View Full Version : SAP question (again!!!)

Hi Folks,

One of my students is going to WDW in May, and she will need an SAP for short lines (hopefully, May is slow enough for her not to need it much). She is diagnosed as having moderate autism, and it is fairly obvious to most people that waiting in line is not going to work for her (actually, most of the rides will be too stimulating for her, but she should be able to ride some of the less flashy ones). Sue M mentioned that a doctor's note is not required for an SAP, but will a doctor's note be helpful when trying to convince the CM that a SAP is needed?

Finally, is there a guidebook somewhere that gives an indication of which rides may be very loud and/or have a lot of flashing lights? I can talk to her mom from my experience, but haven't been on all of the rides in all of the parks.

Just trying to make this the easiest possible trip for her mom...

It is no longer called the SAP, now it is the Guest Assistance Card. We have some extensive discussions on the GAC, I will find a good link and post it here for you.

Here is one good thread, see SueM's post that details the GAC: thread with info about GAC (http://wdwinfo.infopop.net/OpenTopic/page?a=tpc&s=40009993&f=38009194&m=660093127)

teri pretty much covered the GAC. For the question about lights and loud sounds, you can get a Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities at Guest Services. There is one for each park and it gives some really basic info abou the rides/shows. It used to tell if there were loud noises/lights, but the latest version that I have doesn't. It does say which rides are not recommended for service animals, which often translates to loud.
Here are some I know are loud (L), with bright lights (B).
MK: Tiki Room (L) and some storm and lightening
Pirates (L) cannon fire Alien Encounter (L) screams, machine breaking
Timekeeper (L) machine (B) machine operating
Epcot:Honey I shrunk the Audience (L) Living Seas, movie part only (you can bypass) Food Rocks (L)
Cranium Command (L) sudden noise and lights Body Wars (L)
Studio:Muppet 3D (L) and lights Indiana Jones (L) fire and explosions Backlot Tour (L) exposion and fire Little Mermaid, lightening and thunder Fantasmic: some people have said too loud
AK: Dinasaur (L) (B) an asteroid hits earth
Hope this helps. There was a post about seizures that had a good list of rides with lights. Maybe you can find that too or people will add other things.
