I actually thought pretty much ALL of the bathrooms at WDW were disgusting when we were there last month. Ugh. Maybe my standards are just too high because almost all of the bathrooms at Disneyland are super clean.
Wow, I wonder if something has happened with the help since I was there last. I never saw any problem with the bathrooms and I consider myself to be a bathroom prude.:snooty: If it ain't clean, I ain't goin!:laughing:

most weren't "dirty, nasty gas station" bathrooms. But a few were pretty close. A lot of paper on the floors. A lot of unflushed and clogged toilets. I was even in a stall when I looked down and saw speckles of blood on the floor. I thought I was going to puke...ugh. I won't give you the details of when I saw the maintence lady start to clean it and how she did it....that was even sicker than actually seeing the blood. *shudder* My husband said he thinks it might even be too gross to tell in this thread.

I am referring to my trip last month as well. Maybe it was all bathrooms there, I just remember the Fantasyland one in particular-OH MY!:scared: I wasn't surprised that women could be so gross or thoughtless not to clean up after themselves or their children in a public bathroom (you find that everywhere), but I was surprised that WDW let their bathrooms get that disgusting!:sad1:
??? Turkey legs....Goooooood!!
I know, I know-people either love 'em or hate 'em!:laughing: But you are talking to someone who was vegetarian for over 12 years and I still get sqeamish around "bones." But those huge turkey legs-I could barely look at them while people were walking by with them-they looked like they were eating their own arms!! Even DBF was grossed out by them and he eats almost anything!!

Eww-I saw blood too!:scared: on the seat & I also saw....well I won't get into it (despite the title of this thread!) but by early evening I WOULD compare it to a dirty nasty gas station bathroom....and even go so far to say that I've seen actual gas station bathrooms that are much cleaner than the Fantasyland "princess" bathroom.
DBF told me that the "Prince" bathroom was pretty decent so it's true what they say about women being more disgusting than men in the bathroom!
Granted it was pretty crowded that day, but still...:scared:

I certainly hope you took time to voice your concerns at Guest Relations.

Now I'm not custodial statused, but I am custodial trained and certified... and I can tell you that's not how restrooms should be cleaned at WDW (heck, when I worked custodial I wouldn't even enter a restroom without wearing three pairs of latex gloves). I hope you took the woman's name and reported her to the closest manager -- her actions show me she's a danger to herself and others.

Actually that's really disputable. Now, most professionals agree that anti-bacterial products not only kill germs but they wipe out the good bacteria in your body as well - the bacteria that keeps the body healthy. That's why we've seen a major decrease in the presciption of antibiotics for things like the flu. This is why I say that anti-bacterial soap is a temporary solution. And you do have to wash your hands every now and then to wash off the residue or else it's doing just as much harm as it is good.
Your skin protects you from the hand sanitizer penetrating your body. The hand sanitizer works on the surface of your ski only, using isopropyl alchohol suspended in a colloidal gel. It does not penetrate and "wipe out the good bacteria in your body as well."
Antibiotics are NEVER prescribed for the flu; the flu is a virus, antibiotics have no effect on viruses, only gram negative and gram positive bacteria. A secondary bacterial infection that sets in when your body's immune system is weaked by the flu virus may be treated with antibiotics, however.
Since it's the mechanical action of washing the germs off of your body, not the antibacterial powers of triclosan (main antibacterial ingredient in soap), that is effective with soap, it's not really important whether you use antibacterial soap or not, just that you wash your hands and get a good foam going.
The bubbles in the soap attract the proteins in the bacteria, the bacteria "stick" to the surface of the bubbles, and away they go...

Whilst I agree that washing your hands wins over hand sanitizer any day, no one should ever be prescribed antibiotics for the flu because the flu is a virus. Antibiotics will not help with the flu one bit.

[QUOTE=ladyacrosstheland;23147047]Dear IHEARTNY,
Plus, in my years of living, I have come to a concencus with those around me that; come on, breast pumps are a good way to not offend anyone and it's the same thing as breastfeeding.
Oh, ok. So you want me to carry my pump and bottles around all day, first of all. Then you want me to go where to pump? Cause I will tell you right now, it is tough to be discreet with that thing. At WDW there are baby care centers, but how about in the real world? So you want me in a bathroom stall pumping, pouring up the milk in the bathroom after reading some of these stories? When it is so much easier, cleaner, less painful (pumping makes me SORE) etc. . . to just find a nice bench or the baby care center and nurse my son.
And let me just say that I know discreet. I was in the church nursery feeding my little nurseling last week and one of the men actually came in and walked right up to me to pass me communion. :rotfl: And we were sans-blanket. . . .at the Church of Christ. He had seen me go in and wanted to make sure I received the Lord's Supper and had NO idea what I was doing.
Anyway, I know I'm not going to change anyone's mind, but I am just flabbergasted at some of these comments. Yes, I pump because I work and have to, but if my son and I are spending all day together, no matter where we are, there will be no pumping. If you are offended that is entirely your problem and has nothing whatsoever to do with me.
And to the poster who commented about not wanting her children to get an anatomy lesson from a nursing mother. . . . your children will eventually see breasts. They can see them the way God intended. . .as a way to feed and nurture babies, or they can see them as sexual objects, your call.

Thank you. I did respond before I read the entire thread, and I am sorry to be a part of the hijacking, but I just couldn't let it go.
To get us back on track: This is really more mean than gross, but it involves a potty, so, well. . . here it is.
This December I saw a Mom pull out one of those portable potty chair things and insist that her little girl use it outside in plain sight of everyone, and the little girl was just distraught. Now I was really more offended by the attitude than the presence of the potty chair, because after reading this thread for a while, I don't know so much about having my little one sit so close to the floor in the bathrooms, but obviously this little girl was not into droping trou and doing her business out on the street at Disney World. It was just a sad scene. It does highlight the difference between boys and girls, though. Boys probably think it is cool to pee in a bottle rather than get out of line.pirate:

i honestly cannot understand this whole thing of parents making their kids pee in public at disney. the peeing in front of other people doesnt even bother me as much as the fact that these parents are forcing their kids to do something that obviously embarrasses and belittles them. :sad2:
if the kid is older i would make sure that they used the bathroom often. my daughters will often say that they "don't have to go", but i always ask them to try whenever we have the opportunity to use a bathroom. (i do the same myself) if the child is a toddler or newly potty trained and you thought you might have an issue, wouldnt you just use pull-ups or something. i dont want to make my kid pee in their pants, but if they can't make it to the bathroom that would be better than traumatizing them in public by making them pee in a bottle or bowl... or on the ground. those poor kids.

I understand that. Antibiotics used to be prescribed for many things unnecessarily, such as the flu and other infections that exhibited flu-like symptoms. My point is that you see much more caution around the use of antibiotics as well as a decrease in their prescriptions because they are no longer seen as a "cure all" and are seen as sometimes being harmful as they are indiscriminate in the bacteria that they kill.

Oh, I never said they didn't fit in. Quite the contrary.
But I am constantly surprised at the sheer number of people who complain loudly here -- and on other forums -- about conditions at WDW, but then turn around and admit that, as disgusting and deplorable as they were, they didn't feel the need to actually notify anyone at the time. Not a CM, not Guest Relations, not a manager -- nothing. And frankly, I find that baffling.

I wasn't really "complaining"...just adding my thoughts after someone else mentioned gross bathrooms. Most weren't over the top terrible (except the ones with the clogged toilets.) And the nasty custodial thing literally happened right as the parks were closing our final night there (it was at MGM or whatever it's called now.) I was tired and I wanted to get back to the hotel and it wasn't the grossest thing I've ever seen happen in a bathroom before. I've been in far nastier bathrooms than the ones at WDW. But I've also been in far cleaner ones (like the bathrooms at Disneyland.)

?? Well, a couple of years ago my doctor, as in MD, prescribed antibotics for a "flu-like" cold that I had, and it worked great. Since the antibotics are prescription here in the states, for a reason, I see the use when advised by a Doctor to be wise.

I saw a mother make (yes make, because obviously the child didn't want to) pee in a bowl on the gorilla trail at Animal Kingdom and dumped it out in a bush......then put the bowl back under the stroller...this wasn't a potty, it was just a tupperware bowl.
Same trip, at Cosmic Rays I saw a mother trimming her childs toe nails at the table..

If the doctor prescribed them, you didn't have the flu, you had a bacterial infection, or the flu PLUS a bacterial infection. Antibiotics cannot do anything to a virus itself, but they're often prescribed when an infection occurs during or after a virus because your immune system is busy fighting the virus.

Not to get pissy about it or anything but I've watched CM's do *nothing* about guests who were behaving terribly, so I don't think that complaining to the CM's is necessarily going to help any particular situation.
I did complain about the obscene shirts, though, and they did take those kids away, but I don't expect the CM's to be "disney cops" and fix everything that's broken at Disney. Which, compared to the real world, isn't a lot;)

to be as blunt as possible... bottles with formula aren't the only things that babies are messy with when eating :rotfl: :rotfl:
if certain messes on shirts/ bras and whatnots are not cleaned up ...well there is a rather distinct odor that follows.....
I had a few of these accidents and being a bit of a prude, I would grab a few paper towels, wet them and retreat to the stall to clean up any messes. I also made sure to carry an extra change of clothes for ME in the diaper bag :rotfl:
I can only think that this poor lady had an extra large mess to clean up and had no other choice:rotfl2:

Do they even look in the hotel mirror before leaving the room?!?! :rotfl:
yeah the Mickey shirt they bought when they were 12 is adorable and should be saved but not worn when they are a 42 year old overweight man :rotfl:

at the magic kingdom, i would assume you can complain at city hall. if you complain about a specific employee, that employee will be notified about it. at disneyland we complained about a super rude CM at a restaurant once. and we've also gone to city hall to give compliments for certain employees too. not sure if you can do that at wdw or not but i know at DL you can. i think if CMs get a lot of compliments...they get rewarded somehow. not sure though.

Good post..you should see the people that come into the hospital and "demand" an antibiotic for a cold/flu..and some docs will prescribe them(at least they did back in the day, not so much anymore)) just to shut the patient up..This is the reason that many antibiotics aren't effective anymore and one of the reasons for the "superbugs" and other nasties(MRSA, VRE etc) that have been popping up. When you have a cold or the flu, really, the only thing for it is rest and waiting it out.

...also have seen quite a few of them drinking the water from various rides.
I can beat that.
I've seen parents fill up baby bottles from those attractions and attempt to give them to their infants.

Plus I read on another thread that they really don't change that water...just add to it as necessary, I am sure its filtered, but only for debris, and not germs or bacteria, as it is not meant for consumption!:scared1:

If there's one thing working at The World has taught me it's that many, MANY people do not think the same way I do.
But I assure you: I've seen it and on multiple occasions. And regardless of whether or not I'm actually working, I will say something to the guest before they give it to their child.

Don't forget dead animals...
As for everything else you wrote: yes, the water is pretty much just screened for debris. Additives include chlorine, dyes and other chemicals (Fabric Softener, for example, is added to the water as needed to reduce foam from soaps or detergents).
One thing I can confirm from my contacts in Frontierland: The water in Splash Mountain is considerably cleaner than in other water attractions, mainly because it has to be -- guests aren't going to get as wet in PotC or IaSW.

yeah it is a bit OT, but I'll listen to my doctor before I listen to anyones opinion on a BB. thanks.pirate:
Of course you should listen to your doctor! I don't think I suggested otherwise.
Thank you, Luvthemouse! That's exactly where I'm coming from.

Well, here it goes...no FLAMES please!
I was sitting on the bus going to the MK and a lady got on and sat next to me, and put her right foot up over her left leg and I got a real good look at her feet!! :sick: I thought I would vomit. She was wearing flip flops, and her feet looked like she never got a pedicure, or washed them for that matter. Her heals were black and thick gross dead skin, cracked feet....GROSS.... I may be a little high maintenance but I believe you should get a pedicure if your going to wear sandals or flip flops. I also use a foot cream every night to keep my feet looking good inbetween pedicures. If you can't afford the pedicure, do it yourself!

There ARE rules for wearing flip flops & other summer footwear! ;)
~~~~~I pledge to follow the Rules when I wear sandals and other open-toe shoes:
I promise to always wear sandals that fit.
My toes will not hang over and touch the ground, nor will my heels spill over the backs. And the sides and tops of my feet will not pudge out between the straps.
I will go polish-free or vow to keep the polish fresh, intact and chip-free. I will not cheat and just touch up my big toe.
I will sand down any mounds of skin before they turn hard and yellow.
I will shave or wax the hairs off my big toe. I won't wear pantyhose even if my misinformed girlfriend, coworker, mother, sister tells me the toe seam really will stay under my toes if I tuck it there.
If a strap breaks, I won't duct-tape, pin, glue or tuck it back into place hoping it will stay put. I will get my shoe fixed or toss it.
I will not live in corn denial; rather I will lean on my good friend Dr. Scholl's if my feet need him.
I will resist the urge to buy jelly shoes at Payless for the low, low price of $4.99 even if my feet are small enough to fit into the kids' sizes.
I will take my toe ring off toward the end of the day if my toes swell and begin to look like Vienna sausages.
I will be brutally honest with my girlfriend/sister/coworker when she asks me if her feet are too ugly to wear sandals. Someone has to tell her that her toes are as long as my fingers and no sandal makes creepy feet look good.
I will promise if I wear flip flops that I will ensure that they actually flip and flop, making the correct noise while walking and I will swear NOT to slide or drag my feet while wearing them.
I will promise to go to my local beauty school at least once per season and have a real pedicure (they are about $20 and worth EVERY penny).
I will promise to throw away any white/off-white sandals that show signs of wear...nothing is tackier than dirty white sandals...
And I agree that dirty feet in flip flops are gross. :scared:
But come on....why would someone want to get a pedicure if it's just going to be ruined by walking around WDW? What a waste of time and/or money. Save the pedicures for when you won't be walking miles and miles in the hot weather of Florida.
And feet are ugly...period. Dirty, clean, pedicured, non-pedicured...ugly and gross.
I couldn't agree more. I have an aversion to feet...anyone else's (except my kiddos!) and I can't stand for anyone to touch mine. Therefore, pedicures are out of the question! I do, however, keep my toenails nicely polished in the summer since I practically live in flip flops or sandals. BUT - I only wear Crocs or tennis shoes in WDW for comfort reasons...
Goody for you but why in the world would you expect everyone else who visits WDW to do this? I might get a pedicure once a year but that's because I enjoy it not because I care if other people have some hang-up about unpedicured feet. Those are your issues, not mine.
Eeek. I'm a BIG girl. If I got a Pedi before walking long distances for several days my heels would be split and bleeding after an hour. Rule number 1 is apparently don't be poor.
Do these strange feet rules apply to men?
I always wear flip flops during the summer and I refuse to get a girly pedicure. Growing up at the beach has rendered my feet hard and ugly. They're covered with hair and pretty much look like Hobbit feet. They have to so they match my legs.
Getting back on the subject. I saw a toddler sucking on a salt shaker once. Shudder.
The whole thing with flip flops is that they don't really give you any protection! Especially iin a crowd. I like to wear a good pair of vented hiking shoes, (might try crocs!) mainly because years ago I was wearing flip flops (not at disneyland) and had an accident (was hit by a bicycle), the result was that the tops and sides of my feet were scraped on the cement! felt (and looked) like I used steel wool to take off the skin. Every since then, I have been very aware of the danger of wearing footware tht dosnt give a little protection!
My only problem with Crocs is that they make my shins hurt. I probably walk strange in them, but if I wear them a long period of time, my legs hurt for days. (Of course, I'm also incredibly clumsy and probably should only wear sneakers because I'd lose any other kind of shoe or fall off of them.)
Some of the elderly that come in for surgery in my hospital-their feet would give you nightmares! Poor things, especially if they come from a nursing home, because they have to wait for a podiatrist to come and cut their toenails(especially if they are diabetic). Some of their toenails look like claws!
The lady you're talking about...I know when I wear my Crocs in Disney, my feet get dirty just from being in the parks. I do have a friend that does pedicures in a salon, and she said you'd be surprised at the people that come in with dirty, nasty, smelly feet. Maybe they want to get their money's worth? Yeah, we do too. We've learned from experience. The other footwear that we'll wear are the water shoes a lot of people will wear to the beach or to public pools. They're sort of like sneaker bottoms with a mesh top. The important part is that your toes are covered.
On our last WDW trip, we were getting on the plane in Austin when the woman in front of backed over my toe with her suitcase. YOWCH! I didn't realize how bad it was until I sat down to take a look. I agree about the blood. And of course, I was in the window seat of the plane and would have to crawl over my DH and a complete stranger in a full plane to get to the restroom. Luckily, I had tissues in my carry-on to help until we landed in Dallas. It didn't take off the entire nail, but a good portion of it. And I had just gotten a pedicure too. :rotfl:
:rotfl: I just want to put in my own 2 cents here - I am that girly girl with a pedicure most of the time! Granted, I am also a girl who spends her entire visit to WDW either in flip flops or barefoot (only in the hotel, don't freak!). To me, with my wide, flat and strangley always hot feet (oh and my heel spurs), flip flops are most comfortable! After each day in the parks my feet are pretty dirty and gross, which is why I don't bother with a pedicure before the trip! I give one to myself to tide me over (and am involved in some pretty serious feet washing while on vacation :)) and then get a REALLY good one when I get home!
and me too, I had a lady in a scooter run over my foot at AK, still wear the flip flops! if I wore sneakers, I would be in pain!
I'm with you. I've seen many a male and female wearing open-back shoes with hard, crusty, yellow feet. You don't have to PAY for a mani/pedi, I do them myself. A good foot file doesn't cost more than $8.00. It's like the bit about the feet: to be honest, I'm not that bothered by dirty feet unless they get up near my face (which, thank God, isn't often).
To be honest, I'm not that grossed out at the parks all that often. Which is not to say I don't occasionally see some things... but I don't see them far more frequently than I do.
This one was both gross and sad.
I was eating in the Electric Umbrella in EPCOT. It is a nice counter service place that sells burgers and such.
There was a family sitting next to us who were finished eating and didn't bother cleaning their table. They left their trays with some half eaten food on them. The table was close to ours, so I happend to notice this. Within seconds, another family sat down (it was a mom, dad and two kids). They started eating the left-overs of the other family.
They definitely did this before, because the transition was so smooth.
I tried not to look, but felt bad. They were eating so fast - I could tell they were hungry.
I didn't want to embarrass them, so I left a $20 bill on the my table and watched a little further away. Sure enough they took the bill. So hopefully they had a better meal the next day.
If they can afford disney? why can't they afford food? Hmm...maybe they spent everything to get to the parks...which is just poor money management.
I've known some frugal people in my life and I've known some poor people. I've also known some strange people. This situation has strange written all over it.
The frugal people still hit up the Disney parks but they still follow the frugal "techniques." Sharing the same cup, 4 people to a room, no churros, etc. I don't think even the most frugal would eat somebody's leftovers but then again it's a crazy world. As for the $20. You bet they'd take it. I would!
The poor people don't typically go to Disneyland. That's what the beach and Slip and Slides are for. I don't think they'd make the trip there and scavenge for food. They'd skip the trip and feed their family. Even the homeless know what it takes to survive and going to Disney World is not on that list. As for the $20. You bet they'd take it. I would!
That brings me to the crazy people. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that these people are likely oddballs. Their quick scarfing could be attributed to being hungry but I think it has to do with avoiding detection. Get in, do your crazy work, then get out of there fast before people can take a mental picture. People are weird. I have the right to my own opinion on the subject. But you're right, I don't know their situation. If you didn't have the means to feed your family...I don't see anything wrong with what they did. But if you are at WDW (which costs a somewhat hefty chunk of change) I don't see why you'd eat someone's leftover food. Just a bit odd to me.
And please refrain from jumping all over me for "judging" people. It's not like I'm going up to them and getting in their face about it or something. Besides, weren't you judging people earlier in this thread and calling them things like "high maintainence?" :confused3
Yeah I definitely thought it was weird. And the thought did cross my mind. Why the heck are they at Disney World and looking for scrapes of food. As someone else posted, they could have just been oddballs who were very frugal. For all I know, they could have been millionaires.
Then I started to think, hey maybe someone bought them tickets as a gift or they are down on their luck and didn't have enough for lunch. I didn't miss the $20, so it was all good.
This is off topic, but every Christmas they set up a small gift tree at my church where you have to pick a gift for a needy family and buy it for them. These are actual gifts the families request. One year the gift I had to buy was a DVD the movie "Ice Age". I thought it was weird how a needy family had a DVD player and I didn't. LOL.
I still bought it though.
well, how long ago was that? in recent years...dvd players have been super cheap....$15 or so. or maybe someone gave them that as a gift? haha..who knows. but i do love those gift trees. we have them all over out here every year (store, mall, etc.)
For all the cynical folks, here is another way to look at it. Let's say the family were just ecentric oddballs that were too cheap or very bad money managers. Then I guess you can say they got over on me for $20. Oh well.
But what if they were really hungry and had no money, then it's a win-win all the way around. Hey some people spend $20 a day on lottery tickets, so I look at it as money well spent.
Me neither. . . I guess I'm just in my own little world when I'm at the World:goodvibes But then again I've never seen socks fall out of a guys shorts or a guy dipping a hot dog in his salt filled belly button, because I think I would notice those things.:lmao: (BTW, how did you get close enough to determine he had salt in his belly button?)
I have seen the occasional non-flushed toilet and paper towels on the floor, etc. . . in the bathrooms, but to me Disney bathrooms are better than most, and more often than not, there is a CM in there, working her little heart out to clean up after everyone else.
Although I did not see this, one of my managers described this incident so beautifully to me.
I worked at Splash Mountain as a CP. I was out at either End of Line (fancy term for the greeter) or FastPass Return. Anyway, I see 2 managers go rushing up towards Thunder, one of them laughing hysterically and the other trying to get him to stop laughing.
One manager comes back, the one who was laughing, and tells me this lovely little story:
A man was over at the designated smoking area by Thunder with his hands down you-know-where and he was, well, let's just say he didn't need the clubs at PI to accomplish what he was trying to accomplish. I was MORTIFIED. A grown man doing THAT with children around?! :eek:
He was escorted out of the park. Rightfully so.
The SCARIEST moment while working at Splash was when I was in the station. 2 people got into a log and started screaming. I mean screaming at the top of their lungs! Another CM who was closer to them asked what was wrong. Turns out it was a giant cockroach. :scared1: I was counting my lucky stars I didn't have to see them as I have a bug and spider phobia that's second to none. A few hours later, I was back in station at dispatch and I took a tiny step back. And FELT a crunch. I knew before I even had to look. I stepped on a roach! :eek::scared1: It took all my will power to not start screaming and freaking out. I took my foot and flung it as far back as I could (while nobody in logs were going past, mind you).
To this day, I can still feel that crunch. EW EW EW EW.
I do that with the hats too. Big deal...haha. It's not gross unless you have lice or something.
I don't know about posting the photos. On a thread over in the Disneyland section, someone posted a picture of the back of some stranger. She was wearing very small/ill fitting shorts. It got taken down and the mod told people not to make fun of others. So if we do something similar here, the mods probably won't like it.
Personally, I think if people choose to go out in public and do/wear these things....we should be able to laugh all we want. I mean, in the photo that was taken down, you couldn't see the persons face or anything. But whatever. I guess I'm just evil.
I didn't make that post to be funny. The thread is the "grossest thing you've seen" and, even though I didn't actually witness it, it was the grossest thing I've ever heard of. Protein spills, parents changing kids' diapers in plain view, I've seen all that while working there AND on vacation. They're all equally disgusting, but my story was by far the grossest I've ever encountered.
I can't speak for the manager about why he/she was laughing, but the manager was the one who contacted security to escort him out. Even if the manager was laughing on the way there, that manager DID get him kicked out of the park. And probably taken to the police.
And yes. It scares me, too, when I would see parents not even caring about their children. I can't tell you how many times parents wanted me to "watch" their children while they went on Splash Mountain. Even when I explained how the rider switch passes work, they wanted none of that. Or how many parents leave their kids in strollers and they're nowhere to be found.
I think if you were going to want to show pictures, you would have to get a photobucket account or similar, and then give a link.
I can understand the mods point of view, you don't want pictures etc that you might not want kids to see, let alone what would happen if someone had their picture taken, and "discovered" it posted on the web without consent!
I don't want to turn this into a big debate here, BUT I saw them on TV as well. They also hate capitalism. I think if they were freegans, the only thing they would be doing at Disney is protesting them.
Here's the definition from the Freegan.info website:
The word freegan is compounded from "free" and "vegan". Vegans are people who avoid products from animal sources or products tested on animals in an effort to avoid harming animals.
Freeganism is a total boycott of an economic system where the profit motive has eclipsed ethical considerations...I won't bore you all with the details, you can go to the website if you are THAT interested. ;)
One more thing to ad, Ironically, these Freegans are mostly comprised of poor little rich kids with too much time on their hands. ALL of the group of young adults (21-25) I saw being interviewed on TV still lived with their parents. There parents were lawyers, Drs, Accounts, etc. The one young man's parents even bought a fridge to put in the garage because they didn't want him bringing 'found' food home and putting it in their kitchen. :rotfl2:
Sorry I don't have any gross WDW stories for you, but I'm enjoying (for lack of a better term:scared: ) the stories on this thread!:laughing:
The grossest thing, and I'm guessing has been said are parents that let thier kids go pee where ever they feel like it. It happens all over the parks.
The one thing that made me the most disturb, was a little girl maybe 4, was wearing a dress-kind of top, it came to her waist, with no pants/shorts on. A male was holding her, I'm guessing her dad but it was a large group so it could've been any one, but he had his arm inside her panties, he wasn't doing anything but holding her. It still made me feel really akward seeing it.
I don't understand it, if you go on Kali and get soaked, why do you think it's ok for your kids to go around naked. You're not why let them?? And I always here, well his clothes are wet, well you can purchase new dry items or you shouldn't have gone on it in the first place. Especially with character, all kids must be clothed (including infants) with shoes. What's so hard to understand about that?
It's funny you mention that. My wife and I once saw a kid who was probably about 5 or 6 years old trucking around in a tshirt and his underoos. No pants. He had his shoes on. Just no pants. I was eating in the Electric Umbrella in EPCOT. It is a nice counter service place that sells burgers and such.
There was a family sitting next to us who were finished eating and didn't bother cleaning their table. They left their trays with some half eaten food on them. The table was close to ours, so I happend to notice this. Within seconds, another family sat down (it was a mom, dad and two kids). They started eating the left-overs of the other family.
They definitely did this before, because the transition was so smooth.
I tried not to look, but felt bad. They were eating so fast - I could tell they were hungry.
I didn't want to embarrass them, so I left a $20 bill on the my table and watched a little further away. Sure enough they took the bill. So hopefully they had a better meal the next day.
Those people weren't poor; they're just WEIRD. You can't get into EPCOT and be poor, for cryin' out loud. I hope they used that 20 on a therapist...
I was wondering the same thing! How would they afford their trip? It was a nice thing that the poster did, but a strange situation.
It's sad but it's hard to trust people these days. There was a man sitting outside of a Subway restaurant, very unkept and dirty, with a sign that said will work for food. We felt sorry for him, bought him a couple sandwiches and drink, and he threw it back in our face saying he didn't want our stinkin' food, he wanted money.
Perhaps hey paid for the trip in advance and didn't get the dining plan. They then came and found out the quick serve places didn't have a dollar menu. My sister is going in May and her husband is adament they don't buy the dining plan. I keep telling them how expensive it is to eat but, they won't listen. I hope that they don't have to end up doing that! :scared1:
If you tend to hit up the quick service restaurants for most of your meals then the dining plan is a more costly alternative. We saved some cash by planning our own meals for our trip and did just fine. We don't typically eat dessert or appetizers and we didn't want to have to worry about where we could eat and where we couldn't. For us, not using the meal plan was a better option and we did end up saving money. I also recommend getting the refillable mug. If you're staying for more than 4 days and you like having coffee in the morning or hot chocolate or whatever, you can save a few bucks. Sure you have to lug around a mug from your hotel room to the dining halls but it didn't spoil our time at all. Check out some of the sticky threads about dining at the parks and resorts. We crunched the numbers on the dining plan and compared them to how we would eat if we didn't use it. We were pleasantly surprised.
I completely agree (obviously.) Sorry, I know it's off topic. But I wanted to comment. I think that if we'd had the dining plan...we would have eaten at table service places when we didn't really want to just so we could use the meals we paid for. Personally, the food at disney is just a secondary thing that I don't care about. I'd much rather grab a quick burger or salad at a counter service place and then be on my way. Also, I think the whole advance dining "reservation" thing is ridiculous. I don't know which park I'll be at on which day...let alone what time I'll be hungry or what I'll be in the mood for. And it's not really a "reservation" anyway. I've read that some people end up waiting 45 minutes or longer. No thanks. Not a good use of my time at WDW.
But hey...that's just me.
I always felt that way too. But after trip after trip to WDW of eating only CS meals, I got sick of it. I think since I have been so many times, now I am willing to try things I never wanted to waste time doing, like eating more than CS meals.
Well, I've only been to WDW in 1987, 1991, 1995, and 2008. And I probably won't make another trip there for a year or two (at least.) So there's no chance of me getting sick of the counter service food....haha. I'm sure if I had more time in the parks I wouldn't mind spending it in restaurants but that won't be happening anytime soon.
Then again, even if I went a lot I don't know if I'd get sick of it. I used to eat meals at Disneyland all the time (we lived 10 minutes away and went at least once a week) and I never got sick of the food there.
I can't tell you how many times parents wanted me to "watch" their children while they went on Splash Mountain. Even when I explained how the rider switch passes work, they wanted none of that. Or how many parents leave their kids in strollers and they're nowhere to be found.
Gross and funny at the same time - I saw a man walking towards me at MK with white lycra cycling shorts on. No, it gets worse! He had, how can I say this delicately, err, a rather large bulge at the front but it was all mishapen and knobbly. Now (honestly) I don't make a habit of casting my eyes southward but this was just mesmerising.
As he walked closer the bulge got lower and lower until eventually a pair of socks fell out of the bottom of one of the legs. I double-up laughing and he went very red, took the socks out and walked the other way :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:
What made it gross was that it was at the MK!!
This is a close memory from 1986 and the braless, tanned south american lady in a white crocheted top and short-shorts, teetering on heels around the Odyssey walkway in EPCOT. Chattering in a foreign language and gestering, everything shook like jello while she wobbled in stilettos. Our breastfed 12 mo. old son was confused and mesmerized.
Lately though, we sat across from a giant of a man in the Hunt Club (SSR). He had light cotton knit shorts and a tee shirt-he was sweat stained and his clothes were sticking. For the love of any diety - please have the TS restaurants add table cloths! What I sat across from was a scene from a National Lampoon movie.
I check myself in the mirror before I leave the resort...........
It's actually pretty darned good I must say. I also put it on sandwhiches. If you're not used to eating your food with it though I would recommend skipping it as finicky tummies tend to disagree with it.
While at Disney World last month I found myself reaching for it over and over but I had to pass every time since I didn't want to have to take a break for a stomache ache.
If you have an iron gut I recommend it. It's very good. Put it on everything.
My sister had the same problem working Fantasmic...parents wanted to take the strollers in so they wouldn't have to carry their sleeping child (heaven forbid, kid's not going to be asleep long anyway in Fantasmic she'd brightly point out) When she'd get it across to them that NO ONE, not even them, could bring their stroller in, they usually preferred to try to leave their kids in the stroller. When my sister got it across to them that no one watches the strollers during the show, many would get angry at the possibility of something happening to "their" stroller, but would usually finally scoop up their kids. There was only once that my sister had to threaten to call security to escort the woman out of the park because she started to WALK AWAY leaving her child in the stroller (after all of the conversation listed above). When there was a news story about the kid who was dehydrated outside of Pirates, I kept pointing out that there are probably several kids a day that this happens to, we just don't hear about them. Some people should definitely not be parents...:sad2:
At EPCOT's 25th we saw a similar thing as one of the previous poster described. My fiance and I were sitting down at Electric Umbrella watching for the rain to clear when we saw an older couple start eating from a tray with scraps left on it on top of a garbage can. Both of us sat stunned to say the least. I felt bad and confused all at the same time.
I wouldn't say this is really all that strange. Freegans aside (which I consider to be completely nuts) you'd be suprised what being raised during the great depression would do to a person. My grandfather always cleans his plate even when the food is miserable and we all know he scoffs at us if we leave anything on our plate.
I'm sure if you pay those folks a visit you'll find a hearty collection of old newspapers and TV Guides. There is no reason to feel bad or pity these people. It's a lifestyle choice fueled by a disdain for waste. I'm not saying I'd do it but I know where they're coming from.
If they had a "disdain for waste" (kudos for spelling that correctly, BTW!), they wouldn't be buying the tv guides and newspapers in the first place. That behavior's known as "hoarding", and I've seen it extend itself to food and other really odd behaviors.
When people display behaviors as detailed above that can possibly bring harm to themselves, like eating other people's leftover food, then it's a behavioral disorder, not just a lifestyle choice, IMO...
Hoarding is a disorder but there is a difference between being frugal and wasteful. Hoarders don't throw anything away. They even keep their garbage!
Older folks and people like the Freegans that are against waste do things like eat food that is left behind. Many of them do it quickly to avoid detection but some are far more proud of their decision to do so and are very animated about it to further their cause.
The oldies probably don't see anything wrong with finishing off somebody's food. It's not exactly unsanitary unless they're diseased then that might be a little gross. I don't think it has anything to do with being poor. If they were poor, why would they be at Disneyworld?
I guess they could have been senile. With respect to eating food that is left on a tray either at a table or on top of a trash can, there's nothing really wrong with it except that it's gross. I eat my wife's leftovers all the time. Granted I've put my tongue in her mouth.
You just reminded me of a small but gross one on my very first August trip.
On my first very hot August vacation, I went to go on Mickey's Philarmagic and it was packed. We were squeezed so tight in the waiting area right before the doors open to the theater. The smell of body odor was so bad, I felt like I was experiencing a new ride called "Living in an Armpit". It was pretty gross.
Thanks for refershing my memory of such a gross experience. LOL.
There's a different between summer clothing and hoochie outfits.
Is it as bad in Florida as it is in Anaheim? As soon as the weather goes above 75 the really, really short shorts and tube tops come out and I have to supress my gag reflex most of the time.
Be afraid. Be very afraid. :scared1: I've seen some CRAZY things on people and we usually go in April/May when it is warm but not August hot for sure. I, too, have seen women in their bras and one older, pooh sized lady in a bathing suit and white, totally see-through spandex shorts getting off Splash. I'd like to think that they just dress that way for the theme parks, which is bad enough, but, well, they got those clothes somewhere. I bet it isn't the first time they wore those outfits. Most of the ones dressed so inappropriately are also as red as a lobster.
To continue the thread with a gross non-Disney story. I used to manage a retail store, on weekends we were very understaffed, but I brought in a big box of doughnuts to make things go faster. We had so few employees that Saturday that only a few doughnuts were eaten. I left them out overnight and people had them again on Sunday, by this point they were stale and I had poked one and didn't want one. I saw others picking at them cutting one and splitting it and poking. Our warehouse guys were gross (like nose picking, no hand washing gross) and when I saw them picking them up and turning them over and putting them back, I tossed them box and all in the garbage. We had these giant trashcans in the kitchen without lids. I noticed when I locked up, there were coffee grounds and stuff on top of the box. Monday morning I came in later and saw a plate with two doughnuts left and some other employees finishing the rest. It seems the janitor came in Monday, saw the box and pulled out the doughnuts and set them out on a plate where they were promptly eaten. I didn't even know what to say. He acted like I was wasteful for throwing them out...
I left them out overnight and people had them again on Sunday, by this point they were stale and I had poked one and didn't want one. I saw others picking at them cutting one and splitting it and poking. Our warehouse guys were gross (like nose picking, no hand washing gross) and when I saw them picking them up and turning them over and putting them back, I tossed them box and all in the garbage. We had these giant trashcans in the kitchen without lids. I noticed when I locked up, there were coffee grounds and stuff on top of the box. Monday morning I came in later and saw a plate with two doughnuts left and some other employees finishing the rest. It seems the janitor came in Monday, saw the box and pulled out the doughnuts and set them out on a plate where they were promptly eaten. I didn't even know what to say. He acted like I was wasteful for throwing them out...
:scared: I work with this guy who is in his late forties. Very nice guy, but very sloppy and has horrible hygiene. He actually dosen't emit body odor, but my guess is he probably showers once a week.
It is a running joke at the office, the guy will eat anything that is leftover and I mean anything. At this point I really believe he has some sort of disorder. For instance, during Christmas time, the attorneys we work for send up lot's of goodies for us to eat. One of the box of chocolates when opened had all mold on it and was tossed in the garbage. This guy went and retrieved it and ate the entire box. Some of the theories around the office is that at one point of his life he was homeless and learned to eat from the garbage.
It takes all types, and I'm glad I'm not that type.
Another gross thing, guys with hairy backs. I suppose I should be happy when they're wearing T'shirts but some are so hairy, that they have a pelt poking out from the neckband. I'm not big into the metrosexual guys( men who get facials, fuss over their hair, yet they're straight) but I do wish the guys with hairy backs would get them waxed.:scared1:
I have video of a woman standing across the road from us while watching the Jammin' Jungle Parade. Her b00b$ were completely lopping out of her leopard print bathing suit (it was a one piece that she wore with shorts). I had a hard time concentrating on the parade with that in my field of vision.:rotfl2:
OK Morbidly wrong curiosity here, but have you posted this video on Youtube? Can we get a link? I know it's wrong, but I've obviously read this whole thread and would love to see at least one of these.
Let me start this post with this warning. For those that are unaware of it, any ride that is "in the dark" at WDW has nightvision cameras for safety, and a CM somewhere is watching those screens, so they can see you and what you think you're getting away with.
A friend of mine who worked at the TTA while I was a CM told me this story. While she was watching the cameras, she saw a woman, how should I put this, "giving her husband an extra special kiss". She made an annoucement over the ride's speakers that there were cameras in the dark zones, and the woman quickly stopped. My friend called security and they were waiting to take the couple on their merry way when they finished their ride.
Over zealous PDA aside, who would think that "THAT" is ok anywhere in public, much less a family theme park?
I saw several very disturbing things.
I have a very close friend who is a CM (he is an actor in the Nemo show). He took me backstage and underground.
I saw Minnie walking around without her costume head. It was a guy in the costume. I was crushed.
Then he took me to his room where they were letting him live and I saw Belle walking around with a cigarette and drinking a beer out of the bottle. She was a little on the wild side.
I saw other things, but it would be going into the rated R category.
Let's just say I will never look at the characters the same way again.
When we stayed at the Poly in 2005, DD was 2 at the time....she woke up around 1 in the morning, and to keep her from waking up everyone else, and get her to go back to sleep, I put her in her stroller and headed out for a walk. As we were walking down buy the beach, I saw a couple in a hammock all covered up...not sure exactly how "cozy" they were, I just headed up another path. It WAS December, so they could have just been under the blanket to stay warm, but I wasn't gonna stick around and find out.
They call it backstage for a reason.
I'd love to share some of the things I've seen but this is a family board and I'd get a big glass of bannination for my troubles. I'm sure most everybody has seen the risque picture of Minnie getting fresh with a couple of other characters.
Hmmm, they don't allow smoking in the utiladores. just outside backstage. No non-employee is allow there except in tour or escorted. Alcohol would simply get the CM terminated. Where was your friend living in the Magic Kindgom?
I also understand that the CM's in costume are in a special area when getting "fresh air" that no one, except them and the assistants are allowed.
So true. I was at the beach once and a whole family "unleashed their wares" so to speak. They were from sweden or something like that based on the accents. I was young (20ish) and totally grossed out.
Yeah...your story had some obvious holes in it. The beer was a tip-off for me. But you WOULD see people smoking (outside though) and it's possible for a short dude to be in a Minnie costume.
I don't know which previous posts were yours. But did you post the one about people dipping their baby's bottles in the water on rides like pirates and filling them? Because that one sounded made up to me.
I was a CM too, and I have to second Buzz on that one. People are that stupid at least at Disney. I have seen someone try to drink water from the rides, because it was "free". He was also under the impression that you have to put quarters in the water fountains.
There is a running joke, that when you put your fingers in the scanner at the front gate, it sends an electrical signal up to your brain that gives you temporary stupidity. That way you'll spend all this money in one day and not realize it until you get home and the "stupid ray" has worn off.
We CMs and former CMs have seen guests do things that you wouldn't believe. You would think that no one could every be that dumb or crass, but it happens every day. Sometimes I wondered how some people had managed to live to adulthood with how insanely idiotic their actions at Disney were.
OMG - surely no one thinks idiocy is limited to "actions at Disney." If you need proof, see http://www.darwinawards.com/
Disney just concentrates the idiocy so the masses can enjoy it.
When me and my Dh went on our honeymoon. When we were at Blizzard Beach. Walking to the pool we passed a woman with her whole family. SHe was wearing shorts and a bra for her swim top. She was wet so she had been in the pool already. We were shocked. This wasn't a nicely padded bra, but a thinly made one. It was bizarre to say the least. Anyway I see this HUGE FLORIDA COCKROACH :eek: crawling across the table. I am absolutely terrified of roaches and here in Nebraska, we don't have the huge four-inch and larger flying roaches like they have down there. I couldn't even speak! I yanked DH's sleeve and pointed at the roach and he tried to swat it away, which just propelled it across to another couple at our table and that guy killed it and got the server. The server didn't even act like it was a big deal... just cleaned it up with a napkin and acted like it was no big deal. :sad2: Needless to say, DH and I and the other couple couldn't eat any of the food after that and ended up just leaving.
Okay, I have one. We were at Blizzard beach last week just lounging and watching the kids from a chair toward the back of the area by the wave pool. I noticed a mom changing the diaper of her child about 2 yo. She takes the diaper off and then proceeds to walk with her child to the poll and ............ yep you guessed it......... rinsed her bottom. :sick:
I just sat there with my mouth open in total shock. My dh asked what was wrong and I was mute for a couple of seconds but then explained. Ewwwww!
Also down the "lane" from this family was another lady. She was on her stomach and propped up on her elbows reading a magazine. I commented to my dh that the lady's top must be pretty far down to show that much skin. I thought she just had her straps down so no tan line. Well, my dd needed me so I got up and - lo and behold - got a glimpse of both of her "girls"! I just don't get some folks! :confused3
Got a few today from the Animal Kingdom.
At the Nemo show, waiting for it to begin. I look over and see a man heading for the exit doors with what is clearly a large used diaper in his hands -obviously he was heading to throw it out. All I could think was "I really, really hope he didn't change that child right there in the seats", but he probably did. I mean, if you were going to step outside to get rid of the diaper anyway, why not take your child outside to the restroom that is right there?:confused3
Then,while waiting for the second show (saw it once in the morning and once in the afternoon) the gentleman sitting next to me asks me a question, so I turn to look at him, and one aisle over, directly in my line of sight, I see a child's naked bottom, and his father pulling a new pair of underwear onto this maybe 5-6 year old. I presume the child had an accident that needed to be addressed, but the poor boy had nothing on but a long shirt and the show was already crowded with people, so anyone could have seen! I must have had a horribly shocked expression on my face, because the gentleman sitting next to me who had asked me the question gave me a funny look, lol.
And maybe the grossest of all - I'm walking through the park by Everest, and I see a mom with her two sons, one of whom is an infant of about one in his stroller. The older boy, who was maybe 4 was eating a Popsicle and dropped it on the ground. The mom picked it up, looked at it for a second, and then offered it to the baby! (who wisely turned his head away and refused it). Now, I've heard of the 5 second rule, but ewwwwww! People have walked all over that ground, etc., why would you even think to do that??
There was this kid who fell and broke his nose at Fantasmic and blood was gushing everywhere. Also when your at Epcot, near the TestTrack pavilian there is a sort of hidden bridge, it leads to a restroom. On the bridge there is a huge plant where someone could easily be hiden. Just saying.
OMG! I've been waiting for the opportunity to share this one!
In Dec. of 2007, we were at MK watching the night parade. We had a good spot to watch, but what happened in front of me distracting me so much that I didn't see as much of the parade as I wanted to!
This girl, maybe 13 or 14, was right on the curb with a great view. She had a digital camera with the viewer display to see the pics she took. She was LICKING (thoroughly) the viewer. :confused3 Up, down, sideways. Every which way. I was SO confused. Then, she licked off the clear plastic thing that was covering it (that comes on your camera when it's new). Then she played with it in her mouth and then used her tongue to try to put it back on. Then she started licking the front of the camera.
She really went to town on this camera. To this day, it still boggles my mind. I couldn't take my eyes off of her :eek: -it was the strangest thing I've ever seen.
The camera licking one is just odd.
This is at DL at the tables near the Jedi Academy stuff.
We were walking through the eatery section that was full of people eating their lunch, where we saw these two women with a boy who was around 4 or 5. He was standing on top of the table in full view with out any pants or undies on and they were trying to get him to piss in an empty coke bottle.
OK I have one. July 1998. My sister and I were staying off site. We got on the bus, cant remember what park we were going to, MK maybe? :confused3 Anyways, this guy comes on the bus and then start coughing a lot. To me he looked like he wanted to be sick. And I was right. A minute later he ran off bus and vomited. Everyone could hear and see him. And what was worse, I had just ate breakfast and I felt like I was gonna be sick for seeing him vomit. Luckly I was able to compose myself and not get sick. And then after the guy got sick, he had the nerve to get back on the bus! I wanted that bus ride to go very quickly so I could get off, before he vomited again. Luckly, he didnt anymore during the bus ride and right after we got off.
I did see someone throw up once at Disney but I've seen and heard stories of throwing up so many times that it has to be pretty spectacular for me to call it really bad.
Probably the grossest thing I saw was at one of the Pop or All Star resorts in the dining area. I was going to get some ketchup and there were some kids at one of the condiment sections. One of them had one of those paper cups filled with mayonaisse. As soon as he noticed me he started dipping his finger in the mayonaisse and slurping it up, eyeing me the whole time like he thought I was about to take it from him. I finally just went to another condiment section and got my ketchup there.
I wasn't there for this, but a CM told me the story. I was eating at Casey's and chatting with one of the workers, and asked him what the most shocking thing he'd ever seen at the MK was, and this was the story he told me:
Apparently some foreign visitors missed the rules about the 'family' atmosphere at Disney and decided that MK was a 'clothing optional' resort. So they hopped over one of the little fenced-in grass areas in the Hub and stripped down and were joyfully sunning themselves in full view of all the visitors. He said that all the CM's in the area were so shocked that no one quite knew who was supposed to go over and tell them to cover up. He said that when finally someone went to attend to the situation, the guests were very indignant, pretended they didn't understand English, but finally relented and covered up. The best part of the story was he finished it with 'and later that day I got bit by a duck!!'
Yeah, because THAT was the real kicker of the story......
(I have NO idea what I would do if I saw naked people at the MK, I really don't. Not sure if it qualifies as a 'gross' story, but it's certainly shocking!)
I love this tread so I thought I would finally share my story. We did the Grand Gathering at the Animal Kingdom, it was excellant. One of the little girls in our party (6 girls under 6) was not feeling well. As we were sitting on the bus waiting to leave AK for the hotel, she said she thought she was going to throw up. Her father grabbed her and headed for the door, we were in the back of the bus. Anyway, half way down the bus aisle, she threw up all over the place, including the head of a boy (12yo) who was sitting with his family waiting to leave. He took the brunt of it. It was literally dripping off his head as he leaned forward. I can still see and smell it. To this day, his intestinal fortitude was the most impressive I have ever seen as he did not even gag let alone throw up, which I thought I was going to do once I saw it all happen. They tried to clean the bus but the smell was incredible. They finally switched buses for us. Needless to say the father and mother kept apologizing to the boy and his family, gave him money to get new clothes, etc. Defintely goes down as the grossest thing I have ever seen at WDW.
I have one that happened on Mission Space. I talked my family into riding on the more intense side against their better judgement. My mom sat down in her chair and started pulling down the shoulder restraint. All of a sudden she stopped it halfway down, and was like someone threw up on this. Unfortunately when you pull the restraint down it locks there, so she was stuck, trying hard to not get the puke on her shirt. Luckily, I hadn't sat down yet, so I was hollering like an idiot for a CM to not start the ride. :rolleyes2 Finally one came and unlocked the restraints. My poor mom had it all over her hands. Needless to say my family would only agree to go on the mild side after that. What I don't understand is how someone can puke down the front of them and not let a CM know the ride needs to be cleaned? Or how did someone not notice someone walking out with puke down the front of their shirt?
**side note** I was a little disappointed in the CM's during this situation. Not a single one apologized for this (I realize it was not their fault, but an "I'm sorry this happened" would have been nice) and then they made us leave the ride and get back in line. It was the fast pass line, but after waiting for an hour in the original line, having my mom get puke all over her hands, and then having to wait a half hour in the fast pass line (only the mild side was running since they were hosing off the intense side), we weren't feeling very "magical."
I don't think there is a way to have you cut in front of the line over on the other side of mission space. I think they could have held you by the ride on the fast side, but to get you over to the other side in front of everyone else would have been pretty difficult, I think. The CM's that work it would know better. I have very rarely, if ever, in 45 trips, seen somebody brought to the front of a line at Disney...
Lastest gross post for me: Vero Beach two weeks ago, I stepped on and totally crushed a frog in my bare feet :scared1: . I was looking up at the architecture instead of where I was walking and it was the grossest, squishiest, snap crackle pop ever. I felt very bad, I really like frogs and other critters.
And I couldn't freak because my two daughters were walking with me-my husband heard me gasp and he's like, what? And I'm like, don't say anything, just keep them walking, and I ditched off to the left to run down to the beach to wash the frog guts off my toes (it got in between).
I needed an adult beverage after that...:idea:
I hear ya!!!! we were there last year and I think it was Brazilian school trip week or something :confused3: absolutely hundreds of them in very large groups, pushing past people, line jumping, very rude!! My DD then 4 was looking at costumes in one of the stores, when 3 girls about 15/16 years old barged her out of the way and she fell to the ground. I was not happy :furious: I can't remember what I said to them exactly, but they left the store pretty quickly!
Yes, i think rude people should be banned at Disney.Once, a whole bunch of these students come trampling over and knock down my kids who were 8 and 12
my twelve year old gets pushed into a puddle, immediatly gets up, and starts swearing and the students so colourfully :cool2: that the students start swearing at him. My 8 year old is crying her eyes out, and eventually the students push down my 12 year old and run off. :eek: :eek: :eek: I call a CM and report this. Man, i was so ticked. we calmed down, got an ice cream, and continue. i mean, wear did my 12 year old learn that. im gonna guess school. But i really hate those students:mad: :mad: :mad: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious:
I make it a point not to take observation of things like this, but I had one sight that will always stand out as I found it gross.
I can tell you the basics, but there is more to this, but I have to keep it clean for the Disboards.
I realize people come in all shapes and sizes, and we all have different ideas of what is okay and what isn't, but there are some things that are just not acceptable in public. A woman in her late 50's, about 50 lbs overweight was walking around MK is the most bizarre clothing, but it was kind of a gross sight......okay, not kind of, it was.....
She was wearing VERY thin and short white shorts and a VERY thin white tank top with no bra. She pulled the straps off her tank top and put them below her arm pits. Half of her breasts were exposed.
Now, the gross part......her breasts (and I am not kidding) went down to her belly button if not the bottom of her stomach. Her shorts were see-through and it was obvious that she was not wearing underwear of any kind. She had just gotten off of Splash and she was soaked, you could see everything and I do mean everything. So, she was waiting in line for Big Thunder Mountain and let's just say that she had her hands on those see-through spots doing things that made us leave the line.
And that is all I will say. If you want specifics or cannot figure out what I am talking about, you will have to PM me. ;)
This sounds very familiar to the lady I saw at MK last Memorial Day weekend. We were on our way to get in line for Pirates of the Carribbean, when my son gasped. I looked up and in front of us was a lady who looked to be in her late 40's, about 5'6, who had to have weighed more than 250. There is nothing wrong with that, but she was wearing a pair of lime green terry cloth shorts that not only did not cover her "cheeks", but were completed wedged all the way into her crack. Her entire bare behind was exposed. No underwear. On top she was wearing a white sports bra-type top, also about three sizes too small, and that was it. So, her entire rear end, enormous belly, and virtually her entire breasts were exposed. I could NOT believe she was allowed in the park exposed in such a way. Of course she got in line in front of us at Pirates.
Oh my.......that is not the kind of scenery you are looking for when going through a line queue...ick.
Never had anything gross experienced while at WDW, but we did get some rude school group in front of us. My dh and I were on our honeymoon, and it was May, during the band concerts that they do with the schools there (not sure of the official name). Part of a group was in front of us on Splash Mountain, and started gesturing wildly to someone behind us. This kid (teenager) shoved through the lines to get to their group. Ok, I understand, however, please be courteous. My dh has NO tolerance for rudeness and said something to the kid. The adult with the group was rude back to him and I was kind of shocked. The people behind us went off on my dh, saying something like "haven't you ever been excited to be at WDW?" My dh responded with a remark about not being rude, but understanding excitement. These kids were in the same log as us, and this common-sense challenged teen stuck his head into the water on the ride to "cool off". Erm, after reading about the nastiness of the water, not to mention the fact that he could have gotten his head lopped off somewhere along the line, can we say "duh"?
We are going in June, and now I am going to be armed with purell, disinfecting wipes and various assorted body armor. :scared:
Sidenote - I have small kids, but I would never change them on a table. My dh has suggested this in the past when we have gone somewhere that should be equipped with changing tables in the restrooms and aren't, but I can't bring myself to be that inconsiderate to other diners. He has a mean streak, that dh of mine. :rolleyes1
My son kept wanting me to surreptitiously take her photo, but I assured him that was a magical moment I didn't care to have permanently memorialized. I think her shorts were doing that because she was wet (I guess she'd just gotten off a wet ride, because her hair was wet too), but still her clothes just flat did NOT fit her. Her shorts were destined to be hiney floss, wet or not. :rotfl:
I was waiting for the tram back to the parking lot at AK when a family consisting of a mom and dad, a baby of about 1-2 months old in a carrier, and who I assume were their friends walk up to the row next to me. At first, I pay them no attention as I hear the mother talking to the baby who was in the carrier at her feet, saying things like "Who's a happy baby?". etc. I look over, and I notice she has taken her shoe out of her sandal and is waiving it less than 1" from the baby's face while she's talking to him!
Maybe it's just me, but why would you put your sweaty (likely smelly) bare foot that you've been walking around in all day next to your baby's face? She did it like three times before she caught the horrified look I was giving her, and stopped!
Today I was at Animal Kingdom standing on line for Festival of the Lion King. There was a woman standing there who had to have been in her 50's. She was wearing a skin tight cami. It was also partially see through. And of course she wasn't wearing a bra. It was a sight that I really didn't ever need to see.
I was in MK this week waiting to meet another DIS-er in front of the Country Bear Jamboree. There was a famiy of 4 sitting on those wooden seats built around the tree right outside of the Frontierland pin store. The man was eating a turkey leg. The woman either was having trouble eating it off the bone, or didn't want to get messy, so he would rip off a chunk of meat & transfer it to her mouth through a big, long, wet, kiss. This happened over & over, right in front of the kids. It was like a car addicent - I was mortified but couldn't look away! I don't know if they were trying to be romantic, practical or what - but it was totally animalistic to me! It reminded me of when a mama bird chews up food & then spits it into the mouths of the baby birds....
Along those lines - while waiting in a very hot, very long line for Kilimanjaro Safaris this week the little boy near us had to go, so his mom stood close to him & told him to pee while standing in line, facing into the trees. Didn't even try to lower her voice or hide the fact that he was doing this. UGH! I understand it was a long wait but she had other family members with her, I don't see why she couldn't have excused herself from the line with the boy to find a restroom & then came back in line. I'm really surprised no one said anything to her. We were all exhausted & hot & melting, maybe no one really cared. It was just plain gross. My boys pee outside in our woods on our property all the time, but in a long, hot, public, crowded line where people were body-to-body? Blech.
Oh and by the way - even after reading this entire thread - I STILL USED THE WATER FOUNTAINS!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:
went to pop 2 weeks back. my 5 yr old daughter & 3 yr old son went playing in the kiddie pool. when we were in the room afterwards, there was a piece of feces plastered to my daughter's armpit area that came from the pool.
called the desk & think they had to close it down.
Just recently I had the pleasure of the "nude foriegn tourists" changing next to me while I sat on a bench outside of Test Track. Granted they were children, but they were older children, maybe 5 and 12. And it wasn't a quick change, they were stripped down to nothing after playing in the fountain and just hanging out for a looong time about 2 feet from me. I'm a mother and am not grossed out by the sight of a naked child. It just wasn't an appropriate place. It was very busy with people and any pervert could have been getting quite a show. I'm well aware that americans as a whole aren't as open as say europeans with nudity. But I really felt the need to move. It was the whole, "you're nude, I don't know you, and you're invading my personal space" thing.
I was in MK this week waiting to meet another DIS-er in front of the Country Bear Jamboree. There was a famiy of 4 sitting on those wooden seats built around the tree right outside of the Frontierland pin store. The man was eating a turkey leg. The woman either was having trouble eating it off the bone, or didn't want to get messy, so he would rip off a chunk of meat & transfer it to her mouth through a big, long, wet, kiss. This happened over & over, right in front of the kids. It was like a car addicent - I was mortified but couldn't look away! I don't know if they were trying to be romantic, practical or what - but it was totally animalistic to me! It reminded me of when a mama bird chews up food & then spits it into the mouths of the baby birds....
Okay- you win. That is the official grossest thing EVER. Can we stop this thread now please. :rolleyes1 Because I still can't stop reading it. popcorn::
