Anyone who has an existing medical condition will know how expensive travel insurance can be! Even if you are cured, some companies still quote double/treble or even more based on your or someones medical history. My daughter has such a condition and all the "Well known" companies would not cover us, one of them wanted to charge £845 for single trip cover!! Luckily I found someone who actually listened, took all medical conditions into account and covered us all for £104 !!!!!!!!! Result or what?? Anyone need help then contact lloyds TSB website or give them a call 0800 072 3321. I do not work for TSB in case you are wodering. Just saving heaps of cash!:yay:

Thx for that, will consider them in future if Mother in Law goes with us again. She took cover out with Saga last Xmas for 11 nights. Cost her about double what we pay for family annual cover because of her condition. Always worth getting a few quotes.

Got covered with Insure and Go , covered DWs condition in an annual policy for all of us for £124.
Dw suffers from SLE [Lupus] and can be difficult to find companies to cover at reasonable price

We have our Annual policy with them, no extra for DW mild high blood pressure, £118 for Black cover, I think their family Annual Policies start at around £50.

Tesco is also very good.
DD has a congenital heart defect but has no symptoms and it will be corrected before she starts school. M&S (who we have always used before) wanted another £120 to cover her condition, Tesco wanted £20 and they were cheaper to start with anyway with virtually no difference in cover.

It's intresting to see who will give cover for pre exsisting conditions as i have lordosis ( curved lower spine) & suffer from other things also. Tesco would give me cover for everything but would not give me cover for my back.
there seems to be alot of companys that will not give cover for pre exsisting things or up coming hospital appointments.
It seems to be swings & round abouts with who will insure different conditions that people have.

The insurance covers everyone in your household and pregnancy isn't an illness(although it bloomin feels like it sometimes).Plus you need security when you are pregnant and going away that you are covered no matter what.Good luck sorting it out.:thumbsup2

I have been hospitalized during my pregnancy (I haemorrhaged) and I thought they may ask if I had been in hospital recently.
I thought the cover was just for me and hubby so that is good to know, I always forget about the cover and the little perks you get with the account, i should read into it more. Just want to make sure I got adequate insurance but will get the other half to sort it out for me, I am hopeless at these things!

I've booked my travel insurance with Club Direct for high blood pressure, Single trip 31.48p:woohoo:
(I had to go through their medical screening line)
This was the cheapest I found:coffee: , most companies were asking for 3 times the price:scared1: .

Sorry if this sounds negative and I know you can't compare one case to another but my colleague is currently in hospital in Turkey  where she fell whilst shopping and fractured her back. :sad2: One week in a Turkish hospital has cost £6000 so far :scared1: and Lloyds TSB Insurance are being difficult about paying up! Not the sort of hassle you want when you are flat on your back and she's been told she won't be able to come home for 9 weeks! Now what's that gonna cost! Warning, 'check that cover!!!'

Its not a straight forward situation and a lot of corrospondance has to be done between the medics here and in turkey. As long as your friend has disclosed all medical conditions(if she had any) then they cannot get out of it.It does take a long time to sort out and this just isn't lloyds.I found them very good when I was rushed in 2 years ago with a cyst on my ovary in the usa.Luckily I didn't have to have an operation. The bill was £3500 and it was settled direct with the hospital. Its like any insurance-they will do there best to get out of paying for it but when its your health and you have a huge amount of cover(over 1,000000) they have to cough up.Some people don't even bother to have travel insurance and then play up when they have delays of long hours and have there cases lost:scared1: I used to work for a health information service that dealt with these queries quite regular.
I hope your friend gets well soon. Its not nice being unwell in a strange place.I hope she is home soon.

Just a friendly bit of advice but...
It is always best when dealing over the telephone with Insurers - to get something in writing from the company confirming that they have noted the previous medical condition and it is not excluded.
Many Insurance companies these days have made redundant a lot of their exprienced staff and have employed youngsters to answer the phones in call centres etc
What they say to you on the phone will mean nothing in the event of a claim if you have no proof.
