Today I noticed on the WDW web site that you could only see the 2007 rates, yesterday the drop down menu had 2006 and 2007 rates, I hope that means they are getting ready to post the 2008 rates. Might be wishful thinking though....:surfweb:
It's one of those things. I'd like to make a firm plan and since next year we *have* to go during school vacation, I think I'd better hop to it. Part of me is holding back because I have Beach Club dreams and an All Star budget. I know when I call, I'll be just stunned by the cost of the deluxe hotels.
I think I'll just try to call tomorrow anyways.

 I think it is awful that they wait so long to post the rates!!! I am trying to get a budget together for April 2008! Still waiting patiently...

It's even harder for those of us planning a Feb 2008 vacation. I'd like to get the price of the rooms squared away before Southwest opens their dates for flights.
We're going in February too. I've become a compulsive Ding! checker. (If there is such a phrase.) :) Right now the specials seem to be good through 10/31/07.

I know Sothwest fares are booking through Jan 11 right now, it shouldn't be much longer before Feb and Mar are open. I'm a DINGer too :rolleyes1

According to their website, Southwest will release fares through 3.7.08 on 8.23.08 ... It has been my experience that sometimes they actually update their website a day or two before this, so it is a good idea to check often! (We are going in February, so I am anxious to purchase our tickets as well!)

ok it may be because i'm a newbie but what is a Ding Ding checker?

I asked the same question a year or so ago too. If you go to Soutwest Airlines website click on "download ding" it will "ding" on your computer when they have great rates for cities you select, it can really get you good deals, like 49 dollars each way!

I can't get DING to work on my computer. It won't connect. Probably has something to do with the firewall settings on my antivirus.

I downloaded DING yesterday :)
I just have a question for anyone out there that would be willing to answer: I know this was mentioned veofre in a thread (but I cannot find it). If I book a room-only ressie for 2008, I will just pay for one night when I book it, and pay the balance off either before/when I check-in to the resort?

Room only is one night deposit and balance at check in and you can make changes up 5 day before you get there

So I have booked my Feb 2008 trip already. I have paid the one night deposit. Can I add the tickets and dining once I get there, or do I have to do it when the rates come out? I am just wondering. I am wanting to use my income tax to pay for my trip (tickets and DDP), so I have to wait to add them to my pkg. I am just trying to see what is the best option.
I am going to pay my room balance off in November, so when I get there can I just pay for our tickets and DDP??

08 rates will probably be out early to mid aug. i don't expect the rates to change very much except weekends/weekday rates may be different.

I called this morning and was given a rate for Feb. 2008 for room only. I told her I didn't think that the rates were out yet. She told me room only rates are out but not packages or AAA. Is she correct? She quoted me a price for the room, but I am still wondering if that was a 2007 price?

You can book a room at 07 rates, price will change once the new rates are announced.

Arrgh! don't scare me like that. I've been checking probably as much as everyone else here and I thought I missed out on something. I know we keep hearing August, but I'm just thinking they'll magically appear before then, and august is the "safe time" for the CMs to tell people.

I called yesterday and July/August has now gone to "should be available August/September".. We will be able to make ADRS before we can reserve our package... :confused3

I called on Thursday to ask a couple of questions and was told by a CM to expect package rates the middle of August. I then called yesterday to book my Room Only and that CM also said August and that he's telling everyone to start looking the end of July into the 1st couple weeks of August.

I can tell you for a fact that the CM was wrong on that one. The last two years, I was able to book our stays on August 15th.

Oh and by the way, I called Disney reservations on Monday and booked a ten day stay at the Wilderness Lodge. (of course, it was room only at 2007 rates) I asked for just a standard view room.
I asked if there was any way she could go back and see how much the rooms went up every year. She punched around in the computer and said that, in 2007, the rates went up $16.00 per night from those in 2006.
She also told me that the typical annual rate increase is 6%.
When I asked if she knew when the 2008 rates would be posted, she said she felt like it would be mid-August which would line up with the past two years.
Hope this helps somebody, Lisa
I called today too and booked a bunkbed room at WL for the last week of February, 2008. That's when our school vacation will be and with ds14 at the high school, there is no chance of taking any extra days off. With two growing boys, they really can't share.
Here's the kicker - the CM said that the one night deposit with tax came to $416 and change. To me, that seems to be ridiculous. My plan is to keep the ressies for the moment, look into offsite hotels and consider just getting adjoining rooms at AS or POP.
*sigh*

$416??? for one night? do they get gold lined chocolates on their pillows, bed turn down service and gold leafed hot chocolate before bedtime for that? lol

07-16-2007, 06:28 AM
$416 sound right. That's peak season and a woods view room with bunkbeds at WL for 2007 is $370 per night. With tax it's $416.25.
NHWX, two connecting rooms at a value would be $238 before tax.
Can one of your boys fit in the trundle bed at Port Orleans Riverside? That's only $185 plus tax in Peak Season 2007.

We plan on going to Disney World in February 2008...so I'm dying to be able to book my package! I want to be able to just pay it off completely before going! And we want to go for 10 days this year.
And I am not the most patient person :)
Hang tight everyone!

I guess I don't see what the big deal is. I have a trip booked for July of 2008 as well. And though I agree it's ridiculous that Disney hasn't released 2008 rates yet, it doesn't concern me in the least. I figure on about a 4% increase over 2007 rates. Simple enough.:confused3

I am figuring that, but I am worried about the prices being higher during holidays or weekends. I would like to know for sure, because I may change my resort or dates based on what those rates are.

It matters to me because even though I have a budget figure, but I really want this trip paid for in full before we go. Having a certain amount in my head may make a world of difference on the # of days we get to go as well has the actually arrival and departure dates. It's hard to book anything else unless you can nail down the right dates. That means airfare and ADR's.

If I go ahead and book a 2008 stay at a moderate(leaning towards CSR) and then after the 2008 rates come out, I decide the increase was too much for my budget, am I able to take the deposit and apply it towards a reservation at one of the value resorts?
Thanks!

I have read on another thread that when rates are released they will be put out at midnight when they do the nightly maintenance on the website.
I live in Oz so I am always on the board at different times to everyone in the USA and the UK, I will post straight away if I see anything, BUT should I book then post so I get in first!!;) ;)

The $185 at POR Riverside during peak season, actually came to $204 (damn tax). I'm betting it goes up to at least 6%, supply/demand, they know they can get the rooms full, so they will for sure, up the price.

Last year it was August 4. I played this same waiting game last year. And, I had a basic package at POR, so when the package came out, I just called and they added the Dining Plan and I needed tickets, so I got the 6 day expiration tickets. No park hoppers or water park.
I did get a voucher for the speedboats-buy 60 minute get an extra 30.
1 round of putt putt for one person
$15 voucher for Planet Hollywood-I have all 3 yet too, never used them, good till Oct.

My concern is how much will there be in weekedays vs weekned rates. ONe of the things I haved about onsite stays is the same rates no matter what day just season. Also there will no longer be the effective date of check in rate to be the same for the remainder of the stay.
So I will hope for some good benefit to off set some of the not so good changes! Heres hoping!

I wouldn't be too concerned about weekend versus weekday unless you are only going on the weekend. My theory is that disney will actually reduce the weekday rate by the amount they increase the weekend rate.
For example:
Last years weekly rate of $1500 would equal 2008s weekly rate of $1600 (yearly increase).
At $1500, each day would cost $214.29
With the new plan (my theory only) the days may be divided as such:
sunday thru thursday Rates would be $200
Friday & Saturday rates would be $300

I just got off the phone with Central Reservations. The CM said that the trundle bed at Riverside only fits children up to age 9. Since my younger son will be 12 this winter, I went with the two connecting rooms at Pop Century. I really did want to have a hot tub but saving (at 2007 rates) $132/night before adding taxes goes a long, long ways towards making this vacation possible.
For anyone else doing this - if you want to pay only the deposit on the lower priced ressie, you'll have to cancel the first reservation and make a new reservation for the lower priced room. Otherwise, they're happy to apply the higher deposit amount to your new reservation. And personally, I'd like to keep the money until February!

The hot tubs are over-rated, crowded and people don't shower before jumping right in.
