View Full Version : I don't understand about "getting your post count up"

lexeka

What is that about? Someone said to come on here and wish people a 'happy birthday' in order to get your count up. I am SO confused!:confused3

To the left of your message there is a box that has your name and your post count. You have 4 posts. When you post then it adds to that number.

Plus, after you post so many your title changes. For instance, right now you are "Earning Your Ears" and when you have posted 75 messages you will be retitled "Mousekeeter", etc.

As you can see I'm not very good at running up the post count. After 6 years I don't even have 200. That's about 1 every other week I think.

You need 10 posts in order to post pictures.

Posting pictures is really easy. Here are the steps

1)Open a free account on photobucket

2)Upload the pictures you want to post from your computer to the photobucket account. This is really easy and quick.

3)Once the picture is in the photobucket account you can post it here on the disboards. Simply click on the picture in photobucket and on the bottom right of the screen there will be an option for posting on a message board. Just copy that and paste it into your post. You can also resize the image in photobucket if you want it to be smaller. There is a box on top of the picture that says resize. Just click on that and choose the size you want it to become. I mostly use the message board option when resizing my pictures.

That is it. It's simple!

Hope this clears things up!

Just to let you know what happens on the DIS from time to time, people will enter the word "bump" just so they will get a response to a thread that interest them. I didn't get that for a while but it helps when you are interested in something posted but have no comment.

Good thing to know. It's annoying to see people put in something completely irrevlevant to a thread to just get their post number up. I've read some threads where almost 1/2 of it has NOTHING to do with anything. It's a waste!

To the best of my knowledge (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong! :guilty: ) you need 10 posts to e-mail, PM or post pictures, 75 to become a Mouseketeer, :yay: and 500 :scared1: to become a DIS Veteran. Those are the only categories.

That is a graphic you can add to your signature if you are a member of the Wish Boards here on the DIS. The Wish boards are a place you can go if you are trying to lose weight/or stay healthy. You can find exercise challenges, support groups and recipes over there. That particular graphic you posted indicates that you are a member of the Wish Boards and that you have lost 15 pounds.

Thanks. That's nice. I think I'll make a goal to lose $15 before my June 2008 trip. I've already lost 30lbs after DS and DD were born. Could use just a little more.

The only reason I can see to get your post count up is so you can PM and post pictures and things like that. I never look at peoples titles unless they are changed to something else. I don't think it is a vanity thing for alot of us.

But the birthday board thing is a good idea. Go there and wish people happy birthday and you will get your post number higher to be able to do the other things that newbies can't do right away.

Lots of people probably know this, but I found a great way to boost my post count. There are tons of one-word game threads the Just for Fun/Games forum...I think I've just added about 15 to my posts VERY quickly! :woohoo: Mouseketeer, here I come...now if I could just get a Tag Fairy to notice me!

Okay is it just me or what! I cant find the Just for fun games forum. Where is it?

I was registered on the boards 2 years ago and then my computer crashed and I lost on my information. I couldn't remember my name or password so I had to start all over :confused3
same here.

Now my little brother (much younger :) ) has informed me that he registered YESTERDAY and is already to 245 posts...he's on the teen boards talking about Harry Potter, though.....too competitive in this house!!

Another fun way to get your post count up is to participate in the game threads. I like the "Disney World Snake - here we go again!!!" thread in Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies forum.

Some of you sure know a lot of people having birthdays to get your count up. Some counts really jumped from what your post says....so I guess I'll have to add my :bday: ...
Another good way is to welcome newbies....makes us feel welcomed. :welcome:

post counts can help in other ways too. For example I have noticed that those with extremely low post counts should be careful not to pick fights in non-debate boards- or may be labeled a "troll"

Also, if you even become interested in renting DVC points, renters prefer to rent to those who have been a part of the community for a little while. And can review all your previous posts (to see that they are more than just "post" builders, but people who are contributing to the boards, asking questions, answering questions, etc. Although since the DIS is an open board and its HUGE now compared to a number of years ago.

Welcome to those that are just joining the DIS

How can you review all of someone's previous posts??

If you click on the name of the person you will see a drop down list, giving you options like pm'ing the person and "find all of goofypooh's posts"
