hello,

I was hoping to do something romantic for my DH and was all ready to get him a gift basket sent to our room as it will be his birthday and our anniversary whilst we are over there.

Well, we were reading a trippie together the other day in which someone had done this and he said 'i'm so glad that you wouldn't do something like that for me, its a waste of money...blah blah blah'.

I don't think I hid my dissapointment very well as he quickly caught on that I was clearly planning to do just that. He then sternly told me that he wouldn't want that and being in WDW in magical enough for him.

SOB!

I wanted to do something nice but now I don'y know what to do???

How about something which doesn't cost any extra money, like a romantic evening walk? If your DH says that just being at WDW (presumably with you) is good enough for him then I would take him at that. I know that I often fall into the trap of planning surprises for DH along the lines of things that I know I would love myself, only to find that he is seriously underwhelmed  I think you just have to accept that he doens't want any romantic (expensive) surprises.

Fair play to you for trying though

ETA: Here are some things you could do for free:

At night you can wander along the Polynesian's beach, sit in a cabana and watch the Electrical Water Pageant and the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom. Walk through the tiki-torchlit gardens between the Great Ceremonial House and the beach. It's all very romantic. (Please keep in mind that the beach and particularly the cabanas are primarily intended for guests of the Polynesian, though there is nothing to prevent the general public from using them.)

Watch the Wishes Fireworks from the Grand Floridian boat dock. Narcoossees restaurant is nearby and receives the audio soundtrack from the Magic Kingdom, so you can enjoy the fireworks synchronized to the music. There's a little bit of delay due to the distance, but it still works. Seeing the fireworks reflect off of the lake is beautiful.

From the Boardwalk, meander up to the back gate of Epcot, or over to Disney-MGM around closing time and enjoy the music and perhaps a glimpse of IllumiNations or Fantasmic!. The bridge that goes over to the Swan and Dolphin sometimes has nice views at that time. - We did this in February and it was really lovely :thumbsup2

During the day, explore the woods from the Wilderness Lodge to Ft. Wilderness.

Stroll from the Grand Floridian to the Wedding Pavilion and poke your head in. (Unless there's a wedding in progress, of course!)

At Animal Kingdom Lodge, you can walk out to the viewing areas and see the exotic African animals roaming free. Note that the animals come out around dusk -- you won't see any during the day. (Please keep in mind that hotel guests' rooms open right out onto the viewing areas, so quiet is very much appreciated.)

Visit the Butterfly Garden located behind Acadian House in Port Orleans Riverside's Magnolia Bend section.

Or if you still want to spend money, would he enjoy a segway tour ($85) or a surfing lesson in Typhoon lagoon?
A drive along at Richard Petty? You could book any of those things in advance as a suprise.

Good luck

Great advice from Joh but there is only one thing I can say "MEN!" It is exactly the same thing to what DH would say. Make sure you tell the hotel it's his birthday as he might get a card!

You could hire a surrey bike from the Boardwalk and have a romantic ride around the Epcot resorts, errrm then again that is very energy sapping!

Hi Wayne, love the pics especially your door signs.
How did you do them and where did you get the Disney hands and pics?
I have been lucky enough to have had some of the mickey heads sent to me, now I need to put something together for our up and coming trip.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Many thanks

I just made the posters in Word, Googled for pics and put them together.
Same for the hands, quality suffers the larger you blow them up but the were OK. I will add the pic here dont know if you can just save it and print.
I can email anyone that wants them if that doesn't work.

what about the carriage rides around POR or FW? They're romantic and I think you can arrange for drinks/snacks (like tuxedo strawbs!) to be delivered for the ride to make it extra special.
I was also going to mention the Mickey wake-up call but someone beat me to it!
