 12 x 12, but I can also use the smaller pieces, if you have scraps you want to use up! :thumbsup2

1) Should we cut the tags on the Cricut? I have a Wishblade, but can borrow my friend's Cricut if it's easier.

I'm like way overanalyzing how they should be done...and get all upset..but most of all my bug is being a bugger!! I adjust the depth for patterned paper..and it didn't cut deep enough..so I need to go back down and fix that... I just hate when that happens! :(

I had that happen with some branches I was cutting. The first two sheets cut fine, but the third sheet didn't go through all the way. Same brand of paper, just different colors. I couldn't tell until I tried to take them off. Good think I have those cutter bees. Lots of snipping going on.

It says to embellish the tag and it also says that tag paper can be used to embellish. If I put a Mickey pattern paper on both sides over the card stock is that what is wanted or do I put the Mickey paper only on the back and another embellishment on the front.

Okay, I've finally gotten my 12 yo settled with school and alot of orthodontic hardware and my 18 yo twins off to college and I'm ready to PLAY!

Angelmom (who is doing the zoo swap with some of you) sent me her wishblade file for the tag based on the measurements in one of the threads. She had someone (probably one of you) send her a tag they had cut with the cricut and it was smaller than the one she made going from the measurements. So, she made and sent me another wishblade file for the smaller tag. Now I'm confused as to which tag to use: the one that matches the measurements or the one that matches the cricut tag? I don't want my tags to be too big or too small!

paulette I had the wrong dimensions for the tags so here are the new ones.

5 1/16 tall, 4 1/2 inches from the bottom of the tag to the bottom of the hole and 2 11/16 wide.
use the one that matches the cricut tag, I sent her that one.

Ok, here's my dumb question. Open? Like completely open? Because I thought about doing that, but then I wasn't sure if that was right. I didn't know if I should make a journal box to put on the other side or a photo mat, or if the receiver would just do that themselves. I have been wondering the same things. :confused: Thanks for asking. I have ordered some stickers and bought my paper for each of my characters. I have my tags now (thanks awm) but I am a little worried about embellishing. Anyone care to share a photo of a completed pair of tags? I was wanting to add some fiber or ribbon. I know we shouldn't put it in the hole for the tag but is anyone else adding ribbon elsewhere? Or should we skip the ribbon? I was planning to put a Mat on at least one side of the tags in a coordinating color for the character.

If you are wrapping the ribbon around one side, you can use the mat on the other to hide the ends. Same thing with brads. Use the mat to hide.

my elephant was a coloring page that I got from Queenie. I just scaled it down and copied on the cardstock and cut them out. Then I copied it again, cut out the face and used pop dots to give it dimension.
