Hard time finding availability May 17-20 - Is there some event that weekend?

I been looking around for an off-site hotel for three nights around May 17-20th. My price range is under $90 a night. But, to my surprise, I been having a hard time finding much available! All my usual off-site hotels are listed on their websites as completely booked (Hampton Inn LBV, Hawthorn, Sheraton Safari, etc) or has prices WELL over what I have ever paid in the past in May! Gee, has the tourist industry rebounded that much??? Or have discounts just not been listed yet? I always go to WDW the week before Memorial Day, so this is surprising me to see this. It's usually a good time to go. Or is there some giant convention or event that weekend that I am unaware of?

I'll wait and see, I guess .......

Anyone else noticing May is looking very booked???? :confused:

Just checked Hotelkingdom,.com, and although some are sold out during that time, there looks to be lots of options in your price range at that time. Only $11 fee if for some reason you need to cancel.

More puzzling ........

I decided to check some of these off-site hotels again for Memorial Day weekend, and guess what? The hotels I checked all had plenty of rooms, even at good prices! Why would the weekend before Memorial Day (May 17-20) be so sold out but Memorial Day isn't??? Now I am more convinced than ever there is some sort of giant convention/event going on!

Oh well! I'll wait and see ...
