Hello fellow cruises and welcome aboard the Wonder Anniversary Cruise.
Is anyone else booked for this cruise? My wife and I, and a bunch of fellow cruise and Disney nuts will be celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary for a special couple, so how do you celebrate such an event but with Disney!!!!!

This will be DW and I's second Disney cruise the first will be 12/6/07 which as of today we haven't even taken yet, we can't wait for either one to start.

So come aboard and join the thread.

Hello Mermaidbaby,

I see we are not very far from you, are you staying at WDW after the cruise?
We are planning on a cruise sandwich a few days before and maybe a week or so after the cruise. It is so far away DW and I are hoping to sneak in a WDW trip some time in the spring to get us over the hump a Disney fix.
Well....only 457 days to go......but who's counting!!!!

No WDW for us. Just a cruise. The kids will be in school and will miss 2 days. We took them out for 7 days this past cruise and they missed too too much at school. My husband is shh..."all disneyed out!:scared1: " I would love to go back in the next year but I don't think it's in the cards.

Have you been on other cruise lines?

What part of Ct are you from? I have to admit I only pass though Ct on my way to NY, unless of course I stay in Uncansville! Cha-ching!

Sorry to here DH is Disneyed out!
We took a cruise in Hawaii aboard NCL's "Pride of Aloha" back in 2005 nice ship not so good service, all American crew. My wife belongs to the ADA and each year they have a confirence, guess where it was last year......Hawaii so we went back in 2006 on board the "Pride of America" very nice ship but same service. We can't wait to try Disney cruiseline, friends of ours are all saying Disney is the best cruise they have ever done, and they have tried many cruiselines.
We live in the middle of CT about 15 miles from Hartford, speaking of Uncansville we were just there this past weekend to see "Dances with Star" tour.....well I was more like the driver. As DW, mom and my mother-in-law all were watched the show I played the machines and watched the ball game "GO SOX".

Hi Bob,
Yes the service was wonderful, it was just as I heard it was. How many of you are going on the cruise? Oh yeah a Sox fan!!!!

Hi there Steelernut,
I see you been on Carnival many times. We've sailed three times with them 1991, 1992 & 2001. The first two times, it was great. The last time, I hated it. The service was awful, the ship was not clean, but again that was a long time ago. Disney was fabulous compared to Carnival.

Right now I'm enjoying beautiful Cape Cod, we have been on vacation for the last week. :cloud9:

Hello Mermaidbaby
We just got back last night from a 10 day vacation in Maine, wish it could have been longer.
Well so far what I've heard from our travel agent is 21 rooms have been booked in our party, mind you my wife and I are just tag alongs with this group......let me step back a little.
Friends that we have been going to Disney with for a few years now are celebrating their 50th. and they asked if we would like to go along for a cruise, their kids all thirteen of them and their families will be going too and few of other Disney nuts, so it should be a hoot!!!!

Thanks everybody for the welcome!!:goodvibes

Mermaid, Carnival was good on all our cruises. The Fantasy showed it's age though. It was a 3 day cruise. I don't know if I could have spent a week on that ship. RC though was great, from the ship to the service. I liked the seafood selection better on Carnival though. Our last Carnival cruise you could not beat the price. I have heard so many great things about Disney. Now that we have a child we decided to try them out.

I could not believe a thread had already been started!! I guess I'm not the only one that is excited. I can't wait for the cruise & the start of football season.:hourglass

Hello Steelernut, "EXCITED" that is an understatement! I wish we could go now.
I have to tell ya I'm a big Pats fan and when my wife and I were cruising the Hawaiian Islands last Sept. it was great to wake up at 7:00 in the morning run up to one of the restaurants and watch the begining of a Pats game, theres nothing like having a football game and breakfast! :woohoo:

Ordered my NFL Sunday Ticket friday.:cool1: :happytv: We went to your neck of the woods for our honeymoon a few years ago. B&B in Maine, Gloucester, & Plymouth Rock. Very nice change from S.C.!!

Hello everyone!

alohabob saw my thread and told me he had started one. So I'm chiming in...

DH and I have 2 kids, DS will be 12 at the time of cruise and DD will be 11.

DH and I have been on a RCC cruise before...we didn't care for it, but we love Disney so we are going to try the 4 day.

Hey Bob,
By ADA, I take it you mean: American Dietetic Association. I know there was a conference in Hawaii recently. You may ask, why would I know such a thing. I am a Dietitian. popcorn::

Unfortunately, we will not be cruising with you. We will be cruising the week before.

We will keep everything ship shape for you.

Hi everyone -

Bob saw that I had started a thread (which I now have erased and placed a link to there). I searched and searched and couldnt find one and then of course after I start one, here you are :goodvibes

My DH and I will be your traveling companions as well. It will be our first cruise, its taken me years to convince him to go on one and then bamb he said yes :cool1: :cool1: . I am so excited.

We are from VA so we aren't Pats fans, Redskins all the way for us :goodvibes BUT I spent many years outside of Boston as a child and have lots of relatives there so I am a Red Sox's fan my entire life, which should get me some points from you Northerner's.

On the thread I started (then deleted) I had posted this poll: Hope it's okay to add it here, I want to start a cruise page/site for us all where we can keep all the info about each other and such as we get closer. I am working on the site now. Give me any ideas as to anything we should have on OUR site and it shall be done. Anyway here is the poll:

This will be our 3rd time on the Wonder. I would rather have booked the Magic, but we have some newbies joining us and they want to start with a 4 night cruise.;) That is ok..I do love the Wonder.

So it will be Me(39),DH(48) and DD(10 when we sail). Then we have some friends that are mid 30's and their 2 boys (5) & (2). (First time for them)
My Best Friend Barb (42) and her DS(10) and DD(5)....maybe more, but that is all that are booked for now.

It is only a 3 day school week so we are happy about that. We plan to fly down on Saturday and stay at the Radisson the night before we sail. Then we are going to WDW after the cruise for MNSSHP and also spending a day as Sea World.:dance3: Makes it easier to get off the ship if you know you are headed to WDW..:rolleyes1 Otherwise we are so sad.

I will have to read all the posts later and catch up..I see there is already 3 pages!:yay:

Just think we are almost 1 year out..Time will go fast..Unfortunetly time goes way to fast.....:sad2:

I am headed to F&W at Epcot with my best friend this month. I won 3 days/ 2 nights at the Swan/Dolphin on the DIS podcast back in May.:woohoo: So this will be my first adult trip to WDW. Just a short one, but it will be fun...:rotfl:

Glad to have found you guys...Thanks for the link.

We all have early dining

Next year at this time we will be getting ready to sail.

Is anyone else planning to stay at the Raddisson?? I am waiting for October too open up so I can go ahead and book our room with the cruise parking.:cool1: Right now they show September for $129??? I hope they offer the same rate for October. The offer a free shuttle to the port.

We love to go eat dinner at Grills by the port so we can watch the Magic set sail.....:woohoo: Really gets us excited about boarding the Wonder the next day.

The last time we were on the MAGIC my Uncle and Aunt were at Grills watching us set sail. They were sailing on the Marinier of the seas the next day. I held a pirate flag over the side waving it and they saw us. It was so cool..We were waving and screaming and they taped us sailing away..:cloud9:
We met up again in St.Thomas and had a drink together..It was fun, but weird..I see my Uncle walking down the dock on our way back from our excursion to St.John...I am like...There's Andy!! It was fun!

This is everyone's information spot so please let me know if there is something we need to add to the webpages etc.

Right now John and I are scheduled for Land/Sea but we have talked about going ahead and staying at the Radisson the night before the cruise anyway. We will probably decide after our Xmas trip on what to do. I may just go ahead and book the Radisson so I know we have this option. If we are doing a pre-cruise get together, I'm sure he will want to do it.

Michelle - when did you say we should try to book these rooms?

Thank goodness we have this Xmas trip to focus on or I would be driving my husband crazy, he says he created a monster. :dance3: :dance3: but he loves it LOL.. I already am trying to plan my cabin door graphics.

I am so happy we are getting conversations going and that we have a cruise expert here with Michelle.

I see you are headed to WDW for Christmas. You will have too let me know how it is this year.

We have plenty of time for planning this trip on the Wonder.

Hi Michelle,

Yes it will be nice to just relax on the ship for a few days instead of running all over the parks. We too are going to WDW after the cruise. We will be staying for 8 days at either the Beach Club or Wilderness Lodge. We can't decide on which one to stay at as we love both of them.

We will be at WDW for Xmas this year. We are having a kind-of a family reunion with about 24 members attending. Should be fun and we have never been in WDW at this time of the year before either. We usually go late October during the F&WF which we love. I will let you know just how bad the Xmas crowds are :thumbsup2 .

Good Morning All -

Just 369 days to go and we will all be at or on our way to the port :cool1: :cool1:

I got my birth certificate from New Mexico yesterday so now as soon as John can locate his (he swears he knows where it is LOL) we are going to make our appointment at our local post office to get our passports and then we can check that off the list. Hopefully we get this done by the holidays, just which one who knows,

Question for those who have DCL'd before. We are thinking about going over to Atlantis, not for the water park but to see the grounds, the aquarium and the stores. Would you suggest we book the excursion or just use a cab? I've read of people doing both. We also want to go over to the straw market and look around there and the port stores. Yea were newbies so we have to do the whole tourist thing LOL. So what do you suggest we do??

Thanks for the input

Kelly--

We haven't DCLed before, but right now we are leaning towards NOT doing anything in Nassau. We may get out at walk the building at the port and that's it.

We have cruised RCCL before and while we didn't go to Nassau we were at Playa del Carmen. I just couldn't take all the haggling. Maybe it's being a Midwest girl, but I was just taken aback by all of it.

I've heard the straw market is just like that and I just don't want to do it.

I'd love to take the family over to Atlantis, but I'm afraid all my kids would want to do is swim. I know there's the excursion, but today, right now, it's not something I'm going to book. Maybe I'll feel differently down the line, closer to the time.

Hi Ren, We have done Atlantis. It was very nice. We booked thru RCCL. We did the water taxi over. They gave you some history of the island. Some if not alot just do there own thing and go over. I think it costs around 20 - 25 bucks to get in now. We also had a tour guide when we got there. Remember though that was about 3 years ago. But just a lil' info from my end. Both have ad's & Dis ad's. We are going to do it again this time for our lil boy and parents. I suggest going to Senior Frogs. they have a great dock to hang out and chill over the water with a great view of the ships.

BTW all the grand's are now going. We have a total now of 12.

GREAT! My Sister-in-law found this board. LOL

Hi Ren, Sorry I forgot you were a newbie.:) Zulaya helped you out though. I forgot to comment on the straw market. I agree with Zulaya that it is a big hassle. They all but grab and take you to their shop or stand. The original straw market burnt down a few years ago. Now it is alot tighter quarters in there. No where to run or hide now. On a previous cruise they told us if you don't want to buy anything, don't under any circumstances make eye contact or you are done for. ENTER @ YOUR OWN RISK!!!:scared1: There are alot more shops to go to if you want something.
Watch out for the hair braiding ladies also.

Senior Frogs is a bar and grill type place during the day, and a night club at night. Alot of party people, but it's not bad during the day. It has a great view of the bay , & the ships.

Thanks for the reminder about the Radisson, I just went in and made my and John's reservation as well. We've decided not to do the land portion of the cruise as there are some other things we never do when we are in Orlando and we thought we should take the opportunity to do those things so we will be arriving in Orlando on Friday and sail on Sunday.

Since your the Radisson expert I have a few questions.

When you take the shuttle do you bring your luggage with you or do they do an early pickup and take it to the ship?

Is the parking lot there secure?

How far out can you call to make your shuttle reservation?

Can you see the Wonder from anywhere at the Radisson? (gotta take pictures after all LOL)

Thanks

Hello,
Not sure how soon you can reserve the shuttle?:confused3 I will check on that? You can see the ships from the top floor, but just the top of the ships.

They do take you and your luggage all at the same time and drop us at the curb and someone from DCL will check your luggage. They manage too fit us all on..The shuttle runs all through out the day.:thumbsup2

The Radisson seems very secure and I think a lot of people take advantage of the cruise parking. Then after the cruise they pick you up and take you back to the hotel.:goodvibes

I love the Radisson. The pool area is so nice and the restaurant is very good.
It is just so convenient. We stayed at Comfort inn suites and it just was not as easy?

Welcome Dave and Sue!

Just back from F & W at Epcot on Saturday night!:goodvibes We had the most fabulous time...It was so much fun!! This was my first time to attend
F & W. It was just a good time...Everyone should experience it.

I am really thinking about trying to fit it in next year after our Disney cruise...or maybe even before we set sail! DD is off the Thursday and Friday before we leave town and so we could fly in on Friday. I will figure something out. Only thing is taking a kid would change the experience... She would not appreciate all the food and wines!!:rolleyes1 LOL....

We drove to Cocoa beach on Saturday and I saw the Disney Magic in port!! She looked so beautiful!!:cloud9: We had lunch at Grills and it was so good and a lot fun! I really think that a lot of locals hang out there. Big surfer looking crowd. They had great entertainment...Looks like the place could get quiet wild after the sun goes down.:dance3: I had the lunch special with Grilled shrimp and pasta. The shrimp was so good! Wished we could have watched the Magic sail by, but we had to head to the airport around 4pm. We could see they were firing up those diesel engines! The black smoke was coming out of the smoke stacks. Made me sad....Next year we will be getting on board!:goodvibes

Sounds like a great time at F&W. We went two years ago and had a great time.

So did you arrange for a private room at Grills for all of us? It's not too early :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I think John is really getting into the cruise now, he asked me often if we have more DIS'ers joining up yet and he bought some pirate items for his costume for the pirate party :lmao: . They were on clearance and he was so funny trying it all on.

I've been learning more about the cruise but my mind is really on my Dec trip, we leave in 39 days

I completed my tour book today. I bought one of those $1 photo album books at Walmart, made a new WDW themed front cover and back cover and then I made 4x6 cards with each day's information, touring plans, ADR's, etc on it.

Then I copy and pasted the dining plan info to some other cards since we have never done the DD plan, this way no matter were we are we know where to get a snack popcorn:: and a counter meal. Since I printed everything on card stock the book is nice and sturdy but small enough to throw into my backpack. I am sure I will make another one for the cruise. It was so easy to make and I think will be very convenient.

Well the dinner alarm is ringing, otherwise know as the oven timer so off to eat. I hope everyone has a great week.

Well I am not sure if I had already posted this, but Gary and I went ahead and booked a 5 night cruise for January with RCCL.:yay:

It is just him and I and it sails to Grand Cayman and Jamaica. We have never been to either Island so that will be nice. We booked the Navigator of the Seas which will be by far the biggest ship we have ever been on.:thumbsup2

I am excited to try a voyager class ship. We have been on 3 other RCCL ships and had a great time, but they were older ships.

We sail Jan 19th. So I will report on it when we return. I have set us up a private tour to Stingray City and then a private tour of Jamaica so we can see the Island safely. So much cheaper than the ships excursions.:thumbsup2

I can not believe we are going to be into November already! Time to start Christmas shopping!:scared1:

Hello fellow shipmates, just got back from a three night Wonder cruise and a four night WDW trip. WOW what a great cruise we had, the weather was perfect for the cruise and the land portion of the trip. Castaway Cay is so nice words just can't say enough I hope to get a few picks up in the next few days.
I couldn't wait for our cruise (10/12/08) to get here and now that I've been on the Wonder it's no Wonder why everyone loves this ship, it is incredible.
We went from 84º Thursday afternoon in Florida to 19º and 10" of snow in Connecticut just a few hours later :sad2: what a bummer.
This trip can't come fast enough, 9 months 3 weeks 6 days and change to go.

I heard on the DIS podcast today that the Wonder will be in drydock for 3 weeks in September so we will be one of the first cruises after it returns to sea. No word on what the improvements/changes will be.

Also DH and I switched from a land sea cruise to sea only with three days after the cruise in the parks. When we did the math, and he fact that we had 3 free nights available at the Staybridge Suites via my Holiday Inn points we realized we could save almost $1000 doing it this way. We have stayed at Staybridge before, it is a great suite hotel, just outside the gates of DTD and since we will have our car it was a no brainer. So we will be arriving in Port Canaveral late Friday night, checking into the Radisson for 2 nights then going to NASA and exploring on Saturday before the pre-cruise dinner, then heading over to the port on Sunday morning to cruise. On Thursday we will head to WDW for three days before coming home on Sunday. I must say I am much happier with this arrangement.

We are under 300 days yippee...

If I am not back before the holidays, John and I wish each of you the best season of love and joy possible, may you find your homes and hearts full of love ones and dear friends. Merry Christmas

Hey all--

Haven't posted on our thread here for a while...we were at WDW the same week as Kelly, came home to get ready for holidays, took MIL to ER on 12/23 and she's still in the hospital. So needless to say, I've been a little distracted.

But I did reserve a room at the Country Inn and Suites. They had a bunk bed room that is cancellable so I reserved that for now. I saw the Radisson has a prepay $99 rate for a regular guest room...I may think on that later.

I'm looking forward to a year of fun travel! I'm off to Cinci for a conference here in 2 weeks, we're hoping for a quickie weekend to WDW in late May, a trip to DC in June and then our cruise in Oct.! Whew!

So how did everyone's Christmas trips to Disney go...We are really trying to plan for next year if I can swing it with our October Wonder trip.

I do want to go too MNSSHP in October and we have free tickets too Seaworld. So I suppose I will stay off site or maybe rent some points and stay at the BWV after the cruise???? So much planning!:cloud9:

Yup we are pretty happy with the way the Eers played and how the represented the entire University and state. I think they earned alot of respect and a few new fans with that game. Now to see what Coach Stew can really do.

Thanks for the warm welcome. This will be our first Family cruise. DH and I did a cruise way back when we were 20-something (Carnival) and it's taken us this long to do another one (you can tell how well that one went). We're quite excited.

I have a ton of questions that I'm sure the search engine will answer when it starts working. If not, I'll start to pepper you guys and the rest of the board.

And..................GO PATs!!!!!!!!!!!!

:thumbsup2 Have not posted in a while. We just returned from our cruise on Navigator of the seas.
We had a wonderful time. The ship was huge and so beautiful, but almost too big for us. We visited Grand Cayman and Ocho rios and our weather was just perfect. Most perfect weather we have ever had on a cruise. Sunny-calm seas and 85-90 everyday with low humidity!:woohoo: I could not believe it. When we left STL on that Saturday it was 6 degrees~~ YUK:eek:
We swam with the stingrays in GC and it was awesome.

DD would have loved the ship, but we went by ourselves this time. It had a minature golf course on deck12, inline skate track, ice skating ring and a rock climbing wall. It even had a Johnny Rockets on board. We did nothing ,but lay around and eat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If there is a pool and food we are happy!:rotfl:

So now we are looking forward too the Wonder in October. I just got two really cool Jack Sparrow T -shirts for DD and I too wear too the Pirate Party.

Oh and my Best Friend just booked last week. So that adds another Adult and her 2 kids. Reese will be 5 and Gus will be 10 when we sail.

I have talked to my DVC member about points to rent for after the cruise. I think we are going to try the AKL villas this time.

Hope all is well...

I don't know if we will even get off the ship in Nassau this time???:confused3We have talked about maybe taking a water taxi over too Atlantis and checking things out?? We have always wanted to get over there and never have.
I just mainly plan too enjoy the Wonder while in port.:goodvibes

I have our room booked at the Radisson for the night before and I have checked with my DVC member about renting points for our stay afterwards. We plan to go too MNSSHP, but I think I will not buy the tickets ahead this time.
Last time I did that for MVMCP it poured down hard and the weather was saying 80% chance of rain...If I had not had the tickets we would have skipped. It was miserable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think that I have too worry about the 10-16 party selling out. If so we will just spend that day at F & W at Epcot.. So I have a back up plan!!! LOL:yay:

I did pick up some cool Jack Sparrow T-shirts for DD and I for the Pirate party. Disney store had them marked down on clearance for $2.49! I could not pass it up!

I am just glad to finally be able to say we are cruising Disney this October!! 8months away...Although I do not want to wish my summer away...I want it too last...I hate WINTER!:headache:

Have a good day everyone!

Hi Michelle, I have to agree with you on Nassau...we might just stay on board the Wonder this trip. The last time we were there, we put into port with four other cruise ships and two US navy ships, it was wall to wall people in town.
We may take a taxi to Atlantis to do some gambling but that would be about it.

And I must agree about hating "Winter", I can't wait for Spring and Summer to arrive.

Renysmom

Can you go to Atlantis and just explore? Is there shopping there? What's the best way to get there? We are just not sure what to do when we get to Nassau.

We have our reservations at Radisson for the 2 nights before and offsite at WDW for 3 nights after the cruise We also are waiting to buy MNSSHP tickets but will go if the weather cooperates. We loved it when we went 2 years ago.

John has started to collect pieces for his pirate costume, I really need to start thinking about it.

We also need to start thinking about ADR's for WDW since we are getting closer to 180 mark for reservation. Can you believe how fast the time is flying.

Good Morning! It is going to be another nice day here in SC. 35 weeks from today we will be waking up in Port Canaveral ready to cruise!! We are going to drive down the day before and spend the nite at the hotel.

We still have all of our group going and we are all excited!!!!!

I think all of us are going to go over to Atlantis. Me & DW have been before , but it has been awhile. I can't remember if there is shopping or not. And I think you have to pay to take the tour now & just to get in. But please do not quote me on that.

Hello shipmates, how is everyone doing?
Winter blues are starting to kick in around here so I need some Disney talk to help me get through this.

Here’s a question for you pass Disney cruisers; what is the first thing you do or place you go to after boarding the ship?

My wife and I head to the Topsider Buffet for lunch and than stroll the ship taking pictures while waiting for our cabin to be finished.
Disney sure does put on a nice Buffet, lots to choose from that’s for sure. We sit out on the aft deck with our lunch and soaked up the warm Florida sun.

Is anyone having a pre- cruise stay at Disney World? We arrive on Oct. 7 and are staying at the Beach Club, first time we will stay there can’t wait…….OK I can’t wait for this trip period!!!!!

Anyone interested in meeting up for a drink or just to say hello before the sail away party?

My wife and I met up with a few Dis’s back in December in the Promenade Lounge for a drink, we met folks from all over the US and had a blast.

Take care everyone
Bob

Hi Alohabob,

We are staying at the Carribbean Beach resort for 3 nights before the cruise. I actually excited because we are going to do the Family Magic Tour while we are at Disney. It's been really nice this weekend. Mid 60's & sunny in SC. Gas is $3.04 here.

Have a couple of ?'s for you DCL verterans.
Called DCL this weekend about table sizes. We will have 11-12 peeps in our group & they say the biggest table they have is a 8, but i have read on other threads they have done 16. What gives? What do I have to do to get a 12?
Next, We are planning a cruise for either May or Oct. of '09. We will not do Carnival again just because we like RCI better. But I have heard so many great things about DCL that we are doing this cruise. So we may want to do DCL again or RCI. I have read on other threads that DCL gives a 10% discount & a $200 shipboard credit when you book a new cruise while onboard. But when I asked about booking before this cruise then going to the agent onboard & asking for the credits, they said they would not give the discount for the next cruise. Why? I also read on other threads that they do give them in that situation. Why 2 different stories? Please help clarify.:confused3

Hello Steelernut, when we went this past Dec. I remember seeing a few large party tables set up, but I think they were separated into groups of eight, they were very close to one another just enough room for CM's to get through. I'm sure once you are on board they will accommodate you, the more I think of it I remember seeing a few very large round tables in the dinning rooms with at least 12 persons around it.

As far as ship board discounts and credits, I think this will only take place if you book while onboard ship. I know NCL gives nice discounts if you book another cruise while onboard ship. If you're looking to book another cruise with DCL wait till you're on the ship and have the dates you really want and have a backup date in case they do not have the cabin you are looking for.
I hope that makes sense.

Raglan's is great! Never been disappointed with the food there. They have dancers and music there sometimes too. Its not quite as good as the pubs in Ireland, but still a good night.

Hello everyone!! Sorry I haven't posted in soooo long. Lots of stuff going on including two WDW trips before our October one:cool1:

Yes please include us in your spreadsheet...here's our 411
Who: Me (Amy-40) - compulsive planner, trying to learn to RELAX on vacation :rotfl:
DH (Dan-42) - great sport...puts up with DW compulsive planner...now recommends me to friends to plan Disney vacations.
DD (Laura-15) and her friend (Brianna-15) - great kids...friend has never really been on much for vacations and has certainly NEVER experienced Disney.
DS (Robert-13) - very likable and social...will know everyone by the end of the cruise

This will be our 4th Disney cruise. Cabin 8534. Late dining.

Not sure of our pre-cruise plans...will most likely fly down on Saturday. After cruise going to BWV til Sunday.

Counting the days....CAN'T WAIT!!!

Hi everyone.. So sorry I haven't been on board. I am struggling with the winter blues I guess and just didn't feel like being on the computer at all..

Hard to believe we are closing in on the 200 day mark... I really need to start studying up more on the cruise and more of the ins and outs.

We are not coming down until the Friday before the cruise and are staying at the Radisson, we will be doing NASA on Saturday.

Are we still doing the get together Saturday night (I forget the name of the place that was suggested).

We will be staying for 3 days after the cruise. I am only making one ADR for those three days. We learned our lesson with the dining plan and how much we ate and that the last two days we didn't want to look at food so I figured the cruise is basically the same, and we will be a little tired of food. That plus we love a few of the counter service places and since we are off-site (remember the deal we go 3 nights for the price of one) I don't think ADR's are really needed. Hope I am right LOL..

We are thinking of doing MNSSHP on Thursday night of the cruise as well.

Well besides cold, rain and some hints that spring is on the way that is all that is happening in Virginia.

CathyDisneyNut and AmyM I added your info to our cruise site.

We are getting a great list of people..46 so far...

Is anyone planning on bringing Fish Extenders or decorating their doors? I hope to make an extender if I find time. The door decorations are on the list as well.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is a fish extender?

As regards meeting up, will it be early to include the kids? I cannot remember at all how late kids can stay in the Adventurers Club.

I'm sure we can meet up early or later what ever everyone wants to do, I know all the times we have been to the Adventurers Club no matter how late it was there seemed to be young kids there.

Fish extenders are fabric holders that are hung outside your door and people can leave notes, treats, etc. in them.. Kinda like a on ship mail system between friends.

There is a thread about them here:

Wow everyone is so quiet here.. Come on folks let's get this cruise party started..

Actually just thought I would post the "unofficial" MNSSHP dates as I know several of you were talking about going before or after the cruise..

Remember these are unofficial but Oct hours should be out any day and you will be able to confirm..

October 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 13, 16, 19, 21, 23, 24, 26, 28, 30, 31, 2008

Park hours being released makes you realize how soon this cruise is...

So Kelly,
What do you think??? We are planning too attend the MNSSHP and I am trying to decide between 2 dates. DD is off school on the 10th and so we could fly down that Friday morning and then take a nap and head too MK for the party on the 10th. Or we could go too the party on that Thursday the 16th when we get off the ship???:confused3 What would you do??

I am also going to wait and get tickets when we are down there. Last time we bought MVMCP tickets ahead of time it rained and I mean rained hard the entire party!!!!!!!!!! So I am not doing that again. If there is an 80% chance of rain we will skip it!:sad2: So this would give us two chances.

I thought it would be a great way too kick off our trip and then we can sleep in on Saturday and make our way too Cape Canaveral in the morning.

Friday the 17th we are going to Sea World so that would leave Thursday for F & W if we wanted to go too Epcot!:dance3: Geez I need a second job too do all this!!! Good thing we are getting that kickback from the gov't!:woohoo: We will definetly put it back into the Economy.

I would have a lot of money if I would quit planning trips....:rotfl2: BUT! I would not have as much fun!

I made something for my state room door on our Magic sailing. Guess I need to think about that for this year.

This probably our last DCL sailing till the new ships come out. We have other things planned for next year like a trip to California and DL. We plan to do Carnival out of San Diego.:thumbsup2

My one friend and her Hubby had to cancel the cruise.:sad2: It was for a good reason though. They just bought a new home and plan to build a Barn for the horses and so they figure this year is not the time for a Disney cruise.
I understand..Priorities!! Mine are just a little different....:rotfl2:

Ok I have rambled enough. Have a great day....:dance3:

Sure! It is a really fun event for Halloween

MICKEY'S NOT SO SCARY HALLOWEEN PARTY!!

It happens on select nights and here are some great tips.:maleficen
There are special shows and dance parties and trick or treating for the kids.
1) Dress up and have fun!!!!
2) Even though the time says 7pm...You can enter MK any time after 4pm with your party ticket for the party and get your arm band.
3) If you are planning too stay late then watch the 2nd Parade..It is much less crowded. DO NOT MISS the HEADLESS HORSEMAN! It is so cool! He starts the parades each night.
4) Make sure you watch Hallo Wishes
5) Mainstreet USA will be the most crowded area...Venture off and the rest of the park is great...Hardly any lines for rides
6) The park is decorated so cool..It is a fun atmosphere.
7) Ride the Haunted Mansion

There ya go. I am sure there are other tips out there. I love the parties at MK and can not wait too go back. We went on Halloween night in 2004 and it was SOLD OUT, but we still had a blast. So I am hoping earlier in the month will be less busy.

Have fun!

If I was taking children I think I would do it on Friday before if DD can miss school. Sleeping in on Saturday will benefit you on Sunday That Thursday is going to be a very early wakeup, then all the hassles and sadness of getting of the ship, then driving to WDW, then check-in again may make a very long day for her.

We may be running into each other alot. We have tentatively decided to do Epcot on Thursday because of Food and Wine and Sea World on Saturday as well. Got to do Sea World, LOVE that park!!! and we didn't go there last year. I also have to get a Dinner at Chef Mickey's and some time at MK into the schedule as well and we are driving home on Sunday..

When are you looking at going to So CA?? John and I have talked about next May for a possible trip.. I've been doing some research on places to say and such and costs don't look to bad. Wouldn't it be funny to see you there also LOL

Sorry your friend cancelled but you are right, its a great reason. Don't worry you won't get lonely. We will keep you busy :) :)

Well my DVC member that I rent from e-mailed me yesterday and was able to secure me a studio at the AKV for after the cruise for 2 nights!!!:cool1:

I lOVE AKL and so it will be fun too stay at the Villas.

Have any of you been checking rental car rates??? They are outrages?:scared1:

I got my best quote on Hotwire so I think around September I will book with them even though I get charged right then. I can get a Mid size car for the entire 8 day trip for $179 Total! I have gotten nothing better than $230 or higher from any other resource. Still more discounts will come out as it gets closer.

I am also waiting for SW to open the schedule, but most likely I will wait for a DING!:goodvibes

Anyone else been making any other travel plans????

I can not wait too get our gov't check in May..I am paying the cruise off with that one.:dance3:

Hope everything is good for everyone...

We just had a new addition to our family! We have new baby buckskin filly born on Saturday morning. She is just a sweet as can be. DD is very excited since this baby horse is going too be her's to train and ride.:cloud9:

Oh and I got JIMMY BUFFET tickets on Monday!!!!:yay: :yay: :yay:

Hi Michelle, I am also waiting for SW to open for Oct. My wife and I usually fly with Delta to MCO but there prices are about $60/ea more than SW would be, maybe once SW posts its schedule for Oct. Delta will drop it's price.

So you're a Pirate Head, I would love to see Jimmy Buffet one day but prices to see him around CT. are through the roof, Ill just have to be satisfied with visiting Margaritaville........it's five o'clock somewhere!!!!

My family things I am crazy because I said that is one of my goals in life...Too see Jimmy Buffet in concert!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: You know he is getting old and who knows when he will decide to hang it up!!!:confused3 So finally this is my chance. I was on the computer right at 10 am when they went on sale and managed to get 2 lawn tickets. They ended up being $96 for both of them together after all the fees. I can handle that, but the actual seats where EXPENSIVE! I would rather be in the lawn anyway!:dance3: So we can dance! :woohoo:

We use to live 15 minutes from a local venue where he performs each year and one of my best friends worked in the ticket area so she would get us tickets first thing.. I loved being on the lawn.. That is where all the fun is..

I am jealous.. Have fun

Add our family to the list!! We will also be on the October 12 Wonder cruise. This will be our second Wonder cruise. Our first was in 2003 on the 3-day.

We will be coming down 10/11 and returning home 10/19. We would like to do MNSSHP on 10/16 if that is an option, although this will make for a long day for us. We have done it on Halloween in 2000 and 2003 and found that you can get so much done in MK just on that one night.

Staying at POP after the cruise and planning on doing a little park hopping on Friday and maybe a water park on Saturday.

I'll send our info on to Renysmom.

Can't Wait:cheer2:

Called bright and early this morning with my ADR's for our pre-cruise stay at Disney :woohoo: I tried for Victoria and Albert's chef's table but was beaten out by one minute for the night before the cruise but, did get a regular table and they said to keep trying until Oct. in case of a cancellation.
Only 180 days until we land in Florida  :dance3: :cool1:

Hello All!!!

Good to hear from people coming out of winter. Ugh! It's been horrible here in Minnesota. But good for my business so can't complain too much:) I too am so looking forward to the cruise and Disney in October! I will be down there twice in July, once for daughter's gymnastics and once for work convention, BUT IT'S NOT A CRUISE!

Is anyone thinking about doing the Aqua Venture at Atlantis? I just booked two rooms at the Comfort Suites today for our party of 5 on October 12th. I got a AAA rate of $157.50 per room. MUCH cheaper than the $155 per person DCL wants. We could always add up to 3 people for our 2 rooms if anyone is interested.

Oh well, back to work:sad2: It's raining hard and about 35 degrees here right now. Come on vacation! Will be staying at BWV after our cruise so will be making dining ressies soon:cool1:

Happy thoughts to everyone!

Goodmornin shipmates, anyone know when Southwest opens there flights for October? I've been checking every day and still nothing. We usually fly with Delta to MCO, they and Southwest are the only direct flights from Hartford.
Delta's prices keep inching up-wards with the cost of fuel, so I'm hoping when Southwest posts there flights for October Delta will lower there prices.

Anyone know if our cruise will be stopping at Castaway Cay twice?

Laura,

Small world! I am also from MN and my 15 year old DD is named Laura. Where are you guys from? And really consider the 10K...I will do it as a WOG (walk/jog). You only need to maintain a 16 minute mile. I figure we'll be on the road by 8:30 or 9:00 puting us at the port by 10:00 or 10:30. We are cruising conierge so will have an automatic group 1 boarding. yes I have been to Myrtle Beach many times. My dad has a house in south Myrtle beach right before Murrell's Inlet. He is actually selling it, so this will probably be our last year there. We drive down every year, it is about 12 hour ride with Me, my brother, my daughter 7, and his 2 kids in a mini van, surprisingly enough we don't kill eachother by the time we get there.

I love Carowinds, my dad actually lives in Charlotte, so we have been to Carowinds a handful of times. The last time I was there, they had opened some new rollercoaster where you lie down.. but I never got a chance to ride it. I was really disappointed.

I have a quick question, not sure if you do any of the touristy things there, since you live there, but if you had a choice between Midieval Times or the rodeo dinner show (don't remember the name) Which would you recommend?

Kim - Hi!!:) I have been to Dixie Stampede (Rodeo) a loooong time ago & it was pretty cool. Never been to M.T. I have heard good things about both. If that helps any??
Carowinds is cool. They changed the name of the roller coaster you mentioned. That was the 1st time I have really been scared on a coaster. Hard Rock has 4 coasters. Led Zep. is the best, but other than that there really isn't much. It costs $50. The Eagles will be there June 6th I think. $250 :scared1:  I would love to go, but $500?????
They just opened a new shopping complex on the old air base. If you like to shop. Haven't been, but it looks really nice. Like we needed more shopping.
If you drive in & arrive Sat. afternoon or evening use Hwy22 to 31 then go south. Or Hwy 9 to 31 then south to 544. Instead of 501 it will save time eventhough it is further. 501 reeeeeeeeeally backs up. A normal 30 mins from Conway could take 1hr - 1hr half. I don't know why the idiots at SCDOT don't pub it on I-95.:confused3

Thanks for the heads up... we will probably still hit hard rock, because my dad pays.. LOL if it was me paying it would be a different story. I think my dad is leaning towards the Dixie Stampede, I did the other in Vegas, so I probably vote for that one too.

I will definitely take your advice on getting into Myrtle Beach, I never trust the maps on the internet anyway.

Shopping is always on my list, it is just hard to convince a bunch of kids who would rather be mini golfing! LOL

Hey Kim, If you arrive on Saturday after 8pm or so I think you will be OK on 501. Between 2pm - 7pm is the worst. Hope you have a good time. Hwy 31 saves alot of time going north & south. If you leave on Sunday between 9am & 3pm is bad also on 501.:thumbsup2

Did anyone else receive their travel kit from Disney yet? We received ours on Thursday. I didn't even expect this one. I knew it was too early for documents so it was nice to have a surprise!

The travel kit is a little booklet that has shore excursions, tips for smooth sailing, gifts you can buy, things you need to know and insurance information. There is also a letter that tells when your final payment is due and when you can book excursions, spa, Palo, etc.

We have not paid in full yet.

Just checked a popular travel website (don't know if you can use specific names on here) but they show all balcony & suites sold out for our cruise. I guess the ship will be full by the time we cruise.

hmmmm.. today is the 12th of June...so that means

4 months from today we are cruising

Reminder... If you are staying at the Radisson and want to use the free shuttle /parking service to get to the port, reservations for the shuttle opened today.. I just made ours..

We still don't know whether we will leave the car there or pay to park. We need to see how secure the Radisson really is and if it's not secure enough we will pay to park at the port.

Time to really start on the packing and shopping list.
