View Full Version : Amex White Glove Priority Palo Ressies!

Well, I finally figured out how to use the "priority" Palo reservation perk in the Amex White Glove Treatment Adventure Vacation Package. It's great! I called my Amex TA, who really didn't know anything. I then called the Castaway Club who told me that my TA should have rec'd a fax or letter that they needed to fill out w/my preferences and then return. Well, I called my TA and passed along this info and about an hour later I rec'd a call directly from Debbie at DCL who took my Palo reservations! I am very pleased and excited not to have to rush around after boarding and stand in line to make this reservation. For those who don't know, the "Adventure Package" costs $149, and the perks include $250 on board credit (with that perk, I don't know why everybody who is planning on paying w/an Amex card doesn't take advantage of the Adv. Pkg), priority ressies at Palo, and a choice of the flex feature (we chose the free character breakfast at WDW).

Can someone explain the Adventure package? What cruise length is it available on? Is it available for the Wonder cruises?
MTMom

It's available on the 7 night land/sea (which is either 3 or 4 day Wonder), or the 7 night Magic cruises.
Everyone who pays for their DCL cruise with their Amex cards gets the White Glove Treatment, but to get the "Adventure Package" you have to pay an additional $149. I'm not 100% for sure it's still available, but you can call Amex Travel Svcs at 1 800 461 8484.
The Adventure Package includes all the regular perks you receive with the White Glove Treatment (discounts on Disney merchandise, theme park tours, restaurants, Castaway Cay rentals, etc) plus $250 on board credit, a flex feature (we chose the free character breakfast), priority ressies at Palo, a memory book, and some other stuff).

I had read somewhere that if you were getting a special like Springtime Magic- that you were not able to do this. I that is the case that is why no one uses it

Sorry - just to clarify - can you get advance Palo ressies simply as part of the WHite Glove treatment or do you need to buy the Adventure package to get advance ressies?

You have to have the Adventure Package for priority reservations.

Can you get the Adventure package if you paid with an American Express card, but did not book with an American Express Travel agent?
What do you get with the White Glove treatment?
Thanks for everyone's help!!

Thanks for your help!!! My travel agent is checking on the Adventure package. I called the Castaway Club # about the White Glove treatment and they said you have to put the deposit and the final payment on an Amex card. I paid the deposit with cash, so I guess we don't qualify. Oh well!!
Please post what your TA tells you! I called several times, both AmEx and Disney, and kept getting conflicting answers. For me, the bottom line seems to be that because I have the "Kids Fly Free" promotion, I was not eligible for the Adventure package/White Gloves. There are some other restrictions, I believe -- you have to book a veranda stateroom, etc. I did book a veranda, but was otherwise ineligible.
Please let us know what your TA tells you. I have also heard that anyone paying with AmEx (maybe platinum AmEx) gets White Glove treatment, even if you do have another Disney promotion (like Kids Fly Free). Does anyone know the facts?

Although those who have other special promotions such as "Kids Fly Free" etc and may not qualify for the "Adventure Package", I believe that ANYONE who pays for their trip w/an Amex card gets the White Glove Treatment and it doesn't cost anything, it's simply a perk of Amex. The "Adventure Package" costs $149.

Hello,
My husband just booked the adventure package today. He originally called DCL but was told to call our TA because she has to do it. Anyhow, she called and booked the package but we did pay our deposit with the Amex and plan on using it for the entire trip on board the ship. The TA did not tell us that there was other special features we had to have such as a verandah and such but we do have one anyway.
We paid $157.00 for the package and for that we will be receiving:
$250.00 shipboard credit
Ressies at Palo's for dinner and the Champagne Brunch
Discounts at one of the shops on the ship if purchasing over $75.00
A beach bag (something like that)
A photo opportunity with a disney character
Discounts on motorized vehicles rentals at Castaway Cay
I'm not sure if there is anything else because my husband talked to them.
I also had called a few weeks ago inquiring about the Amex cardholder white glove treatment and was given the run around. Thanks to you devoted Disney fans I just print out the e-mails and bring them to my TA. I think Disney had changed a lot of their packages this year and they are not straight with them yet. I hope I helped a little.

Are you taking a 3 day, 4 day or 7 day cruise? If a 3 or 4 day, I wasn't aware that they offer a champagne brunch? What gives?
Canuk
01-29-2002, 06:28 PM
I am taking the 7 night Eastern cruise 02-02-02.
I'm not sure what happens on the 3 and 4 night cruises.
This will be my first cruise so I have been doing all my research on websites and things like that.
I actually found out about the Champagne Brunch through this website somewhere.

Are you getting a promotional price for this cruise- like Sunshine Sailaway. That would clear up quite a bit of confusion.

Is the cost $149 per person or per cabin?

I would like to see more answers too. I have Springtime Magic Rates and was told I couldn't add on any of the AMEX packages. Has anyone else been able to get AMEX packages along with a discounted cruise?
Thanks,
Pam

No, you can't combine any special offers (other than the Early Booking Bonus) with the Adventure Package from Amex. The $149 charge is per cabin.

I spoke with the Castaway Ressie's office...for Castaway return cruisers.
This is what she said as far as AmEX Caribbean Magic Package.
1.You need to pay with your AmEx Platinum card,
2.only available with rooms with a veranda,
3.CC members will get a $300 ship board credit, float rentals, Palo ressie's , 1 beach chair bag, collector's pins, 1 8x10 photo opportunity with character
4. all for $60 dollars. This is per stateroom cost not per guest.
Of course, you forfiet the $200 CC return shipboard credit.
This of course makes this as clear as mud for me, our TA said it was $150 per person and not available for our cruise. The Castaway ressie office said it is available with a platinum card for $60 dollars, $150 for other AMEX cards.
Would love to hear what everyone else says.

Is this the same as the Caribbean Magic Package?
MTMom
01-30-2002, 05:28 PM
Well.....I guess I'll be calling my TA. I have a Platinum Amex card and I paid $149. Seems to me I should only have paid $60!

Just wanted to clear up some miscommunication and let everyone know that my husband had booked the Carribean Magic Package and it includes everything 1karen mentioned above. We paid $157 as mentioned previously and we have the regular Amex card.
Sorry to confuse everyone.

Does just paying for the cruise with your AmEx card get you anything? I have used my AmEx to pay for nights at WDW and received a fanny pack and discount on Dinner show and other little White Glove discounts. How about the cruise?

Does anyone know for sure if you had to pay your deposit with AmEx to get this? I also paid my deposit in cash but will be paying for the rest on AmEx and be using it on the cruise. Will I still qualify for the White Glove Treatment? I would want to purchase the Adventure Package.

It was my understanding it was $157 for first time cruisers or those who rebook past the limit for CC members. It was $60 if you are rebooking within the time limit. Hope this helps.

Canuk - Are you in a verandah room?

Can you just purchase the Adv. Pkg?
Is it possible to just purchase the Adv Pkg with a American EXpress Card? And not pay for the Cruise with your AE Card.
Have fun on your Cruise Canuk! From a neighbour in Leamington, Ont.:smooth:

For the American Express programs (White Glove, etc) You must purchase your cruise entirely via AMEX. That includes, deposit and final payment going on the AMEX card. :)
MickeyCanada

Hi Carol - Do you know if you have to be in a verandah for this booking or can you be in any category?
KarenNY

I was told the AMEX perks were available only for Cat 4-7.

AMEX and DCL seem to love to confuse everyone!
There are 3 AMEX packages.....
If you simply pay with your AMEX, you get the White Glove Treatment which includes...
10% off Treasure Ketch over $75
10% off rentals at Castaway
Free bridge tour if and when they start again
Carribean Magic is only available to folks with a real Platinum Card (the one you pay $200-300 year for - the Platinum Cash Rebate cards do not work for this) This includes a shipboard credit and a few other things.
Adventure Package - As described above - You pay $150-$160 and get a shipboard credit and Palo reservations.

My travel agent finally called me back....
You have to book the entire cruise using your american express card...deposit and final payment.
Only 25 cabins are allowed to book the Adventure Package per sailing.
I don't know if you have to book a specific category or not.
4u2dream

Only 7 day cruise
I was told today that you can only get the Adventure Pkg if you were booked on the Magic or Land /Sea booked thru Disney. Bummer for 3-4 day Wonder cruise only people.
Canuk
02-01-2002, 07:15 PM
MickeyCanada, yes we do have a verandah. Room 7066 and I leave in less than 12 hours.
Someone mentioned above that the Carribean Magic package could only be booked with a platinum Amex card but we booked it and we only have the regular card.
As I mentioned before I think Disney keeps confusing their packages themselves. I guess it also depends if you call them directly or if you go through your travel agent.
