I have been planning my trip since September of 2006, paying for it since January of 2007 and talking about it since February. And I don’t go until the end of November. My co-workers, friends, and family are pretty much ready to kill me. Happy for me, but ready to kill me. Everyday I go on the Disboards to read about Disney. I also check out my Google page just to check out my countdown. As if I don’t know how far away my trip is. (118 days, 19 hours and 30 minutes while I’m typing this  ). I’m nuts, I know. I just can’t wait to go. :cheer2: But I was just wondering, AM I THE ONLY ONE LIKE THIS??? Are there any other people who are obsessing like I am?

I've been planning my October 2008 trip for awhile. I'm pretty much obsessed with it. Wife thinks I've lost my mind when it comes to WDW.

My family of four has been going to WDW every year for 10 years now. In 2000, we went three times. We love, love, love WDW! We just can't get enough of it.
I started planning our June, 2008 trip while driving home from our June, 2007 trip. Our drive is over 14 hours so we had plenty of time to talk about where we wanted to stay, what we wanted to do next time, where we wanted to eat, etc. etc. etc.
I have been calling Disney reservations every day to find out when the 2008 rates will be out. I finally became afraid that I wouldn't get the resort we wanted so I went ahead and booked a room only reservation knowing good and well I'm going to have to change it over to a package when the rates come out.
If somewhere during the day, I don't actually speak to someone about WDW, I am definitely thinking about WDW. I check the boards daily. I check the WDW website daily. I check out allearsnet daily.
Everybody knows we go every year so they always turn to me for WDW advise and guidance. I've even written my own guidebook to pass along to friends and family.
I always have people asking how can you go somewhere over and over and over again. I tell them that WDW is like Lay's potato chips except in this case "you can't go just once". I tell them that every time we go there is something new to see and do.
Our stays are always 10 days long and we still don't want to come home.
So.....in conclusion.....you aren't the only one! There are lots of others out there just like you.....including me!

and it will also be to celebrate my freedom from my ex... in a year from now, the divorce will be final and I'll be free of the family ha! ha! Youppi!!! and I'm turning 40 in Sept 08 also... so an other reason to celebrate!!!

So I am not alone.
Justdoip -- Just imagine if your wife was as bad as you, you guys would be going multiple times a year and then you would be broke.
Jill2150 -- You're so good for keeping your craziness inside. I wish I could do that. Hey, April '08 is just around the corner.
Mikeystoontown -- I love the fact that you are planning your trip with your family. That is so sweet! My co-worker is just like you. Everybody goes to her for advice when they are going to WDW.
nextidiot -- I'm sorry that your plans keep falling through. I hope everybody is feeling better. My plans fell through as far as who was supposed to go with me, which is why I am going by myself.
chevynat -- Congrats on all the good things in 2008. I'm going to go for a long weekend in October of 2008 also. Never been there for Halloween.

I am so happy that I have found a place that understands me. Understands my absolute love of Walt Disney World and everything Disney!
My husband knew when he married me  that he got me AND Walt Disney World! We came as a package deal!! He totally understands my NEED to visit WDW at least 2x per year (if not more) and will listen to my constant WDW talk. He said to me yesterday,"I would love to vacation in Hawaii!" And my response was: "Honey?? There is NO WDW in Hawaii!!!" (Just an FYI:I would go to Hawaii if he really wanted to go.) But I am super glad that I have a place where there are others who share my love for the Mouse and everything Disney. :) (Plus I have gotten awesome tips from the folks here!! Really good information!)

I have been lurking for about 2 months but this is why I finally registered. I had to be with like minded people:goodvibes Although my dh is very excited he doesnt need to know every teeny little detail but his family who is meeting us there have never been and have no clue. I was trying to get every one together for one of the meals so I could make adr and my bil says cant we decide when we get there?:scared1: I really got tired of harrassing every one so just about all our ressies are for me, dh, and dss. My mil said how do I know what I will be doing in 3 months and I said well exactly that is why you make plans, so you know:sad2:

I am a little crazy too-I have been planning and reading for a few months but we are coming from Australia and booked our tickets a couple of weeks ago and ever since I have been thinking of nothing else. We are going next April. I have actually had to stop talking to dh so much about it because I am driving him nuts.:rotfl: My theory is that the planning is a huge part of the fun!

2005 was my first trip to Disney World and I obsessed for a year beforehand. I got really serious with the obsessing about three months before leaving. I have been obsessing over our next trip ever since we got back, and we aren't going until August 2008! Now that I'm truly only 12 months away the obsessing is reaching a frenzied point.
I can only see it getting worse from here. You are in very good company :grouphug:

Christmas is fun in WDW. We went last Christmas...my 3rd trip, DH's 10th or so trip, and DS's first trip ever. DH picks on me all the time for my obsession with vacation planning. He sees me making lists of what to pack, making itineraries of what we'll do, obsessing over where to make dining reservations, and now that I've found this board checking it everyday. Now when I'm sitting here at the computer and say his name he'll say ok what did you read on the DIS board today :rotfl:
We were planning to skip this year and plan a longer vacation next March for a combination my birthday/our anniversary trip. But that fell through so I insisted we had to go this October to celebrate DS's birthday...he turns 2 a couple days before we leave for WDW. I had never been to WDW when I met DH 8 years ago. He was horrified to discover I'd never been and a month after we started dating he told me to get a week off at work because he was taking me to WDW in a couple months. I thought he was teasing. Not only did we go but we have a pretty awesome engagement story thanks to that trip. We went again for our honeymoon in 2001 and then didn't manage to make it back until last December after joining the DVC last spring. As much as I love WDW I didn't realize just how much I loved it and how amazing a place it was until I saw it through my son's eyes last December. We're definately raising another WDW addict and even at the age of not quite 2 he seems to understand that we're going back to see Mou Mou ::MickeyMo soon and almost every day he points to the front door and tells us "go see Mou Mou?" I'll be spending the next couple months telling him not today but soon. :yay:

Well if this is a club, I am joining. There is nothing better than planning the next trip to WDW. I just booked our 3rd trip for this year in December. Actually that will make 4 trips in just over a year, since we went last December. All I think about is Disney. It keeps my mind busy and off other problems in my life. Disney is very theraputic and all doctors should prescribe it to their patients.
My DH and my mom have decided it is easier to live life this way. They get just as much enjoyment out of it as I do. We don't have children, so we have Disney and furbabies.
I have decided that I will have to wait a year for my next long trip though.

You are surely not alone. I have been planning our family trip - june '08 - since my trip in july '06 with my DD. I can't seem to talk about anything else. I read the DIS everyday. At night I stay up and sew matching outfits for my kids. My husband thinls I'm out of my mind -he's never been to WDW. My mother thinks I have done overkill, although she admits that I plan really well and that maybe I should be a travel agent. I just get soooo excited about WDW!!!!

How can I be this obsessed without actually experiencing WDW? :confused3 This all started with a promise to then DD4 that I would take her to see Ariel and Mickey. The next year I had to explain to her that we would have to wait a few more years because she was about to become a big sister.
Fast forward to summer 2006. DD9 informs DD4 that we are going to disney in January 2008. How can she remember that, but not remember to pick up her clothes!!! :headache: OK , so now I'm committed to the trip. No big deal, just another theme park, right?:rotfl: Book airfare, hotel and admission and that's it, all set. So I decide to buy a guidebook for a few tips.
Fast forward to July 2008. Asked a question on guidebooks site and was referred here by a helpful DISer and now I'm hooked.(Thanks a lot missypie!!;) )
So here I am, DISing (OK, lurking) everyday, ADR's set, trading pins in the mail, alien green Mickey paint chips liberated from every Home Depot I enter. I even know what Moleskin is now.:rotfl2:
MY GOD!! What will I be like after I have been there?:scared1:

We're just as bad in my house! DH and I went last month for 5 days sans children. We go back in 115 days with kids and my parents. We both read the Disboards, plus i also read the passporter threads. I got 2 new DW books in the mail yesterday, the PP Treasure Hunts and the Ultimate Guide to Disney, gorgeous book! We are DVC so I also check the site daily to see if we got our waitlist to BCV, fell in love with it last month and with my 2 parents who are over 60, one with a hip replacement and other health issues, want to be close to their favorite park. We also have several Disney shows on the TIVO so we watch those a lot as well.

You're not the only one. We went for our first family vacation last October and can't wait to get down again for October 2008 :woohoo:! MNSSHP here we come!
I've been waiting for the new rates to come out so we can start setting aside the money for DH's room ressie. He attends a conference that is at Disney every other year and of course, it will be back next year !
Now that the rates are finally out, I'm going balistic with trying to tack on our vacation the day his conference ends. However, this time, we want to treat my mom and have her come with us. She hasn't been down since 1993.
I'm wondering how long it will take before DH gets tired of me talking about it :rolleyes1 But then again, he may finally enjoy doing this. At least right now he is and would like to sit down together and plan this out. He even suggested surprising my mom with the information for her birthday in February so she has time to start saving up her "Slush" fund.

I have been thinking Disney 24/7 since June. My mom has been showing my kids the disney video for a year now and we have finally decided to get the ball rolling for our Big Family Trip. Now I'm not the most decisive person to begin with and I like to weigh every possible option, so just figuring out the dates and where we will stay has taken a vast amount of my time. I have finally found dates that work for all members of our trip (I’m crossing my fingers ~ June of 2008) Now I have 11mos to obsess! By the way I still haven’t decided where to stay yet?
My Brain has been going nonstop about this decision:
maybe CSR or POFQ
maybe PopCentury
maybe rent from a DVC owner
hmmmmm AKV savannah view would be nice – uh well maybe save a little $ with the standard view.
Then again if I could find a CSR who wants to get rid of their points that pool is awesome
OKW is pretty too
Do I buy at $13 a point or hold out for $11
All of these decisions to make and so much info to be found!

You are in the right place. :)
We booked for September 2007 in Dec. 2006 (on the bounceback plan) and I had me alarm set on my cell phone for 180 days so I could make ADR's.
For the November trip (a last minute thing sort of since I booked it about a month ago when DH said it was OK) I had the cell phone alarm set for when I could book ADR's, when I could book the Candlelight Processional, and it is still set for when I can book Lunch with an Imagineer.
We're all OCD here when it comes to our Disney trips!

I don't know who's more excited about our upcoming trip in October...me or my DS who will turn 2 a couple days before we leave. If I ask him if he's excited about going to see Mou Mou (Mickey) he starts dancing, squeeling, giggling, and will sometimes run to the front door yelling "go go go"! If I ask him what he wants for his birthday he tells me "kiss Mou Mou". Not even 2 yet and already addicted to Disney.:thumbsup2 I almost always go to the princess meals because I've always liked the princesses. So we never miss a meal at CRT and this time also booked the princess breakfast in Norway. Now I have to book them because my DS is a HUGE flirt and loves the princesses too:rotfl: We have a great picture of him with Mickey but the only pictures he had great big smiles in were the ones with the princesses. My father got a big kick out of that.
I'd love to be able to pack way in advance but usually only get the kiddo's summer clothes packed in advance and the rest I have to do the week before. This year I get the joy of packing for vacation AND planning/prepping for/throwing a birthday party. Thankfully I convinced DH to have the party somewhere else so I don't have to worry about cleaning before and after the party and dealing with a party while my house is cluttered with packed and half packed suitcases. No surprise to anyone that the theme of the birthday party is Mickey...complete with Mickey ear headbands instead of the typical party hats.::MickeyMo
For some reason DH never gets excited before the trip...probably because he hates to pack and we drive down now and I know he doesn't look forward to the 3 day trip to get down there. But once we're there he has fun and I think he's excited that DS is less timid than he was last year and will be up for more rides. DH is looking forward to taking him on the Pooh ride and DS has already asked about the horsey ride (Cinderella's carousel). How can he possibly remember we rode that several times because he loved it so much? He was only 14 months old when he was on that!
How many posts do you have to have before it lets you post pictures? I wanted to post the cute picture of DS with Mickey but it still won't let me.

:rotfl2:
You are so cute. I used to be blonde, I know your pain! :) I don't have a dh or any little "d"s. Heck, I don't even have a dbf. But I'm hoping that someday, when I do have the dh/dbf, he is as big of a fan of Mickey as I am. And he better not make me choose between him and Mickey, because that is one thing I will refuse to do.

Mystery solved...turns out DH has been showing the kiddo slide shows on the computer. So he's been seeing pictures of our vacation last December several of which are him on the carousel he loved so much. No wonder he keeps mentioning it.

:cool1: I became hooked in June, 2002 (WDW) when I decided that my little family should go. The following year we had my brother's family of 4 go with us in June 2003. :thumbsup2 Finally in June 2006 we had my sister's family of 3 along with brother's family of 4 for another trip. :yay: NOW!!!......we are planning a trip in June 2008. Already booked our room at the AKL. 4 in my family, 4 in my brother's, 3 in my sister's and we have our cousin and her family of 3. I'm slowing working on the whole world going to enjoy the Magic of Disney World one family at a time.

My inlaws are trying to organize a big family Disney cruise. Between DH's immediate family, his brother in law's family, and some cousins and their families I believe we're up to about 30 people planning on going and more interested in going but not committed to it yet.

Sounds fun, my inlaws used to organize family vacations like that and we always had a blast the last one was at a Resort in the Keys. It's great to just relax and here old stories (especially the ones about DH). It's too bad my inlaws don't like Disney. I've been trying to talk them into a Family Disney Trip like the one your inlaws are planning, but no can do.

Like everyone else I am happy to have found a site where I can obsess about WDW and not offend or worry about people thinking that I have never grown up. Who wants to grow up if it means sacrificing trips to WDW!
I skipped twenty years between visits once but since then I have gone much more often. The last two times friends were suppose to go with us but they couldn't put the money aside to go so we, me and my DS, went alone and had a great time. Last year we went on a land/sea package and I made reservations in May of '05 and paid monthly on the vacation until time to go in August '06. I read DIS every day (:disrocks: ), bought two guide books, went onto the Disney resort site, subscribed to allearsnet.com and mousesavers.com newsletters. I just planned our DL-P one-day visit in June '07 and am now planning on a magical gathering for the summer of '09. It's a never ending cycle!:rotfl2:

My solo trip in November was supposed to be with some of my family. That didn't quite work out. They decided to wait until next year. I just couldn't. Now that I am all grown up, and went many years without vacations, I am going to go away every year from now on. I am going to start looking at the Disney Cruise for 2009. I know my one of cousins wants to go on the cruise with their children. My other cousin and their kids are going to Disney this month for the first time for all of them. :wizard: If I could get all of my relatives to go on the Cruise that would be awesome. It's a shame I don't have any brothers or sisters. (Pretty soon I'm gonna start hearing "We are friends of the friendless, yes we are, yes we are." :happytv: )

Ok one moment I was elated, you might say I was on cloud 9, :cloud9: and the next moment I am back to square one. :sad2: DH and I had finally made our decision on where to stay. We decided to rent through a DVC owner at AKV. We found a renter who called me and said that she had made the reservations for us for June 2008. What a wonderful moment that was. I printed off pictures of AKV and showed DD and DS. Heard “Wow mama will we really see giraffe and zebra?”
Then when I got home there was an email from the owner saying she had some bad news and the reservation didn’t go through! Uggghhhhh,. She said that the computer was only allowing 7months out (but she did say that AKV was her home so she should be able to book 11 months out) so now I don’t know what’s going on. I just hope she calls or emails back that MS called and said it was their computer problem and of course you can have your reservation.
If this doesn’t go through I’m back to square one with trying to find :sail:someone who has AKV points at the right price and with payment options I like. Or maybe we will stay at the Coronado or the POP. Just when I thought it was time to look up all the fun Disney stuff, it’s back to hotel insanity!!!:scared1:

I defintely think that disney maina is inherited. My ds4 climbs his swingset everyday and proudly proclaims he's driving to WDW. He's never been before but he'll tell anyone that will listen to him that he's going there to meet the little mermaid and take his picture with her. It's no wonder he is so involved with everything disney, I spend all my time looking here and on other disney sites.:rotfl:

Thanks. I had read about renting on www.mousesaver.com and just kept looking into it and found that if I wanted to stay at a moderate or deluxe Disney Hotel it was a good buy. I made excel charts of every possible option that I could find. We decided to splurge a little. You do have to be somewhat trusting of others with renting but there are some percautions you can take. I ended up paying $11 a point. We are using 200 points for a 2 Bedroom Savannah View at AKV. It sleeps 9 and so far we are 3 adults and 2 children. We may add 3 more adult family members which would save us a little more even. This will definitely be our BIG Family Vacation. I'm trying to wean myself from the DIS site a little, but when I have spare time I love to get on here.

First TANYA90210- I took the quiz. I'm an Alice.
I couldn't figure out how to get the codepaste to work into my signature though. Any tips?
Everyone else. I knew I loved this site! And, I love this thread.
I too, am driving DH nuts. I didn't start planning until a few months ago (we go in November) but only b/c I didn't know we had the option until then.
We weren't planning on a vacation, but work is sending me to Orlando the same week that my daycare provider is on vacation, and DH would have to take his very limited time off to stay home with DS. So, we figured what-the-heck.
That was June, now its August, I'm more than a regular on the board, I can't stop thinking about Disney, I hit several other WDW related sites each day and I'm already starting to wonder when we can go back... BACK! We haven't even left yet!!! :rotfl2:
BTW - Is it November yet!?!?! :lmao: I'm so excited. And just as nuts as the rest of you. I mean that in the best possible way!
PS - I'm also growing rather fond of these little smiley buddies that are so easy to paste in. :rolleyes1

I think you might have to register on quizilla to copy the code. I tried just saving the picture and putting it on. But, one way the file was too big and the other way, it was unreadable. I just deleted it, I'll figure it out later.
I was Alice. And, it fits me too.
Anyway, I think I've just proved my craziness considering that I'm up late, I'm not feeling well, I finally have some downtime b/c DS is sleeping and DH is hanging with friends, and I kill 30 minutes trying to paste an Alice into my signature on a Disney board! I've truly gone bananas.

We must have been posting at the same time. I just re-checked and saw this post. Yep, I'm thinking you are right about the problem. I suppose it goes to show One should never drink from tiny unlabeled bottles, even if they do say "Drink Me." (Except maybe on airplanes. On occasion, I've found those tiny bottles quite nice.) :rotfl2:

Posting the pic was no problem. I think the photo will be the easy part. Just went to Quick Links, Edit Signature. At the bottom, there is a browse button for adding images, just like in e-mail. Browse your computer, find your pic, click save.
I'm NOT particularly good with computers. If someone was paying me, I'd still be impatient and no good... but at least I'd have more $ to spend on my vacation! If this obsession keeps up, I'm going to have to get a second job to support my WDW habit. :lmao:

Sure I don't mind. This is how it broke down: Us My Mom
savanah at $11 a pt and 2.9% with paypal $1,131.90 $1,131.90
(My mom and our family of 4 are going 50/50)
This does not include tickets ~ Tickets are: $1,376.00 $312.00
This also does not include DDP ~ DDP is: $609.74 $227.94
Coming to a Grand Total of: $3,117.64 $1,671.84
(I hope you could make that out it didn't quite come out as I wrote it~ The first dollar amount is our half the second amount is my Mom's half.)
Now my Aunt and 2 of her teenage boys might be coming so then it would cut our cost and my mom's cost down by about $377.
I can't remember if I said that this is for 5 nights and 6 days at the parks. The room is costing us less than the tickets!

We went to the beach and had a great time. DS is 2 1/2, and he's been to the ocean once, but it was when he was only a few weeks old. We weren't sure how he'd react, but he loved the sand and the waves. Brave little thing kept leading me out deeper and deeper until he was up to his chest. We had to cut things short b/c of the rain, but an hour or 2 was probably enough excitement anyway.
Have fun in PA!

I'm sorry the weather did not work out for you. We may have the same problem on Friday. I love to see children's reactions on the beach. The first time my little cousin (who is now almost 11) went to the beach, she couldn't figure out how to walk in the sand. She was not to thrilled with the "sinking in" feeling her tooties were getting. Eventually she got used to it and had a blast.
