Just got home a few hours ago. I'll post a trip report later tonight or tomorrow. Just wanted to thank Gretel (Lisa) for all of her hard work in organizing the Dis meets for all of us. Must have been about 30 Dis families on the cruise!

Some quick notes/news:
Weather was great the entire week! Water temperature was a little cool but you adjusted to it in just a few minutes. Mid 80's all week. Only had a small bit of rain on St John's. Castaway Cay was perfect!

You can no longer check beverages in with your luggage, but you can carry them onboard.

Terrible cold/fever swept thru the ship with many children ill for a day or 2.

Sports Fans: ESPN skybox staff confirmed that the Super Bowl will definitely be televised, even in your stateroom.

Western cruisers: Excursion desk informed me that they are close to finalizing the excursion list for the Western cruise. It should be available by the end of February. The Disney Company Channel televised in the stateroom gave a sneak preview of some things to do at the Western ports. Also had some cast members tell us that a 14 day cruise option will be available.

Thanks to everyone for all of their assistance. We've picked up many valuable tips over the past year that make our vacation more enjoyable for the whole family.

Can't wait to read your trip report!! I will be watching for it, soon I hope!!

Thanks for all the info, we are planning on bringing some refreshments on board and this news about beverages kind of crimps our plans.

What if we pack it in a taped up box or as luggage, would that look too suspicious?? I don't want to have to drag a bunch of 12 packs around til we get to our stateroom. Are they more worried about leakage or luggage limits or what (or profits)??

I have waited all week to make this post of welcoming all of the 1-19 cruisers back - I met about 6 families at the Radisson on 1-18 and I knew this was going to be one heck of a great get-together by those that I met up with - Everyone was full of vim and vigor - ready for Mickey and Company.
Glad the trip was awesome - met new friends and got together with old ones. Glad you got home safe.
Stay that way
Warmest regards
Always
Shirley

I think the 14 day cruise will just be the western and eastern cruises booked back to back, but at a special rate along with the same cabin assignment. I'm hoping its a BIG discount!

I think you could pack your beverages in your luggage without any problems.

The baggage porter told us that it was due to leaks.

You're right, you don't want to have to carry your drinks onboard, its a real hassle!:) :)

We purchased 4 12-packs of soda on the way to the port. We had a spare rolling dufflebag that we checked with the porters before boarding the ship.

Note to self:

48 cans of soda is way too much for a 7-day cruise. :)

all I want to know is if you enjoyed it and if everyone at least knew I was on the shore watching and "wishing upon a star" that I could have been a part of it.

Glad you had an awesome time.
Always,

I saw Pluto several times during the cruise and I can safely say he was having an awesome time. (My DH was picked to be a judge for the 70's party with Pluto). The cruise was the best one so far. Can't wait to do it again.

Towncrier, I couldn't drink my one 12 pack, what made you buy FOUR???

hmmmm....:D

My DW now wants to be a part of these boards after that cruise. I was also told by my DW that you have, what might be considered, a compromising picture of something Debby?

Sorry we didn't get around to meet with anyone ( DIS meets ), but circumstances did not allow it. Yes the weather was super and the fun was every where. We will definitely be cruising again.

This was our first cruise but will not be our last! We had a great time. The weather was perfect. It was nice meeting some of the people from the boards.

Shirley-- Your baskets were a big hit!!! Thanks for your help.

Hi guys!!

We just got back a couple hours ago.
Our cruise waw absolutley perfect except for two things.
Emilee was sick a couple of days with the "ship" bug and the noise from Deck 9 above our Deck 8..argh...............other than that it was wonderful!

Golden Eagle Catamaran DISers you ROCK!!!!

What was your stateroom #? I'm trying to figure out which Deck 8 staterooms are most prone to bothersome noise from Deck 9. How bad was it? What time of day was it the worst?

Hi Dave
We were in stateroom 8080 and at all times of the day and night it sounded as if someone was rolling barrels across the deck. The night before disembaration (or should I say 3:00 in the morning) the crew must hae been preparing for the next cruisers because I thought the roof was gonna fall in. LOL

I would love to do a Cat 3 again, but don't know if i will because of the noise.

Other than that it was MAGICal!!!!!

My DW and I enjoyed meeting some of the Dis folks also.

We really enjoyed our first 7 day cruise and now I'm worried that we are not only hooked on cruising, but we're hooked on the one that costs the most money as well.

Hope everyone plans for their $99 3 day cruise soon. They'll be filling up with all of the January cruisers soon. I'll bet the crew starts referring to us with disdain as 'those voucher people'.

I calculate that there were 8 cruises that started in January that were eligible for the vouchers and there are 875 cabins on each ship, so we're competing with a maximum of 7,000 vouchers.

There are 12 three day cruises in the fall that we are eligible to book into and not all of the cabins on those cruises will be available for the 'voucher people'. If we figure an even distribution of cabins throughout the range of dates in the fall, it would be about 583 cabins per cruise, or 66% of the total cabins.

Here's my math:
7000 vouchers / 12 cruises = 583.3 cabins
875 cabins on each ship / 583 voucher cabins = 66.6%
12 cruises x 875 cabins = 10,700 cabins total
10,700 cabins total / 7000 voucher cabins = 65%

We booked our 3 day $99 deal last night for the 10/24 cruise.

Hope to see some of you then!

We were in 8088 Dave. Daily 7am wakeup call with the chairs - only lasted about 10 minutes then it was over.

We were in 8586 and the noise was all hours of the night, as well. We were under Scoops and I don't know what they were moving but it was LOUD!

We loved the location of our room. But don't know if I would stay in that location again. I think we only had 2 nights that the noises weren't loud. Otherwise it was kegs rolling, things clinking, or waiters running into each other and dropping things...I don't know who they were serving at 12:00am-6:00am:pinkbounc

Other then that had a wonderful time Ü

We had two cabins, hence we have booked TWO "voucher" cruises for the fall (through Dreams Unlimited of course). My DW Sue will be travelling with her mom and aunt on October 3rd, and then a month later Sue and I will be cruising on November 7th. The people that I work with aren't surprised that I've already planned (and booked) my next Disney vacation.

It was great meeting everyone on the ship. I wish that I had more time to spend with each and every one of you, but the week went by so quickly.

Hi all! We sure enjoyed our 1-19-02 cruise. A special hello to SC Minnie, SC Duckman and DD (our table mates).

I was going through post-cruise depression, so I got busy and booked our $99 fall cruise for 10-17-02.

I haven't got any of the pictures developed yet -- I was hoping for a special on film developing since I took so many pics. I will check the ads this coming Sunday. I should have some good ones from the Golden Eagle Catamarran!!
