Points and Reservations Changes

I just joined DVC (185 at AKV) a week ago, so I'm still getting the hang of the points system.

I booked six nights in two 2-bedroom villas at AKV in February. 1 is value and 1 is savanna view. I'm using all of my developer points and all but seven of my 2007 points. My use year is Sept.

There is a possibility that a few of the group won't be able to go. In that case, I would want to switch my value room to a 1-bedroom if there is one available. This would save me 67 points.

If I do this it would not be a last minute thing. So assuming I made the change this fall, the 67 points would go back into my stock of 2007 points.

My question is this: Would I be able to bank those 67 points into 2008 or I have to use them up in 2007?

Also, if I want to bank 2007 points into 2008, I would need to do it by March 31, yes? (Since I have a Sept UY).

Yes they can be banked as long as you meet the deadline and they are 2007 points. With a September use year, you have until May 31 to bank 50% of your points and June 30 for 25%. March 31 is for 100% of your points but since you are using many of your 2007 points, that date doesn't matter as much as May 31.

Also, just so I get all this straight--what if I had borrowed a few 2008 points for the reservation? Let's say I needed 10 of my 2008 points. When I changed it and got the 67 points back, do I need to specify that I want the 2007 points back so that I could then bank them into 2008? If I had to get the 2008 points back they wouldn't be bankable, right? Because once they are borrowed they can't then be banked.

With a Sep UY, your banking deadlines are February 28/29 (up to 100% of your points), May 31 (up to 50% of your points) and June 30 (up to 25% of your points). If you borrowed any points for the reservation, MS should return only current Use Year points to your account but you should remind the CM about that when you call. You are correct that any points you borrowed cannot be put back in their original UY. They must be used within the UY into which they were borrowed.

Sorry. Lisa's dates are correct. I must have mis-counted my fingers. It is February for 100% not March. And I have a September use year!!! Good thing we're always in a state of borrowing.;) Thanks for catching it Lisa.

Great idea but only if I'd use it. I actually had the DVC Vacation Planner sitting right next to me as I was typing away.
