Hi all,

Just a quick question, which is really one of those how long is a piece of string questions.....

On average how long does it take you from the plane landing till you are in your hotel room. And before anyone says, I know there are many variables..... but our trip is:

Virgin atlantic Gatwick to Orlando 2nd November 12.45 take off 18.10 landing (yes i've read all of the delay threads:scared1: .... and have been trying for past three months to change flight but travel agent seems to be a bit useless).

ME to POFQ

If anyone has been on this flight anyone know what time they got to their resort, and if there was time to hop to a park for fireworks?

Thanks :woohoo:

Hi Tink366

when me and DW flew Virgin on our honeymoon in 1999, we waited about 1.5 hrs just for the transfer from the hotel - comfort inn, lake buena vista.

We were delayed in Gatwick for about 2 hrs, so this may have had a bearing on how long we had to wait.

When we flew Airtours in 2001 to POR, the transfer was waiting for us straight away, and it took abut 35 -45 mins ,but then we flew to a different airport ( i can never remember if Virgin fly to Sandford or Orland )

We were not delayed on our Airtours flight, which if memory serves me correct took off about lunchtime, but by the time we got to POR ( early evening, probably about 7 -7.30ish) we were both to tired to attempt a park, but this may have been due to a long day the day before ( our wedding!)

I normally assume that the 1st day ( the one you fly on) is a write off, that way if you are delayed, you are not disapointed.

Enjoy your trip anyway

We made this trip by car on the earlier flight in Decmber and got to POFQ within an hour and a bit of landing! But this October we are on the later flight as the earlier flight was more expensive :(

We have done that exact trip (though our plane was delayed by seven hours :scared1: it was the 12.30 from LGW to MCO)

We got off the plane at about five past midnight and were checking into our room at POFQ at twenty to two o'clock ish.

This included collecting our bags and keeping them with us rather than letting Magical Express deal with them as we wanted our stuff straight away due to the time the flight arrived :)

When we got on the ME coach, it stopped at POR and then POFQ was the next stop, but this may vary.

The car is alot quicker than waiting for transfers as you maybe the last drop off!

Unfortanatley as you say it's a difficult one to answer, I would allow at least 2 hours from landing to arriving at your accomodation.

Collecting your bags can have a big impact, you could well be waiting 30 minutes or so for them - just depends on luck how quick you get them through the carousel process, remember also you have to collect your bags twice at MCO.
One of the perks of flying Premium Economy, your bags are first to be off-loaded the plane.

If I remember correctly last time we went it took 2 hours from landing to us arriving at the Beach Club Villas. We hired a car (that bit was really quick as the husbands went to sort out the car whilst my friend and I got the cases.) We were delayed a little in arrivals as they could not get the hold door open at first so our bags were delayed coming off the plane.

I would say 2 hours too from touchdown. It sounds horrendous doesn't it, but it does go quickly.

Hmm usually for us it has been about 2 hours, allow for that then you won't be dissapointed. Occasionally things happen that are out of your control but that seems to be the normal time.

I would say between 2-3 hours, it depends how long it takes you to get thru security. We always use Virgin transfers and generally they drop off at one or two other Disney hotels before yours but it doesn't take long.

We have had such huge variances, it's not funny. I will say the best thing we ever did was to stop booking ADRs on our first night. Now we get checked into our room and then drive over to Wolfgang Puck Express at the Marketplace. It takes the worrying about making it on time out of the equation and we are much more relaxed about it all.

Our record of getting off plane to leaving airport is 20 mins. That was with PE, front of the queue for immigration and bags off first. Last trip it took 2 hrs to leave the airport, that was economy seats and back of the plane.
