My wife and I just returned from an adults-only trip to the Wilderness Lodge. I’ll include a quick sketch of the trip, as well as a few pictures here and there.

Magical Express (arrival)
We landed at MCO via SWA. We arrived at the gate at around 2:30 PM; we walked into the WL lobby at 3:30 PM. It probably would have been faster, but one family showed up just before we were ready to pull away. The driver waited for them and it took a while to load their bags.

Wilderness Lodge
Check-in was very quick, probably less than 10 minutes. We had booked a woods view room with requests for a king-size bed and a non-accessible bath. Not only did we get our requests, we were also upgraded to courtyard view. We were in room 4037; it is located directly above Artist Point’s outside seating area.

A wonderful view

The room was clean and well maintained. The ceiling fan was nice to keep air flowing through the room. The air conditioning worked perfectly.

Nice high definition TV, but no HD signal!

The bathroom was on the smallish size, but the last room we had at the WL was the honeymoon suite. It had a really big bathroom. The auto fan in the bathroom is annoying; it even worked in the dark!

Parks
The parks were not nearly as busy as I thought they would be. We went to MK the night of our arrival. I think we got to the park at 5:30 PM. We had an ADR at Narcoossee’s for 8:15 PM, so we had to watch the time. We were able to do Laugh Floor, Stitch’s Escape and Buzz Lightyear by 7 PM. We then headed over to POTC; the stand by line was 10 minutes. We rode POTC, headed for the exit, and boarded the monorail for the GF. We arrived at Narcoossee’s at about 8 PM.

This scenario played itself out through the week. We were able to get a lot done at each park. The longest stand by line we waited in was Mission Space; it was 60 minutes. Space Mountain also was nearly 60 minutes. We were able to effectively use Fast Pass for other attractions.

Food
I’ll write up a dining report on the dining board, but here’s a brief overview.

Narcoossee’s (Sunday): Great as usual and wonderful service.

Mama Melrose’s (Monday): We were scared about this one. I read a lot of negative reviews, but we really liked our food. We did the Fantasmic package; what a great show!

Whispering Canyon Café (Tuesday): We always enjoy WCC, and this time was no exception. It seemed a little quieter than normal, but there were more than a few empty tables.

Liberty Tree Tavern (Wednesday): The food here is average at best, but we like to see the characters and enjoy the atmosphere. The bread is great, but the macaroni and cheese is just yucky Stouffer’s frozen variety.

Victoria & Albert’s (Thursday): Wow! Unbelievable. Much more on this later.

You can't tell in this picture, but we were tipsy from the wine pairing

Le Cellier (Friday): As usual, it was packed. We were seated after a wait of only about three minutes. The food was excellent. We both tried the chocolate “moose;” it was really good.

Water Parks
We made it to Blizzard Beach on Tuesday. We got there just as it opened for EMH, so we didn’t have any trouble finding a chair. The first thing we did was head for Cross Country Creek. We didn’t see another soul the entire way around. It was very restful and romantic. We only stayed until 11 AM; by that time BB was at capacity and it was really hot.

Pleasure Island
Because we didn’t have the kids on this trip, we were able to give PI a try. We went to the Comedy Warehouse, and it was fun. The humor was very clean. I prefer my comedy a little edgier, but I understand that this is Disney.

Recreation
We rented a surrey bike and rode from WL to FW. At FW we visited the horses and watched the blacksmith shoe a horse.

On Friday we played a round of golf a Winter Summerland; we selected the sand course. It was really hot, but fun.

Poor Santa; you have to putt the ball over his belly

Magical Express (departure)
The bus arrived at 12:10 PM, about 5 minutes late. We stopped at Poly and GF on the way out. The trip to the airport was uneventful. We had plenty of time to make it to our gate. Unfortunately, weather kept us from departing. The delay ended up being 2.5 hours, including 45 minutes on the tarmac with the engines off. Nice.

I'll let you know when I post the dining review.
