Just wondering which one you would choose to stay at Animal Kingdom or Grand Floridian? it'll be our first time staying in a disney hotel

I've never stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge, but we stayed at the Grand Floridian recently and absolutely loved it  we would stay there again in a heartbeat. Beautiful room, beautiful pool, loved that we could take the boat or monorail right over to the Magic Kingdom. You could see the castle and watch the fireworks from Gasparilla Grill and games and the room that we were staying in we could hear the train whistle and the scary noises from Magic Kingdom. The monorail went right by our window. It was fantastic!

I haven't stayed in the Grand Floridian. Aww the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is so beautiful. I think it is experience unlike any hotel. These are the pictures we took of the room and the view of the savannah: -
Our Room - we didn't take many of these: -
The view - amazing: -
I hope this helps. The bus was a little bit annoying, it took a while to get to the MK. But it was worth it for the theming of the hotel and the view.

Wow...I've never stayed at AK nor did I ever particularly want to but those pictures were just so beautiful! I think that I will be reconsidering in the future...my kids would absolutely adore it there....hmmm...summer trip next year maybe??? ;)
As far as GF goes, I've never stayed there either but will be in Dec for our honeymoon and I can't wait! We got a theme park view and I'm really excited!! :cool1:

DF and I stayed at AK for our 5 year anniversary... And we had the balcony that over looks the animals. It was SPECTACULAR... I loved it there... I havent stayed at the Grand yet... Saving that for our Wedding Weekend...
Both are terrific

We have stayed at both and they are both lovely. It really depends on the theme you are looking for...Grand is wonderful and very Old California (since it modeled after the Grand Coronado) and Animal Kingdome is exotic and gives you a great taste of Africa ( Thatched roof and animals). Both resorts are superb. I prefer AKL but that's just me also if you chose to stay on the concerige level at either it is amazing! The best part at Grand are the fresh cookies and lemonade every day! Sorry if I confused you more but either way you will LOVE your choice!

They are both great. I prefer the GF. It is light and bright and the pool is nicer than AK. AK if you get a good room (facing in) for animal viewing it is also wonderful, but it is dark colored woods. At either or you get great dining choices too.
Good luck, just think of what you would prefer lighter or darker themes.

At the AKL, you're getting a totally unique experience. I love it, I'll be there in October using my DVC points. However, depending on when you're going they're in the middle of some construction right now so if sounds during the day and seeing construction stuff takes away magic for you, go for the Grand Floridian. The Grand Floridian is beautiful, and I'd love to try it someday. Hmm. Grand Floridian DVC. Has a nice ring to it...

We have never stayed at either...but have visited both. They have two different styles. The GF really isn't my style...BUT it has a great view of the castle...and you feel more "in" disney. When we visited AKL we were so relaxed...the whole environment is truly unique. We are going back next year to stay at AKL
I think it were me and it was during my wedding stay, I'd stay at GF....one b/c it's easier access to some of the parks (monorail) and you just feel in disney. The view/scenery is amazing...and very relaxing.

We couldnt decide on our last trip either so we just stayed at both half our time at AKL and Half at GF both were amazing. we had a concierge room at GF and for this we preferred it (you never have to buy any food its always there) so for this we are returning for our wedding, but it does depend on your own taste. I loved waking up and seeing the animals just out of our balcony at AKL but I also loved waking up to freshly baked cookies and cakes and things. Sorry didnt really help but I suggest trying both, then you are not missing out on either.

I got so excited from talking about the hotels. We just booked a one night stay at GF for our Anniversary in August (17yrs). We'll fly down for the night and have dinner at Citricos. I have wanted to go there for years...but when D-GMA comes with us for a few nights during our fall trip, our night out is Tuesdays and they are always closed.
