Mary & Dan's TR- WP/BW 6/22/07-Getting ready

Hi everyone I am back and married! It has been a little over a month and I have been waiting for my pro photos but I thought I would start anyway.
My wedding and the weeks leading up to it were better than I could have even imagined. Everything was perfect and the Disney staff and our vendors went above and beyond to make our wedding perfect. my only disappointment is that it all went sooo quickly!:confused3

June 10, 2007-07-11

Chapter 1: “The Beginning”

When the alarm rang at 3am I was barely cohesive. I though “What the heck is going on?”- Oh wait it was 2 weeks before my wedding and today was the day I get to begin my trip to Orlando. Woohoo-I sprung out of bed and Dan awoke with no coaxing. The car was already packed (and I mean packed like a sardine) from the night before. So around 4am we get in the car and off we go.

Dan is in the mood for Disney- unfortunately this is only one of two times I could get him to wear the hat!

We stopped in South Carolina for the night and on Monday early in the morning made our way to Florida.

Chapter 1 continued…
“Ok this Florida but it ain’t Disney folks!”

Monday around 1pm we had finally made to Florida…wooohooo! We had to the new Vistana Villages to check in. When we got there we checked in, the girl said oh you have a great new building. Yeah sure- well we go over there and needless to say the building was literally on a construction site. OK not happy but whatever we will deal with it for 2 nights. We head to the elevator (my brother is in a wheelchair so you imagine this is necessary) and the elevator does not work. So we drive back to the registration area and re-register. Well the next room is not ready. I knew it wasn’t 3 o’clock yet so I really couldn’t complain but after driving for 8 hours I really just wanted to get to the room. We looked for a place to eat and there was only one- the pool bar/ café. Ok just Caesar salads for us lol!

Dan is always happy but my brother like me is can be a bit skeptical!

We hung out at the pool and then finally around 4pm got to check in. They were supposed to call our cell when the room was ready but they never did so we decided just to go and see if the room was ready. When we got to the room I will say it was a very nice 2 bedroom but all the hassle wasn’t worth the $200 we saved imo.

At 8pm we had reservations for Emeril’s Tchoup tchoup. So we headed over to Universal’s Royal Pacific Hotel. I must say it was a really beautiful resort and we were really impressed. Still that “something” Disney possesses as a whole resort was missing but we really loved the resort.

my brother wanted a pic in front of it. He was so excited to get to try an Emeril’s restaurant. Dan and I had tried the other one at universal and we really liked it. It didn’t WOW us but we liked it enough so we decided to give this one a try and Steve was just ecstatic.

Once we got inside I was blown away. The place is just beautiful. It is meticoulously designed and I would say one of the best designed places I have been to.

I have to say it was one of the best meals I have had. Although people do not usually associate Emeril with Asian food I say if you like that type of cuisine this is a must –do! The drinks were great as well!

The next day we went to Sea World. We had a great time, it has been a while since any of us had been there so that was nice.

We were desperately craving some Disney but and we had no Dinners plans. So on a whim Dan called WDW dining and we were able to get an 8pm ressie for Boma- YUM YUM! Then the sad part was leaving the AKL to go back to the Vistana. The only thing that made me happy was knowing the next day we would be checking into the Boardwalk!

Up next in chapter two- And the magic begin….We finally arrive in Disney!

Chapter 2…
“Ahhh the pearly gates”

So finally we managed to pack everything back up and shove it into my mother’s minivan. Now we did not do this with precision because we knew we would not be driving so far this time!

ahhh there is nothing like the site of those gates after a long journey!

We arrived at the Boardwalk and checked in. Originally we had booked the first few nights in a standard and then the last few in the garden suite. No we didn’t get upgraded to a garden suite for the whole trip because apparently they were solid booked lol but we did get a very beautiful room overlooking the garden. It was great because we were right down the hall from the lounge and a 2 min walk to the pool.

Our beautiful and quiet view – and I mean quiet. I have never stayed in such a quiet Disney resort. I didn’t even know there were people there at some times. It was so relaxing which for us is an unusual Disney experience. Usually we stay at AKL or WL which are beautiful resorts but always bustling. We just loved the Boardwalk! That night we ate dinner at Brown Derby and I must say it was fantastic. I have rediscovered this place. I had a Salmon dish over creamy polenta that was so yummy! We all loved the Brown Derby plus just walking through MGM at night is always so nice.

The next day we just hung out at Downtown Disney and did a ton of shopping. We had lunch at Fulton’s which used to be a family tradition but I have to say we were a bit disappointed. Plus an employee was being arrested as we ate lunch! I have to say it was a weird day in DTD. After more shopping we left and we saw a guy in the process of trying to steal a car and the police approaching him. I have never experienced these things at Disney before so I was a bit shocked- but I did grow in nyc so I wasn’t that shocked lol.

That night we had ressies at Jiko. This is place is tied with California grill as my favorite Disney restaurant!

We started with the Kenyan BBQ chicken flatbread and the tomato and cucumber salad with watermelon vinaigrette. We had a wonderful pinotage but I forget the name. Followed by……

Chapter 2…
“7 days and counting”

On Friday we decided we would go to the Magic Kingdom in the morning and then take a break and go back to the hotel and relax in the evening. We had ressies for Citricos at 7:00pm. Early in the morning we head over to MK and we had decided to do Crystal Palace character breakfast. Now let me just add in the fact that when we were making plans for this both my brother and Dan where not to into this. They didn’t mind the character thing but well let’s just say Winnie the Pooh is not their favorite! Still I made the ressie because it was just most convenient and we hadn’t been there since we were kids!

The new show at the castle- I forget the name but I wasn’t a fan. I guess I am acheese ball because I really liked cinderellabration!

We head over to crystal palace and waited only a few minutes for our table. We were great with a “congratulations” and cute decorations on the table. I guess the girl who made our ADR made a note!

So in the end we all had a good time and the guys not wanting to admit it loved it! The food was great! After that we hung out in MK for the day and rode some of the obligatory rides. Around 5pm we head back to the BW to shower and change for Citricos.

That evening we had dinner at Citricos which was a bit disappointing. Now I will say I have eaten here before and loved it but this time it was just so-so!

The next day (Saturday June 16…6 days and counting) we had scheduled a park free day. Tomorrow was Sunday and that was when a lot of our family and friends would begin to arrive. So we new we would need a day to get it all together. First we worked on getting all of our table numbers and place cards together. All we had to do was take the handles off the buckets, slip on the place cards, reassemble and add tafy. So I figured this was an easy enough task for Dan as I put together and arranged all the welcome bags and labeled all of the stuff for Diane. Well I was wrong!

So we deliver all the welcome bags which was a cinch. I had created a sheet for each resort with the guest’s names and confirmation numbers. We handed them the sheet and the concierge just entered the info in the computer and we handed them the bags. To my knowledge everyone got one. Then we dropped off all of our stuff at Franck’s and head back to the BW.

That evening was the last evening it would just be the four of us. Starting on Sunday we would be traveling in groups of 8, 16, 30…so we decided to have a nice quite evening and go to Cali Grill. I do not have to tell you all how spectacular this place is. We had the best meal and of course the view is killer….

Chapter 3:
“Well hello gang!”

The alarm rang very early this Sunday morning. Jambo! We had 8 am ressies at Donald’s Breakfastsourus. So we all stumbled out of bed and head to the Animal Kingdom. Breakfast was ok. The characters made it. You get the classics Mickey, Donald, goofy and Pluto. The food was just so-so. Even though the characters were great we all agreed we like Crystal Palace better. Still we had a good time!

I was so mad because the Nemo show was closed. Turns out it was closed all week and guests kept saying hey that Nemo show was closed- jeesh you would think they ran the ride just for me and Dan and we closed it down! Well whatever I saw it Jan and really liked it but still I was bummed but I guess there is always next time. Instead we saw Festival of the Lion King and a few other things. Around 3:30 pm we head back to the hotel to shower and change. It was father’s day and Dan’s parents and Dan’s sister and husband had arrived that morning. We had ressies for Tony’s Town Square at 7pm so we were meeting them at the Magic kingdom.

Tony’s Town Square was really good. We had a great time and it was so much fun having more people added to the mix. Since it was father’s day we had arranged a cake through that new cake line to be delivered to Tony’s. Rogers favorite character is socerer Mickey so we had the cake made with that theme.

Later on we watched spectromagic and wishes which we all found very amusing! I thought it was even more fun because my BIL Kyle and my bro Steve who are not so much into Disney were just having a blast. Even though they did make the comment “Dry park???? What the $%^&&!)

Afterwards it was extra magic evening. Now Dan and I have done this before with much success but the park was just as crowded as during the day. Even though it was already around midnight we really only got to ride Pirates! So we decided to have our own fun and ransack the MK- lol just kidding but we did make our fun!

Awww thanks so much guys! it's funny you girls mention the Jennifer Anniston thing. I get it quite often and the day of my wedding as my videographer was shooting me she stops the camera and says"he you know you really look like Jennifer Anniston?" It would be even better if I had her body:rotfl: but I won't freak about that because she probably works out 7 days a week :rotfl2:

Chapter 3:
“Hoop de doooooo, hoop de dooooo!!!!!!!”

It was Monday morning at the alarm rang at 7 am for a minute I thought I was back home until I heard stitch screaming “nooooo sleeeeeeeeping”! lol! We had gotten in around 1:30- 2 am the night before because of magic hours and I was not feeling all so well. I should have taken this as the first clue that I was getting sick but I have a weak stomach so I figured it was just something I had the night before. Still, I needed to sleep some more so I had Dan call his sister and tell them we wouldn’t be at MGM until 10 am or so.

I went back to bed for another hour and I really needed it. We woke back up at 8:30 am and got dressed. We were right of the lounge area so Dan went and got us some tea and muffins for breakfast at the Bellview lounge. We headed off to MGM where we met up with Kerry and Kyle. Now they had gotten there earlier and already ridden TOT and RNR buuuuutttt the won the free fast past thing for that day at MGM. So it worked out for us because they were able to use their park passes to fast pass RnR for us so while we waited for that time to come up we decided to ride ToT. There was no line- can you believe it??? We only waited 5 mins so we rode it twice!

Later we met up with my bro, my mom and Dan’s parents. We saw a few shows and ate lunch. Unfortunately Dan’s dad forgot his heart meds at home so that was a big to do but luckily we were able to get his doctor to phone in to one of the pharmacies and then the pharmacy delivered it to POR!

By this time half the day had passed and it was around 4pm. We had tickets for Hoop de Doo review that night so we all headed over to Ft. Wilderness. I will say that day in the park was exceptionally hot. We were all dying and sweating. It took a lot out of everyone so Hoop de doo was the perfect thing to do at that time.

We were all sat very quickly and we had good seats toward the back on the first floor.
The food was decent- I mean it’s not Jiko but you can’t expect that. It is more about the fun time rather than the food itself but still everyone enjoyed the comfort food and the endless sangria! Let me tell you I think we drank like 3 pitchers between the 5 “kids” My mom and Dan’s dad only had a glass and Dan’s mom doesn’t drink so needless to say we were a bit tipsy!

So as I said we were tipsy and really getting into the show!! We were singing along and everything lol!

later that evening we were going to go see fantasmic but it started pouring. Everyone wanted to just go home except Dan, Kerry and I. so we head back to MGM to do some shopping. Well we got soaked! It was such a bad idea…between being soaked and however I was feeling that morning, by the time we got back to the resort I was sick- full fledged sick. I felt like a Nyquil commercial. Stuffy nose, soar throat, fever and coughing.Yuck!

We called Dan’s parents and my mom and got some stock in Vitamin C, Echinacea and cold medicine. I just hoped for the best but I was upset. It wasn’t so much that the next day was DATW but I just didn’t want to be sick for my wedding, oh and ok the next day was DATW and all of my friends and some more bridesmaids were coming to join the fun- boooooo!

So now that my recaps are getting more into the wedding festivities I thought I would add my vendor eviews and things I was happy I did or didn't do.


Happy we followed our hearts and had a Disney wedding
Of course at some moments I doubted the choice myself, but Disney is just Dan and I. it was there that I realized I truly and deeply love my husband, and it was there he proposed to me in a way I will never forget. So while other people may have been skeptical, we always knew this was the place we were destined to be married.


Happy I spoke up and asked for a new planner
While I won’t get into all the drama with my first planner, I will just say she almost had me doubting my decision to use Disney. Once we spoke up and voiced our concerns to Kristi Davis, she assigned us to Dian Bowen. The woman is spectacular. I never had to wait more than 24 hours for a response to anything, or a revision. She was just awesome and she was as nice and sweet in person. My only regret is that I did not have her from the beginning and the P.S. (which was totally out of my control lol!)

Randy Chapman
Again another decision I was on the edge about. There were a few photographers in mind and in the end Dan made the final decision. His choice was made (of course on Randy’s work) but also his experience. There had to be a reason all these people use Randy. Well after knowing him now I know why. There is not a cooler, sweeter more easy going guy than Randy. No matter what he will make you smile and he will make you feel beautiful. Plus he knows Disney and how to photograph it.

Kennedy video productions
Another vendor I cannot say enough good things about. Kathleen and Ray are just the most amazing people. After we saw their work we didn’t even look anywhere else. I have complete trust that my video is going to be completely amazing.

Disney floral
I know many people have had issues with Disney floral but I am so happy we used them. Rose Dizon is one of the most talented floral designers I have seen. Some girls dream of the coach or whatever but my thing was the flowers, my bouquet and the centerpieces and the room. I was very clear of what I wanted and rose knew that but from the moment I met her at the PS she just got it. In fact I thought because I asked to reduce the price of certain things to fit within our budget that my floral would be smaller than I had initially hoped, but actually quite the opposite- it was drop dead beautiful- I am bias of course :rotfl:

Happy we had our reception at the Boardwalk
Ahhh I just love that resort. Everything about it. The service everywhere from the Inn, to the villas, to the convention center was just top notch. The chef at the BW (chef Dennis) was just awesome. He knew how important the food was to us and everything was awesome. The service the night of the wedding was insane. I would take a sip of a drink and the waiter would give me a new one- literally! Also having the Inn so close to the CC was great and most of my guests stayed there also which made it very convenient. Plus I am so happy I decided to use the BW for pictures. I just love the feel there and it is so much in character with Dan and I.

Lisa Pena
I know people have had issues with her as well, but I was blown away by the work she did for me. I almost cried when I saw my hair and makeup- it was EXACTLY what I wanted. We had all together 8 heads of hair and 4 faces of makeup and in my opinion every single person looked beautiful! We were done with way more than enough time. A good friend of mine who is a stylist and owned salons in NYC and Florida wanted to do my hair. I wanted her to enjoy the wedding. She was nervous and standing by on- call in case I freaked but even she was amazed at how good of a job Lisa did!

Added all of the “extras”
It was all a big hit and people were just blown away by the detail. The Rolls- Royce (which while I love the carriage it is just not me and I do not regret whatsoever not having it), The butler (which was a last minute addition that everyone is still talking about, the sorbet (the biggest hit of the night), the slipper, and the confetti canons.

Welcome dessert party
Another thing we were going back and forth on. See the thing is I really wanted to have a 5pm ceremony. Being part Greek most wedding are not until the evening and the party goes all night so I wanted a later ceremony- so no DP. We decided to do it as a welcome party and it was a big hit. People were amazed. It was also a great ice breaker. I got to meet people from Dan’s family and vice versa so the wedding greetings went super smooth. What I regret is not eating any dessert because I was so full from O’Hana..grrrr! I am also happy I had this professionally photographed and video taped.The thing I would have saved money on here is the bus transportation- 2 buses were not needed for 70 people 25 of which were staying at the BW.

Broke tradition and stayed with Dan the night before
This was not planned but I was so nervous I don’t know what I would have done without him. He has a way of calming me down. He is the yin to my yang. Anyway he slipped out early in the morning way before I woke up and we didn’t see each other until the ceremony.

So happy we used the Garden Suite to get ready and for the 2 nights after the wedding
I just love, love, love that suite. So cute. It had so much space and it was perfect for getting ready. Plus I think we will have some great pics in there. Plus it was really romantic after the wedding.

Took the day after the wedding to unwind
We totally pampered ourselves with a couples massage at the Mandara and Victoria and Albert’s and it was perfect and a great way for us to unwind and spend alone time together.

Thing I may have done differently......

Not stayed off property for 2 nights
We had scheduled a week and a half of Disney before the wedding. As we approached the date we just wanted to get down there and do a full 2 week vacation before the wedding. Plus Dan had never been to Sea World. We couldn’t book the Boardwalk so we decided to stay at the new Vistana. Well it wasn’t that we hated it (there was still a ton of construction going on) but it just wasn’t the same. Plus moving was annoying. We really felt like our real vacation started when we arrived at the Boardwalk. Sea World was fun but even if I decide to back I will still stay on Disney property.

I would have had Disney Arrange Something different for the Pre-reception
My Ch was supposed to be on the boardwalk outdoors under the lobby. Well that day it didn’t really rain which I am so thankful for. I think it sprinkled for like 2 mins at 3pm and that was it. But Disney was scared it was going to rain. Plus because there was no rain it was craaaaazy hot and humid. Disney basically said look one of 2 things is going to happen 2a. it is going to pour on your guests or b. someone is going to pass out it is so hot. So I said fine, move it inside- boohoooo. I know I wasn’t even there but I loved that spot. Not sure what else I could have done but forced it to be outside and my guests be miserably hot which would have been selfish of me. This leads me to the next wish I had…

Not had it at the end of June
Again nothing I could have done to really change this. I graduated at the end of May, my BM’s are college students and the other a teacher. We had no other option but August. It was soooo hot. I am so amazed it did not rain. In fact, aside from the heat it was a beautiful day. The thing is the 2 weeks leading up to the wedding were torture. Every time there was a 4 or 5 pm rain shower which was like almost everyday (and man did it pour) I would get depressed and say oh man right now our ceremony would be beginning. So in the end it was great but there was always that heat and rain floating over our heads.

Chapter 3 cont’d:
“Drinking (and eating and more drinking) around the world”

The plan today was to meet up in EPCOT around 9am with all the family. My Aunt, Uncle and 3 cousins (all of whom were in the bridal party) had arrived the night before and planning to meet us at 2pm for DATW. Dan, myself, my mom, my bro, Kerry, Kyle and Dan’ parents had ressies at LeCellier for 11:30am for lunch. We were going to hit the park and ride some rides before lunch.

Well that was the plan anyway. Once again I woke up dreadfully sick at 8 am. I dosed up on medicine went back to sleep and woke up again at 10 am. I took some more vitamin concoction and cold medicine and felt a little better. I was not going to let a stupid cold ruin this week for me or make me miss LeCellier for that matter. So I got dressed and we quickly head to EPCOT to meet everyone (ahhh you’ve got to love the Boardwalk for that reason alone!) We had some lunch and I had the petit filet- yum yum!

For some reason it made me feel better just to sit and relax and eat a good meal!
After lunch we met up with my cousins and began our drinking and eating fest. Well mostly drinking for me and mostly eating for Dan!

By the time we hit Morocco I was getting buzzed! Still I stayed true to form and had a beer in Morocco. Everyone else had some fruity frozen thing and Dan had some food! When we got to Italy had a call on my cell. My friends had arrived and were in EPCOT!!!

We all waited for them and in the meantime I introduced everyone to Rosa Regale.
Needless to say it was a hugeeeeee hit.

We stopped in Japan and china for some- you guessed it -drinks and shopping. I just love the shopping in Japan. I love all things Japanese and so we spent a good chunk of time here. Some people did some sake shots and I got this yummy tropical drink in a booth in Japan. I think it had 151 so needless to say by the time we hit Mexico and had a margarita in hand we were all pretty wasted!Now this would have been the perfect time for that rumored tequila bar- but oh well that wasn’t there so a another margarita would have to do.

We decide not to watch Illuminations since the DP was just a few days a way and I decided I needed my rest and sleep to ensure I didn’t get any sicker. The alcohol had managed to numb my senses but under it all I could still tell I was sick. At around 8pm everyone went their separate ways. Dan, myself my mom, and Steve head back to the BW. Out of curiosity we decided to check in at Flyin’ fish to see if anything was available and sure enough it was. How Dan ate at this point was beyond me!!!!!!!



Still, it was one of the best DATW ever. Dan and I had done this countless times but just by ourselves. I thought it would get chaotic but it never did. Everyone just went with the flow and had a blast! I would highly recommend this activity with a large group.

Up next in chapter four…the wedding festivities begin, bridal tea, bachelorette party but is Mary going to be too sick to make her own wedding festivities?? Stayed tuned folks…..

Chapter 4:
“Let the wedding festivities begin….”

It was Wednesday morning around 10 am, luckily today I got to sleep in because it really helped with my developing cold. I woke up and felt 10 times better than I had been feeling. Luckily all those vitamins kicked in just at the right time. Dan was getting dressed because all the guys were meeting in my mom’s villa for their tux fitting with Carolyn Allen’s. He asked me if I had anything planned because he wanted me to be there lol! I didn’t originally plan on being there but my bridal luncheon wasn’t until 2:30pm so I said why not.

We went over to my mom’s room and some of the guys were arriving. Just a few minutes later Kathleen arrived and got to work.

Just a few things had to be swapped out here and there so there were no major issues. She took back what needed to be changed out and said she would leave the new ones with Bell Services tomorrow. So far, so good. The guys got dressed and head out for their manly day of wings, beer and baseball at ESPN zone. I head back to my room to get changed for tea. We had arranged to meet everyone in the lobby of the GF at 2pm. So my mom and I head on over at around 1:30pm. Two of my bridesmaids were not able to make because of work schedules but that was ok, I wasn’t so upset because at least they could be there tomorrow for the rehearsal.

We all met in the lobby and took some pics. As you will see I thought it would be fun to do a “wear something red theme” it started as a joke between my cousins and I because we were joking about wearing big hats and polka dot dresses but everyone got into it!

ummm yes even at tea champagne was necessary!

After tea we said our good byes and my mom and I head to the GF spa to get a pedi. I wasn’t blown away by the spa itself (I had been there before) and the pedi IMO was just so-so but hey it got the job done and I had a cute French pedi for the wedding! Also they used this amazing sugar scrub which I couldn’t resist and bought! Afterwards my mom and I walked around a bit and talked the we head back to the BW because at 7pm we were having a pizza party in my mom’s villa and afterwards we were off to jellyrolls! Also I was not feeling so hot again so I knew I needed to rest- grrrrrr! Once we got back to the BW and I changed and got out of the heat I felt better again and that was the last time the darn cold ever showed it’s face again!

Up next in chapter four…a pizza party with 30 people in a one bedroom villa, everyone gets drunk at Jellyrolls and the girls are off to Pleasure Island!

Chapter 4 cont’d:
“Time to party!!!”

After our pedicures my mom and I head back to the Boardwalk. When we arrived the guys still were not there. My mom and I went our separate ways so we could rest up for the night to come. As I was getting ready for a nap Dan shows up. He is stuffed to the brim and stinks of beer lol! He loved ESPN Zone and apparently the guys had a blast. I quickly remembered that I had left the responsibility of ordering 10 pies of pizza and some other food from Spoodles to be delivered to my mom’s villa at around 7! Did he do it? To my relief he did, I am so happy Dan is a guy I could count on. He never lets me down and this week he was better than ever.

So we napped and around 6:20pm I jumped out of bed…oh sh@#$$t we are supposed to be at my mom’s villa in 20 min. Dan agrees to go over and help my mom set up so that I can primp myself!

Now let me just say I didn’t know who exactly was coming:headache: . I sort of just put it into the newsletter and said hey join us if you like. I knew my college friends would show up for free booze and pizza and my bridal party would be there. Well, when I showed up to the villa there were like 35 people! All of our aunts and Uncles, parents, cousins- it was so funny. I wish I had a pic because we were so cramped but it was still fun. Everyone ate and drank. By this point my BIL Kyle was already tipsy and making me pee my pants!
So at around 9pm as a huge group we decide to head over to jellyrolls!

it was hysterical because our parents kept throwing the piano players like 20 bucks every other minute to play certain songs that are popular in our family- “pour some sugar on me” anything kiss oh and of course my mom had to get in “it’s raining men!”

At around 11pm ish the girls( and my very gay friend and Heather’s boyfriend who we let tag along because he is quite shy and didn’t know the other guys) decided it was time to head out to PI. The guys were doing their own thing (which in the end meant getting so smashed they couldn’t really leave the Boardwalk and jumped between Jellyrolls, ESPN and dance hall).

I had never been to PI before (gasp I know I have been to wdw over 25 times and never been to PI at night!- The thing is I used to be a club rat in NYC and for a long time just shied away from clubs) So I wanted to see the moving dance floor at mannequins.

So we hit that first- did quite a few shots, almost busted our bums getting on the dance floor and then decided it was a very odd crowd and had to leave. We did have a bit of fun first!

We left Motion quite plastered and head to Motion. We had a blast here…there were tons of weird guys and so the ears started making its rounds. We were telling people we were having a mass marrying Disney style- some actually believed us!

At around 1:30am we decided to switch it up and head to the 70’s/ 80’s club but they were calling last call- WHAT?????? In NYC the bars stay open until 4am so we were quite shocked. I mean we were all drunk but could have still partied- how do you Floridians do it? Lol! Since we were all staying at different resorts we decided to go home. Everyone’s feet was killing them!

Anyway Kerry had a pedi appointment at like 9am and I had to a nail and hair appointment the next day as well. Turns out quite a few people (both the guys and the girls) were praying to the porcelain god that night! Luckily it wasn’t Dan or I lol!

Chapter 5
“Tell the cast they need to rehearse!”

Our phone rings Thurs morning and I jump out of bed. I had one of those “where am I, when is it, did I miss my wedding moments” thanks to a ummmm little bit of liquor the night before. Then I realize it is 10 am the day of the rehearsal and Dan is on the phone with his very hung over groomsman Matt. They are coordinating their trip to Periwigs for a clean up. Meanwhile I call my mom and we arrange to meet to head over to Periwigs for our manicure and blowouts.

So let me say I had to make our rehearsal later in the day (3:30pm) because 1.half my bridal party was flying in that morning and 2. I didn’t want there to be big time gaps and our ressies for O’hana was at 5pm. It actually worked out well because a few members of our bridal party was severely hung over and needed to sleep in and I got to get in my mani and a hair blowout.

My mom and I walked over to Periwigs from the Boardwalk and it was such a nice walk. Just relaxing and we really got to chat alone. It was our last “mommy- daughter chat” before the wedding.

We were entering periwigs and Dan, Matt and Steve were leaving. Side note-After the fact the guys told me Matt was throwing up all morning and had to go back to his room to sleep and he would later meet us at GF. My mom and I had our hair and nails done and we were very pleased. In fact I enjoyed this waaay more than the GF spa. It was small quaint and quiet and the people we so nice. I sort of wish I saved some moolah and did my pedi her but oh well what can you do? Once done we head back to the BW where we ran into my family (My mom’s brother and family all of who are involved in the wedding). I was happy to see they made it with time to spare. We agreed to meet in the BW lobby and head over to the GF together.

So I changed and we head to the lobby. We all hopped on the bus to MK and then took the monorail to the GF where we met the rest of my family and Dan’s family. We all headed to the GF convention center where the rehearsal was set to be in a salon. Because we couldn’t do an A.M. rehearsal we had to use the CC because Diane was in midst of a wedding but was able to sneak away. I have no pics of the rehearsal I am sorry but things were just so nuts!!!!!!! In a good way nuts- but everyone was talking and I finally met Diane in person and gave her a big ol’ hug. I just love that woman. Our wedding would not have been the same without her. We rehearsed and rev Jack had us cracking up the whole time while Diane whipped all those hung over ADD bridal party people into shape!

After the rehearsal we all chatted a bit and Diane got to know all the parental units. After that some people got on the monorail but a bunch of us walked over to the Ploy which was such a nice walk- hot- but nice.

We all congregated at the Tambu lounge where Leis where handed out and cocktails consumed until we could be seated……

We were seated fairly quickly and only a little past 5pm. The dinner was so much fun.i have to say even though O’hana is not fancy shmancy I wouldn’t have picked another place for my RD. It was laid back, good food, good drink and a ton of fun (to this day people still great me with shaka and O’Hana lol). With the wedding being more formal and the next day this was great way for the two families to just get to know each other! Before the food arrived we handed out the gifts which worked out very well.

They even had enough food for my vegetarian bridesmaid. There was a Hawaiian woman as the singer and she really picked on us. She had us lead the limbo line and kept announcing “The future Mr. and Mrs. Connolly” everyone got a kick out of it. She also did a dance which we started and all anniversary couples joined in. Kerry and Kyle were going to be celebrating their 5 year anniversary on the day of the wedding so they joined into!

We just had an awesome time…and we were stuffed, but we had a dessert party to attend with the rest of our guests!!! So we waited for the Disney buses which Dan and I had arranged to head over to EPCOT.

“Fireworks, friends and dessert…what could be better? ”

After O’Hana we had a bout an hour to kill before the buses would show up to take us to EPCOT for the welcome party. I was worried at first but it worked out well because everyone was so stuffed and people wanted to check out the Poly and take pics. Finally the buses arrived and we all headed over to backstage at UK. For some reason I was so nervous. Actually I was more nervous on the day of the rehearsal then I was on the wedding day- go figure! Anyway as we got off the bus a whole bunch of Pooh characters were leaving. Of course my brother in law had to run after them and they were very nice lol!

In the beginning it was so bright out…I was getting nervous because I could not recall ever seeing Illuminations while the sun was out but it was so bright. I forgot about it for a bit and mingled.

Then all of a sudden it started getting dark and that is when for me the mood changed. It started feeling more real; actually surreal.

Apparently during this time my uncle (who walked me down the aisle) decided to have a talk with Dan. My father passed a way when I was in high school and I have been very close to my uncle since I can remember so I asked him to walk me down the aisle. He has known Dan for many years but I guess he felt he should give some words of encouragement and welcome him officially to the family. What is so cool is that I had no idea this went on until I saw the pics from Randy and Dan mentioned to me about the conversation…for personal reasons I just love these shots.

The whole time we just kept saying “baby can you believe it tomorrow is the day?” I was so happy and of course I was tearing like crazy during Illuminations. Randy actually had to ask me to tie up my hair because I kept wiping my tears and my hair was getting stuck to my face lol! It was just amazing…it flew by so fast and I had extended it to make it begin earlier! It was ok though because the next day I was getting married and tonight I was sleeping in the garden suite because earlier in the day Dan had checked us out of our room and into that one so I was very excited to see it! My dream was becoming a reality…………….

Ok - I am sitting here crying at work.

It was such an amazing and memorable event. it is so unique and our guests were blown away. We had decided to do an evening ceremony and i was so bummmed i couldn't do the dp. We were just going to have everyone at OHana and leave it at that but I am so happy we spent the money on this...the memories are priceless!

Chapter 6
“Getting Ready”

When the phone rang at 8am I was in a daze. I must have fallen back asleep for a few minutes because Dan came over to me and gave me the sweetest kiss. I opened my eyes and looked at him. For a moment we just looked at each other. I said “baby is today really our wedding day?” He replied “yes it is, I love you with all my heart”. Then he walked downstairs and headed out the door to my mom’s villa where the guys where getting ready. I quickly sprung out of bed and ran downstairs to look outside. It was beautiful! I knew the clouds could creep in any point but I was not going to let that ruin my moment. My bridesmaids were all arriving around 10:30 am but I had purposely woken up early to give myself some alone time. I didn’t want to have to rush…I wanted to taken in every moment of this day and not let it fade away like some beautiful dream.

I remember thinking how I was so happy I decided to splurge and stay in The garden suite. It couldn’t have been more perfect. It was so beautiful and tranquil. The room was the perfect size and the staff was amazing.

At that moment I realized I felt strange…not sick- just odd. To this day I can’t really explain how I felt that morning. It was as if someone slipped a tranquilizer into my coffee. I was strangely calm. I enjoyed my time alone. I took a long hot shower, dried my hair and put my sweat suit on. I had ordered a large breakfast for everyone to arrive around 10:00- 10:30 from the Boardwalk room service so no one would be starving. The food arrived and they set it up for me. It was sooooo much food. It said each breakfast served 4 but it was more like 8 lol! I ordered 2! In the end it worked out alright because we had so many people in and out of the room (5 bridesmaids, my mom, my 2 aunts, my uncles, Dan’s mom etc). We are tight knit group and everyone wanted to make sure I was alright- and I was it was so awesome to feel so much love.That morning I realized how blessed I truly was.

We ate breakfast and toasted the occasion with mimosas. It was as if someone else was getting married. I was so sedate which is odd for me because I am a very upbeat person. I wasn’t even thinking at that point is this my wedding day? I was actually having a blast with my bridesmaids who are like my sisters. We ate, talked and listen to radio Disney. Finally the door bell rang around 11 am- it was Lisa Pena and her assistant. It was time to get ready!

Everyone was getting their hair done and some where getting makeup so her and her assistant started on my bridesmaids. I sat back and just relaxed!
I just loved Lisa. I know some people have their difficulties with her but if I had to go back and do it again I would use her without a thought. EVERYONE looked beautiful. She is so cool and so sweet we just got along so well. Maybe it is the New York thing. Every time I would call her to confirm or whatever she would say “hey the girl from the 516 (my long Island area code)” and we would laugh. So considering all of my immediate family is from New York and she misses it so, and was leaving the next day to head to NYC we all bonded lol! At some point Carolyn Allens arrived to steam the dresses. Then Randy arrived and he and Lisa caught up. Within a few minutes Kathleen Kennedy showed up. Everyone was so cool and just joking around. I was messing around with randy and laughing. I really didn’t even notice the cameras!


Everyone got their hair done and some makeup- all the bridesmaids, my mom, Dan’s mom- and it was finally my turn! All I remember is a few people saying my name. Randy said something like honey it’s your turn for hair.

This is when it began to kick in- I AM GETTING MARRIED TODAY TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE! For some reason right then I missed Dan. I just wanted to see him, but I knew when we saw each other it would be the most emotional moment so I let it pass.

Hair and makeup were done! At this point and little nervousness set in. Randy cam over to me and let me know it was 2pm. He said I should start getting dressed because he had to start portraits soon. What?? It is 2pm? I was in shock. Thank god for my bridesmaids. I love them so much. The plan was my mom was going to help me get dressed but I think she was more freaked out than I was. So my girls took over!

After the dress was on everyone headed downstairs except for Krystle and I. She is my cousin, my best friend, my sister. At that point she was my sanity and my saving grace. She helped hold me together and we had a moment to talk. I just hope one day I can return the favor to her.

yep that was all Randy! We didn't give hime any must take shots- the man just doesn't stop taking pics he really won't miss much so don't worry:rotfl: You can print him a few pics so you can show him what you like...feel free to use mine he knows i frequent the boards:thumbsup2
