Lime green ribbons....that's what I need to put on my shopping list!!! I'll tie it on my backpack/pocketbook.
I received our cruise documents two weeks ago (I think).
We're from Southern New Hampshire.....about 45 min. north of Boston. I'm Cindi, my husband is Peter, my boys are Alex and Corey.
We'll be staying at the Radisson the night before. I called and upgraded to a suite for $141 and that includes breakfast for 4 of us. I thought that seemed like a good deal.

Have you been on the Disney cruise before? It sounds like we'll have a great bunch of people this cruise. Can't wait--Karen

Great job, Karen! I'm Skip, DW is Cindy, DD is Rebecca (5) and DS is Raymond (3).
We originally booked the Radisson then decided we wanted to add a little more "magical" time so took advantage of the Swan $99 pre cruise rate. We have PS at Chef Mickey's Fri evening.
We, like the rest of you, can't wait. The kids usually keep a count down calendar for WDW trips but this time they want to just be surprised on departure day. This will be our first DCL cruise.
Look forward to meeting you all

We were on the Magic last Feb. We are are from Southern NH and it is our vacation week. Looking forward to another excellent trip. Yes , this is my first post. Do I win a prize. We have been using the boards since last year. But I left the posting up to my wife. So here we are again.

Wow Karen!
What a great job!
You've really been paying attention and I'm sure all of us Feb 23rd cruisers are glad you did.
It's nice to see names connected to the usernames we've all become accustomed to.
My name is Lisa and my husband is Drew. My DD is 18 and her name is JoAnna and my youngest DD is 7 and her name is Jessica.
My DS is Jason and he is 9.
I'm glad to see MJ also has a DD18 traveling with her. I hope they can meet.
My son only loves basketball and will probably be there more often than anywhere else.
My DD7 will love just about everything she does, so she's easy.
Lime green ribbon here I come!

Hi, MJ--
We're flying in Thursday, and have two nights booked at the All Star Movies. Even though they are the least expensive, I love the All Star Resorts--especially the food courts. Why spend a lot on fancy meals when we are headed for the Magic?
I keep editing our cruise list. Hopefully, we'll all find each other.

Cindi.....this is Ellen, Gobbi45's wife. When we sailed last year, there were others from NH. We even ran into a family from our own town, which is Atkinson. We are not staying at the Radisson...we will be flying out of Manchester early Sat morning. That is a good idea though. Maybe we could work something out, since we havent recvd docs yet . Is your son planning on using the club?
Last year, my son didnt use it too much. Maybe he will meet up with your son and feel more comfortable. What town are you from?

Hi Ellen-
I looked into changing our flights to meet up with my brother in Disney for a day, but it was going to cost at least $400 just to change our tickets!!!
We live in Londonderry.
My son is looking forward to using the club. Hopefully, he'll like it as much as he thinks he will! He would love to meet up with other boys his age. I mentioned your son to him yesterday. There is another family with a 12 year old going also (Lucky2). I think it would great if they could hook up....my boys always enjoy things more when they meet a friend!
I'm surprised you haven't received your cruise documents yet.
Do we all want to set up a place and time meet? Karen you seem to be good at coordinating all of this!!!

That would put it at about 5 pm right? Sounds good to me. I'll drop off life vest back at the cabin and head down to the Promenade Lounge. Can't guarantee I can talk the kids into coming with me though.
Hey everyone....sound like a plan? No commitment, if you can make it you do, if you can't you don't!
I have some great lime green paper and I'll make a DIS MEET sign!

Thank!

01-31-2002, 06:48 AM
discastmember......move this over to the CM board and someone will answer.
cinbis......The sailaway party usual begins just before 5:00...when the ship sets sail. Thinking about that now, our Dis meet might be better off moved to a later time, unless we could just meet for a few moments to say hello and then go on up to the sailaway party.
That's a good question about the kids in the lounge. I know I have seen them in there but they were waiting for a shore excursion with their parents. I have also seen them in there before dinner began, again with their parents. I am not sure what to tell you. This lounge is pretty open meaning it is adjacent to the hallway that leads to the dining room. It is not a closed in separate room. I'll try and find out!

I like the way you are organizing the February 23rd list! Here are a few extra details about our family.

We do not have our cruise documents yet.

MJ-
What time is the safety drill? Perhaps we would have a few mintues to meet right after that and before the sailaway party. Or are they too close together? Where is the sailaway party held? Is there a meeting place nearby that would be better than the Promonade Lounge in case kids are not permitted?
Thanks for looking into this....we're relying on your cruising expertise!!!
It's starting to snow.....sounds like it is going to be very messy later on.....3 more weeks!!!!
Rikersmom
01-31-2002, 08:35 PM
I think we'll be fine if we try to get together at the Promenade Lounge after the safety drill. We can always move up to the deck if we get too crowded. I've seen kids at the lounge, and I can't imagine that anyone would ask us to move. It will be great to just see what we all look like so we'll recognize each other later.
Anyone willing to describe themselves? I'm about 5'4", wish I weighed less than I do, have short brown hair, glasses or contacts (depending on the wind). And I'll be wearing a lime green ribbon! --Karen

Karen,
You can't miss us. I have curly dark medium length hair (usually everyone remembers my hair-don't know if that's good or bad.....) and I am about 5'3" (also wish I was about 20 lbs lighter). My husband Drew on the other hand is a foot taller than me. You know the old Mutt and Jeff thing. I will probably be the really frazzled one with three kids pulling me in all directions. Whew! at that point, I may be the one holding a rum and diet coke with a twist of lime. Hey that goes with my ribbon!
Lisa

02-01-2002, 09:08 AM
Well, here goes....5'7 with short brown hair....weight is a dirty word and I don't use dirty words!!!! Of course I wished I weighed less....doesn't everybody!!!
Ok....I checked a Navigator from 12/8 (on Barb's website) and it says that the Mandatory Boat Drill takes place at 4:00 pm.
The Sailaway Party begins at 4:30 pm on Deck 9, midship at the Goofy Pool Stage.
The sailaway party lasts awhile, so I agree with Karen that we should meet at the Promenade Lounge after the boat drill for a quick hello and introduce ourselves! Then everyone can head up to Deck9 and really start to PARTY!!!!

CINBIS....we should be arriving at the Radisson about noonish on the 22nd. We are driving up from Clearwater. Want to hit Ron Jon Surf Shop. Haven been there in years. Kids remember it from when they were young.
I'll be the one with the three teenagers by the pool!!!!! I might be a bit frazzled by then since we are flying to FL on the 17th. Six days alone with three teens should be interesting!!!!
Trying to explain to my 16 year old son why he CANNOT drive the rental car is exhausting already!!!!
I'll be wearing my lime green ribbons. Probaby on by beach bag/pocketbook!!!

We won't be at the Radisson until after 7. Our flight gets in at 6:15.

I just got back from the gym......working on the weight thing!!! No one there is happy with their weight either!!! 5'4"....med. length light brown hair.....my husband is about 6'.....brown hair. I'll tie the ribbon to my black backpack/pocketbook.
I have an 11 year old that sounds like a younger version of your 16 year old! We're confident he'll be a trial lawyer!!! If I seem frazzled, he's the reason!!!!

hey 2/23 cruisers.....how did we let this thread get pushed back to the 2nd page???
Let's keep it alive!!
I am making a list of all the "out of the ordinary" things things I want to bring...here are some of them. I found if I put the item in a special basket when I think of it, I won't be running around like a crazy person near the end.
- 8ft extension cord (came in extremely useful on last cruise)
- over the door shoe holder (ditto)
- laundery detergent tablets (WHISK)
- mesh laundry bag for dirty clothes
- LCD clock with sound soother (20 different sounds)
- collapsible cooler
- large and small zip lock bags (for packing ice in cooler)
- cyrstal light/ice tea mix (to make our own beverages)
- 1 qt. Chuggables container to drink from by the pool
- $50.00 in singles for various porters, room service, etc.
- Roll of quarters for laundry
- stain stick or SHOUT wipes
- clothes pins (great for hanging wet swim suites in bathroom)
- 2 bottles Beringer's White Zinfandel
- LIME GREEN RIBBONS/DIS MEET SIGN!
That's all I can think of at the moment. Feel free to add on!

Hi, MJ and all--
I just took a quick look at the shelf in my closet where I keep things I need for the cruise. I've heard that people really like the over-the-door shoe holders, especially with more than two people in the cabin. I like your suggestions about clothes pins--haven't heard that one before, but we always have trouble with wet swimsuits falling on the floor.
Here are my must haves:
Lanyards. Whenever I keep my key in my pocket, I'm always checking to be sure I haven't lost it.
Insulated mug. I have an old one from Coronado Springs. I really like it when I wake up early and can go up to deck 9 for some hot tea and a chocolate croissant. I take it back to the cabin to enjoy and wait for Ed to wake up. Yes, I know that I could get a styrofoam cup with lid--but it's not the same. This brings up my most favorite food on the cruise. Chocolate croissants. There are many wonderful things to eat on the Magic, but WOW I love those croissants. Can't wait.
Suntan lotion. I have a favorite brand that is not available in Pennsylvania. I'm almost out, so we need to stop at a drugstore in Orlando.
Hats. That Caribbean sun can be brutal.
I also have a soft sided kids' lunchbox that I always pack with various medicines, bandaids, etc. that we might need (and always hope that we won't need).
I'm always open to more suggestions. Three weeks from today!!!
mmouse37
02-02-2002, 11:15 AM
Yeah...only 3 more weeks....
Karen....we may be having a change of plans. My son's friends are going to be at WDW from the 13th - 22nd and invited my son to stay with them one night. I might change my plans and instead of visiting my Aunt....pick her up and bring her to Disney with us and bring her back to Clearwater.
I am calling now to see what rates are available. We may be staying at All Stars also on the 20th or 21st. I took my Aunt (who is 82) to the Yacht Club in October for three nights. She absolutely didn't want to go to WDW, but later told me it was the best vacation she had ever had!!! She had no idea what it was really like!!! I'll have to see if she can take the difference from staying at YC Concierge to the All Stars!!!

If I seem to be here more than normal, it's because Ed is out of town and Riker (my miniature schnauzer) isn't talking much today.
MJ, we've stayed at almost every WDW resort, but we haven't been at the Yacht Club yet. Sounds like you consider it a cut above the All Stars, huh?
I'm usually deciding what to pack for a trip the night before, but this time I'm actually putting some thought into it. It will be interesting to see if I take the same stuff I would have packed anyway.
Keep posting--Karen

Since we will actually be away for two weeks, I tried explaining to them that they still only need to pack for one week. We are going to have access to washers and dryers.
We are getting so excited, we can't stand it. That is all we talk about at home now.....but I have to do when Mike is working....since he can't come with us...

As I looked over our list, I notice that we have quite a few couples traveling without kids! Interesting since everyone always seems to worry that there will be too many kids on board. Does anyone ever worry that there will be too many grown-ups?
Just a thought. We'll all have to play nice and share the loungers at the adult pool!

Karen,
Sorry it has taken a couple of days to reply back. I have been busy getting my curise lists done.
It would be great if you add my families names. Lesle as you know, Steve is dad, and last but not least Brittany 7.
By the way in having read this forum it looks like most of the DIS are from the East.
Do you anyone coming from the West or California?
Thanks Lesle

Lesle--
I left my heart in California--my two sons live in Glendale, CA. They love it there, and their only wish is that they could afford to live closer to the beach. (Notice I said beach--I grew up in Nebraska, far from any ocean. It took me years to learn that folks from the East coast talk of trips to the shore!)
Are you & Steve native Californians?
Karen

Karen,
Yes I would say you have left your heart in California.
Like most of us here it would be great to be closer to the beach.
Have you sons check out Redondo or to the south Seal beach.
Both Steve and I are Native's, our daughter being a 4th generation on my side.
We have often thought of moving out of state but you can't beat the weather here.
Our family is getting so excited!!!!!!!
To answer one of the other reply's about packing, I think I have been getting ready since Jan. I have had a garment rack set up and the suitcases in our spare room adding and deleteing daily.
Call me crazy!!!
Until later take care from Sunny California.. P.S. it is about 70 today.

Hi Karen:
This is our first cruise. My name is Lori, my mom (Freda) and my 4 kids Isaac (13) Jacob (12) and twin girls Grace (6) and Corrina (6) are all getting anxious. We are traveling from Iowa.
Three weeks from today we will be on board!

I spent the first 25 years of my life in Omaha, Nebraska. Where are you from in Iowa?

Hi Cindy, I was just reading a thread you started about tropical night and didnt realize it went back to January. Anyway, incase you dont check it out, I was just telling you we were at the Manchester Mall today and saw tropical shirts at JC Penny, Filene's, Sears and TJ MAXX. I'm wearing a sundress that night, that is sort of a tropical print. Did you decide to wait until St Marten? I can't believe it is already the 9th of Feb.

Ellen-
Thanks for keeping your eyes open for me! I was at the Salem Mall yesterday. I forgot about looking for tropical clothing.....I think I decided we would shop on St. Martin and quickly put it out of my mind!!! I do have to go back to the Mall of NH (I can never seem to do anything once!!!) so I'll have to take a look.
I did buy my green ribbon (it's more of a kelly green)! I also got the room freshener at Bath and Body Works that was suggested on a thread. It's a nice subtle scent, but seems to last a long time. I like it because the container is very small. They also have plug ins, but I've found those overpowering (the ones from the grocery store) in the past.
Are you still flying out on the 23rd?

Just wanted to post to move us up on the board. I did notice in one of the threads that shorts were okay on tropical night in the dining rooms. I did wear shorts last time (in my tropical mood), and I was worried that I was breaking some rule. I'll feel better if I do it again (unless I find a sundress that I can't resist on St. M.)
Hope everyone is getting ready--Karen

Hey Karen and all the rest of the 2/23 "crew"....
Was in the attic today pulling down the "summer" clothes. Not its off to washing and ironing.... I can't believe we leave for our trip this Sunday.....then board the Magic on the 23rd!!!!
Oh, Karen, I changed my plans and we are staying at the Dolphin on the nights of the 20th and 21st. My elderly Aunt (82) jumped at the chance of going to WDW again!!!! I have Sheraton points so I figured I'd stay there without laying out any money!!!

Will you still be at the Raddison on 2/22?
I got our summer clothes out today too. I think we're in good shape. I need to do the same.....washing and ironing!
Does anyone know if the Magic and Wonder pass each other at sea or dock at the same time on an island? Our neighbor is going on the Wonder 2/26 or 2/27. I'm wondering if we'll cross paths.

Hello!
I've never been on a cruise but will be on the 2/23 sailing. Needless to say we are more than a bit excited! Here are our specs:
Me (Linda) I had great plans to get in shape for the cruise and did pretty well until a few weeks ago. Plan to bring all elastic waistbands.
Mom (Judy) Still dedicated to her LA Fitness appointments. Way to go Mom!!
Daughter (Laura) 6 years old and filled with energy. We're fortunate enough to be able to spend a lot of time at Disneyland and her favorite character is Pluto. She's very excited to meet the other kids on the list!
Sister (Lisa) [Yes, my family loves the "L" names...] Lives in Oregon where she is through with the cold and rain and snow! When does the ship sail??
Brother-In-Law (Jarrod) My wine tasting buddy! Any 49er fans out there?
Niece (Lilajane) [Again with the "L" thing...] A curious and all around delightful almost 2 year-old who can't understand why Mommy doesn't want to play in the rain every day.
We're flying in on a red-eye flight so plan to be on the first Disney bus out of the airport. None of us have ever taken a Disney cruise although my Mom took a Princess cruise a few years ago.
Reading through everyone's trip reports and advice has been great.
See you soon!

Cindy~ OOHHHHH how I know you feel about returning to the malls. Today, we were at The Rockingham Mall and then BJs for other stuff. Now we are "down to business". We also picked up the small spray from, Bath and Body. I'm debating on holding off on ironing clothes. They always seem to wrinkle and then still have to be pressed before we dress, so I may as well wait.
Yes, we are leaving on the 23rd. Since we are flying out of Manchester, we have a stop in PA. Yeck. We def won't be the first in line. Last year, we were at the Port by 11:00.

I can answer your question. Both Ellen (Gobbi45) and I bought the room freshener from Bath and Body Works. It comes in a small spray bottle. There are a variety of scents available.
The Downey Wrinkle Releaser was something different. I bought it at Walmart. I read a post that it works well. I haven't tried it yet.

It's been way too long since I've been horseback riding, but it sure sounds like fun. Just think, you'll be able to relax in the whirlpool when you get back to the ship in case you find some sore spots that need comforting.
Wish I could concentrate on something else besides this upcoming trip. No luck.

oh dear.
saturday is the day. i am just gettin around to unpacking my summer clothes, which for me seems to always be unpacking from the mall... i like to shop what can i say. i went sunday and got a ton of clothes like so quick... it was awesome. i went shopping again today for all the essentials -- shoes, toothpaste, etc. -- and im ready to get away from school and stuff for a week.
few questions about our "group:"
lime green ribbon? where should i put it?
promenade lounge after the safety drill sounds good, i doubt my mom or sisters will come, but hey... i might show up and hand out my business cards to all of you wonderful people :) (ok stop - so i am 18 and have business cards, what can i say, im good at what I do... and i get paid lotso casho for it)
i counted so far... 6 teens. 3 in my group, two wtih MJ... woah buddy, i still talk to 43 people teens from my last cruise... and that is only the people i liked.
if anyone has a room around Midship 8 - just wanted to let you know that teens will gather there every night :) i like to have parties. we behave, but hey. just wanted to give ya a heads up. its right oustide my room....so tahts one room that i dont have to worry about.
ok i cant wait to get on the boat. i have my top 3 things to do already after i go to my room:
1) go to CG to check out the teen groupies
2) go to the Oceaneers Lab to visit my two old counselors from my last cruise... they moved on me. boo hoo. i had a friends father pass away while i was in da ocean last year and those two ladies from CG talked to me about it. I MISSED THE TEEN DANCE CRUISE LAST YEAR. SOO SAD FOR ME. If you have youngins who have Tracy or Vivi in the Lab... they are awesome! I owe them all my happiness on the last cruise. i coulda moped for days, but i was as chipper as can be expected wtihin a few hours.
3) go get my internet access account on board. i cant live without the internet. I need to be able to email my friends and talk to them back home.
ok thats enuf for tinite. c ya all soon! :)

Well, it was bound to happen. We fly out Friday morning and both of my kids have been sick with Stomach Flu symptoms since Saturday. Daughter (14) is running a fever and son (4) threw up all over my bedroom last night. The good news is they are home today and are both feeling a little better. My Little Man finally ate (cereal) but I am taking them both to the Dr. today to make sure everything is a-ok. It never fails, I should just expect this stuff to happen before a trip or a holiday weekend. Now if we can just get through the next two weeks healthy and with daughters orthodontic retainer still in her posession we'll be ahead of the game. Am taking all meds I can think of just in case. I'll be sporting my lime greens at the terminal. Look for a thirty something with long blonde (waist length) hair. Also, send some pixie dust for my sick babies. Can't wait to meet you all!

Really not a total dunce, but am new to this "posting" thing!! Just read some of the previous posts. What is the thing with the lime green ribbons??? We are staying at the Radisson the night before. Like some of you, I too have one sick child. Hopefully he will be better before Friday. (and has not "infected" the rest of us! lol. ( Am soooo proud, just figured out what that means!) My teen daughter, Sarah is excited about the upcoming trip and the boys are even more excited. We are a little disappointed about the late seating but have heard differing views on it. The kids are night owls, but I am not. I prefer to get up at 5 am and watch the sunrise! Hope I have packed all the right clothes etc. I am a pro at packing for disneyworld as we go at least twice a year, and my old adage has always been in we need it we can buy it. somehow I don't think that will work in the middle of the ocean!! Still haven'ty booked any excursions. The only one I think we are interested in is Coral World Any advice. HOpe this isn't too long. Thanks for any replies. Welcome Elaine & family--
I first found out about the lime green ribbons on our cruise last September. Seems that the people who enjoy the DIS-boards wanted a way to spot each other at WDW or on the ship. Someone came up with the idea of wearing ribbons. Lime green was the color choice because no other group (that anyone knew of) used lime green as a symbol.
See you at our first contact at the Promenade Lounge after the safety drill.

Welcome Bill & Elaine!
We also have late seating and we have two small kids - 6 and 2 - so you won't be the only ones!

Everyone is either out buying last minute stuff, deciding what to pack or not pack, or maybe watching the olympics.
Speaking of the olympics, does anyone know if we will be able to catch the closing ceremonies on Sunday?;)
