We used www.memoriesbysarah.com for our trip this Sept. which is now www.memoriesbybetsy.com and have no complaints. If Betsy is as good with communication and detail as Sarah was, she'll do well!

Very, very cute. I thought they seemed reasonable. :) Great scrapbooks and autograph books, too.

Betsy is awesome! She is going to be doing 2 baskets for our trip. One for DS6 and one for the future ILs. She has been very quick with responses! :goodvibes I highly recommend her!

Just another ringing endorsement for Memories by Betsy (www.memoriesbybetsy.com). Here is the picture she sent me of the surprise gift baskets she created for DS and DD. We are going to be in WDW in August and I can hardly control myself and not spill the beans. :rotfl: I kept changing my mind about DH's basket so I haven't received a picture yet but can't wait to see it. I couldn't be happier with her!!

I used the disney florist on our past trip! This came inside of a WDW bag that I got special from the disney mail order dept.

Anyone got any suggestions for my DH basket? I'm stuck for ideas.

I had 2 baskets from peggy last September for our wedding trip and they were great, but contained mostly snacks and candy and as candy is no longer allowed [I]'m stuck for ideas.

go with a theme! You can do a resort theme or sports or even a romantic one. Your trip is during New Year's so that has lots of possibilities. Have noisemakers, hats, wine glasses, champayne etc.

Thanks mom2of2. We are staying in a villa over NYE and get to WL on the 2nd so can't really go with a new years theme like the noise makers etc.

I am already working with Betsy and she has the WL throw and another throw to start them off (the WL throw is for my basket!! yes I must have one too. LOL)

Anyone willing to share what they have done for their DH?

I am also working with Betsy and I have no clue what to put into my husbands basket because he is super picky about what he likes. So, anyone with ideas would be great. The only thing I know I will put in his basket is a refillable mug and a ball cap but so far that is it.

Have you asked Betsy what you should include? She's a professional and knows both the merchandise as well as the cost so she should have some suggestions for you

are they the type to go to the arcade... you can put the refillable arcade cards in there.. I did that for my older 2. How about a disney gc in the amount for the rental of a sea racer.

I am using Betsy, too...though I ordered when it was Sarah's. In my DH's I put a hat, some Mickey golfballs (he loves golf), a refillable mug, and assorted snacks. My son is an avid pin collector, so I got him a lanyard, pins, arcade card, a matching hat, and snacks. Mine is a smaller version of my son's (no arcade card, fewer pins, etc). I spent just over $250.

If these go well, I will probably order something for my neighbor who is going next month.

If your husbands are into sports, there is a ton of possibilities available at Team Mickey. They have a lot of ESPN merchandise as well as specific team merchandise. They have baseball, football, golf, tennis, etc. Racing is also a possible theme.

How about a men's spa theme? The Basin carries an assortment of products directed toward men. Yes, men also like to pamper themselves! :goodvibes

Some guys like to read. There are a variety of Disney related books available. Camera accessories are also popular.

I'm sure you'll find something to fit your men!!

I think Betsy is great.I asked for a tinkerbell ipod cover for DD13 but she couldnt find one so you got a winnie the pooh one which was fine but a few days later she emailed me to say she had found a tinkerbell one for $7 in DTD,so she very kindly took the other one back which was $25 and knocked the difference off my bill. This was very good and honest of her.
Bestsy also got me a roll of pennies and quaters for the pressed pennies machines and arcade cards amongst the gifts.
Cant wait to see the basket in September.

Can I ask how much she charges for multiple baskets? I checked her site and it looks like she charges you 28.00 for the first basket (fee) and 8.00 for each after that (plus the merchandise). I noticed on the other site, she charges 25.00 per basket.

Seeing as I have to get 5 made....25.00 per basket would be way way over my budget just for fees. Anyone know for sure?

It's $28 and then $8 each I'm working with her now for January. If your having 5 I would ask her for maybe a few $$ discount say $6 for each of the other baskets, It's worth a go. This is the only money she makes on the baskets as she charges you the price of the items at shop price.

I think that you may be confusing Memories by Betsy (http://www.memoriesbybetsy.com) and Peggy's Sweets and More (http://www.peggyssweetsandmore.com). It is my understanding that Betsy charges $28 for the first gift basket and $8 for each additional gift basket and Peggy charges $25 for each gift basket with no discount for additional gift baskets. I've only heard good things from both businesses so you really can't go wrong.

I used peggy last year for 2 baskets and def didn't pay $50. I'm sure the second basket was free but I could be mistaken. I'm sure she wouldn't charge $25 for each basket to the same location!

I am using Besty for 2 baskets in October. She is charging $28 for the first and $8 on any additional baskets. She has NO MARK UP on the items in the basket...she only charges what it would cost you to get it at WDW (w/ tax), yourself. The only added expense is her basket "fee"...it is really not a bad deal at all! I think Peggy charges a surcharge on EACH item added to the basket, plus $25...from what I can see on her website and from a couple of friends that have done baskets before...which I am not saying is a bad deal or anything, I have heard phenominal things about both ladies!!!! Just FYI

Over the past week I have been working with Betsy on 2 baskets for Mid-September... Nothign but positive things to say about the experience so far... great detailed replies, very very accomodating, absolutely no mark-up etc etc..

It has been a true pleasure and I can not wait to see the pictures of the finished product.

Just thought I would mention another positive experience with Betsy!

Yes, I even asked Peggy and it was 25.00 per basket....maybe she's changed since last year? Betsy did our basket this year and we opted for just one large basket with everything in it for all of us....she labled everything with the names of who got what so it worked out well :)

Wow that sure is a mark up! especially as she adds a fee onto the items purchased also. It sure makes Betsy good value.

That's what I thought, too! That is why my friend suggested we use Betsy! She does not mark up each item in the basket, and she went and searched for the things I wanted in my 2 baskets! She was soooo great...and FAST! I will definitely use her again on the next trip!:cheer2:

Betsy was great with our basket. She got everything we needed/wanted and really had some GREAT ideas on how to fill in where some of the kids had a few more items then the others. We really loved having the refillable mugs in the basket when we arrived, the playing cards for nights that my husband and I wanted to play a game after the kids went to bed and the refillable game card for the arcade was GREAT for my son. We'll definitely be using her again next year.

If you compare prices against 1 basket, Peggy is indeed cheaper even with the slight mark-up.

I went to both sites and added up the costs of
EPCOT passporter
Burgundy Pirate Ears
Guest of Honor Badge
Refillable Mug

With tax, merchandise and basket fee Betsy comes out to $76.57 and Peggy comes out to $76.15. True Peggy does charge $25.00 per basket but she spends lots of time theming, shopping, time, supplies and Paypal charges. Not to mention all the time spent emailing people, giving quotes and taking pictures of merchandise. Peggy's site is more extensive with merchandise pictures and that is time consuming to keep up to date.

Ultimately you are going to go with whomever you choose. I just wanted to show the actual price differences.

We've used both Peggy and Betsy and had great results with both. I didn't really notice any real price difference when ordering one basket.

Betsy seems very friendly and answers email promptly.

Peggy is a real artist when it comes to her creations and she also happens to be one of the sweetest, most generous people I've gotten to know here on these boards.

I don't think you could go wrong with either one. :wizard:

I had a basket made for my dh last year. I nicknamed him Eeyore several years ago and he his very "outdoors type." She found an outdoors type Eeyore and put that in the basket. He also had almonds, sparkling cider with two wine glasses and candy. He really liked it.
does your dh hunt, fish, play sports? What are his favorite candies or fruit? Have a good time!

I am not sure about that...maybe for the items you chose...but I read on Peggy's website that there is also a 10 item limit for the basket otherwise (I believe) there is a surcharge of some type...and Besty's extra baskets for the same trip would only be an $8 fee per basket and it looks like Peggy charges $25 per basket flat rate.
We will be using Betsy! We do multiple baskets and I really like the no additional charge for EACH item!

mom2of2
09-27-2007, 02:19 PM
This is c/p straight from Peggy's site:

Due to the physical size of merchandise items, I must limit the number of merchandise items to 12 per basket.

No where did I read about a surcharge if you go over the limit.

This is the only surcharge I did find and it was on both sites:
Peggy charges $10 for less then 3 days notice
Betsy charges $15 for less than a week

I also said that Peggy was cheaper for 1 basket.....not more then 1.

Again, use whomever you want. I just want to make sure that Peggy is getting a fair shake. She seems to be getting flack for her slight increase in merchandise price which when I went and checked, Betsy was more expensive by .42

I'm just clearing up inaccuracies on the DIS. Both Peggy and Betsy have their fans and that's great, I wish them both the best. Gift basket companies in the WDW area are highly competitive and it's the longtime fans that keep the ladies in business.

Have a great vacation and enjoy the baskets that you get be it from Betsy, Peggy or Disney Florist

Betsy charges $28 for the first basket, but $8 for each additional basket...no mark up on each item, and she does custom shopping...I do not have to pick from a list on the website!

We put tons of stuff in our kids' baskets...so by far, Betsy is the better choice for me.

Anyone can pick whomever they want to do their baskets...it makes no difference to me!
