I was not sure where to post this.:confused3

We had our roof replaced 8 months after the storm by a company I thought was reputable. They had a local office and also a office in Florida. Well after all this time we have found two water spots on the ceiling in two separate rooms in the house. We also have water running down the wall in the living room. I could actually hear the water dripping. Thats what made me go and investigate. I have pulled out my paperwork and of course all the info I have is for phone #'s that are disconected and a website that no longer exists. I have even spent about 30 minutes surfing the net trying to find the info for their Florida location:rolleyes1. I am sure I don't have to tell you that it no longer exists.:headache:

What do I do? I am in tears. We paid a pretty penny for our "new" roof and I need to get someone out here to look at it. I am scared it is going to cost us another one. HELP!

I'm afraid you probably will have to pay for a new roof. It happened a lot here in So Fla after Hurricane Andrew. We actually ended up without windows in the family room for several years because out contractor ran on us. Sorry this had to happen to you as well. Do report them to your local government. Do you know what part of Florida they had their main office? If so I can check with my husband and see if he's heard anything on them. He is a realtor and insurance agent.

OK try this-when my new roof was installed they forgot to put sealant (like mastic) around 2 of the pipes that go tru the roof-bathroom duct work. See if the leaks originate at a roof penetration & maybe you can do this repair yourself?:confused3

wow, my MIL had a company from Florida that set up shop here too for a while. They did not finish the rotten job they did on her home and backed out of the contract. She was told to contact the attorney general or DA.
They have to sue them b/c she cannot afford to replace a lot of the mess the new contractors had to re-do. She has since gotten a new contrator and we just found out she will be back in her home in about 2 weeks! She has been in a FEMA trailer since about 5 months out from the hurricane, when she was with us. Did the company you had trouble with start with an "O"???

No, it did not start with an "O". I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I am even more upset because my husband was in very bad health at the time and I was in charge of handling everything for the house. I feel like I failed in a way. :headache: I have issues with everything it seems. It has been over 2 years and I still am dealing with it weekly. It is one thing after another. Now I am being haunted by the roof. Will it ever end?:confused3

there were several shady contractors down there after katrina. i know some guys that were down there scamming that got caught, and are now doing time in federal pen over it. they ran a roofing outfit based in fla that traveled working hte gulf coast. these guys came home after a few months bragging about how they were scamming fema and customers, some of our local people turned them in.

check the roof penetrations. again, this is an easy repair and can be done by homeowners.

contact the da and fema with all the info you have on these guys. it may be hte straw that gets them convicted and helps honest contractors make the money they need to do storm repairs next time.
