Does WDW even have the rack rates out yet for April? I'm trying to plan DD's 1st birthday trip in April and the website keeps putting me back to 07. I was hoping to be able to plan well in advance and pay on it for several months since there are a few of us going.

Summer--I seem to bump into you everywhere!! I don't think they are out yet, just hoping for some good codes for April. I know it'll be awhile before codes for that time are released (if at all), but the more of us with our ears open looking for deals---the better!
Celebrating 10 years with DH---we were at WDW for our honeymoon, this time 10 years later we'll be bringing along 2 wild DS's!!!

I hope the rack rates are out soon, as I'm itching to book this trip. We're going at the end of April and I can't wait to make it official. In '06 we went in April and got free park hoppers and water parks but that deal didn't come out until March. I'll take any discount I can get.

Wanna subscribe to this thread! We are going to Disney the third week in April. Got a room only deposit on the PopCentury already, just waiting to see the new rates. We originally wanted to go in December of 2007, but the cost of going then was not working for us.

We have a Room Only deposit down for POR...April 26th
1st ever WDW family Vacation.
I just called 1-800-828-0228. It reserved at 2007 rates.
She told me I could upgrade to "package" later once the rates for 2008 come out. Then if a code comes out for our week we can apply that.
We'll be there and will book in late September when my 7 month window opens for DVC. Looking at BWV or BCV. 2 weeks, April 26 to May 9.

They accepted the $145.12 deposit for Pop Century at the current 2007 rate. I know it will change, but it's a start in my planning and I can add to it after the rates change if I want to. A deposit on a room makes the vacation feel like it's really going to happen and gives me the fun of staring to plan also. I also reserved a car with Dollar. It a high rate , but I keep checking it and asit goes down I just rebook again.

We are booked room only at CSR for April 5-12. Glad to see some Budget Board friends are watching for codes - we're sure to get a deal then! :cool1: I'd love to upgrade to AKL if the construction is almost done and if I can get a deal. We usually go Value Season, so Regular Season is giving DH sticker shock!

Hi, new here to posting but I have been reading trip reports for months!
Jumping in on the April 2008 thread.
We are taking my daughter princess: for her 1st trip April 20 - April 25.
Not sure where to stay yet. I stayed at the Poly a few years back when my sisters and I did the Land/Sea vacation and would love to stay there again.

We're going for our first Disney trip on April 26-May 5. :woohoo: Already have one of the ASMu Family suites booked so I'm hoping they'll release a code that's good for them too. I read that they've included the suites the last 2 times so I'm hoping they'll do it next year too.

I'm going to sign up for this thread - I have a work convention near WDW next April and I want to add a few days at WDW. Are the codes just for AP members or Florida residents? Or do they apply to everyone? We are going in November and I was thinking of adding the non-expiration and a few days to our Park Hopper passes which will be cheaper than starting with new passes in April. Is that a good idea? If I do that then I would NOT be booking a package, just doing room only, right??
Thanks!

I'll jump on board too! We have several possibilities to consider but need a room for April 27 - May 3 or 4.
We'll have a car the first day or two as we're ocming from the beach, but would like to use ME to get back to the airport.
If we go for 6 nights we'll just stay put somewhere.
If we go for 7 nights, then I'm stronly considering either S/D or renting points at OKW the first 5 nights, and moving to WL for the last 2.

I am a teacher in Massachusetts so we have to go during a school vacation and I am not allowed to take days off before or after a vacation so I am trying not to let the $$$ overwhelm me. Would love to hear from you.

Disney releases discount codes to the general public several times a year. It's usually based around the slower occupancy periods. My TA tells me that WDW will honor those discounts even if you are already booked. Keep your eye on the discount page and keep your fingers crossed!

My reservation has been updated with 2008 rates. For CSR, April 5 is $175 (standard room), April 6-10 are $165, and April 11 is $175. Last year's regular season rate was $165, so I'm not complaining. Now to watch for codes and the release of AAA rates. :thumbsup2

Do you have a king bed or a waterview room? They are both $185/195. The standard view with two doubles is $165/175.
Tried to get the AAA rate, but it was not available (but it was for king rooms when I called). I wonder if some rooms are blocked for a convention or other event?

We were thinking of taking a short trip in Jan or Feb 08, but my DH said he might be in FL on business in April. I automatically thought spring break crowds - no way! But I also saw on Disney's site that the first two weeks of April are listed as wonderful weeks of Disney. Could this be because Easter is in March in 2008 and maybe spring break crowds will be gone?
My only experience at Disney was in the beginning of September. It was super hot, but the crowds were really low. I like the idea of being able to see the Flower & Garden Festival and the cooler weather, but how will the crowds be? And how much more will regular season cost me than value?
Thanks for the help! :thumbsup2

What is that??
We are hoping to go in early April too...........PRAYing most of the Spring Breakers will be gone by then. We're actually taking DS6 out of school for a week so we'll hopefully miss most of the huge crowds. I understand April at Disney is crowded, but I'm also thinking (hoping) with Easter in March, April will be a bit less crowded...........

On Disney's site, somewhere around the calendar or something... I don't remember exactly where... you can click on the Wonderful Weeks of Disney. It shows the different seasons and then the months. The days of the month that are highlighted are the Wonderful Weeks, which are supposed to have lighter crowds.

Sprin Break depending on where you live will probably be over by the begining of April! Easter is the end of march but this past year when it was april 8th the end of spring break was the following week! We went over Spring Break / Easter! Let me tell you never again! It was ridiculous! You couldnt move no matter where you were! We spent alot of time at the pool and resort! and went to parks at night when it was a lil slower! Spring Break will probably start the End of February begining of March since Easter is the end of March! This past Easter Spring Breaks depending on where you lived started as early as the begining of March and Easter was April 8th! So I would say you would be safe from crowds by the first if not definitely the second week of April! I hear June is horrible too! for crowds! We've been there over spring break before and it was fine but never spring break that coincided with easter! Horrific! I've also bee there August/ September and the weather was sooo HOT! wont do that again! But there were not crowds! So thats why we are trying the end of April/ May 2008 because I hear it is great! And I love April in FLA anyway! So hopefully they will have some good deals for us!

Hi there, we are thinking of planning a trip in april 08, when kids are on spring break. This is the first I have heard of discount codes. Should I book now? Are the hotels going to be all booked or are the rates going to go up if I wait. Last time we went to WDW we stayed off the property. I would love to stay at WDW this time if we could afford it. Thanks for the info.

WDW room rates are set for 2008 - they will not change. What might happen is that the standard rooms (least expensive) might book up, or your resort of choice might book up. If codes are released for April, it likely will not be until February or March of next year, and it might be package only or room-only.
If you are going at a popular time, you are much more likely to find lower availability, but sometimes that is not the case. For example, we are booked for April 5-12, 2008 at CSR. It is listed on the Disney website as a Wonderful Week, which typically means lower park attendance (not near Easter or Passover next year). The strange thing is that CSR is completely booked that week except for the suites, and it has been since the week rates were released. I don't know if a convention is holding a large block of rooms, but it is unusual to have the resort full this early. Other resorts have availability that week, so it seems to be a CSR thing.
You can book room-only now and hold your room. You pay a one-night deposit and can cancel up to six days in advance. If you book a package now, you pay a $200 deposit and pay the rest by 45 days in advance. A code can be applied to an existing reservation as long as there is availability at that resort for that room type (e.g. there are a certain number of discounts for Woods view at WL - when that number is reached, you can't book the discount, even if you have a room of that type booked.)
Sorry for the over-long answer - hope this helps some!

Stitchandpoohsmom,
Thanks for all the info. My girls dance for a competition team here on long island and i just heard last night through the grapevine that we may be going to WDW for a competion in the summer, I love disney, but Florida in July, Yuck! I am hoping it is not true because I really want to go in April. I am hoping to find out soon so that I can make my reservations so I can make sure we get a room. Thanks again!!:thumbsup2

We were in WDW in April of 2007 and would love to go again. I am waiting on JetBlue's airfares to come out for April before I book anything. Of course all of this depends on if and when I get a part time job to pay for it. If we go it will be April 20-26 or 27th staying at POR.

HI! So could you share what youre quote was with the tickets and for how many days? If you want you can PM me! I don't really know much about the resort! I also picked it do to being reasonable if you goto the resort thread there is a POR thread gives lots of good info! I do know to Request the AB 14 or 16 or 27 or magnolia section if you are doing mansions we are getting a trundle so we are going to request AB 14 or 16 , 1st floor. These sections are close to the food courts and main pool and no far from the quite pool and bus stops. I understand if you are further back it could be a real hike to the food and pool and buses since the resort is large there is also a map on the por thread in one of the posts and you can see where everything is located! Were use to Dvc and looking at the map it seems to be set up alot like OKW and SSR! Looks very nice I know some people who have stayed there they say its gorgeous the atmosphere is like a deluxe resort they say! Check out resorts and POR thread! :thumbsup2

Halloween is one of the best times to go to WDW. On the Theme Park BB check out the Halloween Party threads. It is the best party WDW throws all year. SOOO much fun. And if you time it right Food & Wine is also happening. I would say go for Halloween. Save and give him the trip on your Anniv (its when he wants to go isn't it? You won't be sorry)

We've been to the MNSSHalloween Party twice and I can tell you, it is Heaven on Earth for me! My two teen daughters think it is just as awesome as I do. My husband also enjoys dressing up. I think it's the most magical time that I've ever been there, and the crowds are not bad.
I've never been down at Christmas time because I don't want to waste my money when it's crowded. I also don't enjoy taking a trip to Florida if I have to wear pants and a jacket. Some day I do want to go to enjoy Disney during the Christmas season, and since my birthday is sometimes on Thanksgiving Day, I keep hinting to my husband that it would be an awesome Birthday present, but we do Thanksgiving every year and he enjoys making his smoked and fried turkeys (I make the one in the oven)....
But I think you should go with the Halloween Party. Then for your next anniversary, try the Christmas Party. You should post a poll on the Theme Park thread, which is better, Christmas Party or Halloween Party?
and read the responses.
Have fun whenever you go!

April spring break seems to be an east coast thing. Ours is the 3rd week in March and has nothing to do with when Easter falls, all of Iowa is sometime in March.
The kids have 1.5 days off at the end of April, and that is a great time for DH to take off work, so that's when we are going.

We are thinking of going April 5-13, which is NOT our spring break. We just figured it was more then week after Easter, and most of the April breaks seem later in the month. This was confirmed by it being a Wonderful Week of Disney. However, based on some responses to a thread I posted a few weeks ago saying the crowds will still be high, we are semi-considering the beginning of February instead. Our kids like to swim and I figure April would be better for that. Still, if the lines for the rides are a lot shorter, that will make for a much happier 7 and 4 year old!

We're going April 12-16 and the week of April 14-18 is when my kids are off school (we're in Western NY).
We went over our kids April break in 2005, in early May in 2006, and in July 2007 - I don't really notice a huge difference in crowds between any of these trips. But, we always get to the parks at opening, use Extra Magic morning hours and FastPass and we've always done really well despite crowd levels.

In April of 2007 they gave away the hoppers, water parks and more options for no charge. We didn't use it because we would have lost our AAA discount. We don't really use hoppers anyway and the kids didn't want to go to the water parks so it really wasn't worth it to us.

AAA can be had at any time if they are available, just have your agent ask for you or call WDW and ask. You do need to be a AAA member though. The codes we are all waiting for are discounts that Disney offers for AP holders, Disney Visa holders and FL residents. After that they sometimes will have a general public code as well.

JetBlue fares for April are out now! When you go to the home page, click "book your flight" at the top. For some reason, if you enter your info on the home page, it only shows dates up to Feb., but if you click "Book your flight" you are taken to another page where you can access Mar and Apr fares. I know what you mean. I originally wanted to leave for WDW on April 19th, 20th, or 21st and come home on the 26th, 27th, or 28th, but the fares were too high. I ended up playing with the dates a little and we're going Apr 16-24. The kids will miss 2 days of school since their break starts on the 21st. Wow, I just checked flights for our Spring Break and I could book RT from Virginia to Orlando for $222 each. That's not bad, but I'm betting it will get a whole lot cheaper! Man, I love having Airtran & Southwest fly out of two airports that are less than 30 minutes from our house. It keeps fares low & competitive. On a couple of our trips, we've flown down Airtran and back up Southwest. The downside is that we can't just park our car at the airport, we'll have to get a friend to drive us.

What airline is this? It seems that our dates are a fortune. If we could leave earlier it would be great but my DSD is in school and we cannot ake her out early! AHH
Airline is Jet Blue. It doesn't have service in a lot of cities, but for us, it worked.

OK we just booked on Air tran for April 19- 25. We leave 1 day early but not until 9pm, so we cans till spend the day in the parks. We paid $59 each way from NJ!!!

FYI, I've found out the hard way that the best time to look for the cheapest airline prices are Saturdays, early morning. And, of course, always cheaper if you're not flying Saturday to Saturday.

We looked at White Plains too. It was cheaper for us to fly out of Newark. $99 verses $59 each way. I liked the really late flight home too. A day in the park and then you don't have to pay for a hotel room!

We took a late flight home last year for the first time and it worked out great, and as you said we saved a days hotel fee. This year we are taking the 4:30 flight out of MCO to WP. I figure we can stay in the parks until 2 then head to the airport(another reason to rent a car!).

I just booked our flight out of Newark... 844 RT for all 5 of us. I didn't really want my kids out of school but the only way we can go is if they miss 3 days. The 3 days are before their spring break, so I am going to ask for their work, this way when we get back from WDW they have 4 days to do it.

Our flight leaves MCO at 9pm so we can pretty much have an early dinner or late lunch and head out. We are doing ME so we will need extra time I'm sure. I figure we should head out of the parks by 5pm.

This afternoon, I booked Airtran :goodvibes from White Plains for Thursday, April 17 for $101 and coming home a week later for $134. I should have booked late last night when we decided for sure to go. I lost the $101 fare on the return trip overnight. The whole thing for the 4 of us is a little over $1,000, so I guess that's not bad for Spring Break. :) I'm used to travelling in August with fares more in the $60-70 range, so this seems like a lot to me. (Congrats to those of you who got those great $59 fares, and good luck to the rest of you still waiting!) The worst is that our flight home leaves MCO around 3. Boo-hoo, nasty flight home...Bad, BAD flight home. :sad1:
Now we need some extra-special room-only or package codes!

I also booked airfare this week. I hate playing the waiting game with fares! Fares from Des Moines are nutso. crazy. rediculously high. and there are no direct flights to Florida, everything has a transfer.
So I booked non-stop flights out of Kansas City on Midwest. It's a 3 hour drive, but even with the cost of gas and a night at a hotel (park and fly) I'm still saving over $200 versus flying from DSM.
Yes, there may be Southwest special fares or dings that come out once they release the dates I need, but based on past fares, I would only be saving another $100 total for the 4 of us. I'll take the peace of mind and assigned seats now.

Hi Jeremy:
Mary at Mousesavers.com has done a terrific job of keeping track of release dates over the years. You can check her historical analysis at http://www.mousesavers.com/historicalwdwdiscounts.html
Nothing is guaranteed, but it's helpful to see what WDW has done in the past. With WDW a lot busier now than it has been since 2001, it's hard to say what they'll do for April 2008, but this might help you evaluate things.

It's possible. If you book and then codes come out for your dates and resort AND they are available, you can get them applied to your reservation (or, you make a new reservation with the code and cancel your old reservation). We have done that. Sometimes we had to switch resorts, etc.

OMG, I just got a PIN in my e-mail!
It offers a discounted rate for value for 07 and then says...
If your vacation dates are flexible,
Save 20% off the nondiscounted price for stays most nights 10/21-11/3/07, 11/11-11/17/07, 12/9-12/15/07, 1/6-2/2/08, 2/24-3/1/08, 3/30-4/12/08, 8/10-9/27/08, 10/19-11/1/08, 11/9-11/15/08 and 12/7-12/13/08.
Does the 20% apply for any resort or only value? We were doing CS for April 4-12th. I'm going to have to call and ask but if the moderate resorts are included in the 20% I'm going to be so excited! That could save us a bundle!

Thats why its closing at 7pm on a friday night ~ its Grad Night. It also means a large influx of HS kids at AS & POP.

New Hampshire has spring vacation April 19th until April 27th (includes weekends) We will be at Disney April 27th until May 4th. I think Mass and Vermont have break the same time. Maine is usually different.
Is is April yet?:)

Why did NH do it like this. Usually we are all 1 week after MA and now some are the same and some are the week after. I'm in the lakes region and we are the week of the 19th same as MA and a whole bunch of others it seems. Now I'm worried it's going to be really crowded.

My kids particular school has always been this week (The last FULL week of April... Never laping into May. It is usually a weeks difference from Maine but the same as Mass. I just found out from here that some schools have the last week of April going into May off. Have a great vacation what ever you decide.
What are you plans for the Lakes Region in April? (I'm just thinking alot won't be open) However it is a beautiful place to visit even without the tourist stuff. :)

I booked AS Sports preferred for 4/17-4/21, just a short trip for me and my mom- she has never been to disney. We will be attending the flower festival at epcot then. My mom has difficulty getting around, especially long distance so I will be renting a wheelchair from a local orlando company. If there is a code that comes out I will upgrade to CSR!! But I am thinking that AS Sports preferred might be better because the preferred building at this resort are so close to everything and that would be great for my mom. At CSR there are no preferred rooms and we may get stuck in the boonies- not good for my mom because of her disabilities.

Oh we are going the week of the 19th no matter what, already booked at OKW:cool1: , just looks like there might be more people there than I initially thought but I've been there for Christmas so it can't be that bad.
The lakes region will be just starting to 'wake up' then. Most everything is up and running by Memorial Day but I like the quiet of non tourist season.

Does anyone know when they will announce dates for Princess and Pirates for April and/or May 2008. I'm booking my trip within the next week just trying to figure out if we want to go the last week in April or the first week in May. Any suggestions???

I have never received a pin code. That pin would be so awesome -- I'm jealous.

I don't know, but someone mentioned in another thread that TGMike has some predictions for P&P Parties.
Hoping for one during April 5-12 :)

I suggest, through someone else's suggestion, to check the Disney site calendar and look when MK closes at 7:00 and that's a good indication of when the pirate and princess parties may be. BUT note that someone said there are grad nights at MK some of those nights -- someone mentioned 2 Fridays, April 18 and April 25, to be grad nights.

Grad nites are april 18/19 and 25/26 there is a site for Grad nite on the Disney site. http://disneyyouthgroups.disney.go.com/program/show/12
I don't think any of the Princess and Pirates Parties for 2008 have been announced yet.

I'm planning a trip from April 19 through the 27th. I have never heard of grad night before, but now I'm a little worried about my dates. Do "grad night" functions get rowdy? Does the party spill out of the function into the other parks or hotels? (I'm not really up for a "spring break" type of vacation).
Thanks.

No. We were there last year during Grad Nights and didn't even know they were there. These students are bussed in and only go to the Magic Kingdom. The Magic Kingdom will close early (7:00pm usually) on thede dates. The other parks are not affected by them. We stayed at POP last year and noticed NO school groups! I would not rearrange my vacation because of Grad Nights. Hope this helps:goodvibes

I just got off the phone scheduling our 1st family trip for April 26th - May 3rd. I don't know much about what you guys are talking about regarding these codes, I assume they are discount codes? Can they be applied AFTER you have made reservations or do you have to use them at that time? How do you get these codes, where would I look?
Thanks for looking....

I plan on coming down 3/29/08 for WrestleMania 24 at the Citrus Bowl. What a great excuse to spend a week at WDW! I'd love to find some codes for that time. Can't wait!!!

You'd find out about discounts right here on these boards. So keep checking back frequently. You'd need to call Disney and get the code applied to your current reservation. I think what they may actually do is cancel and re-book, but whatever the case may be, you do need to call Disney to get the discount.

Was this a room only code? Or was it a package deal? we are going from 3/30-4/5 and we have the dining plan and all included so I was curious if it would be off that or room only? If you could let me know that would be awesome! thanks!!
