Anyone Going In December? [Archive] - The DIS Discussion Forums

Decorations are fantastic, Holiday Fireworks are the Best, Crowds are not that bad and Weather is tuf to call. Bring LAYERS, lots of LAYERS. Pack a knit hat or buy a disney Christmas one and pack a small pair of gloves - the evenings can get COLD. We've been there the past four years and its been anywhere from 80 degrees to 30 degrees (last year it snowed in northern florida in November)

Mom and Traveling Buddy will be there Dec 9 to the 15th at the Boardwalk

Son's Best friend and his family will be there Dec 9 to the 14th at the Beach Club

Us, family of 5, ranging in age from 47 to 16 will be at the Boardwalk with 15 of our closest friends Dec 30 to Jan 4:dance3:

We were orig going to go in Oct. but I think we are moving it to the first week of Dec too. Not sure of the exact dates. I really want to see all the Christmas decorations!!!!:santa:

I have no idea what to expect as far as weather and crowds. Anyone else? The only other time I was there was in March and of course it was over spring break so there were crowds.

Dh and I are going Dec 8th to the 15th. This is my fifth time and DH's second. We went last year and he loved it and wants to go back. We are staying at Wildness Lodge.

We are going to be arriving on Dec. 18 and leaving Dec. 24. We will be at the Wilderness Lodge.
I can't wait to see the decorations and attend MVMCP!

This is our first trip out there. I am so excited!!! The more I read and plan it the more excited I get!! :goodvibes

We are a family of 5. Me- 40, DH - 48, DD - 16, DS - 15, (he will be 15 3 days before we leave), and DS - 9.

We are flying out of Oakland, California on 12/18 at 11:50 PM on Jet Blue arriving in Fort Lauderdale on 12/19 at 8:00 AM.

We are staying in Fort Lauderdale until 12/22. During that time we want to see the Everglades and anything else we can do. Also, use this time to get over jet lag and get use to the 3 hour time difference.

On 12/22 :car: drive to Kissimmee and check into Orange Lake timeshare.

12/23 Epcot

12/24 Downtime and enjoy resort

12/25 ****CHRISTMAS**** Animal Kingdom

12/26 Downtime maybe go on a tour of the space station

12/27 MGM

12/28 Downtime or go back to Epcot maybe Magic Kingdom. (We have been to Disneyland several times so we want to make the most of the other parks)

12/29 Check out and :car: drive back to Fort Lauderdale

12/30 Fly out 6:30 pm arrive back in Oakland at 9:54pm walking through the door of our home around midnight. :coffee:

We will be arriving 11/29 and leaving 12/3 (too short but it's hard to get time off!)... So long weekend.. but does that count as December or November?:lmao:

We'll be there those exact same dates, at the WDW Dolphin - where are you staying?

This is our 2nd year in a row to go in early December. Last year the crowds were light (moderate on some days) and the weather varied greatly. The only ride we couldn't get on was Soarin - 2 hour waits which we weren't willing to do, and Fast Passes were gone by 10am. Some rides we walked on over & over with no line at all - Dinosaur, Indy Speedway, Buzz Lightyear, POTC. The only rides with waits over 20 min. that I remember (besides Soarin) were Test Track, Splash Mountain & BTMRR & EE. One day we had on short sleeves & shorts, the next day were were freezing in sweaters, jeans & our heavy coats from home (PA).

This is also our second year in a row going the same time as last year the second week in December. When we were there last year the weater was great. I wore capris and shortsleeves. A light weight jacket or sweater inthe morning and the rest of the day was no jacket or sweater it only rained on night and it was until 7 pm. It was however to cold for me to go in the water.
This year we are staying at Wildness lodge so I am looking forward to the hot tubs.

We are going 12/20 to 12/24 for our first trip home to SSR. The 20th is also DS 6th bday and we will be at the HDDR that night. Can't wait to take them to MVMCP on the 21st!

yes! Dec 11 - 17, and it's our second year in a row for this time frame.... it's simply perfect for us! Crowds are low, decorations are fresh, and we still get home in time to make home "Christmas Mess"!

Very light lines.... test track was a long one... but I rode RnR and ToT back to back to back to back to back....seriously! Like 6 times in a row each.... I adore them. Of course, I came down with a virus the last three days we were there, missed La Nouba (paid for, sniff sniff) and our behind the scenes tour of the holiday storage and different resorts... may reschedule that one.

Perfect weather, coolish, sometimes cold, occasional light rain, but overall, fabulous. Only better time to go is February!

We're camping at Ft Wilderness.... anyone else?? PM me and we'll get together!

My DW & DMIL will be there during the 1st week of December and will be joined by their extended family later in the week.

Although Pop Warner will add a few rowdy high school football players and their cheer leaders to the mix, is should still be a fabulous week with crowd levels at their lowest (supposedly).

My DH, DD, & DS and I are going to be at the Beach Club from 12/19-12/23 and then we are going to our timeshare throught the 30th with my Mom & Dad and Sister and 2 Nieces and 1 Nephew..all adults, who outside of my family who go almost every year, have never really enjoyed the Magic of Disneyworld....so I will have 5 days with just my Darlings and then get to show the rest of my family all of the Joy of a Disney Christmas..since Mom and Dad are in their 80's it is about time they found out what life is really about.:rotfl: ....DISNEY!:cool1: :banana: :wizard: :woohoo: :santa: I cannot wait!!!!!

My sister in law called today to see if we wanted to go again in December. Of course we said YES!!! :cool1: We just did several days in the parks and the cruise in April 07. Unfortunately that trip had a very unhappy ending. We came home on a high only to walk into the worst school massacre in US history. I am an EMT in Blacksburg, VA. It is difficult for me to look back fondly on that trip without remembering that day. I hope to make new memories on this trip. We will be going the week before Christmas, December 16-21. I couldn't wait and we told the kids tonight. Now I will have to endure questions for the next 4 months. :confused3 Oh well. I can live with that.

We just booked our annual December trip! We will be at GF Dec 15-21! This is our favorite place to stay and our favorite time of year. It's all so magical! The decorations in the parks, the huge tree in the GF lobby, the holiday music playing, MVMCP, the characters in their holiday costumes, the Osborne lights, we can't wait!

We will be there too!:santa: Staying at POR from Dec. 9-15. Our first Dec. trip. We usually go in Jan. or Feb. I image it is not any colder in Dec. than Jan. and we get to see the decorations. I can't wait. We have tickets for MVMCP and 6 ADR's including the Candlelight Processional package at LeCellier.

we are going 11/30-12/5. I got to add a couple of days to my trip and upgraded to CSR because of the discount code that came out!! First time staying at CSR and from what I have learned it is quite beautiful. Christmas time is so special at disney. Be sure to see the osbourne light show at MGM- it will take your breath away.

Honestly, we haven't decided where to stay this time. We are going with my brother, SIL and their 2 DD (2 and 4). I think the consenses were to stay at a moderate resort this time.:confused3 My SIL does all the booking ;) I like that. I just pay her what she tells me! I think that is something we will be doing this week. However, I don't think we will be doing Pop Century again this time. :sad1:

Oh that's a bummer:sad2: But how fun getting to try another resort! We hope to do that for our next time too. Well....maybe we'll see you around somewhere....will you be sporting any lime green mickey's??

Can't wait to see Cindy's Castle all decked out in lights and of course the Candlelight Processional in Epcot! Yeah! Yeah! cooler weather too (we hope):santa:

This is a budget trip for us. :lmao: We're staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins. I laughed when I told DH "I bought a tent from Walmart, we're going camping at Disney! :rotfl2: What big eyes he had. Then I assured him I was joking and we're staying in the cabins. I'm looking forward to it. there will be 5 of us me, DH, 2 DD and 1 DS. This is an early trip for us and a short one. just 5 days, last christmas we were there for 11. But we've been tightening the belt lately.

Sis is keeping an eye on other things in case something opens up (Daddy's not thrilled with me having to sleep on a sofa bed...in spite of the fact that in my little studio w/alcove in Brooklyn I'm on a FUTON!!). Of course this is assuming she doesn't have something else reserved and is just TELLING us SSR until we get there... She's tricky that way. I guess we'll know if we decide we're doing ME instead of "Sister Shuttle" since we'd need that info then. :P

I got lots of birthday wishes from CM's and guests. I had my actual birthday celebration in Cinderella's Castle for lunch. They decorated the table with confetti, brought me a cupcake and a magical moments certificate that was signed by all of the princesses, and our server sang "Happy Birthday" to me. It was very magical! This time, I'm celebrating at the Crystal Palace (Eeyore's my favorite character).

I told them to make a note of my birthday when I made my ADR and the CM told me to be sure and tell them at the check-in podium. I just told them it was my birthday and they did the rest. Extra magic at no extra charge!:wizard:

To Christmas shop....Resort Hop...but no park hop!! lol Going solo...for first time! Want to see WL and GF decorated for the holidays..shop at DTD...dine at Narcoosees....and have Spa time at Saratoga:)

52 days!! :banana: My sweet grandson's first trip, and celebrating his 2nd birthday during our trip to MVMCP. Dinner at LTT. So if anyone is at Disney December 6-11, and you see an outrageously proud G'ma acting like a fool for her grandbaby, that's me! Say hi!

Sigh...it seems like we will NEVER get there...I feel like a little kid waiting for summer vacation to start...

I have been passing some of the time by putting together keepsake itineraries. Sorta like mini-scrapbooks. It's a work in progress; not sure how they will turn out.

Congrats to all!
I will be going Dec. 7-16 MVMCP on the 11th. We will be staying in a villa this time with a pool and hot tub! I and the wife get more sore every trip so having a hot tub to rest the tired feet will be great.
We have never been to WDW in Dec. but have been for MNSSHP and also for F&W.

We are going Dec. with a very complicated stay. We start our at POR then over to OKW checking out and then back to POR for the last evening.

On the 22nd our passes have a black out so we plan to visit the resorts and see the holiday decorations.

We leave November 30th and I'm so excited! I just have to get through the show I'm in now and make it through the one next month, and then I'll be calm(er) and ready to go. We finally get to go with my husband's college roommates and their fabulous wives. We've all been to DL together several times, but DH and I are the only ones of the group who have been to WDW in the last twenty years. I can't wait to be the expert!

We are Staying at POP, sat - sat. There is a shuttle scheduled for launch on the thursday the 6th 4:30pm. Am I the only one that worries there won't be enought time?

WOO! :banana: We just booked our Christmas with the Mouse from December 18-23! :santa: We're staying at the POFQ; our first time staying on-site with Disney. We originally wanted to split the stay between the FQ and the CSR, but it would have been a lot more, so we decided to go with the FQ because of the size of the resort and the boat to DD (we LOVE the Earl of Sandwich!). Can't wait! :woohoo:

We will be at the POFQ from the 18th-23rd also! I'll look for your lime green! Mine will be in my window decorations. Maybe we will run into each other. Are you going to MVMCP? We will be going on the 20th. Have a great trip.:santa:

Yay! For a while there I thought we were going to be the only DISers at the POFQ during those dates...BUT our stay has been extended until the 27th :woohoo:

We'll be taking some decorations as well, mostly holiday themed window clings, and some garland around the window...but I've got my 'alien green' Mickey's all lined up and ready to go too! No doubt we'll run into each other at some point. :)

We're going to the MVMCP on the 18th. :cool1:

We will be at CSR from Dec 19 to Jan 2, then we switch to Pop Century for 5 days. I haven't been to WDW since before Epcot opened. My daughter is 9 is so excited, she can hardly get to sleep at night. We are taking some decorations for our room also.

We will be arriving Saturday, December 1st until the 8th. Staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, our first deluxe stay ever! We're very excited! Hope to bump into some of you that will be there the same time as us. I will be wearing my Lime Green Mickey Heads with tkdisneylover on them. Stop and say Hi if you see me!

Hey, we'll be there the same time! Dec. 1-8, actually flying all night the 30th, landing at MCO at 6:05am. We'll be staying at OKW. It's everyone's first trip....me, my hubby, two teenage boys (15, 16) and our 10yo daughter, plus my parents. We are SOOO looking forward to this vacation. We all dodged the fires out here in San Diego, in 2003 and 2007, and there's been a lot of stress. We've been planning this trip for a year and a half and thought we might not get to go if one of us lost our house! Hey, how do you get one those green mickey's that identifies you as a Diser? I don't have one :sad1: Of course if I see someone with one I'll jump and holler and introduce myself :rotfl: I hope to see you there!!

8 days and counting. Now, at least I can drag out the suitcases and not feel like I'm jumpin' the gun and acting like a little kid that can't wait 'till Christmas.

Cool, maybe we will see you there! Our plane arrives at 1:20 on the 1st and then we're heading right to Disney-MGM Studios to meet up with friends who will already be there.

And glad to hear that all of your families homes remained safe during such a scary time. We watched it on the news everynight and could not believe such devastation! Thank goodness you were able to keep your scheduled vacations!:banana:

The Lime Green Mickey Head's (LGMH's for short on the Dis boards) are from Home Depot in the paint section. I got the idea from the Dis boards to cut them out, glue 2 together back to back, and then put my Dis board name on them(tkdisneylover), and then laminate it. I have a picture of them in my pre-trip report, check out the link below.
