We will have three days off in Orlando when we won't be using our 5-day passes. Can we still ride the monorail or the WDW boats on a day we haven't elected to attend a park? (We won't be Disney resort guests this trip either).

We'll be at O'hana for breakfast one morning. If we can hop on a boat there, what destinations are available? That is, are there boats going to more distant destinations, like Downtown Disney, in addition to the boats shuttling over to the MK?

Riding Disney transportation is one of our activities when we're not in the parks. Although we do tend to stay on site, camping at FW if we're doing lower budget. I am not certain that the boats from PO Riverside are running to DD. I had believed that was one of the cutbacks. Boats definitely travel to WL, FW, and make four stops from MGM to the International Gateway for Epcot. We usually do the MK--Epcot monorail as a return to WDW our first (non-park) day. Remember to ask to sit in the front.

Yes, you can ride the monorail on an "off-day". The trip down to Epcot (from TTC) is especially nice. By boat from the Polynesian you can go to the MK or the Grand Floridian. To reach Downtown Disney, you would need to transfer to a bus at the TTC, or just drive. The waterways connecting Port Orleans (Dixie Landings) and DD are seperate from Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon (where the Polynesian and other MK resorts are located).

The Polynesian-MK boat ride is a nice trip, even if you otherwise aren't going to the MK.
