Since I enjoyed reading so many food reports and they were so helpful before they left, I figured I’d try writing one of my own. Only I’m not really a writer or very good with description, so this will be heavy on the photos and light on the words. :rotfl: I will do my best to describe everything and will be happy to answer any questions.

Cast
Me, 23 I like things plain- with no sauce on them. I like meat, potatoes, vegetables and fried onions. I don’t like spicy food. I wish that I ate more fish.

Mom -in her 50s. Likes rib-eye steak, potatoes, vegetables, & salads. She enjoys sauces and is willing to try new foods.

Dad- in his 50s. claims he could eat steak every night. Likes soups and bread and won’t eat anything with a sauce on it. He HATES cheese. He always finishes everything on his plate.

Lynn, 22. Probably the most willing to try new things. Like me she wants to eat more fish, but unlike me she will actually order it! :lmao:

Mike –17 likes seafood, meat, and dessert. Really he likes eating in general. ;) Doesn’t care for French fires. :upsidedow Mike is also willing to try new things.

Mary, 13. the baby of the family likes to play it safe when it comes to eating. She likes chicken fingers, ribs, steak, any type of potatoes, & ice cream. :butterfly

This trip was to celebrate my college graduation. :woohoo: I took care of all hotel, airfare, car reservations etc, but most importantly I choose where we would eat with a little help from my youngest sister and brother.

I choose to use the Disney Dining Plan because we eat a lot of steak and I also wanted to be able to try somethings that we normally wouldn’t eat if we were paying OOP. i.e I would have never ordered $11 crab cakes to try them if we weren’t on the plan.

I'll post my first review after I upload the photos!

We were all famished after a long day of air travel. We arrived at Spoodles about 15 minutes early for our 6:10 ADR and were seated with-in five minutes.
Spoodles has a great atmosphere, with high ceilings and lots of windows that give the room a great warm light as the sun sets.

Appetizers-
Dad- Lamb Kabobs Served with chick pea salad and harissa. My dad is not a big fan of sauces and I think he scraped most of the sauce off but he said that overall they were really good
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-4-07-103.jpg

My mom & I both had the Lemon Shrimp-Served with preserved lemon and parsley. We both liked this shrimp dish. The shrimp tasted great, very fresh. I’m not a huge fan of things that have a strong lemon flavor, but the lemon on this shrimp wasn’t over-powering
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-4-07-99.jpg

Lynn- Margherita Flatbread - Made with vine-ripened tomato, basil, fresh mozzarella, and balsamic vinegar reduction. She really liked it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-4-07-100.jpg

Mike-Calamari Served with olive-pepperocini relish. We are big fans of Calamari. We eat it in almost every restaurant we go to in our regular lives, and ate it every where it was available on this trip. This was very good. Probably the best of the trip. It was crispy and good and the breading was great. Everyone tried it and liked it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-4-07-104.jpg

Mary- Four Cheese Flatbread- Made with roasted garlic puree and sage. She thought that this was just okay. I tried it and thought the same thing.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-4-07-101.jpg

Entrée
Dad- Tuscan-pressed Cornish Game Hen - Served with oven-roasted vegetable ragout and lemon-basil vinaigrette. He said it was good(though he will say this about everything he eats on the trip) It came with vegetables and some potatoes which he said was very good also.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-4-07-113.jpg

My mother and I also had the same entrée- Oak-fired Steak Kababs - Served with multigrain pilaf, balsamic red onions, and harissa. We both got it with out the onions and harissa. The steak was very good and they give you a lot. I only ate half and shared the rest with the table.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-4-07-108.jpg

Lynn-Lemon-Garlic Shrimp Linguine - Made with preserved lemons, Italian parsley, shaved garlic, and butter. She liked it a lot.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-4-07-109.jpg

Mike- Wood-grilled Pork Chop - Served with white bean cassolet and tarragon-chive pistou. He thought these were “quite enjoyable”
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-4-07-112.jpg

Mary- Rigatoni - Made with mild Italian sausage, tomatoes, and portobello mushrooms. She thought that this was just okay. She ended up eating a lot of my steak
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-4-07-107.jpg

Desserts
Dad, Lynn, & Mary had the Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee – they all thought it was great and ate the whole serving.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-4-07-125.jpg

My mom had plain ice cream
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-4-07-122.jpg

Mike had the White Chocolate-Orange Cake - He really liked it and said it was “cool looking and tasted great too!”
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-4-07-123.jpg

I had the make your own sundae. the vanilla ice cream was very good & so were the sprinkles.

Awesome review of Spoodles Colleen, and wonderful pictures too! We have ADR's at Spoodles on Sept. 2. This is a restaurant we've never been to before so your review and pictures are very helpful. I was considering the rigatoni, but after seeing it and reading your review I think I may go for either the lemon-garlic shrimp linguine or the oak-fired steak kabobs. They both look delicious! Thank you so much!

ABC Commissary

Mom, Mike, Mary and me all had the cheeseburger w/ fries. We all thought they were fine. They didn’t taste bad, they just weren’t great. They were what you would expect.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-61.jpg

Dad had the fish and chips-
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-62.jpg

Lynn had the -Vegetable Noodle Stir Fry - Asian vegetables with lo mein noodles in a soy stir-fry. She said it was good. She also had the fresh fruit, which she was able to get as her side item (though this may have been a mistake)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-60.jpg

Mike also had the fresh fruit. Both said it was good & fresh.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-63.jpg

I don’t think that anyone got dessert here.

We did get some dessert later though.
Lynn had a Mickey Bar. Do I really need to review?:lmao: :thumbsup2
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-212.jpg

My mom & Mary both had cookie ice cream sandwiches. This was enjoyed by all.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-213.jpg

Before Fantasmic that night I had the single scoop of cookie dough from here:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-325.jpg
I didn't get a picture though because I ate it while we walked to F! I was very good ice cream though.

And since these food photos aren't as nice as Spoodles,(and the fact that I won't be doing a trip report) here's a few Fantastmic shots!

Mama Melrose
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-269.jpg

I wasn’t very excited to be going to Mama Melrose, but had booked it with the Fantasmic Dinning Package 6 months before and really wanted to keep the package.

We had tried Brown Derby last year, but didn’t like it enough to use 2 TS credits and my dad really doesn’t like buffets so Hollywood and Vine wasn’t an option. I had considered trying to get ADRs somewhere else but it was easiest and involved less traveling if we just ate at MGM.

So we arrived at 5:00 for our 5:15 ADR and were seated within 10 minutes.
The lighting was dark, like you’d expect at an Italian restaurant.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-278.jpg

Our server was not very good. First she made us order appetizer, entrée, and dessert all at the same time. We asked if we had to order dessert now and she said if we didn’t want it to take a long time, then yes.

Five of us ordered soft drinks which came quickly enough, but she forgot my dad’s beer. :drinking1  I’m not sure if she forgot or just didn’t bring it. :confused3 Eventually she brought it to the table a good 10 minutes after he’d ordered it.

Appetizers-
Both my dad and brother had the calamari-both thought it was very good. I tried it and thought it was very good, but Spoodles was better.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/x6-5-07-285.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/x6-5-07-284.jpg

My mom & Lynn had the Mixed Greens - Made with Balsamic vinaigrette and Gorgonzola cheese.. My mom loved it and Lynn also liked it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/x6-5-07-287.jpg

I had the Caesar Salad. It was good, but had to much dressing on it. The Crostini that it came with was very good.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/x6-5-07-289.jpg
I apologize for the shadow, it's my lens!

Mary had the Bruchetta. She really liked it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/x6-5-07-286.jpg

Entrée
Mom- Oven-baked Chicken alla Parmigiana - Served over spaghetti. She was surprised at how much she liked this. She said the chicken melted in your mouth and not dried out at all.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-290.jpg

Dad & Mary. Charred Butcher Tender Steak - Topped with gorgonzola butter on roasted red pepper polenta and grilled asparagus with a red wine reduction. They asked for this with out the butter or pepper. When the food runners brought it out there was also no asparagus. They were quick to bring out two plates of asparagus though. Both said the steak and asparagus was good.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-293.jpg

Me- Spicy Italian Sausage - Served with Rigatoni pasta, peppers, onions, and a tomato basil sauce topped with Caprino cheese. I make spicy sausage with rigatoni all the time. This was to spicy for me though. The noodles and cheese were okay, but this was probably my least favorite dish of the trip.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-294.jpg

Lynn- Penne Alla Vodka - Made with Pancetta and sweet onion, finished with tomato basil sauce, cream, Vodka, and Pecorino Romano. She really liked this and so did I. I wish that I had gotten this instead.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-291.jpg

Mike - Grilled Chicken flatbread. He said it was very good and exactly what he was expecting
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-292.jpg

Dessert-
Mike-Vanilla Gelato -good
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-298.jpg

Lynn- Chocolate Gelato-good
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-296.jpg

Dad, Mom & Mary- Warm Chocolate Truffle Cake –good. Mary really liked the warm center

The center
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-5-07-299.jpg

I didn’t have dessert

Overall Mama Melrose wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t great. The food was all just okay/good. They didn’t have any great desserts to choose from.
The service was bad. Our waitress seemed to disappear for long periods of time so we were unable to get refills in a timely manner.
It was definelty the worst service of the trip. It was our least favorite of the trip.

I had the same dilemma. I'm glad that we kept the MM reservations(even though we probably wouldn't eat there again any time soon) because I liked the Fantasmic seating. It was off to the side, but it really didn't matter. We got there at 8:05 for a 9:00 show and the theater was more than 1/2 full already. I also liked that the FDP seating was close to the exit. We made it out of the theater pretty quickly.

:lmao: Not TMI at all. I meant that allowing a side with that particular item may have been the mistake of the CM. He also allowed my brother to order the fruit as a side item, while still giving him a fruit. The fruit it self was good...no problems!;)

Your pictures are fantastic. Seriously, I felt like I was looking at photos in Bon Apetit!
That is so nice. Thank you.

Can't wait for more - the pictures are beauitful did you have a

I love your Fantasmic pictures. We were asked to order desert with our whole meal last year for lunch at LTT. I'm thinking I'll rebel if asked to do that again. Who knows what (if anything) I might want for desert when I'm finished. :goodvibes Can't wait to read the rest of your reviews.

Sunshine Seasons
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-55.jpg

We choose Sunshine seasons because I had heard they had a wide variety of food.

My mom & I both had Caesar Salad - With oak-fired chicken. It was good, but had way to much dressing on it. I asked for it on the side and she said it wasn’t possible. My mom didn’t care for the chicken- it was kind of dry
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-48.jpg

For dessert my mom had a chocolate brownie. It was pretty good. She said it tasted like a Sam’s Club/Costco type brownie.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-50.jpg

Dad, Mary, & Lynn all had the Rotisserie Chicken with mashed potatoes, and carrots. For dessert Lynn had an orange, Mary had a dirt cup, and my dad had a cookie. All were good.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-49.jpg

Mike also had the Rotisserie Chicken with mashed potatoes and rice with a brownie for dessert.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-54.jpg

Everyone thought the Rotisserie Chicken was very good. A nice change from the typical burger/chicken strips/fries.
Overall we enjoyed Sunshine Seasons and would eat there again.

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT, the newest version though is called the XTi. I've had it for about 3 years. About a year ago I bought a canon L series lens, which provides crisp & clear photos.

Your photos are amazing. What settings did you use to take the great night shots at fantasmic and did you use a tripod?

We are going back next month and are planning on taking pictures of all of our food. I think I put on five pounds just looking at your photos!

Other than that the food looks great but what is a dirt cup? It looks chocolately
It was chocolate pudding with Oreo crumbs sprinkled on top. There was also a candy gummy worm on top.

Thank you.:)

I shoot all my photographs in RAW format and then process them in Adobe Lightroom. This allows me to make adjustments in brightness and white balance. The best tip I can give is adjust the levels of a photograph in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. This will brighten underexposed (dark) photos or darken overexposed (blown out) photos.
Example:
Not the best photo, but it was all I could find!

Mary wearing a Mummy hat
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/dark-1.jpg

With a very simple level adjustment:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-11-07-8.jpg

Honestly I'm not very good at giving advice, but I sure am good at asking for it. :rotfl: The Photography board here is a fantastic resource!

Now on to the night photos-
the Fantasmic shots I posted were all shot using Shutter Priority. that means I choose the shutter speed and the camera chose the a aperture. I typically used between 1/30- 1/60 shutter speed. The camera automatically choose the widest(smallest number) 2.8 available for the lens I was using.

Honestly it is trial and error. You just have to shoot a bunch and know that if you get a handful of keepers you are lucky. Most importantly you must use a tripod!

Le Cellier was a restaurant that I was not at all worried about. I knew that it might not live up to the hype, but it would still be good.

I told my family that this was the hardest restaurant to get into right after The Castle for breakfast. I'm not sure if that's true, but they were impressed with my reservation making ability nonetheless.:rotfl2:

It was hard to get a reservation though. The only reservations they had for six people was 4:20 or 8:50. This was when I was making my reservations about 183 days before our arrival. This was going to be an early night for us and we don't like to eat that late anyway, so I took the 4:20. I called back a few times over the next few months but they never had anything later than 4:20.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-181.jpg

We arrive at 4:00 for our 4:20 reservations. We were told we would not be seated until at least our reservation time, but we’re seated after five minutes.

Glow-Tini for Lynn
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-187.jpg

Appetizers
Lynn- Seared Rare Tuna - Served with watercress salad, house-made cracker, and wasabi foam. She really liked this, the cracker and foam were really good as was the tuna
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-193.jpg

Dad- Beef and Barley Soup - Rich beef broth and fresh veggies. He thought this was really good. He like that there was a lot of good beef and not to much barley.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-194.jpg

Mike & Myself- Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup - Made with Moosehead Beer and smoked bacon. Oh the hype of this soup. It was one of those things I had heard to much about that I was scared it couldn’t live up to the hype. My brother was excited because of all the good reviews about too. (He likes food porn too!:rotfl: )Thankfully it was good. It was creamy and cheesy and tasted to good with the pretzel bread.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-195.jpg

Mary ordered shrimp
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-192.jpg
This shrimp was very good with a generous amount of shrimp. My mom & Lynn both really liked the salad that was under the shrimp.

My mom had Mixed Field Greens - Served with crumbled bleu cheese and pecan shallot vinaigrette. She said it was good, but not as good as the similar salad at Mama Melrose the night before
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-191.jpg

The bread sticks were so good. We loved everyone of them and our server even offered to bring us a second serving (of course we took her up on it)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-189.jpg

Entrée
Me, mom, Mary- 7 oz Filet Mignon - Glazed with maple BBQ sauce and accompanied by cream cheese mashed potatoes. Mary & I got it with out the BBQ. My mom was surprised at how much she like a BBQ sauce on her steak. I ordered it medium-rare and it came out pink, just how I wanted it. The cream cheese mashed potatoes were delicious. I was to full to finish all of them but I wanted to.:)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-196.jpg

Mike- 14 oz New York Strip Steak - Served with balsamic red onions, watercress, and roasted Yukon potatoes finished with veal demi-glace He said the steak was “worth every penny”
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-199.jpg

Dad- Herb Crusted Prime Rib - Served with Roasted Yukon potatoes, finished with veal demi-glace. As usually his comment on this food was “good”
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-198.jpg

Lynn- Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - Baby portobella wild mushroom risotto with white truffle and herb butter sauce topped with fried parsnips. She loved every part of it. She said it was “really really good”
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-197.jpg

Dessert
Me- Creme Brulee Sampler - Maple creme brulee with carmelized sugar, and Cinnamon whipped cream vanilla creme brulee with carmelized sugar and Vanilla whipped cream. The vanilla was very good, the Maple was good, but much to sweet and I was only able to eat two or three bites.
I didn't take a photo of this:confused3

Mary –Campfire S’mores- it was good, but she said it was really frozen so it was hard to eat
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-205.jpg

Dad- chocolate chocolate cake not surpiingly his comment about the cake was “good” :rotfl:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-206.jpg

Mom, Lynn, & Mike all had the Chocolate “Moose” What a hit! My mom thought it was both “cool looking and tasty” and it was her favorite dessert of the trip. When asked later that night how she felt about it Lynn responded “I want more right now” and Mike said it was “quite tasty”
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-6-07-204.jpg

Colleen - thanks for all the wonderful pictures and food reviews! I found this thread while having a "Should we keep our Mama Melrose ressie or change it?" moment, so appreciate your thoughts on the food there, I hadn't even considered the Penne and Vodka dish, but it looks better than it sounds in the menu description.

Love that Glowtini shot! That's just beautiful! Well... one of many beautiful shots, you do a great job. DH and I saw the people running in ponchos in the rain at EPCOT and said "That looks familiar!" :)

After a morning at Islands of Adventure we headed back to The Caribbean Beach to eat at Old Port Royale, the food court there.

I quickly got my food first so that I would be able to take pictures of the food before everyone started eating.

I ordered a Turkey BLT with no tomato. I was the first to sit down and while waiting for everyone took a bite of my sandwich. I then saw that instead of regular mayo, there was RED mayo:confused3 on this sandwich. It was actually more of a pink, but I knew that I didn’t like it. :sad2:

Since I knew that we would have 6 CS left over at the end of the week, I tossed the sandwich and went to get a burger. I figured that would be quick. HAHAHA. I quickly explained to my family, who all had their food now and were headed to the table, the situation with my food and told them I’d be right back.

There were two people in front of me in line and two people who had already ordered waiting for their food. I ordered one cheeseburger with fries. The two people who were waiting got their orders, then the two people in front of me got their orders. I figured I was next, and you could see that they were cooking another round of burgers. Well those were cooked and handed out to other people. I told myself that maybe those people had ordered before me and had come back for their order. No problem, I’m sure I’m next. So then another batch of burgers comes up and those are all given to other people again. Now I know I’m next. I’m sure that all the other people waiting around me ordered after me. I know I’ll get mine next, but I don’t.

I look up and see those “order cards” which say what goes on each tray. We’ll I can see that of the six or so orders that are up there, none have just one single food item, like mine does. I finally say something to the woman and she blows me off saying they are cooking the burgers. I know that my order has been misplaced and try to tell her. With the next batch she gives three other orders their food and finally asks me again what I ordered and hands me a cheese burger. :sad2: :sad1:

I was so disappointed that it took so long. When I got back to the table my family had completely finished all their food and were mostly done with their desserts. So no photos from this meal, with the exception of Mary’s dessert.
The moral of the story? Always order the mayo on the side. :upsidedow

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-7-07-186.jpg

My family didn't say much about what they ate and I was to upset to ask. I believe there were chicken tenders, chicken sandwich, and a BLT all eaten. Everything was fine, typical cafeteria food.

Can't leave this post with only one photo though!;) :lmao:

The main reason I made reservations at Raglan Road was to hear the Irish music, which my dad especially loves. My mom doesn’t like to eat really late so even though the band wasn’t coming on until 9.

I made our reservations for 7pm. Six months before this seemed like a good idea. But as I read more and more on the DIS, I realized that these were to early. We arrived at 6:45 and we’re seated by 7.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-7-07-259.jpg

Lynn & I split the Scallop forest. I love how it came on forks. Six scallops was a decent serving for two people. She really liked the salad that it came with.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-7-07-270.jpg

My mom & dad split an order of calamari and Mike & Mary split an order of calamari. Everyone really enjoyed this appetizer. The fried vegetables were also very good.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-7-07-269.jpg
I should have taken more pictures of the calamari, but I was to busy stuffing the scallops in my mouth :rotfl2:

Entrée
Lynn- ordered...some type of sausage. I don't have it noted down and I can't tell which one it is from the avaiable online menu. :confused3 :rotfl2: I know that it was homemade and was either chicken sausage or seafood sausage. :confused3 This is not a helpful review:lmao: She liked it and said it was "good, what I was expecting"
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-7-07-274.jpg

Mike- It's Not Bleedin' Chowder - Mussels, prawns, scallops and fresh seafood infused with white wine and finished with cream and fresh potato. Loves most shellfish so he loved this.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-7-07-275.jpg

My dad & Mary orderd the Serious Sirloin Steak - 10oz sirloin topped with Irish whiskey glaze, and drizzled with fresh basil oil. Served with mashed potatoes and topped with crispy fried onion strings. I tried the fired onion strings and they were delicious. Both said that they liked the steak & potatoes. Our waitress gave them a hard time about ordering steak when there were so many authentic Irish items on the list. They just laughed and ordered the steak anyway.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-7-07-272.jpg

My mom tried to ordered the steak too, but when the waitress gave her a hard time she changed to fish & chips. :rotfl2: I also had the fish & chips. The fish was pretty good. The batter was pretty thick and crispy. It tasted fresh and was served piping hot. The chips were mediocore. They were thick cut fries that normally I like, but these were under done so the centers were kind of hard.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-7-07-273.jpg

Desserts
Lynn & I were both to full for dessert.
Mary ordered Dunbrody Kiss - Chef Dundon's gift to America. Chocolate, add chocolate, and then add some more. I did have a bite- it was very good! Mary liked it too.

My mom ordered Raspberry Riot - Frozen raspberries surround vanilla ice-cream on a shortcake base and coated with warm white chocolate. - She said it was great. The raspberries were very fresh and delicious.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-7-07-280.jpg

My dad ordered Bailey's Creme Brulee Tart which he said was “fine”
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-7-07-278.jpg

Mike ordered Banoffi Beauty - Caramel base. Add banana with our special secret sauce. Top it off with fresh cream. –This was the best dessert he ate on the trip. He still talks about it today. I’m not a big fan of fruit with dessert so I can’t give another opinion, be he LOVED this. I think he would have married if it was legal:rotfl:

Over all we liked Raglan Road and would eat there again. But we won’t be putting it on a “must eat” list.

We were done eating by 8:25. My parents decided to have a drink at the bar and listen to the band. Lynn & Mike went to the Lego store and Mary & I went to take some photos.

I try to make sure to look at your posts during breakfast or lunch because those pictues certainly make my mouth water. We tried Raglan Road last year, just a few months after it opened. I had the "not chowder" too and really enjoyed it...even though I am from New England and it's definitely not like any chowder we have here.

Thank you for sharing some of your other photos too. They are fantastic and make me feel like I'm almost there.

Ohh...your reviews and pictures are amazing! I can't wait to read (and see) more...lol....

Thank you

Will you be doing a trip report as well? Please do! I really am enjoying your reviews!

No. No trip report for me. I don't want to bore you will the details of the trip.

I LOVE your pictures of EPCOT in the rain. Those pictures really brought me there! It seems that when we are in WDW, we always get rain in EPCOT! Great pics and reviews!
Thanks. We felt the same way about Animal Kingdom after it rained on us last year. It was a park we were almost expecting rain in . But it doesn't really work with all weather - I don't think on our next trip we'll be expecting a high of 96 on our AK day! :rotfl2:

Loving your food report and drooling over your pictures. I have the same camera but have never gotten such beautiful shots with it of anything close up like your food. Can I ask what settings you are using for the food? And I assume you are not using a flash, is that right?
Thank you. No flash when ever possible. So with the spoodles pics and most lunch photos there was enough available light to turn off the flash. However that wasn't the case at most dinners.

For all the food pictures I used the "p" setting. This allowed me to set the ISO at 800 and to choose whether I wanted to use the flash. How ever on this setting, the camera chooses the shutter speed and the f stop. It mostly was 1/60 with f/4 or f/5 when the flash was on.

DH and I saw the people running in ponchos in the rain at EPCOT and said "That looks familiar!"

Looking forward to the rest of your reviews and pictures, we have some of the same restaurants booked. Glad you had a good experience at Le Cellier. Do you think eating there very early for dinner helped? Less crowded? Less weary servers?

thank you. Yes. I think going early was really helpful. There were quit a few empty tables when we were seated, though they were all filled withing a half hour. Our server Sarah was excellent and so were other servers who came over to joke with us.

great reviews and pictures

This is such a wonderful review! Your pictures are awesome!

AWESOME reviews.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.:grouphug:

Great reviews! And lovely pictures as well. We have a Canon Rebel and absolutely love it. Takes wonderful pictures. Totally worth the money IMO!
Thanks, I love  my digital rebel too.

I can almost feel the rain.... (We don't bother with ponchos. We just think of it as riding Kali River Rapids with no wait! )

:rotfl: We didn't really bother with ponchos. either. We waited for the rain to die down a little and headed for the car. We had just left the park when it started to pour! We were all drenched when we got back to the car. It was fun though:thumbsup2

enjoyed reading your dining reviews so far! i got very excited when i was looking @ the le cellier pics cause we are going there for the 1st time on our next trip!! i've already decided what i want - shrimp cocktail for appy, mushroom filet, and creme brulee sampler!! I agree with you about Le Cellier, Spoodles and Mama Melrose.
Enjoyed the first two, didn't think that MM was that great.
Wonderful pictures.

Old Port Royale Breakfast

Our next day was a free morning. We went to the food court to try a hot breakfast, our first ever a Disney! Honestly I had low expectations. We love homemade breakfasts, but are not really big fans of breakfasts from restaraunts.
Both my mom & dad had the French toast
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-8-07-17.jpg
Both said it was very good.

All four of the kids got Mickey Waffles.
With sausage
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-8-07-9.jpg

with bacon
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-8-07-8.jpg

Wow, these were really good. I was surprised as how much I loved them. Everyone enjoyed them. The sausage and bacon were both good also.

we used a snack credit for fruit.
I had cantaloupe (two waters that came with the meal are also visible)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-8-07-11.jpg
Canteloupe was very cold & fresh, just the way I like it. :)

Mary had pineapple, also very good.

“Lunch”

Since we ate a big breakfast and knew we’d be eating an early dinner we had a ‘light’ lunch.

We split up this day- At Epcot my dad had a crunch bar ice cream, which he said was “good” and Lynn &Mike both had Mickey ice cream bars, which of course they loved. No photos since I wasn't there.

My mom, Mary, & I decided to stop at the Magic Kingdom Bakery that I had heard so many good things about. :) There were so many yummy things to choose from.
I thought about cinnamon rolls...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-8-07-68.jpg
and other goodies...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-8-07-67.jpg

but ended up going with the French Toast bread- since I heard so many good things about it. It was a nice moist bread with a French toast flavored filling inside.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-8-07-79.jpg
I love French toast so I loved this. I ate every bite. :cool1:

My mom & Mary both got the homemade ice cream sandwiches.

For dinner we needed to ear early because we had Cirque tickets for the 6:00 show and wanted to get there by 5:30. We swam for too long and didn’t have time to head over to the All Star Sports restaurant, so we ended up at Wolf Gang Puck Express.

Mom- Chicken Caesar Sandwich - Sliced pan-roasted chicken breast tossed in our signature Caesar dressing with romaine lettuce and tomato. Served on oven-baked herb bread with homemade potato chips. - She said it was good, but liked way Lynn got better
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-8-07-183.jpg

Lynn ordered linguine with tomato basil, garlic, & cheese . Linguini with Tomato, Basil, and Garlic - Fresh tomato, garlic, olive oil, fresh basil and freshly grated parmesan. She said this was very good. All the flavors tasted great together.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-8-07-181.jpg

Dad, Mike, & Mary all ordered the BBQ Chicken Sandwich (oven-warmed) - Sliced chicken breast in our sweet and tangy bbq sauce with melted provolone cheese, tomato, and red onions. Served on oven-baked herb bread with homemade potato chips.. Everyone thought it was really good. Everyone ordered it with out tomato & onions, and my dad got it with out cheese.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-8-07-182.jpg

I had the Rosemary Rotisserie Chicken - Juicy and crispy-skinned half chicken, served with garlic butter sauce and garlic mashed potatoes. –There was so much chicken. It could have easily been split between two people. The mashed potatoes were very good, though they had a lot of butter on them. One of the best parts of Wolf Gang Puck was that they had Barq’s Root Beer. I wish more places carried it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-8-07-184.jpg

Dessert was cookies, brownies, and an orange for Lynn. Everything was good, nothing extraordinary, but not bad.

I just have to tell you how much I have enjoyed your reviews and pictures of dishes/meals. You have done a great job. I am drooling just thinking about some of these meals (the pictures make them jump to life on the screen)

I miss my old cannon rebel. I bought it in 1997 for our honeymoon and it went crazy on me in 2003 (the day i was heading for the hospital to have our 2nd child!). Even though I switched to digital (not a rebel) I still miss my ''baby''. I was able to get some beautiful pictures from it. I am looking for a new compact digital............maybe I will head over to photograpy board and see what they have to say.

Keep up the good work with your reviews. If you end up doing a trip report please add a think thru this thread :worship: Please!!

I decided on Cosmic Ray’s because it seemed to have a wide variety of food. The different lines is kind of a pain in the butt, but we are all old enough to get in line ourselves, so it worked out okay.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-191.jpg

My Dad & Mary went with the chicken tenders with French fries. Both said they enjoyed them. They seemed very fresh & hot. For dessert they had the chocolate cake. This was good, but nothing great.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-116.jpg

Lynn had a grilled chicken sandwich with only lettuce and tomato. She went with the healthy option of apples. The apples came in a bag, which made weary, but they were good! She said they were “good, fresh, crisp, & delicious”
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-119.jpg

Mike went with the cheeseburger which he said was “mediocre”
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-120.jpg

I had the Caesar salad. This was huge! It was good though. The chicken wasn’t dried out. The dressing was just okay. It was prepackaged. I ate two bites of the carrot cake, it wasn’t horrible, it just wasn’t good and I was pretty full from eating the salad. Mary also only ate a few bites of her carrot cake.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-117.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-118.jpg

My mom had the hot dog with French fries. She loved the hot dog. She said it was “good & way better than she was expecting”
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-121.jpg

Overall we liked Cosmic Ray’s. We definitely liked it better than Pinocchio Haus, but would probably try Columbia Harbor House before we eat at Cosmic Ray’s again.

I'm so glad I am finally caught up with you Colleen! Your pics are still awesome. Raglan Road and WPE were on our list of possibilities for our upcoming trip but since we are taking this one with MIL and SIL and we got together and all voted and these 2 places lost out. You are making me regret this! We are going to LeCellier though - I am looking forward to that cheese soup!

I made reservations at Whispering Canyon Café for this night. But the more reviews and info I read about it made it sound like a really long and slow dinner. I was worried that it would take too long and that we wouldn’t get back to the MK in time for the parade. I was also worried about the boat ride to get to WCC, looking back I’m not sure why. Anyway a week before we left I cancelled the WCC café and got a reservation at Kona Café. We arrived at the Polynesian at 4:40, 20 minutes before they opened. We were given a pager and headed over to the gift shop & to the bar. Our reservation was at 5:10, but we were one of the first five parties to be seated at opening.

Starters
Mike, the seafood lover, & Lynn went with the Creamy Kona Seafood Chowder - Creamy bisque with shrimp, fish, lobster and crabmeat. It was a huge serving and they both said it was very good. I almost ordered this but our server said it was slightly spicy, which scared me off, though I tried it and it really didn’t seem spicy at all.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-323.jpg

My mother and Mary went with the Sticky Wings - Glazed chicken wings with a tangy mustard drizzle and toasted sesame seeds. Mary got hers with out the mustard drizzle. They both enjoyed these.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-322.jpg

I really wanted the Caesar salad, but after that huge one from lunch I went with the Lump Crab Cakes - Pan seared lump crab cakes served with Asian tartar and pineapple relish. These were pretty good. Nice crab meat taste. I had them with out the sauce. I didn’t care for the salad, so my sister ate it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-321.jpg

The bread and butter here were also wonderful. We ate two loaves.;) :lmao:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-325.jpg

Entrée
Mike, Mary, My dad, and me all went with the Slow Roasted Prime Rib - Served with mashed Yukon Gold potatoes, and stir-fried broccoli florets. Very good! We all enjoyed this meal. The prime rib was cooked perfectly pink, and the serving was huge. The potatoes and broccoli were also very good. The waitress did give us a bit of a hard time for not ordering something with more of an Polynesian taste, but we’re kind of boring eaters, who sometimes like to play it safe. We all really liked the prime rib!:)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-326.jpg

My mom went with the Char-Crusted Filet Mignon - Served with mashed Yukon Gold potatoes, asparagus, and a 5-spiced mushroom sauce. The filet was cooked exactly how she wanted it. The potatoes and asparagus were also very good.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-328.jpg

Lynn ordered the Macadamia Mahi-Mahi - Served with mushroom rice, sauteed bok choy, lime butter sauce, and crispy fried onions. She was stuffed from her soup, the salad, and bread by the time her dinner arrived, so she didn’t eat much of it, but she did enjoy it. I tried the crispy fried onions and they were good. ;)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-327.jpg

Dessert
We loved that Kona had a display of all their desserts to we could see what we were ordering.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-335.jpg

Dad went with the Caramel-banana Creme Brulee. He said it was “good”
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-329.jpg

Mike ordered the Chocolate Macadamia Nut Tart. This was pretty big and very good. I loved the chocolate palm tree & since I love palm trees he gave it to me.:yay:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-332.jpg

Mary & I both ordered the Kona Kones. These were huge! I only ate about half the ice cream and a few bites of the cone. The ice cream was good and the cone tasted fresh.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-330.jpg

My mom went with the Apple Brown Betty. When our server was explaining the dessert menu, she said she didn’t really enjoy this or recommend it. Or server said it didn’t taste like a typical apple pie, which my mom loves, but is more tart. My mom decided to go for it anyway and really enjoyed it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-9-07-333.jpg

Overall we really liked Kona. It’s a place we would go back to again.

I second Kona as having great food. Atmosphere, not so much. We like lunch better than dinner as it is quieter.

I would rank it second to Puck's.

I am not a breakfast eater but have a friend who keeps sending me pictures of her and her family eating there for breakfast and it is tempting. Looks 'almost' healthy too. The fruit does cancel out the fat, carbs and calories in the Tonga Toast???

Colleen, your review and pictures are awesome. We will be there soon. After seeing your Spectro-light show, I really want to see it again (last time was 6 or 7 years ago); however, all of our ADR's are between 7 and 8 pm, I wonder if we could eat fast enough to get to MK in time for the parade?

Did you guys miss me? :rotfl: ;)

I spent a week in northern Wisconsin with my family then went on a trip to Georgia by myself. Going from eastern time zone to central was so tough it took me a week to recover :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Anyway I'm back and finally reaching the end of this food report.

Flame Tree Barbeque
We decided to go to Flame Tree because it was closer than Tusker House. ;)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-10-07-88.jpg

Both my dad and Mike had the pulled pork sandwitch. Both said it was good. My dad was the only one who ate their beans and said they were “fine” For dessert he had the key lime pie. He said it was “just all-right” (I think this might mean not good)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-10-07-94.jpg

I wasn’t really in the mood for any of their offerings, I really wanted a soft pretzel. So I went in search of one while my family got their food. I found a pretzel stand not to far away from flame tree and was back before my family sat down. I was so disappointed in the pretzel. The cheese was disgusting. It was prepackaged, I think Ortega, and it was not good. The pretzel wasn’t very good either. It was kind of hard and just didn’t taste good. The other day I had one at Islands Of Adventure that was so good, I immediately wanted another. This just wasn’t good.

Bad pretzel :sad2:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-10-07-90.jpg

Mary went with the beef sandwich which she said was good.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-10-07-92.jpg

She also ordered a side of French fries using a snack credit and also ordered onion rings for her & I to split. These were so good! The batter was great, they were crispy, but not burnt. They had a good onion taste. I could have eaten another order.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-10-07-91.jpg

My mom and Lynn went with the ½ chicken. This chicken was very good. Both commented how it was not dried out at all. Lynn loved the cornbread. For dessert my mom had the keylime pie. She took one bite said “yuck” and threw it out.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-10-07-95.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-10-07-96.jpg

For dessert both Mike & Mary had the frozen lemonade. They both really enjoyed this, though they both said it was pretty sour.

Food: B

Thank you for adding to my collection. I snag pics and use them so that we can see what we are going to eat before we get there. This time I have put them on the laptop so instead of just telling my dh where we are going to eat I can show him WHAT we are going to eat. :cool1:

Boma

I was really nervous about Boma. I almost changed it numerous times. However I really wanted to see AKL so I kept the reservation.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-10-07-220.jpg

I didn’t take to many photos.

One thing we didn't like was the watermelon rind salad. Too sweet. Everyone in my family enjoyed the seasoned vegetables (I’m sure they had a clever name that I can’t remember) but I nearly died they were so spicy. Even my mom who doesn’t like spicy thing either thought they were great.

Neither my brother nor I enjoyed the sweet rice(I’m sure there’s a name for this too) anyway I believe it was yellowish and very sweet. Also most of the salads were a little to exotic for our tastes.

Here’s what we enjoyed:
Seafood Gumbo- wow, this was amazing. Potato soup-very good.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-10-07-197.jpg

I loved the spice chicken even more than the prime rib, which was also good. Mike & Lynn enjoyed the salmon, pork, vegetable, soups, bread, couscous & fufu. The potatoes with afritude were very good, and not to spicy for me!

A dessert plate-
I didn't have anything for dessert so I'm not sure what any of these things are. Sorry!:)

A treat! I wasn’t really hungry for dessert so I didn’t have anything. Then somehow I found a little more room when the chef came to our table to bring us a treat.
Deep fried Oreos!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/Coolvolley126/6-10-07-212.jpg

He had been at our table earlier asking us if we liked our food. He told us “you can’t get these in Chicago!” Wow. They were really good. Everyone gobbled them right up.

Later as the chef walked by we asked for a photo with him. He was happy oblige. (does anyone know his name)

What's up with the Boma fried Oreos - I didn't see anything like that when we ate there in 2006!
