On June 25th I pulled my old Walk Away the Pounds videos out, dusted them off ;) and put the 1 mile in the DVD player. I made it through it that first day but it was so, so, so hard. I was out of shape and I really struggled. I kept with it and alternating with walks outside and on the treadmill I did the 1 mile video 3-4 times a week. About 2 weeks ago I started doing the 1 mile with the weights to really push myself further.
Tonight I put in the 2 mile walk and I DID IT!!! :cool1: Now I didn't use the weights yet but I made it the whole way through and while it did push me harder than the 1 mile it was not even nearly as hard as starting the 1 mile was just a little over a month ago. It is really amazing to me how fast our bodies respond to exercise. The amount of improvement I have made in a little over a month is nothing short of miraculous.
I just wanted to share so that anyone else who thinks they can't exercise can see that it can be done. If I can do it really anyone can. Two months ago my idea of exercise was strolling from the couch to the frig. This month alone I have over 1200 minutes of exercise under my belt (which is rapidly shrinking ;)). I can't say yet that I love to exercise but I don't dread it like I used to - at least not on most days.

That is great!! I do several of Leslie's workouts and it took me time to build up but can do her 5 mile advance walk now. Keep at it!

I would love to work my way up to those 4/5 mile walks. I am actually looking foward to them. I am going to stick with the 2 mile for a while. I figure I will give myself at least 2 months with the 2 mile (and adding weights) before I push myself to the 3 mile. I don't want to go too fast and risk getting injured.

How wonerful. It doesn't take long to build up to it with those. :)
:thumbsup2
I need to get my butt up and moving with them. I have the 3 mile and will probably need to work back up to it.
I'd also like to start walking on the 5K plan and then build up to actually doing the jogging/running portion but until I get some endurance and some weight off I totally need to stick to walking so I don't injure myself.

That is great, Becka! Perseverence really pays off and what a wonderful accomplishment. Keep up the great work.
Becka, I have always been curious about these tapes as so many in the past have talked about them. Can you tell me about them?

Basically WATP is aerobics for the uncoordinated. ;)
Leslie is very upbeat (sometimes a little bit too much) but her routines are very easy to do the first time and you really can break a sweat while doing them especially if you add weights. As with everything the more you put into it the more you will get out of it. There are basically 4 moves: walking in place, side steps, kicks and knee lifts. She mixes them up with different arm movements. I think Leslies' site www.lesliesansone.com has some streaming video of some of the videos you can check out.

Thanks, I will check it out. Maybe they have them at Blockbuster and I can give them a whirl for something different.

I love her videos! I purchased the 5 mile a couple of months ago and love it. You don't have to do the whole 5 miles at once the DVD has options for different workouts. I got mine at Target for 29 and it included three "walk boosters" the soft hand weights, ab belt and the stretchie. It was a great deal. You can also preview a lot of her workouts at collagevideo.com
