not overanalyzing at all! I can't wait! Scrapping with Dis Buddies - what could be better?

kaddjr
07-18-2007, 07:53 PM
Heck no you're not over analyzing! I've been reading the FAQs on this and I'm pumped and ready to go!

I like the idea of the tshirts. Something like SDV TEAM DIS, maybe w/names or user names on back?? I'm pretty easy to please.

Love the photopass and the meal ideas...you can bet I will have my camera on me or with me much of the time. Oh, maybe those that go can do a swap of sorts for a trip album when we get back??

Under food options- what about snacks for the crops? Chips, chocolate, hard candies, etc?? Bring your own, some to share? Small coolers for drinks?

You are NOT over analyzing and we DO love you!!! I hope I hope I hope I can figure out how to make this happen! :cool1:

Ok,
I'd love t-shirts..
at least 2 roomies (my budget will only go so far, I'm a miser)
A meal w/ all of us.. I'm good with that! As long as it has names I have heard of before, I'll be okay!
A photo.. YEP, definitely want one of those! (as well as my camera and like uhm 3 memory cards!)
Definite evenings at the WORLD.. I've gotta have my fix
I'd prefer to come in on Friday...and leave Sunday evening.. (leaving my kids will be the hardest for me.. this is something I have NEVER done before.. I NEVER do anything for myself, ever..ask my kids and my DH!)

Faerie
07-18-2007, 09:01 PM
I'm with the coming in on Friday, home Sunday at as many roomies as possible!

As far as snacks, I'll be driving so I can hit wally world or publix and come with a car load

New England Eeyore

No such thing as overanalyzing anything related to Disney!

I'll definitely be solo, but I'm up for meals with spouses and kids, etc.

Definitely T-shirts, definitely photos in the parks, definitely a couple meals outside the convention.

I'd most likely be there for the whole thing Thurs-Sun. Depending on how my time off and the $ looks, maybe even come down a little early.

I always joke that I'll never be rich enough to be able to stay at the Yacht Club so I'm thrilled to have found a way in!

BTW - If there is a Pirate and Princess Party while we're there (there is one on the Friday night of the last full weekend in August this year) I HAVE to do that.

I forgot to add, on the yahoo group we did paint can pal swaps (like SS), we can do regular swaps you name it.

Mickeyteacher
07-18-2007, 09:54 PM
What about a secret sister type swap? I can also help with sweets / snacks.
I forgot to say earlier, I'm u for any and al things said above. We will be at the World earlier in the summer, but if I forgo my other weekend retreat, I'm sure DH will let me go!

I would love to meet you all I would probably come up Friday after school as it is too early in the year to take a day off. If I came to scrap I would prefer roomies if not DH might come along.

I think I may be in for this, too! I've got to check when the first day of school is that year. If I go, DH will probably go, too. I'm in for parks in the evenings, and I love to eat, so wherever's good there, too! I think a photo pass pics would be cool, too! I'm like NEE--I'd have to try the P & P party if there was one. I've never done that! We'd probably come down Friday morning (if we could fly cheaply) and come back on Sunday evening or Monday evening.

Last year they did not allow wine but I think we can bring soda in. They had pizza delivery too.
The crop room is open 24/7 so we can crop at 2am if we want. 2 years ago there were girls next to me that never left, ever. Well except to use the ladies room but they had coolers a food and pjs. It was funny! And they have vendors galore. Everything you'll ever need.
I kited all my pages before hand so I didn't have a ton of extras. I have the Chatterbox vintage luggage and used that as my carry on and shipped my tools down. No way would I check my tools, something might walk away.
They will have classes too. A lot like CKC, those cost extra.

The price for the crop includes the room, the crop space, and 1 meal a day(in some cases)
I found 2 pics of standard rooms at the Yacht club, one has 2 queen beds and one has 2 queens and a daybed.

I overanalyze everything too. But I'm really glad someone else took this one on.
I'm on board for it all, except for the scrapping snacks. Unless they have local rates (you know, no hotel rooms pricing) I won't be scrapping. I still want to do the Secret Sister thing though! So count me in for dinner (with or without the family), TeeShirts, Photo Pass, P&P Party, and I'll find you in the parks if you want.

I was at SDV last year and didn't think I'd go back b/c I didn't want to spend time at the crop, I wanted to be in the parks and I missed alot. But I'm going to be a FL resident in about a month, so I'm in with you guys!!

A note on the t-shirts, I was t-shirt organizer for the cruise group I was with last year and Cafepress worked great for us and our group was over 100 people. So, I can help with that part!

And I'll be local, so I can help out with anything. OMG did I just say I'll be local!!! :faint:

Wow, the timing coincides with when I wanted to plan the family trip for 2008 anyway. I wonder if I can convince DH to take the kids to the parks for 3 days without me. I'd love to do this if I can buy in on the "locals" rate.

If not, there's one in July 2008 in Burlington, MA that I may try to attend. That's only 2 hours away for me by car:).

Actually they don't right now. This message is on the main page for the Disney one:
PLEASE NOTE: Due to our contract obligations with Disney's Contemporary Resort, Local packages will not be available until we fulfill our overnight room requirements.
And they apparently haven't met their room requirement yet. We'll have to watch to see at what point the local packages become available for this year.

well that stinks, but they do usually fill up their room requirements so I wouldn't worry to much.

Camp Hill PA has theirs up, I think the WDW prices were a little more expensive but not to much. It will at least give a target amount.

I sooo want to do this. I will have to wait and see what the family situation is next year (we may be trying for #2). I just did the SDV in Burlington and had a great time (Kim1964- I recommend it!). I couldn't imagine combining my two favorite things - Disney and scrapping!!! (umm...obviously favorite aside from my DH and DS. Good thing DH doesn't read these boards!).

DianaLyn- I am so jealous you will be a local!

I love the Tshirt design!

So you're going local huh? Cool!!!! I hadn't even thought about Cafe express, I'm sure at some point I will be picking your brain!

PBLM is good. We were at a scrapbooking playgroup on Tuesday together actually.

Yes, we going local---well about an hour and a half away in Bradenton--but that's local compared to NY!! I just can't stand the snow and cold anymore and there's a GREAT scrapbooking store not too far from the house we've picked out! :rotfl:

The only "problem" with Cafepress is that you have to be careful with the graphic you design. It can't have any copyrighted image on it---like the Mickey in the graphic posted would be a no-no.

The best part though is that once you set up the shop, anyone can go in and order whatever they want, pay cafepress directly and it ships directly to them. So no, last calls the order is going in, no I got the wrong size---it makes life really really easy. I can post pics of the shirt we got from the Member Cruise last year. We had a small design on the front pocket area and a big design on the back, I want to say the regular shirts were 9.99 and there's always some sort of discount code out there. There's so many different items to choose from too--stickers, tote bags, mugs, every type of shirt imaginable---even THONGS!!!! :lmao: Oh and you can set the prices to be so you (as the shopkeeper) don't make any profit off it at all, which is what we did. As we get closer, I wouldn't mind being the "shopkeeper" , just not the designer---I'm definitely not a designer!! :lmao:

BernardandMissBianca

I will definitely keep them in mind as we get closer.
Is there any kind of minimum that we need to have?

Diana Lyn

I will definitely keep them in mind as we get closer.

No minimums, no start up fees---another reason it worked out so well for our last group. Usually when you get shirts printed, the first 20 shirts or so are pretty expensive and they get cheaper from there. With Cafepress the price is the price, you order what you want, when you want it. I had an experience where one person took on the task of ordering shirts from a local place. It turned into a fiasco, feelings were hurt, people felt they couldn't get what they wanted---from that experience we grew alot. AND the cafepress stuff was cheaper!! I know it sounds like I work for them, but I don't!! The experience I had with the shirts from my 05 shirts was completely different from the one I had with the 06 shirts. I'll pm you the link to the shop we had, I dont think I'm allowed to post it here. Zazzle offers the same type of service--but in my research (don't ask how I got this job!!) I found they didn't have the product selection and the feedback I got from other Zazzle customers was that Cafepress had better quality products.

What kind of time frame do they need?

Next we would have to come up with some kind of design. It needs to include the DIS, a computer, and scrapping stuff.

Any graphics designers out there? We can not include Disney trademark stuff though.

I placed my order, it shipped the next day and I want to say I got it in two days. There were like 2 or 3 people in our group who ordered shirts and when they printed only the front design was there, not the back. They called cafepress and they reprinted them for them and shipped them the next day. They didn't even want the messed up shirts returned to them. That was the only problem we had with them and I want to say there were just over 100 orders from our shop (all DISers). Their customer service was awesome, which is another reason why I can't say enough good things.

Speaking of pennies in a jar - when I talked my girlfriends into going to WDW with me they said they needed a year to save up the $. So I took a mason jar, cut a slit into the lid for an opening and decorated the outside with Disney stickers and tape and ribbons and labeled it "Girls Disney Weekend Fund". They loved it, and used it, and we went as planned!

Make your jars now ladies!

If not I can send her on the backstage magic tour one day at MK since she will have just turned 16 and has been asking to go on this since she was 12. She said it would be a great 16th birthday presant. She's too spoiled!

She might like that a little too much!

School starts late for them next year because of construction so there shouldn't be anything going on that weekend. Football doesn't usually start until the following week so she shouldn't have to march or cheer. Depending on if I am teaching again next year this may just be a weekend trip. Marching band is going to WDW beginning of Christmas break 2008 so I was planning our big trip for then.

In their cuting area, do they have a cricut? should one of us bring a Cricut? I'll be driving so it's easy to put Bella Bug into the car (yes I have named my Cricut). Then we can each just bring mats and carts?

BernardandMissBianca
07-20-2007, 02:01 PM
I don't think they have Cricuts at least they did not in the past The only tough part for the cricut would be running power. I would have to look into getting tables near a power supply.

Or could we run back to the run to cut the items we need?? Not that we want to do all the running..but if we knew the night before what we needed... or cut what we needed that evening...
I need a name for my bug.. My DS named my crop-a-dile "Alligator"!

The didn't have a cricut available last year, but it had only come out a couple of months before. BAMB is right, it's gonna be tough to get to power, as the room is gigantic and most of the vendors were by the outside walls (where I'd assume a power outlet would be). Hmm--guess we're gonna have to get a generator! :lmao:

As far as packing goes, I had found a really good packlist for folks traveling with supplies somewhere online that I used---I'll have to track it down and post it.

If we are near each other could we have those of us from closer by bring anything bigger that we needed. I will be driving up so it is easy to take whatever I need with me.

Looking carefully over the site about SVD I would think it might be hard to get a table with power avaiable. We could keep it in a room and cut what we needed at one time.

I won't be bringing my craftrobo pro with me but I can precut some connected titles if people want. I run it off my desktop so it is too much to bring along besides it would take up all of my table space.

I would also be willing to bring a box home and ship it from here to your house if you can't take all your things home easily and don't want to pay shipping rates from Disney.

Definitely---or even keep it at the table with our stuff and then go into the hallway or other classroom that's not in use to cut.

I'll have mine and I'm pretty good with sharing! ;)

Cricut - bring your own mats, I will bring and extra set of blades for our Bug lady. We will have to rely on our local scrappers for the bug, I'm not going to try to bring mine on the plane.
there may be power outlets in the floor so we shall see.

ME - asked on the SDV board and ME is available but no one was sure if they had talked to Dale and Nancy (the SDV people) or if they talked to WDW.

Tools - I ship all of my tools. Now when I say all I mean stuff I use all the time. So between now and then look at what you use daily and write it down.
There will be enough of us there though that I'm sure we will have at least one of everything.

Supplies - I kit everything in advance I don't cut all my mats and tags but I do gather my pics, find paper to go, and find embellies. If I have room I will bring some extra stuff with me. There are tons of vendors there so you will be able to find what you need. They also have this thing called scrapper in need. The SDV people will get on the mic and say "HELLO" to which we answer back "hello" it's really funny. Anyway they will announce scrapper in need and then say what you need. People bring an amazing amount of stuff so I'm sure someone will have what you are looking for.
They also have a table set up in the front where people put stuff they don't want. At least that's what it looked like to me.

Sitting together - When we get a final list together I will e-mail it to Dale and Nancy so we can all sit together We can make flags and signs so we know where we are. The yahoo group makes a big red Y, so I figure we can have a lime green mickeyhead. Maybe we can con one of our sisters with an expression to cut out a few for us.

The room at the Yacht club is huge!!!! I'm trying to think of a place at WDW that is the same size, bigger than most of the restaurants I would say. God I wish I had pics!

Diana it was 8 to a square right? 4 on one side and 4 on the other. The tables are 2 people to an 8x4 table 4 tables to a square if I remember correctly.

That sounds right. I remember a bunch of people at our table didn't show up, so we were pretty excited to have the extra space.

I'm sure we'll go into this more as time goes on--but my big tip is to bring some sort of shelf to build "up" your workspace, because there's not much room to keep your tools. I was amazed by some of the set ups these girls had!!

As a local I'd be happy to do any supply runs before or whatever you guys need. WOW--did I just say I'm going to be local again!!!! Sorry, the whole idea hasn't quite sunk in yet. My mom doesn't visit us in the summer due to the heat (she's in Seattle) so wouldn't have anyone to watch DD (no other family here) if DH had to be out of town since her school starts the middle of Aug.

It would be so great to meet you all, so I will pray some :pixiedust: comes my way and somehow I will be able to go.

whenever they run out of seats I guess. The Yacht Club I think held 800 but I'm not sure. They still have several hundred seats available for this year so I would say July at the latest if you want to crop every day. Saturday typically sells out first.
Typically the date to have it paid off is mid July 2008 so after that you would have to pay in full.

I guess it had always been held at the Contemporary. Last year when we signed up it was advertised as the Contemporary until about 8 weeks before IIRC. They changed it to the YC because of the construction at the CR, or at least that's what they told us, because the construction at the CR is till going on I think, so I'm not sure why it would affect last year, but not this year.

I prefer the YC myself: Stormalong Bay, Beaches N Cream, walking to Epcot and the Boardwalk. :sunny:

I had read somewhere (either here or maybe the SDV board) that it was because of all the construction over there. And last year at this time they were re-doing all the tower rooms.

As for a little cheaper---I doubt it. Like BAMB said, we paid the same rate when they switched us. This year it's about $10 more than we paid last year I believe--but I don't think it's because of where it's being held, everything seems to be getting more expensive!!

Just in case no one heard, Nancy and Dale are not having mixed room occupancy. Normally in my room 2 people come in on Wednesday and then 2 more on Thursday. They will not allow it anymore.
Do we have a count down for next year yet?

Hi everyone. SDV this year was a blast! Stayed up way too late, didn't get that much done, ate too much...but I had a great time!

Due to the construction, we were given a lagoon view room in the main tower. :woohoo: My friends had a Magic Kingdom view room. We were so excited and planned to watch the fireworks Saturday evening.....only to find out that there would be no fireworks due to "Night of Joy". :sad2: I was so bummed, if we had know, we would have watched them Friday night.

I also wanted to let everyone know that Michelle at Scrapbook Central has two of the Magic Pocketed Spiral Album kits left for sale. The kit has color pictures, all paper is precut and has complete instructions. If you are interested, please contact her at www.scrapbookcentralonline.com. The kit retails for $25.00.

Can't wait until next year!

Me Me Me!!!!
I will be going - This will be my 5th Orlando SDV (now the sad thing is that I live about 45 minutes from Burlington, MA but haven't made that SDV yet becuase the timing never seems to work out!). I usually sit with some of the folks from the Yahoo group, but I would love some roomies this year to make it more affordable! I don't spend much time in the room as I tend to scrap until anywhere from 1 to 5 am!!!

There is a cricut machine to use in the crop room so you just need to bring any cartridges you want to use and I think your own mat.
You can use Magical Express and we were given a group reservation Magical Express line to call (there was also an online link to use) and set up our reservations.

The vendors are awesome and you can usually find just about anything you need. I tend to purchase much of my paper from scrapbookcentral as they bring a HUGE selection of Bazzill.

Kathi, I took your Magic Pocketed Spiral Album and it is AWESOME!!! Not sure if you remember me, but I won a prize in your class for being the person in the class that came from the furthest away! I highly recommend anyone to purchase the kit as you won't be disappointed!

I think the T-shirt idea is really cool!!! Love it! Also, love the idea of a big group meal!

Yes, I remember you!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the class. I already have ideas for next year. Some of my friends have asked for something "more girly", so I'm thinking of a princess theme.

I missed the cricut machine, but then again, I only went to the back of the room once! My table was up front and Scrapbook Central was up front, so I didn't have to wander too far. LOL

We have our reservations for our 2008 trip. I will definitely be at WDW during this time period, but I won't be able to attend the SDV. I figure I might make the ressie for a few extra but if people have to cancel we'll either find others to fill the space or I'll just leave the ressie with extra, that way we don't lose our time slot.
I was thinking of going through Grand Gatherings, think that's a good idea?

If Dyan's thread about where should she eat is any indication, finding a place that we all agree on is going to be a challenge!!!

Kim, I'll let you know once we decide what to do!

The thing with the GG is that you need to have at aleast 8 people tied to their reservation system that are staying on site. You can make the hotel reservations with anyone (TA, AAA, them), but then you need tie the reservation numbers together under one "code name".
Once you have that, then you can use the GG people to help make the reservations. You can then also do all the special GG events, character breakfast, special safari/dinner, epcot dinner & fireworks, MK fireworks cruise. All cool stuff, but you need that GG reservation to do them.

technically we have more than 8, especially if we count spouses and kids but we will have multiple reservations. I guess I need to call GG this weekend and feel them out.

Could someone who went in 2007 let us newbies know how much table space we'll have to work with? (width & depth of table space would be ideal) I want to get used to that size space beforehand! LOL!!! That might help me from not overpacking!

Marylee
"Pixiedustforever" pixiedust:

I believe you get a quarter of a banquet table so probably like 3 1/2 feet by 2 1/2 feet. There are 4 people at a table. I got lucky as the people across from me were a no-show and the people next to me didn't scrap the same hours I did. One thing I saw people bring that I definitely will bring this year are wire shelves to stack up and put in front of you so you don't have all your stuff in your work area.

I'm pretty flexible - the more nights the better and the more roomates the better to keep the cost down.

Am I correct in assuming we can't really register until we have the roomate thing figured out since everyone has to be on the same package?

Faerie - I swear last night I saw something somewhere on the website that they do do payment plans - regular charges to a credit card or mailing checks in, but now I can't find it.

BernardandMissBianca

Let's see if I can answer some questions.

Diana, start prepping now, he'll have it down by August.

Marylee, I believe the tables are 8x4 or 6x3, something like that. Anyway they put 2 tables together on the long side to make a square and there are 4 people to a square. There is plenty of room! The stackers are great!!!

Susie, give everyone a few days to look and we'll start matching up. How many people are you willing to share with? that will help determine your cost.

Faerie, the first $50 is due within 10 days of booking and the rest needs to be paid by 6/23/08. I don't think there is really a schedule to pay as long as it's paid in full by the due date.

I'm going to more info over to the first post later, need to get the boys now.

The room they use is HUGE so we don't have to decide today. We have time!

I found out the answer to my own question. This comes from their website:

It is VERY IMPORTANT that every roommate registers and submits their registration at the same time! It is also VERY IMPORTANT that your roommates' packages match and you spell your roommates first and last name correctly. Too often we get people who list someone different than the other roommate listed and this only DELAYS YOUR CONFIRMATION and you might actually lose your seat with these delays!

I registered, but after talking to 10 of the 15 from my group last year, most probably won't attend. I use to do the "max weekend", but it's now out of my price range. Last year I only did Fri, Sat & Sun. I even taught two class last year to help pay for the crop fee. LOL

Think backing....my first SDV in Orlando was in 2003 and cost @$265 for Thur-Sun.

So I probably won't go this year. It's hard to justify the $ with my DH, when the two of us haven't gone anywhere on vacation since June 2006.

How those thinking about attending...if you can swing it...DO IT!! You'll have a great time!!

what are ya'll thinking for dinner Sat night? Our 180 days are coming up soon so we need to start planning.

I was thinking a resort so those who are not scrapping but are coming down at the same time wouldn't waste a park ticket just for dinner.

Suggestions welcome!

WCC is pretty loud, but a lot of fun. Let's face it, a group of ladies our size is going to be loud wherever we go. :lmao:

Another good option is Cape May Cafe. Good food, right at the Beach Club so we wouldn't have to worry too much about traveling. (Although I'm sure some of us will have cars and we can carpool.) It's not as fun as WCC is.

One more suggestion is Ohana. Great food, great atmosphere. Loud, but not too loud.

Cape May because it will be close, I've never eaten there, it would be a good chance to do so.

Ohana's is good and can accomodate a large crowd easily.

AlexWyattMommy

They both cost the same, $24.99 per Adult.

The Cape May would have a great variety for those who may be picky eaters. Come on, admit it. If you were a picky eater as child, you stayed one. :lmao:

But if we timed 'Ohana right, we could watch Wishes.

AlexWyattMommy

The earliest is 5:30 for the clam bake. That is what I made for us. I figure the stuff has to be fresh if we are the first ones there.

The breakfast buffet runs from 7:30 to 11:00, but I don't know what the last seating is for that one.

The other possibilities for lunch around the Yatch Club seem to be Big River Brewing Company (I don't know about reservations but the food was good); Fresh at the Dolphin; Garden Grove at the Swan; Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club.

If enough people have transportation we could easily go someplace else for breakfast or lunch. I have a car that can seat 5 but probably only 4 semi comfortably (Ford Focus).

On Saturday we don't have a breakfast included so we could do the character buffet if we wanted.

Or we can see if my DH will drop both of us off at BC and then take my kids to AK from there:rotfl2: .

there is no bus to the beach club because you can walk there from Epcot. You would have to take a bus to another park first.

Or have Kim pick you up.

I guess I'm going to have to have a talk with DH to see if he's OK with me taking a couple hours off from the family Saturday morning. We haven't actually discussed it yet:).

AWM and I are both staying at WL so if I get DH to OK this, it will be no problem to give her a ride.

Cool. The ride with Kim would be fun.
I can always walk from Epcot if her DH doesn't let her go away from the family. I'm sure I can handle the little bitty hike.

He better be willing to take them.....I can't possibly know that I am THIS CLOSE to meeting you guys and have him stand in my way:lmao: . I am taking the kids by myself for 5 days before he gets there, so I think I will have earned a little "me time" by then.

If we wanted breakfast earlier than 9 at the beach club I could go pick anyone up on property. I will be at the Yacht Club but I know property pretty well since we always drive.

Did everyone that is registered for the SDV get the e-mail from them today? I was reading through it and came across the picture from the Orlando event last year. I have never been to anything more than small crops so was a bit in awe when I saw that picture and all those scrappers. I am anxiously waiting to see what classes will be offered. How soon before the event do they usually release the list of classes?

I saw that and meant to post it. I was there!!! I think they had room for 800 people. See the ladies in the bottom right hand corner? I told ya'll they bring tons of stuff!!! I was somewhere in the center of the left side.

We need to make big lime green mickeys for our tables. So we can find them and each other! LOL

I'm not sure about the classes, I never timed it.

I don't remember when the classes are posted. I just looked on their website and the March convention has the classes listed, but the April and May do not, so it will probably close to August.

I HOPE to be organized and have my pages laid out that I want to complete. That way I won't have to bring my entire room of stuff. I'm sure my tablemates will appreciate that!

Hi everyone!! I finally made it here!! I'm one of Diana (& Carol's) roomies, and I can't wait. I've done CKU several times, and local crops, but no SDVs. I'll have to get myself organized to be able to actually accomplish some stuff.

And, I'm in for breakfast on Saturday, as long as my roomies are too.

I am hoping to finalize breakfast numbers so I can call soon. I'm just waiting on my roomies mom to get back from Egypt so I can make all of our ADR's.

I am currently trying to organize all my scrapbook stuff. I just can't seem to find that perfect set up. Then I will try and decide what group of pictures I want to work on in August. The rate I am going I will still have my Christmas 2007 to work on. Hopefully by the first of May I will have decided and will start putting together items I want to take with me to SDV. Of course, once the classes come out, I may have to rethink how much I plan to get done. Anyone have suggestions on how to pack without bringing the whole house (like it looks like some of the ladies in the picture did)?

I kit everything. I don't crop any pics or paper but I do get the layout ideas, the pics, paper, and the embellishments I might use and stack everything up into bags. Right now I'm using the 2 1/2 gallon ziploc bags from Hefty, but I just ordered 2 power layout boxes from CM. I note what tools I use daily and those go into a paint can which I ship down ahead of time. (I fly)

I also pack an empty zilpoc for paper scraps.

Since there are a ton of vendors I don't worry to much about forgetting something. Make sure you bring plenty of tape runners though!

you would not believe the amount of stuff people bring, The first year I went I had 1 backpack, I got the funniest looks. The following year, I brought 1 rolling bag, and a tuff tote with my tools.
There was one lady there that had 2 bell carts filled with stuff. I swear she packed her whole scrap room. The ladies at the next table to us never left. They were in their PJ's, they brought a rolling cooler with lunch meat, drinks, etc. and they ordered pizza to be delivered right to the scrap room. It was crazy!

ETA talk amongst your table mates too. So you don't bring duplicate tools.

Is there a vendor fair that people not attending the event can go to? I realize there would likely be an admission charge, but I've never been clear if the vendors are just for registered croppers.

Good news! DH is OK with me going to a breakfast with you all on that Saturday:):):). I'm so excited! Have ADRs been made yet?

AWM, I told him you'd be at WL, too, and he said he'd be happy to give you a ride over to BC that morning:).

not sure, the vendors are in the room with us. I don't know if they have an admission charge or not. I will ask around.

I'm going to be making the ADR's on Monday. I'm trying to wait for Lisa's mom to get home from Egypt.

What time are ya'll looking at? Around 9??

That works for me. We may be there a bit earlier because DH and the kids will be looking to make rope drop at AK...but I'm OK wandering around the BC Marketplace until our ADR time:).

The year before last when I flew down from NY, I picked one big project, my wedding album where I needed all the same colored embellishments, papers, etc. That made it easy for me because all I needed was that and my basic tools. I put my table top tote thing in a suitcase and was pretty much packed.

This year I think I'm going to work on my DVC album that has been back burnered for like 3 years now. We got these awesome leather albums on a cruise a few years back and I'm planning on doing a 2 page layout for each trip we've taken since we got married and bought DVC.

If anything just bring a ton of paper so if you get stuck you can just go to the punch center and cut all the shapes, there are so many! I also bring a stack of blank cards and work on those.

As we get closer we can work things out better but if there's anything specific anyone needs and doesn't want to lug, just ask and I'll be happy to bring anything along since I'll be driving over this year.

Buffy, count me in for breakfast too!

Jumping in on this thread! I signed up for one of the Local 4 day packages. I'm coming from Delaware, but I'm a cast member and can get a better room discount being a CM.

I have tons of house cleaning to do, but I'll be back later to read the whole thread :)

ETA- I'll be flying with my scrapping stuff... any tips on packing it all besides preplanning pages?

I will be driving to Orlando for the event since I am only about 2 hours away. I know it is possible to ship things to the resorts, but if anyone that is having to fly in wants to ship their items to my house I can bring them down with me. I will be arriving Thursday am. Didn't know if a lot of people would be shipping things down making it difficult to locate items at the resort. Just a thought.

I'd like to be part of the breakfast if you all will have me. If we're all paying cash and can be on one check, I can use my cast member discount for up to 4 people I think.

Welcome aboard and we would love to have you join us for breakfast.

I haven't figured out the meal plan yet, but since it's a buffet we will know ahead of time what the cost will be. I don't mind paying for it, but I just want to make sure I get my $$, ya know! LOL
I may have everyone paypal me or mail a check before we get down there, that way I will have the money on my card.

allearsnet.com updated their menu in Feb 2008 and it says $18.99 for adults. That's a pretty good deal if you ask me.

Ok so we are at 13. Do you want me to send out a PM with the confirmation ##'s or shall we all just meet in the lobby? I will PM everyone with my cell # when we get closer too.

Does anyone have any food allergies that I need to be aware of???

here is a link to the FAQ's of SDV. There is some great info about packing and planning.

http://www.dreameventsinc.com/faqdetail.cfm?ID=20&CATID=1

Can everyone please PM me your real names that you registered with if ya'll want to sit together. I will send a note on to Nancy and Dale.

DH is going to help me make some big Lime Green Mickey Heads with my cricut and a stand for them. That way we can find our tables. And I was thinking about maybe a local scrapper getting some lime green balloons?

Kim1964
03-16-2008, 06:55 PM
For those of us being driven to the Beach Club, will we need the confirmation # to get past the guard at the gate? Or will we have a name we can give as having a reservation at the restaurant?

Buffy, thanks for handling all of the arrangements.

I have to tell you guys, I was a little nervous asking DH for the "time off" during our vacation....but he said OK immediately. I've been so happy all day at the thought of meeting so many of you!! I had this great idea that those of us near Hartford could sign up for the CK event in October and we could scrap our breakfast pictures together, LOL!
