I originally booked the free dining from 8/26-9/1 with 10 day no expire/hopper/water parks & more plus had to add a room only ressie for 8/25 which came to a total of $2908.65. Now mind you, no dining included with first night. I called just now and booked same exact package, but including dining the first night for only $2863.92. There is only a $44.73 savings, but I also get dining for the first day so essentially that is a $124.71 savings off of my original package! :cool1: It may not be a lot to some, but I look at it as extra souvinier money!!:dance3:

You have a no expiration/hopper/waterpark & more ticket for 10 days included in your 7 night package? :thumbsup2 We are booked for aug 30 - sept. 8 with just water park fun & more. Although there is a two night difference in our stay, there is only a $381 difference between our stay and we have a 9 day, water park & more, no hopper and no non-expiration. We, too, are staying at WL. I called this morning to check if the zjz would make it less and it added $400 to our price :confused3 .

My ressies were both for Woods View rooms (the standard room wasn't available) and it is just for myself and DS-10. Your are probably saving more with Free dining because you have 4 ppl in your room. I only have 2. So dining would be about $80 per day for us, so it is better for us to pay for dining and get savings off the room cost. For your family of four, it is cheaper for you to take free dining.

You're right. I forgot about the amount of people. I kept say, "what am I doing wrong?" When I called to upgrade to no expiration, it added $600 to our total :scared1: . We'll see how many days we have left. Enjoy your trip and we'll see ya at the lodge.:)

Can someone explain to me how this works? We are a family of 5 booked at POR from 8/26-9/1 but also checking in on 8/25 for one night room only. Would this code be something that would save us money? We got 7 day park hopper passes w/ our package and the free dining. What do I say when I call? Thanks for any help!!

You may want to use code BUL on that room only night. It is the code for room only discount and I think it's around $50 savings on moderate.

I will be staying at the Wilderness Resort bunkbed woodland view 4 nights.2 adults 2 children 5 day hopper pass and dining for $1585. using this new code. Our original reservation was for POFQ standard room free dining for 1550. I am so happy to be at the WL for only 35 dollars more. AAA was not able to figure the best code though.

If you are in a Deluxe resort with one or two people and get a good room discount, that room discount will be more than the cost of the dining plan. One person in a Moderate resort will also do better with the current discount than Free Dining.
If you have four or more people in a Deluxe, or two or more in a Moderate, or anyone in a Value though, Free Dining is the best deal.

Those that posted that the ZJZ code is a better deal when we are talking about 2 ppl in a deluxe are correct. It makes me wish I stuck with the 40% off code that I got back in Feb when I originally booked trip for a stay at POP. Then when the free dining came out I switched to that and then ended up upgrading to WL. Nothing would have beat the 40% off WL rates! Oh well, live and learn!

i was thinking of changing mom's ressie, we are booked as a grand gathering/free dining she had to pay rack rate to get this promo.
since she is the only one in the room (mod resort), she just might make
out with one of these new codes that are out.
I will call tomorrow and see what we can do, the codes that have been posted on this post are they open to the general public???
thanks

The free dining offer is not available in Dec, it generally is only offered in late August through September. This year the offer was for 8/26-9/22, the trip had to be booked by June 24th

In most cases, the discount will only be better if you are staying at one of the deluxes. Right now your mom is paying approx. $150/nt and it includes dining. With the codes, I think the mods are $104 + tax, then add the DDP which is approx. $39/nt...and it's kind of a wash.

I had reservations at the Poly from 8/24 to 8/26 with one day one park tickets and then from 8/26 until 9/2 with 8 day park hoppers (that part with free dining) for 2 adults, a 10 year old and 2 younger kids.
I just switched my reservation to one continuous one with the ZJZ code from 8/24 through 9/2 with 10 day park hoppers plus water fun and dining and am saving $60. I'm thrilled that I only have one reservation now, rather than having to check in and check out again, and that we have 10 day park hoppers rather than only one day one park tickets in the beginning.
Thanks to everyone here for all the great information!

I don't understand how this is possible. We are two adults staying at a mod and the quote with the disc and dining for WL is almost $1000 more. I just priced out a mod using the code with dining and it is about $300 more than the free dining package we have now. Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

Try pricing it at a deluxe other than WL or AKL (as their standard rooms are the lowest priced deluxes)...I think you will see that the discount makes a much bigger difference at somewhere like the Poly or GF. If there's only two of you going and you're staying at a mod, then free DDP is the best way to go.

Free dining is offered Aug/Sept only. It became a way to entice guests to visit WDW during the hurricane season after the couple of years with very bad hurricanes and guests not wanting to travel during those times. It became a great thing for Disney/guests and so has been offered again.
Really, it is only a good deal with a large family or for guests who do a sit down every day as the room is rack rate and good room only discounts are usually available for August/September.
Your friend would save the most by watching here for a December code(which should be released in a few weeks) - using a great Disney Specialist TA, book now and the TA will do their best when the code comes out to get the rate adjusted - or watch here and be ready to call the morning the code is released to get the rate changed. Always better to have a reservation so the rate can be adjusted, rather than trying to snag a room during a very busy season.
Hope it all works out great for your friend! :flower3:

I was wondering the same thing. I didn't think the discount with the code was that good, not better than free DDP for more than a couple of people in the room. WL is going for $140/night, standard view, according to Mouse Savers.
I'm paying $145/night at POFQ with free DDP, so $10 more than that WL room. However, with two adults and one child it would cost me the extra $10 per night for WL, plus another $89/night for DDP... $104/night total to upgrade with the code.

My Mom has a ressie at POR for 9/19 departing 9/24 with 5 day Park hoppers, no extras and it expires. She also got the free dining. The total for the package for two people is $1341.88 or $268.38 per night. Would they be better off going with the ZJZ discount and adding there dining?

I just tried the Poly for our dates and there is no availability, so I don't know if it would be a savings. We could switch to a different resort, but we want to stay at the Poly so we'll take our free dining and live with it. There would have to be over a $1200 savings in order to beat the free dining for us. We have always paid out of pocket for food (no dining plan free or not). So, even if we are paying rack rate, our food bill for the week comes to approx $1200...so I think the free dining would give us a better deal.
Or at least I'm trying to convince myself of that so I won't be tempted to change. (deep breaths, deep breaths...we're staying at the Poly...don't look anywhere else) :rotfl:

Another one who changed here! The CM applied the ZJZ for me looking into CBR. I had ASMo booked, but wanted to upgrade to CBR. Turns out using the ZJZ to book CBR is $57.12 cheaper than upgrading my free dining reservation from ASMo to CBR. This is a package for one person, so even for those travelling solo and staying at a mod this code would save money over the free dining.
KLJ; when you book online, first book the room only code. (the BUL-action). Than you can simply add the ticket. Afterwards; change the package (last on the page before the totall amount) to MYW with dining. That way you can see the totall price. It is possible online and by phone, I just did it myself. We started out with the BUL, which the CM found out couldn't ad the dining, so she changed to ZJZ and was succesfull without a problem.

Marsha, if you are on the homepage;
- scroll down. All the way down on the right, you'll see "great resort offers". Click on that
- you'll get a list of the rules etc. about the BUL-code. The dates are stated there; Available most nights July 29 - August 2, August 5 - 9, August 12 - 29 and September 2 - 29, 2007 in a standard room.
- about half way down, you'll see the button "get started". Click on there.
- fill in your traveldates and partysize
- choose the resort you'ld like
- you'll now get a quote for a room only.
- pick your desired view
-Scroll down to ticket options and open the screen. NOT on the right (that doesn't seem to work all the times), but on the left big blocks on the main part.
- the last option before the totall amount stated is "packages". Open that if you want to add dining. Add dining.
- You'll now see a totall quote for the ZJZ-code. (the site will apply it by itself if you went through that "great resort offers".
- you can dubble check, because above the quote it'll have a blue block in which it states; special rate.
Good luck!

No prob, Dopey. This is what I payed;
$311,- for a 9 day MYW ticket + park hopper and water park & fun
$ 311.92 for the DDP
$ 937.15 for the room
which makes a grand totall of $ 1560.07 or $104,- excl tax for the room per night. Which should be the rate you'ld get at any mod (standard room) with this code. Value is $69,- for standard and $169 for SSR.
By the way, you can get a great insight in the costs (incl. per night) if you follow the steps I posted earlier. :) (and yes, CBR is still available for this code online)
Marsha, sorry to hear you can't benefit. :( Hopefully something will come up for october also!

Ok, am I paying a lot or what? Reading threw everyones posts I feel I am paying more for some reason. Does this seem right. We paid $2,935 8 nights at POR. No hoppers, no water parks, just base tickets. It does include our flight though which was almost $200/person.
madenon
07-15-2007, 05:33 PM
TCP, you're going with more than one person. Keep in mind; you'll need to buy at least 2 tickets which'll increase the totall.
If we take off $400,- for flying for 2, we've got a totall of $2535,- for MYW base tickets and 8 nights POR. I'm going to assume you've got free dining.
Now let's just look at what the costs would be using the ZJZ code; $ 1394.12 for a standard room including two 9 days MYW-tickets base style. I couldn't add the DDP for some weird reason when checking online, but that should be fine if you call. That would be another 2 times $311,92. That would make a totall of $2017.96. That's a big saving of over $500,-!
Have I done the math correctly in assuming your traveldates are; 9/10-9/18? If that's the case; no availability online for this code at POR, POFQ and CBR . CSR is available. I've read on here that sometimes there's a difference between online availability and availability if you call, so I would call to make sure if they haven't still got something at POR for the ZJZ code. (and if it's included, they only mention "select moderate resorts") If that isn't the case, it's up to you to decide if the $500+ savings is worth changing your reservation to CSR.
If it is, this can be done very simply by calling disney travel. Just tell the CM you want to change your reservation and are using code ZJZ and they'll be able to help you out.

In that case we'ld still have add the kids. Let's hop online and see what the disney site comes up with;
$ 2294.47 for a stay at CSR (again, no POR) for 8 nights including 9 day MYW base tickets and DDP. This includes 2 adults, and one 5 year old and a 2 year old (assumed they'll still be 5 and 2 when you are there)
You'll have bought 3 tickets, so let's say that's a totall of $600,-. In that case there would be a small saving ($2335 versus $2294), but no availability online for POR. (don't know about calling)

Just to mention for those who are booking air,...a friend of mine joined the "Spirit $9.00 Club" online. He is flying r/t from Orlando to Atlanta for only $36.00. He has to pay additional for a checked bag or anything else, but the flight itself is a real bargain. I guess they have very limited gateways with that kind of deal but for him travelling solo it's much less costly than the price of gas driving to/from Atlanta. I'd not be able to take many trips to WDW if I had to include airfare so it really does bite into the total cost. For the person with the $200 pp flights, were they booked as part of your package through WDTC? ---Kathy

I got one of those really cheap Spirit Airlines fares just before they started the $9.00 Fare Club (which I did join). My husband and I flew home from Las Vegas to Detroit for $7.77 each (plus tax, of course). Once I experienced that kind of a deal, I had to join the $9.00 Fare Club.

How were you able to change it now? I have a free dining ressie for 9/16-9/22 at POFQ. I later decided to stay a night longer, but the free dining rooms were sold out. I have a room only for 9/22 at FQ with no dining credits. What resort are you staying at, and how were they able to add a night with dining credits once the promotion is over. (Magic maybe?;-) I'd love to get some extra credits, but figured I'm out of luck. Any ideas?

HI,
I am not sure if you were asking me the question, but I was able to add the additional night onto the start of my package with dining by using the ZJZ code which is a discount for a room/tickets/dining package. I originally was unable to get the dining for my first night as it was prior to the start of the "free dining promo". I was able to apply the code to my entire stay so that I wouldn't have to split the stay and not get DDP for the first night. I am staying at Wilderness Lodge.

hi everyone,
I am very new to this and am planning a suprise trip in September for my husband and my kids (dd 12 and ds 10). I booked WL through DU for Sept 15-21st. total for room, dining and tickets for $3400.00. Does this sound like a good price or is there better deals to be found? I appreciate any feedback. THis is a last minute decision to go...we have not been to Disney since 2000.
THanks Again

One important factor you didn't list is what room category you have. that could make a very significant difference. Also what kind of tickets did you get?
Rack rate
Standard Room 215/night = 1451.25 for 6 nights with tax
7 day Base tickets tickets 210 ea = about 900
DDP 38.99/person/night = 935.76
Totaling - 3287.01
Add trip insurance would be right about 3400, or another room category.
If you have hopper tickets add about 180, if you have wp feature add about 200 more. Rooms vary another $80/night for standard rooms with different features/views and go as high as 375/night concierge, 485/night delux, and other suite options.
There is a current special going on that you may be getting in on. So an even higher room category might be costing about that much.

thanks for the response Bethcam. THe room is courtyard view with bunkbeds. And I have already started looking for reservations, but thanks for the heads up. I am very excited to surprise my family!:goodvibes
From the prices you have shown it doesn't look like much of a deal. MArla at DU said this ws part of the newly released special but I'm not seeing much of a savings. And yes ido have hopper passes but not wp.

courtyard bunkbed is 295/ night so add $80 per night to the price for a total of an extra $540 so yes you are getting a deal. add in the cost of adding in the hoppers of 180ish. And that means you got about a $720 savings.

thank you..that makes me feel better. I booked this at the last minute and thought i had missed out on any savings. I probably would have saved more with free dining but oh well...I think bunk beds are a good thing!

We are staying at the WL from Aug 29th -Sept 2nd 4 nights 2 adults , 1- 7yr old and 1- 2 yr old. We have dining (not free) and 5 day park hopper passes . We have a bunk bed woodland view and we were quoted several prices over the last 3 months . From Disney and AAA I was quoted 1736$ with the ZJZ code 2 weeks ago, then I tried Dreams Unlimited and was pleasantly surprised when the quote came back as 1585$ . I would shop around a bit.
Good Luck.

Hi kimcomeau,
I do plan on shopping around a bit more...not so sure I got the best deal but I have booked 7 nights, so my stay is a little longer than yours. I too found the best price (3400) thru Dreams Unlimited but must say I have not found the TA very helpful. She gave me the quote and said this is the best she can do. I did this very last minute so maybe I am too late to receive any substantial savings.
I will keep the original ressies if I cannot find any other deals but will continue to search over the next few days before committing to anything.

Big Differences between this trip and kelsues 2 extra nights, 2 jr children, view-
Atleast two extra nights (the trip she listed and I did figures on only included 6 nights but in her latest post she says seven so i'm not sure which) and the fact that her view is $35 more per night totals an extra 652 (using zjz). She has two Junior children verses your two younger children (only one of which needs a ticket) so an extra about 306 in tickets. Also with those two older children paying for dining instead of your one younger child and the extra atleast 2 nights for them as well as the adults it adds about 580. All of this gives a difference for her package verses yours of 1537. And there may be more that i'm missing.
A rack rate breakdown of kimcomeau's package -
room 260/night = 1170
tickets - 2 adult, 1 child, 5 day hopper = 746
DDP 4 night = 356
For a total of 2272
Compared to Kelsues of -
room 295/night = 1991.25
tickets = 1052
DDP = 936
For a total of 3979

I'd say getting a 3979 trip for 3400, meaning you got a $579 savings is pretty significant savings. And if you do infact have 7 nights booked that adds an extra $350ish to the value you are getting.

kimocomeau -
I'd check to make sure you have booked what you think yo do. When I put in the information you gave into the disneyworld.com website using the zjz deal, the quote is 1941. Which makes sense. The savings is about 75/night * 4 nights which is 300, and when I put the same nights in for rack rate it tells me over 2279 (apparently I forgot to add the hopper feature when I figured your tickets earlier - i'll edit that when I'm done with this). If I put in at disneyworld.com with zjz deal and exactly as you stated it but leave out the dining plan altogether it quotes 1585. It looks like your DU quote may have inadvertantly left off the DDP - which when added back (356) will bring you back to 1941. As far as you figuring 1736 prior to that, that's how much this package would be with a standard room instead of a woods view bunkbed room.

Is "free dining" the same as the "dining plan"? I'm so confused. I have a room only reservation with a discount. I would like to add the dining plan/MYW package but I *think* that would negate the room discount. I'm pretty sure you can't have both.
I called and asked a few general questions about it and was told yes you can. I specifically asked if it would make the room discount null and void and was told no, but I'm not sure. He was a little less sure of it towards the end of the conversation. I don't know. I'm concerned that if I were to go ahead and try it, I will muddle my reservations. :upsidedow
I really would like to add the dining package, but I don't think you can with the room discount. I've been reading about it but haven't seen anything that says you can't (so far). I think I've read it on the DIS that you can't. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Maybe we can just get the dining plan without the tickets? I don't know.
Thanks.

Annie, the "free dining" mentioned was a package they offered (could only book untill 24th of june) for certain periods of arrival. You'ld book a disney resort and a MYW-ticket and would get the Disney Dining Package for free instead of paying $38.99 per adult per night, for the duration of the amount of nights you'ld book.
The dining package is something you purchase. You can add it to a room only discount. At this moment, they've got the BUL/BUK-code going for arrival in august or september (certain days). You can add MYW tickets to that room-only without loosing the room discount. They've also got the ZJZ-code going on. It gives you the same discount on the room as BUL/BUK, and automatically will add MYW for the length of your stay and the dining package. For both (MYW and dining) you pay full price.
You can't combine discount. So if one has booked and used the free dining code, they can't now also ask to apply the BUL/BUK or ZJZ-code to that same reservation. That would be 2 discount; discount on the dining AND discount on the room. Adding dining to a roomdiscount is only 1 discount, so yes; you can add it and it wouldn't reduce your discount.

Annie; remember that you can only add the DDP for the whole duration of a reservation, not for instance for 4 days out of 8 booked. only way round that is to have 2 reservations. For instance one for 2th of august till 5th of august for 3 nights (=3 days of ddp) and another reservation for the 5th of august till the 8th without DDP. This can be 2 stays at the same resorts or at different resorts. Downside; having 2 reservations means everything in 2. It could be that you'ld have to switch rooms half way through if you'ld got 2 reservations at the same resort.
If you want to know everything about the ddp and it's do's and don'ts; go to the Restaurant-section. On the top there is a "disney dining plan" section. Click on that, and go to the topic "all you ever wanted to know about the ddp" (or something like that). It's about the 5th topic or so from the top.

Actually you can not add the DDP to a room only discount. DDP is an element available for MYW packages. Room only discounts are for room only reservations, not for packages. Now lately many room only codes will have a matching code that can be used with a package and therefore you can achieve a discount of the same amount on the room and get the DDP, but you will have to get a package, which means also purchasing tickets.

We have two rooms for all star sports for sept 12-18. One room has 2 adults and the other has 1 adult and 2 children 7 and 4. 6 day park tickets not hopping or water park. I would really like to move resorts cause the pool will be closed when we are there. Would this deal be better at any other hotel. Even if it is a little bit more. I dont quite know how to answer your question. But I can give you an idea of how much the package would be at other resorts with the BUL/ZJZ codes.
The following is as you said - sept 12-18, room 1 2 adults, room 2 1 adult 2 children, base tickets, using disneyworld.com to find availability for that week, this is the cheapest I could find.
Saratoga Springs - Studio
Room 1 1586.06
Room 2 1729
Total 3315.06
Saratoga Springs Studio, With dining
Room 1 - 2054
Room 2 - 2090
Total 4144

HI,
It worked for us because there was just the 2 of us going. The free dining savings was only about $80 per day. Obviously you have 4 persons, so your dining will be more per day. You should try to get a quote for your Mom though and see how it prices out. If it saves you more than $40 per night then it will be worth it to switch!
beth_cam

dining per adult per night is 38.99
zjz at a mod saves 46.13 (41 plus tax) per night
so if she could manage to find availability with the zjz code in the same resort you are already staying at on the dates you already have wich gets less and less likely by the minute, she could save about 7.14/night by using the zjz code instead of the free dining code.

zjz is a package code with dining. But you do have to puchase room and tickets to be a package and therefor be elligable for the dining plan. You can not add dining to a room only.
I find the following list of codes -
BUK - Room only
BUL - Room only
ZJU - Package (room +tickets)
ZJY - Package (room +tickets)
ZJZ - Package (room +tickets+dining)
ZJV - Package (room +tickets+dining)
I don't know why there are two for each but they are supposedly enterchangeable. Make sure you provide the CM with the proper code and you could always try the second code for what you want if the first doesnt work. Some CM's wether it be laziness, rudeness, or lack of knowledge just don't enter but one code. So if you call and say you want the BUL discount they will put it in and tell you that is for room only and not give you options. Or if you call and ask for the current special the may remember BUL and put it in but not know of the other codes and tell you that is room only.

Are you actually checking in on 8/27? I tried to price it online for you for 10 nights with that check-in date and there were no mods available at all. If you called and asked them to try and convert from free DDP to the other code, they might be able to find availability, but then they would charge the $50 change fee since you're less than 45 days out and the new package would be less money. You'd only be ahead about $20 at that point...don't know if it would be worth it or not. :confused3

I had a CM tell me that the codes simply tell them where you saw the ad..helps them with advertising. I imagine this type forum messes that up for them, not sure if it is enough to bother them tho.
I have an interest in sales and advertising, so this would perk my ears up
