View Full Version : Am I the only one who's never eaten at Palo?

We've done two cruises on the Magic and we've never done the Palo ressie scramble! Are we weird? From all the posts I've read, it seems like a "must do" but we've never felt that we lost out because we liked all the meals we had (even at Parrot Cay) and loved the company of our table-mates! I should mention that we have a DD (10) who is happy to either eat with us or go to the Lab so we never had to choose!
We're thinking a Western 7 day in August - should I line up for a dinner ressie? What about Brunch and High Tea? Is it worth the extra planning (We're not big on forward planning! More wake up and wing it!)

We've done two 7-days and neither time was I able to convince my DW Sue that we needed to eat at Palo. Even Pete could not convince her (although I think that he might have softened her up a bit). Perhaps on our 3-day cruise this fall I might convince her that we NEED to make Palo ressies.

Nope! We are on The Wonder right now and were unable to get ressies........ but we have loved the other restaurants so far.

We've been on 3 cruises (#4 coming up in May) and have never been to Paolo's. Just don't feel the need to go; athough I have heard it's great.

3 cruises and no Palos. No. 4 is March and we won't go. We have dinner with our family each night. It is the only time we see all of them during the cruise. Kathy

We didn't go to Palo's on our cruise in June either. Like the others we had dinner with our DD and DS, sometimes the only length of time we would see the on that day! We just didn't feel the need to do all the rushing around to try and get ressies, we just went with the flow and ate wherever we happened to want to that day. Enjoyed it more that way.:smooth: :bounce:

We ate at Palos on our 7-d, not that impressed. We really felt like we missed the fun going on downstairs, and the food wasn't any better to us. HOWever, that said, we LOVED the brunch. Beautiful buffet, lots of choice, a little more informal. Definately worth doing. The high tea was very nice, but a little more reserved (quiet, formal, I can't really find the right words) than I expected.

We have been on 3 Disney cruises and have not eaten Dinner at Palo's yet. We had reservations on 2 cruises and canceled them both. We did however have Brunch and it was WONDERFUL!!! There is just so much to do, and we have alway's liked our seatmates and look forward to seeing them at dinner. I guess we are just weird. We did think about going to our regular Dinner them Palo's later in the night, but that is just to long to be sitting for dinner.

Hubby and I didn't eat there either on our 7-day Magic cruise a year ago. We really didn't want to miss any of our regular dining rotation, plus we took the DCL bus from WDW and didn't even get to port until almost 2:00, so I'm sure that by then most of the ressies were filled so we probably wouldn't have been able to eat there even if we had wanted to. We are booked on the 1/18/03 Magic, and this time we'll be driving ourselves to the port so plan to get there much earlier, and hope to make a reservation this time so we can see what all the fuss is about. :D Would like to have at least one dinner there, maybe two if we can swing it and we'd like to do the brunch and high tea as well.

We have been twice on the Cruise, once we ate there and the other time we didn't. We were not that impressed. I am a picky eater. I don't like it when they make things overly fancy by adding all kinds of things I can't pronounce. Well, I hated what I got to eat! I don't remember what it was except it had crab in it. I don't think that we will eat there again. We found the dinners in the dinning room just as nice...to be honest I am not big on that food either. I'd rather hit Pluto's :)
I guess the one thing that we did like about it was that we got to eat by ourselves. But as far as decortation and such we felt it was nice to experience once but thats it.

We've been on three Disney cruises and never been to Palo. With a teen and preteen running around the ship all day, dinner is the only real time we sit and talk. Plus, when the kids are grown and we go alone on the cruise we can eat at Palo.

Thanks for all your responses - at least I know we're not weird now! (Although there are some who would dispute that! LOL) Looks like we'll try for the Brunch in August and see how we like it!
