Because in the original, the songs were just songs. They weren't supposed to be singing them, just listening or not hearing them at all, as the case may be.

Me and my friend who is obsessed with the new hairspray were watching it and we stopped and watched behind the scene things from the new hairspray. it was boring and the acting was bad.

Really? I love the old one. I wouldn't see the new one, despite it's good older cast. I'm really not a fan of remakes.

We're obviously all entitled to our own opinion but the acting couldn't be that bad; the movie seriously launched careers. But, to each their own.

I didn't like it I thought it was really bad, but the person who played Link in that movie looked alot like Elvis!
