On the way to the Trafford Centre today in the pouring rain with DH, heard on the radio that Mr Brown is calling for us all to stop having foreign holidays and stay in Britain to "Save the Environment".

So come on how many of you are going to cancel :rotfl: Too late for us we have already paid :lmao:

We've taken holidays in this county for many years, only ventured abroad on about 5 occasions! So if everyone stays here we can start going abroad with less crowds. Suits me!

He can get stuffed - I am fed up of being told what to do by this Government!!!!!

If he is taking more money in tax for going abroad in the first place why doesnt he use that money for better ways for improving the environment.

Plus wont he be going abroad a lot more than us as he is the PM? Talking about double standards:sad2:

Exactly what I was thinking! I bet we will still here the words "Gordon Brown was on holiday with his family ......" many times in the future, not to mention the "Business trips" to US etc. Double standards me thinks!

Tashas mum, as you say too late we have paid too! :lmao:

I nearly spit my coffee out when I saw the title of this thread! Beloved is not the word I would use to describe him...

Anyway...i'll stop taking my annual holiday abroad when all these sanctimonious politicians stop going to their myriad of overseas conferences, summits, and state visits each year at tremendous expense and with all their lackies following, leaving a carbon print the size of Oklahoma on the environment.

Nuff said... :goodvibes

Well, I'm sat here in the dark using the laptop to reduce my carbon footprint - does that excuse me two trips stateside this year?! :lmao: As others have said - major double standards, I will still be going to Florida as often as I can!

Plus, I still haven't got over the fact that we didn't get to choose our own Prime Minister.....

The answer is simple - we will all have to move to Florida and live there. I know that will be hard but .......................:rotfl2:

The only way that governments will change our behaviour is to keep upping the taxes on flying until it becomes unaffordable. This is obviously not an attractive proposition to the majority of voters or businesses and so nothing much will ever change.

These appeals are all about style over substance and making tokenistic gestures.

But then again those that go on the holidays tend to be the ones who are contributing mostly to the coffers of the Country!:scared1:
