As this is my 2nd trip to WDW in my life, and my first was when I was 3, the DIS boards have been a life saver for me. Had I not literally "stumbled" across this board, my family and I would have been pretty lost and miserable at WDW in 3 days...did I say 3 days??
Anyhoo, in my brief time on this board, I realize most folks say what they want to, so in turn I will do the same.... as much as I like the DIS...I am completely unfazed by being flamed...but if you feel like you want to, have at it.
I like the Resorts board so much because it is a wealth of info from regular people, but the last few days have been a little disheartening. I've read complaints about people concerned that their stays at other deluxes, may be affected by the people displaced by AKL...and there are always the condescending mean spirited comments about Moderates and Values.
No matter who or what you believe in..no matter where you are staying on WDW property...you are totally and completely BLESSED to be on your way, or have past experience to refer to.
There are people in your neighborhood, in your community, in your city, in your county, in your state, in your country, in the WORLD who will never have the opportunity to spend thousands of dollars on a vacation to WDW or anywhere else for that matter. There are some peolpe due to illness or physical limitations may have gone to WDW before, and now realize that they never will again...their last time was their last time...there are some people that don't have friends or family to even plan and share a wonderful WDW experience with.
I understand disappointment, trust me, I do...I just hope we can all keep in in perspective and realize even w/ some disappoinment we are abundantly BLESSED. Okay, I'm off the soap box now:)

Wonderful post!! I actually had someone tell me they felt sorry for me last week because 5 of us are staying in a room at POR. I feel very blessed to even have the chance to take my family on a vacation clear across the U.S. When I was telling my nephew about the trundle bed he will have to sleep on, his response was "Aunt Randi , I'd sleep in the ground for a week to get to go to Disney World with you." I know others may be used to a different life style then some but the fact is our vacation will be no less magical then anyone elses.

Mrs. D., you are so right...we are all so blessed to be able to enjoy a vacation at WDW.
I'm glad you found the DIS and I hope you come back on the resort board and let us know about your stay.
I'm sorry to hear you've been disheartened by some posts. I've learned not to even open some threads and to read many things with a huge grain of salt.
Have a perfectly magical vacation.pixiedust:

Thanks, I needed to read this. You really put things in perspective for me. I was starting to have negative feelings and feeling sorry for myself regarding my next stay and this openied my eyes right up. I think my blood pressure lowered instantly. Thanks again.

Mrs. D,
Thank you so much for putting everything into perspective; as we know, children say it best sometimes!
Enjoy your WDW vacation; we just got back on Sunday and my 9 year old LOVED it.
Your children are beautiful and I know they will enjoy it.

My first trip to Disney World was in 2003. As we were walking into Magic Kingdom on our third day, I could see the beautiful Cinderella Castle. I held my mom's hand as we walked down Main Street. My mom was 56 and me
33. As we were walking, I remember saying to my mom, "Momma, I thought I would have to be dying to get to a place like this.' Mom said, 'Not even then Angi. We're so lucky to get to be here, just you and me.'
We have been fortunate enough to be there two more times since then, with another trip next month.
Thank you for your words. I know a lot of people needed to hear them.

Ms. D.
I just wanted to thank you for such a beautiful and insightful post. I was sitting here planning my next trip and being very depressed about my job. I stumbled onto your post and realized that bad job and all I was very truly blessed with my family, health, and a once in a lifetime trip in December.
Please have a very safe and wonderful trip!~~

Mrs. D. Thank you!!
A few years ago my son returned to heaven and I thought I would never again allow anything trival to trouble me....well, life must continue and little things do get to me, but your post was just the reminder I needed!
I found the courage to visit WDW 3 years after Toby returned to heaven...it was extemely difficult because I could see him, everywhere I went, as a little boy, a teenager and a young man during our last family visit ...
Then, coming out of The Muppets, going into the Christmas Shoppe feeling I was not going to be able to get thru the 3 days, I heard Kermit singing The Rainbow Connection - one of the songs I listened to over and over and over for months...each time it brough bittersweet tears, but this time, in MGM it brought tears of joy because I knew my son was letting me know he was with me during that visit and all would be well. The next 2 days were a bit easier and by the time we left I knoew I could return some day again.
Yes, we are very blessed - each of us in our own way, even with our day to day struggles.
I can see you are already blessed with beautiful children! :) I know your visit will be truly Magical!
God bless you, Mrs. D!!!

Wow, thank all of you guys! Y'all are choking me up a little bit:)
Baci, you really touched me...like I said this is my first trip since I was 3...I knew I wanted to go see the Muppets, but you sealed it for me w/ Rainbow Conection. We sang that when I was in middle school in the chorus:rotfl2: I adored that song and actually had probably forgotten it until you mentioned it...
Why are there so many songs about rainbows, and what's on the other side...rainbows are visions but only illusions and rainbows have nothing to hide...
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection, the lover's he dreamers and I...
Your son is with you everyday, God bless you back.

Mrs. D, I TRULY appreciate your message. My family and I went to WDW for the first time last September. We had a great time. Your kids will have a blast.
DH and I will return next month, just the two of us. We never had a honeymoon, and we've been married 10 years. We know that we are blessed to be able to go. We know that we have many great blessings that we take for granted.
As I've read some of the other posts, I've been amazed at how people react to not staying in THE resort. Thankfulness. That is what I hope to teach my children, and I hope that this is something you've made others think about. :thanks:
May you have safe travel and an amazing trip with your family!! :goodvibes

Well, Bless you, too, Mrs. D. for a well spoken, heartfelt commentary that many of us share.
In 2001,on the 3rd day of our first trip to WDW, DH fell critically ill for the last time and passed away 2- 1/2 weeks later in Celebration Health. DD had just turned 5, DS was 9. My kids and I gratefully, miraculously return every year where he still smiles down upon us at Wishes, whether we stay at value, moderate or deluxe or even.. - heaven forbid! - off-site!
A little gratitude and perspective, a sprinkle of maturity and wisdom all makes every trip just that much more memorable than the last. Thank you for your wisdom, and the gentle reminder to those who either forget themselves or just don't know yet....
Hugs :grouphug: melomouse

I want to start off with how true all the above is. We need to take a look and be thankful for what we have and live every day to the fullest. We took our kids on a holiday to the gulfcoast/disney for 2 days. This was our first vacation in years (our sons first trip ever) he is 7 now and going back to disney for xmas and his bday. In the past 2 yrs i've dealt with thyroid problems and then in may a scare with a routine colonscopy. (im 41 btw) My mom passed away at 53 of colon cancer. I have learned to be thankful for everything I have and that we are given and that everything can be taken away from us in a blink of an eye. To the post above that got to enjoy disney with her mom. Enjoy every memory of it. I'd love to be able to experience that with mine. For those that want to leave complaints about this and that... remember.. you got to go to disney.. the place of magic.. where thousands of others will never get to experience!

Thank you Mrs. D for saying what I have been thinking and feeling this last week. I spent 15 years working in a trauma center and there's nothing like working with a surgeon attempting to save a life to put your own life in perspective. To say some event/person ruined or will ruin your vacation, please let's "get a grip". Someone else on DIS said you can look at it as a half full glass or half empty...I choose to look at life as a half full glass and be responsible to spread more pixie dust.
Mrs. D...have a magical vacation!!!
