Hi Debbiet1:

We drove down last year from Ottawa to Orlando and followed the triptik route the CAA put together for us.

I'll see if I can find that at home this evening and either post it or PM you with the route.

Thanks Mike I'd really appreciate it. When did you guys drive down? We drove down in April 2006 it was a beautiful drive then. Its the snow/freezing rain i'm worried about.

I wouldn't mind hearing about that triptik route either, but the route we usually take (from Cornwall, Ontario) is to cross at the Thousand Islands bridge, which puts us right on the US-I81. We take that all the way to Clarks Summit P.A. where we stop at the Krispy Kreme Donuts there, it's a semi-tradition for the family. From there it's the Pennsylvania Turnpike
(I476) until the I95 which takes us all the way into Florida (with a traditional stop at South of the Border in S.C.) where we hit the I4 and ride it right to Orlando.

We take the 81, 66, 17, 95 route from Ottawa every year and it works well. We used to hit the I-95 earlier but you can get really bogged down in Baltimore and Washington, even using the ring roads. We thought that it would be easy traveling during th night but I don't think they ever sleep! The traffic was still heavy.

I find the route crossing at Cornwall #81-77-26-95-4 to Orlando has less traffic than the 66-19-95 route. (less time on #95) which I find much busier than the route I suggest. Go every year in Feb.

Try taking I-64 from I-81 over to join I-95 at Richmond. That way you avoid all the red lights on #17 and all the congestion on the I-95 at Fredericksburg (too close to DC). After years of taking 66 and 17 we tried the other way last year and will continue to use it.
