Caribe Royale is 1.5 miles away, Mariott World Center is about the same and so is the Nick Hotel and Gaylord Palms. Buena Vista suites is also on the same property as Caribe Royale. I got an awesome deal there for August so we will stay there this time instead of the Nick Hotel which has just gotten too expensive.

Are you counting the DTD hotels as on or off property? If you consider those as on property, then you have to look at three areas. One - where Hotel Plaza Blvd. exits the DTD area. Probably the closest hotel to this would be the Orlando Vista Hotel (used to be a Doubletree Club) that is just to the left on SR535, although there are a lot of hotels very close by. Two - where Sherberth Road enters Disney property at AKL/AK area. There is a Holiday Inn here that is close, and there are lots of hotels on Maingate Lane, which intersects Sherberth before it meets Hwy 192. Third - the "Epcot" entrance off of I-4, which is SR536. The Marriott World Center and the Nickelodeon Hotel are right across the street from each other just to the east of I-4. If you go another half mile or so, you will reach the Caribe and BVS that the previous poster mentioned. There really aren't a lot of hotels on Hwy 192 that are close to the main World Drive entrance. The hotels that are on west Hwy 192 would be accessed just as easily, and sometimes more so, from the Sherberth Road access.

Thank you! I'll be looking at these.
I wasn't really counting the DTD hotels as offsite. I guess technically they are, but I was wondering about others.
Have looked at SOOOO many, I finally just thought I'd ask you all because I knew you'd know!:goodvibes
I guess there is a "closest one" in each of the areas...

The Wyndham Bonnett Creek sits on privately owned property up against Epcot. It is surrounded by disney property on all sides, but is technically offsite.

I will look at Bonnet Creek.
Also considering Sheraton Safari because they allow a small dog. It's pretty close, right????

Bonnet Creek on the Epcot side, Silver Lake on the AK side.
Both are timeshares, though Silver Lake shows up on SkyAuction sometimes. For Bonnet Creek, you'd need to find an owner willing to rent their time to you. Check ebay, TUG, or Redweek.

It's right near Crossroads and the entrance to Hotel Plaza Blvd which leads to DD/Marketplace.

Lots of Bonnet Creek openings have been posted on ebay. We stayed there at Christmas and found it very easy to drive to the parks from there even with the holiday traffic. Much easier than having to drive through DTD. The shuttle service is also good. (I don't think they allow pets.)

This Hotel uses a short cut to Animal Kingdom. Approx 5- 7 min drive!

The shortcut to AK--is that the Sherberth Road one?
I read where the Radisson Worldgate uses that one and it's very quick. Their website looks really good, though reviews aren't.

That is the road that Best Western Lakeside uses. It is very quick. I was told the Best Western Lakeside backs Animal Kingdom.
