We never seem to be lucky enough to get our wait list reservations filled. I just wondered how is your luck?

About 50 - 50, and I have to add that since I have read about calling and asking...I do ask WHEN I'm calling for something else, and it has never been the case that "something just became available."

I do check on line every day. :goodvibes

So far, so good!
Really hope I didn't just jinx my waitlist for AKL at Christmas ;)

I added on at VWL a few times, April UY, and have not had to wait.

We are currently wait listed for our next two trips. I have seen several posts where Members are talking to MS and when asked to check their wait list, the CM tells them that it just came through. Seems pretty coincidental.

I should have been more clearer. I asking about reservation wait lists.

I am about 50/50. Maybe a little more like 60/40. But I have never gotten a waitlist by calling to check on it.

My waitlists have always come through but I'm getting nervous about this trip's waitlist. Waiting for two more days and only have a little more than 3 months left. I've always had them come through much sooner but still keeping my fingers and toes crossed! :)

We're waitlisted since early June for upcoming Nov stay. Still waiting and hoping! This is our 1st time on a waitlist.

Waitlisted for a 2 br at SSR Nov. 21st and 22nd. We have been on the list since May...so far no luck. This is our first time trying.

We've waitlisted multiple times, and the only W/L that didn't come through was one night (of 6) in a 1-BR SV BWV villa (we did have PV for that night, and SV for the five following nights)...everything else--including T-giving at SSR at 5 months out (when we bought in) came through...sometimes quickly, and sometimes not so quickly...never got a "it just came thru" when calling MS...

Didn't vote as my waitlist record is more like 80% of the time it comes through. The ones that haven't have been for VWL last week in Nov. I have had Christmas and NYE ones come through but not that VWL one.

We've gotten all of our waitlist requests except one. It was during Jersey Week and all of DVC was sold out. Not a room available at any of the inns. We lucked out with a room at POP.

I'd have to say that the waitlist system has been very good to us! We are also pretty flexible too. We are not too choosy on the resort, although we don't like moving from one resort to another resort because we have a ton of stuff (it's the kids' stuff --- honest;) ).

The waitlist has always worked for me (the 3 times I have used it), but I never waitlist for more than one night since I don't like dealing with uncertainty.

Our first two DVC trips were at OKW and SSR and we didn't need a waitlist. We booked our May 2006 trip in January 2006. We had to book for OKW and got on a waiting list for BWV preferred/Boardwalk. Our waitlist came through within a month. I'm sure we'll need to get on a waitlist for January 2008, but I hope the waitlist comes through just as quick and easy!

I voted that ours tends to come through when I have called in the past.

For this trip, though, nothing has come through yet...and it's going on 2.5 months now. We still have 4.5 months to go so we'll see.

I don't waitlist day-by-day. I don't like risking the move in the middle of the vacation, so that narrows our chances some.

We are at ablout 50/50. Two trips did not come through at all. We are flexible as to which resorts we would take (any of them). One time it was even before the 7 month period at our home resort.

When our waitlist has come through it was while I was on the phone with MS. This does seem coincidental but we got a room.

I guess it just depends...

It sure seems that a lot come through while the Member is on the phone with MS. Maybe I should call more often. :hippie:

All three of my previous waitlists came through while I was calling MS. None of those were automatic waitlists, though.

THIS waitlist has been different. NOTHING has come through any of the times that I have called.

I read once, long ago, that waitlists were processed only a couple of times a week (which would explain why we might beat them to it by calling). I doubt that's the case anymore since it's all been moved to auto-confirm. Just guessing.....

Batting 0 for 2 with the waitlist. :sad2:

I think the WL and morphed points are Disney's two biggest failures to administer the DVC program fairly. Not enough to sour me on the program, but disappointing that they haven't fixed the glitches in the system in 16 years of operation. Maybe the new automatic waitlist has fixed that glitch...not sure yet. Hope so...all any of us really want is a level playing field for reservations. :)

Can I ask a dumb question about the waitlist?

I've only had to waitlist once, and was successful. But, it got me to thinking.

You're "waitlisted" if you request a certain type of room at a certain time at a certain resort and there aren't any available when you call, correct?

At some point, if that request becomes available, you get it.

Here's the question...

If, say half of the people who are waitlisted actually wind up getting their request, where do these rooms come from? Are there THAT MANY people cancelling reservations to open up rooms?!? Or, does DVC hold their rooms to rent for cash until a certain time and then open those up to the waitlisted people?

Well this is my first time with a waitlist and I am curious to see how it goes.

I called TODAY for a trip 12 weeks from now. I need a studio for 3 nights Thurs 10/25 - Sun 10/28.

I was honestly quite surprised that the ONLY resort available for 2 of the 3 nights was OKW. Not even SSR. I thought for sure SSR would be there and then I would waitlist for the rest but no such luck. I have Friday and Saturday at OKW and hoping the Thursday comes through.

But I do feel pretty lucky I was able to get 2 of the 3 at 12 weeks out, just thought it would be at SSR. So . . . we will see.

Rooms are not opened up. Booking 11 months out may cause some cancellations or changes. The plans that people projected 11 months ago may change. Schedules change, jobs change, heck maybe a baby comes along. When you're dealing with thousands of reservations dates are bound to open up. Question is, are they your dates for your type of room?
