On July 17, 1989, I received my diagnosis as HIV+, and was given an estimate of 18 months to live, 'but with this new wonder drug AZT, some people are living 2 or 3 years.'
Well, here, it is, 18 years later, and I'm still here! I'm not the dynamo I once was, but I am still here...I just wish I had planned for living all these years and saved some more $$$ when I was still capable of making it!
Wanna know how exciting my life is? To commemorate the anniversary, we went out to eat...at Old Country Buffet. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Congratulations!!!
I hope you at least made use of the icecream bar to celebrate!!!;)
Here's hoping many more miracle drugs are in the making for this and so many more diseases.

Thanks! Yes, I started healthy with a salad plate (green salad, potato salad, seafood salad); then some butterfly shrimp, shrimp alfredo and a piece of fried chicken; then a couple of slices of roast beef with mashed potatoes and carrots (my partner complimented me on actually taking a vegetable sidedish); then a piece of lemon cake, a piece of walnut spice cake, and some peach cobbler; and finally some fat-free no sugar added vanilla soft serve with strawberry topping.
Then I rushed home to put on my stretch shorts and watch the baseball game...:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

No one is the dynamo that they were 18 years ago!:) Best wishes for the next 18 years and more.

Congratulations!
I always cringe when dr's. give out the time limits for people.
My MIL according to her doc's. should have died within 8 months of her cancer diagnosis.
God love her she's still around now 5 yrs. later. She never listened to what they said and needed to prove them wrong. I guess she did and so did you!
Continued good life for you buckylarue. :goodvibes
Peace, Colleen

Hey Bucky.....
That is the best news I have read all day. Bravo to you and to the doctors who continue to amaze us all with keeping people alive and relatively healthy..
I guess you showed them, 18 years later. Of course, if you questioned them, they would say oh we meant to say years...not months. ;)

Thanks all for the well wishes! I guess I'll plan on sticking around a few more years at least. Gotta see the last 2 Harry Potter movies, for one thing! ;) And gotta put on my eatin' pants and make a few more trips to Old Country Buffet, although not too frequently; I can't eat that much that often anymore!

(We need a smilie at a buffet!!!:rotfl: )
The good drugs are wonderful, but wouldn't a cure be fantastic??? Hopefully that is in your future! The new research sounds promising - for a vaccine anyway. :goodvibes

Congrats to you! Here's to 18 or more years!
BTW, who is as spry as they used to be? I just turned 45 in July and think I left my memory somewhere! LOL!
