The Bride: Elaina [21]
The Groom: Sean [24]

When: Tuesday June 24 2008

Where: Willow Park Banquet & Event Center

How We Met:

Sean and I met my Freshman year in High School; He was a Junior in my Spanish class. ;) Sean was pretty shy and although we sat only about 3 chairs apart he didn't talk to me much [this may have been due in part to the fact that the 2 chairs that separated us were occupied by my loud best friends:rolleyes1 ]
I thought Sean was attractive but never really had any ideas to talk to him about. One day about a month into the school year I noticed him looking at negatives for his photography class. Finally! Somthing I could get my feet wet with!:cool2: I began asking him if I could look at his negatives and our conversations spread out from there.
Sean and I had to ride 2 school buses [one to the local middle school and then separate buses to our neighborhoods.] This provided a chance for us outside the classroom to talk. We talked frequently and my "crush" grew. Toward the end of the school year I got the courage to tell him how I felt......in a note that was handed to him by my girlfriend :lmao: Poor Sean.....he thought I was trying to play a practical joke on him and didn't believe that I actually had feelings for him!:sad2: He told me he didn't feel the same way and wanted to stay friends.
The next year he was a Senior and I was a Sophomore. My birthday is in September and while I don't remember exactly how it was said, Sean hinted at the fact that he really did have feelings for me, and when he asked me what I wanted for my birthday I told him I wanted him to ask me out! He did and I said yes.......now the next part is not so romantic......and I hope none of you will think the less of me for being young and naieve. :scared:
Sean and I dated for about a month and a half. We saw each other only a little in between classes and on the bus, but being young we weren't "dating" as older people do. When I broke up with him I told him it was because I thought we were better off as friends.....this was partly true.......the other part was that I was worried that my friends didn't approve/judged me for liking Sean because he was kinda a nerd and "chubby". :sad1: It was wrong....I was wrong. However being young and in high school i'm sure all of you can relate to these feelings of conformity at one time or another.....
Sean and I remained friends and I dated a few other "socially appropriate" a**holes. :rotfl: To give you an idea of the kind of men I was dating: One day my friend and I cut class [very bad I know:guilty: ] and we went to Starbucks. On our way back to the school it started to downpour out of nowhere. We of course had no umbrella and were soaked to the bone when we returned. We passed by my Boyfriend as we entered the school and he just cracked up asking what we had done. Even though we were both visibly shivering he just kept laughing and headed back to class. We went into one of the bathrooms to attempt to dry ourselves as much as we could but this was rather pointless.:confused3 We started to head to our next class and I passed Sean in the hallway. He took one look at me walking down that hallway, pulled off his hoodie sweatshirt and gave it to me to wear......thanks to him I didn't catch a cold.......he however did. This situation made me start to second guess my stupidity.
At the end of the year I took a trip to Tennessee and Sean had let it slip during a conversation before I left that he still liked me. Of course I couldn't stop thinking about this, even though I was with another guy. While I was gone I called my then DBF and during our conversation realized that not only did he not know when I was returning home.....he didn't even know I had left!!!!! [Even though I told him repeatedly I was.] When I got home I found a handmade Journal on my front porch [Sean's dad owns a Book Bindery business called DreamingMind] Inside was a note from Sean saying how much he had missed me and that he thought I could use the Journal to "Jot down the highlights from my trip." When I told my best friend what he had left, her response was "Yeah.....that boy's been driving me crazy about how he missed your phone calls and counting down the days until you returned! He Even knew your flight number!!!" You should have seen my jaw drop.......I knew right then that I had let somthing special go.:cloud9:
The next day I got a shoebox and inside I put the Jessica Simpson song "10,000 lifetimes", about 300 cut up pieces of paper with my lip prints on them in a cloth bag, a crystal rose and a letter in an envelope. I wrote out instructions telling him to dump out the pieces of paper over his head, and listen to the song before opening the letter. Inside the letter said "Now that i've showered you with kisses, given you flowers, and promised i'll love you forever.....will you be my man?" He called me up and said yes and we've been together ever since.

Ok i'll stop there for now....sorry if that was too much of a novel, but I think it's important to put in details:rotfl:

The Engagement:

I am a huge Disneyland lover, so for the last two years Sean and I have traveled down to Disneyland to celebrate our June 24 anniversary. :goodvibes

Prior to this years trip Sean had hinted at the fact that he was going to propose to me, he just didn't know when, where, how, etc. About 3 months ago my promise ring's center CZ stone became very loose so we took it down to the local ShaneCO to see if they could repair it. While we were there Sean had me try on a few different ring styles.....Round, Princess, big, small, White gold, Yellow Gold etc.....all of course "just for fun";)

Fast forward to June 23rd of this year. Sean and I were strolling around Disneyland and he said "I need to go take care of somthing". At which point he headed off in the direction the the bathrooms :rolleyes1 So here I am sitting on the benches next to the partner's statue thinking "gee I hope he's ok" :guilty: I sat there for probobly 15-20 minutes before he returned....his excuse? "Lunch didn't sit well, but i'm fine now!" Well I too have a stomach issue called IBS so I didn't think twice about him using the restroom for a few minutes.

The next day was the 24th...our 5 year anniversary:love: Sean and I were leisurly taking in the park and the attractions waiting for our 6:20 PS at Blue Bayou when again he said "I'll be right back" This time I only waited about 10 minutes, and again he claimed he had used the restroom.

At 6:00 we made our way over to the Blue Bayou and requested water side seats for our dinner. The hostess told us it would be about 1 hr to 1.5 hrs before we could get seated. We were seated no more then 5 minutes later:eek: I was thinking we had just gotten really lucky! We had incredible seats, right in the center of the restaurant. We had a wonderful meal! Sean and I shared the crab cakes and then we split the filet mignon [probobly the best filet mignon i've ever had!] When the waiter came and took our dinner plates away he said "i'll be right back." I heard this but didn't think anything of it. I figured he meant right back to take our dessert order or give us our check. So Sean and I sat there for about another minute or two talking about what we were going to do in the park that night when the waiter comes back out and sets a plate down in front of me.

I looked down at this plate and immediatly noticed it had flowers all over it......odd....but then I saw the treasure chest.....and for some reason I remembered the Creme Brulee dessert pics i've seen on the dining review boards and I thought it was that......then I saw that glint in the center of the Treasure chest and realized it was a ring! Now mind you all of these thoughts went through my head in about 1 second but I distinctly remember thinking all of this! So I look over at Sean's chair and he's already down on his knee next to me!:cloud9: I remember I started smiling like a mad woman and I almost started giggling [ I do that when I get nervous] :lmao: Then I started thinking "Shut up and listen because it's important to hear what he says!" So there Sean is on his knee and he says " Elaina I love you! I want you to make me the happiest man alive....Will you marry me?" I started nodding and smiling some more and said yes.....although Sean says I said it so quietly that he barely heard me, but he knew I was saying yes from the vigorous nodding! [I made him ask me once more during the fireworks just so he knew I said yes!]:rotfl: Here are some pics.....the first one is the plate the ring was presented on, the second was taken 30 seconds after I said yes, and the last 2 are pics of my ring!

EDIT: Ok time to finish this up! After dinner Sean and I went to Main Street and staked out a spot to watch the fireworks by the Partners Statue. While we were waiting he told me how on the day before when he had gone to the "bathroom" he had really gone to the Blue Bayou and spoken with them about his plans. Then earlier that day when he again "used the restroom" he had been dropping the ring off with them. I was very surprised and thought it was absolutly perfect!

07-03-2007, 05:01 PM
thats a great story and you two look so happy together in the pictures. Can't wait to hear more!
Congratulations on your engagement!

07-03-2007, 05:46 PM
:) Great start to your pj. You look so cute together!

07-03-2007, 05:59 PM
he was smart enough to let you know he still cared and you were smart enough to realize that the whole package is what counts - not what other people see - because the most important thing is how you make each other feel special!

and I'm so glad - you guys look so incredibly happy together - can't wait to read more! oh yes, and what a stunning ring AND proposal!

patiently waiting....popcorn::

Possible Wedding Venues

So this week Sean and I took our moms to one possible wedding location called The Brazilian room. Here is the website http://brazilianroom.org/brazilfacilities.html

It was nice, but the pictures made it seem as the ceremony site was directly in front of the trees [from a distance] when in actuality you have to go down a hill, across a road and up a hill for the trees.....no big deal it just didn't seem like "the one" ya know?

So tonight [Thurs] Sean and I went to look at a place called Willow Park Chapel and event center. http://www.willowparkeventcenter.com/
Its located on a golf course and all I can say is wow! I saw the wedding chapel which is an outside meadow fully enclosed on all sides by trees and shrubbery and you get married below an arbor and it was just perfect! I don't know if you can feel a "the one" kind of feeling for a venue but I think I did! :cloud9: I'm going back on Saturday with our moms [Sean is working] to have them look at it and see what they think [it will also be decorated at this point for other weddings]. I'm hoping to have a somewhat done wedding budget by then so I can give the woman there a rough idea of what we can spend. If all goes well Sean and I may move up our wedding date to this June!:goodvibes

07-07-2007, 11:35 PM
Ok so I took Sean's and my mom to Willow Park today and showed them around. They both liked the place.....not sure if they love it like I do but thats ok!:) We are waiting to talk to the event coordinator Maggie next week to see about price packages etc but hopefully if all goes well within the next few weeks [2?] we'll have a contract signed. Sean and I are considering moving up our wedding date to June of 08 instead of 09 which is why I have 2 wedding tickers at the bottom of my siggy......one will be deleted as soon as I know when it's really happening!:lmao:

07-28-2007, 12:58 PM
Ok so a lot has happened!!!! Sean and I have not only picked our venue site, but we've also moved our wedding up a year! Were going to be getting married at Willow Park Banquet & Event Center and since our anniversary date was still open for 2008 we decided why not just do it now? The event coordinator at Willow Park is named Maggie and she is really sweet! She has arranged for our wedding venue site price to include not only the ceremony and the reception [catered] but also the DJ and the Bakery!! Were going to have our wedding in the Wedding Chapel, which is this georgous little meadow completely enclosed on all sides by trees and bushes; it has an arbor under which we will be married and in order to get into the meadow you have to cross over a little white bridge! Ok so here are some pictures:

This is the Bridge we have to cross over to get into the meadow:

My favorite thing about the bridge is the fact that all the guests inside the meadow can't see you until you get to the end of it....so i'll get to straighten my train without everyone seeing and make an entrance!!!:lmao:

This is the path that we will walk down once were in the meadow [this shot wasn't taken from the bridge so theres about 5-10 more feet of pathway going to the bridge]

This is the arbor where Sean and I will say our vows and become husband and wife! I'm sooo excited!!!

Once we're married we'll be having our reception in the ballroom. The ballroom is located in the main building [about a 3 minute walk from the chapel....if that!] Our reception is going to be 5 hours. My favorite aspects of the ballroom are the fountain [it reminds me of my Italian heritage] and the dance floor it's simply stunning!:cloud9: Here is a picture:

Ok so in addition to having picked our wedding site we have also picked our DJ, his name is Mel and our Bakery, Custom Cakes by Dorothy. Both of these vendors were used by one of my coworkers and they seem absolutely wonderful!

Sean and I have chosen our wedding colors: Navy Blue, Darker shades of Pink, and white.
The navy blue will be used as my MOH dress and the vests/bowties for the groom and BM. It will also be used as an accent color for the bubble wands, confetti, marbles in the centerpieces, Invitations and possibly the flowers on the cake.
I will of course be wearing a white dress or Ivory [sorry no pic of this yet as it hasn't been chosen] I will be carrying a bouquet of pink roses. My MOH is my sister [she will be 12 at the wedding] and her dress will be Navy Blue and she will carry a pink/white rose bouquet.
The BM and Sean will more then likely have a white flower in their boutineirs with a navy ribbon.

We have also chosen our theme; We are focusing on the Castle at Disneyland. So were going to be having a Castle Cake Topper, a Castle Candle Favor, Castle, Mickey Ears, and Tink Confetti for the tables, Castle Invitations, and Cake Server / toasting Goblet Castle set. [so far]

I've also started doing some of the smaller decorations. So far i've started the bubble wands for the ceremony [for people to blow at us.]

I've painted and crystalized the "I Do" letters [a wonderful idea I found right here on these very boards! Thank You to the many brides who gave me this inspiration!:grouphug: ] These will be set out right in front of the cake.

These are the Hole Punches that we are using to make the confetti. The confetti will be Navy Blue, Pink and White and will be scattered on the reception tables, and the guest book table and possibly the cake table.

As I mentioned above we've picked the favors. We're going to be using a Castle Candle in a box. Originally we were going to use little glass slippers but when I ordered the sample the quality on them wasn't great. The glass wasn't smooth and the shoe didn't set level when placed on the ground. So I ordered a sample of the Castle candle and they will work perfectly! Excellent quality and we can have the ribbons personalized with our names/date. Here are pictures of the Glass Slipper that we're not using now and the candles that we are using:

We picked up little bells for people to ring when they want us to kiss at the reception. We also picked up disposable wedding cameras to place at each of the reception tables so our guests can help us capture the moments of our special day!

I also picked up a wedding planner to help me keep things organized and detailed. I love the fact that it's a 3-ring binder so I can add pages as I go!

Sean's mom Gail wanted to make Castle shaped cookies for the rehearsal dinner so she ordered this online, I think it's adorable and a very nice size!

07-28-2007, 01:06 PM
These are our Invitations: I love the fact that the background matches our navy color [even though it looks lighter in this picture]

This is the Castle Cake topper. You put batteries in it and it lights up, I love that and the fact that its made of poly-resin so we can keep it as a souvenir after the wedding:

Here are two dresses that I like: I'm looking for somthing elegant, princess like, and just somthing that makes Sean's jaw drop!:lmao:

Here are two hairstyles I found online that I like. Obviously I'll look more at hairstyles after I have the dress and tiara picked out because those affect the hairstyles you can use.

I don't have a picture of the dress I want to use for my sister but it is an ankle length spagetti strap dress and she'll look really pretty in it.

Oh and this is the basic idea for what I want my bouquet to be [colors included] Thanks to one of the brides on here!

Ok so thats what i've done so far......next week i'm going to start looking into the officiant, photographer, and florist. Oh and within the next month i'm going to start looking at dresses as well.

Hope you all like what I have so far!:goodvibes

07-29-2007, 09:20 PM
So today I finished up the bubble wands :woohoo: and last night I punched out confetti for 2.5 hours......let me tell you my poor thumb is still numb!:scared: I'm going to have to alternate days that I work on that because it starts to hurt so much!
I also started looking at songs that we want played at the wedding. So far were going to use "A Whole New World" from Aladdin as our recessional song, "That's Amore" By Dean Martin as our first dance [my grandfather used to sing this to me as a child], and "Save the Last Dance For Me" by Michael Buble' as our final dance.
I'm still looking into the father/Daughter and Mother/Son dance songs.......Sean doesn't seem to have any preferences so i'm going to ask his mom what she'd like and i've asked my father to help me pick a song for our dance.
So now i'm looking into Florists, Photographers, and Videographers. How on earth did you all pick your Photographer/Videographers?!?!? This is probobly the two most important aspects for me for this day and i'm really worried about getting somone who isnn't very good!:sad2: Ok well thats all for today!

07-30-2007, 12:35 AM
I have a suggestion for your confetti...try punching it with your foot! It will give your hand a break. One of my BM and jr BM punched out all the mickeys for my bubble wands...they started punching with their feet b/c it made their hands hurt! lol

I will have to say that whatever photographer/videographer you pick, make sure you are totally comfortable with them and their style. Interview them, look at their work. We actually only met with one photographer (well, husband/wife) and knew that they would be the ones for us (Boutwell Studio). For a videographer, I asked the Boutwells who they recommended. It was important to us that they all work together. Asking your photographers who they suggest is a great way to cut down on the stress of looking for a videographer blindly...

08-05-2007, 12:13 AM
Happy Dance Time!!!!

This week has been extremely productive! {stressful to say the least} but it all worked out in the end and a lot was accomplished!

Sean and I have picked our photographer, Vandenbroek Photography..... www.Vandenbroekphoto.com ... to me is one of the most important vendors we will hire so I was incredibly picky with this decision. We had it narrowed down to 2 different ones, and in the end the runner up was simply too expensive and we wouldn't be getting as much for our $$$.

We have also chosen our Officiant! We met with a wonderful woman named Rev. Houghey and she seems absolutly perfect for our ceremony! Now we actually have somone to make our wedding legal!:woohoo:

I also was able to find a wonderful deal on a Videographer www.Grapevideo.com. So next week Sean and I are going to sign the contract with Grape Video!!! This is another thing I was very picky about! To me the photography and the videography are going to be the only things I will have after the wedding.......the flowers will wilt, the food will rot, and the dress more then likely will yellow [even with proper preservation] but the photos and video will last forever!:cloud9:

The work continues on the confettii.......I must admit this is a feat I had not completely thought through........:sad2: it's turning out to be a very long drawn out and painful process [my poor thumb and palms are numb!] I'm a bit dissapointed with the castle hole punch as it continues to get "stuck" and I have to lubricate it to make it work.......at some point I may end up needing to purchase another one from Disney.......:rolleyes1

I also spoke to a couple florists in the area and while i've budgeted $1000 for the flowers I was pleasantly surprised to be quoted about $600 from a few of them. I'm focusing mostly on pink and white roses with some greenery and as my wedding will be in June these are readily available! Yeah!!!:woohoo:

Next weekend my mother, grandma, and Sean's mom and I are going to begin dress shopping! I'm a little nervous but very excited! I think once I see myself in a wedding dress all of this will finally hit me..........though I must admit writing the $1000 deposit check to the photographer certainly did make it seem real LOL:eek: I'm expecting a bit of drama with the whole shopping thing......getting the in-laws together as of yet hasn't been a huge issue but I can only imagine having them each shove 5 dresses in front of me and then me feeling completely overwhelmed! Ok breathe.............:cool2: Ok I'm good now!:cool1:

Hope you all enjoyed this update sorry no new pictures yet!

Elaina - I am really enjoying reading your planning journal! popcorn:: It sounds like things are coming together nicely for you! Did you pick out a dress yet? When I read the story of you and Sean I have to admit I nearly started crying! Your gesture to him and his proposal to you were both wonderful  Congratulations and good luck with the rest of your planning!

08-25-2007, 08:20 PM
I found my dress!!! My mom and Sean's mom went shopping 2 weeks ago and I found it! When I started looking I wanted a strapless, A line with bead work on the bodice, skirt of the dress and the train. I didn't get that.......I got even better!!:goodvibes

First we went to a Bridal Gown Superstore.........all was going well I tried on about 9 gowns and loved a lot of them and had it narrowed down to 2; one had a halter top and the other had really intricate beading on the skirt and once hemmed would have lost a lot of the design. I was trying to decide what I should do and said I wanted to try 1 more on when the sales lady said "I'm sorry but you've already tried on 9 gowns and I can't let you try on any more, we usually limit our customers to 7-9 dresses per day so that they don't get damaged!" I asked her "So you expect a bride to pick her dress out of 7-9 gowns" to which she responded yes. Oh heck no! First of all I had to fight to get both my mom and Sean's mom into the dressing room with me because they only wanted 1 person back there and then my mom and Sean's mom were the ones doing all the work getting me into and out of the dresses [the associate was doing nothing] and now this? Forget it......i'll take my money elsewhere.......all the women in there had an attitude like :snooty:

So we went over to Davids Bridal.......I had heard amazing things about the bridal gown superstore and horrible things about Davids Bridal and I had the complete opposite experience. They were WONDERFUL!!!!! Within 10 minutes I had an associate figuring out my size. I had about 6 dresses I had seen online that I knew I wanted to try on and once she had my size figured out she went through the entire store and pulled each dress off the rack for me to try on. My mom and Gail [Seans mom] each took a seat and got to enjoy watching me model all these dresses while the associate Vanessa did all the work. I honestly cannot say enough nice things about that girl! She was just amazing! So here are some pics of the dresses I tried on [not all are included but the ones I liked best are]

This dress was lovingly referred to as the "Princess Poof" dress for obvious reasons. Gail and I thought it was beautiful and my mom loved the fact that it matched my Castle/Fairytale theme perfectly......but somehow it was a bit too princessy for me.

This gown was the one I had picked out of the catalog as my top choice. Once I put it on however I realized I liked the shoulders and the bodice but the skirt and the train were simply too plain. I hadn't realized the lack of detail in the photos. Gail really liked this one, my mom however didn't.

Finally I tried on this gown and thought it was the one. It wasn't what I originally wanted......I hadn't anticipated getting a lace overlay but thought it would be interesting to try on just for fun. This dress was exquisite and I really loved the train detailing. Both my mom and Gail loved it and thought the simplicity would be great for our outdoor wedding.

By this point Davids Bridal was getting ready to close so I decided to sleep on it and scheduled an appointment to come back the next day [Sunday]. I went home and looked at the pictures I had taken over and over again and really thought i'd end up with the lace overlay, though I was still contemplating the dress with the shoulders even though it didn't have the detailing I wanted.

So the next day we drove back down to Davids Bridal. Once again Vanessa was helping me. I told her I wanted to try on the lace overlay dress and the one with the shoulders again and she went to grab them from the rack. She came back a few minutes later carrying another dress and said her manager had pulled this one off the rack because she thought it would go well with my Disney themed wedding. Apparently everyone at the store refers to this as the "Belle" dress from Beauty & The Beast. Once she called it that she had my curiosity.....I love Belle and have always liked her dress so I figured it was worth a try just to see. She took me into the dressing room and had me try it in. When I walked out of the dressing room and looked into the mirror I started crying!!:lmao: None of the other dresses [out of about 20 that I had tried on so far] had made me cry.....not even the lace overlay one I was intending to buy that day. It had the intricate beaded bodice, skirt and train......and it had Belles bustled skirt look...[I had tried on a dress with the full skirt in the bustled look but because i'm so short it made me look shorter..this however didn't!]......I was in absolute heaven:cloud9: I had never worn anything so incredible in my entire life and I didn't want to take it off! I tried on the lace overlay and the dress with the shoulders again.......shoulder dress was immediatly discarded as it couldn't compare in beauty to the Belle Dress. Then I decided to sit down in each dress and boy am I glad I did! When I sat down in the lace overlay dress my breasts [sorry if thats too blunt] billowed up and out of the dress part way, when I sat in the Belle dress they didn't do this. I decided to try 1 size up on the lace overlay and that solved the problem but I would have had to have the dress taken in and I didn't want to have to do that. By the time I tried on the Belle dress I think I knew which one I wanted, but I wanted to make sure. So now that i've kept you all in suspense here is my wedding dress!!

The Back:
Close Up Of The Bustle:
The Front:
Detailing of the Bodice, skirt, and train:

I wanted to try and get the outfit as complete as I could while I was still wearing it so I chose my shoes, handbag, veil, and tiara while I was there.

Here are my shoes:

My handbag:

Detailing on the Veil:

Here is a shot of the jewelry and headpieces [veil/tiara] I will be weaing that day:

And here is a pic of the entire look:

So needless to say I bought it! I go in to pick up my dress in 2 weeks and then I have to take it back in a few months for the alterations. I know that by showing you all the other dresses I tried on some of you will like a different one better and I have no problems with that. I just knew this one was right when it made me cry. I don't cry when trying on clothes!!

I picked my somthing old, somthing new, somthing borrowed, and somthing blue.
Old: A hankerchief Sean's great-great grandmother made.
New: My Dress
Borrowed: My moms Pearl Earrings.
Blue: My garter.

**Oh and if any of you were wondering there was no drama with the mom and the FMIL! Everything went well and everyone got along! I was soooo relieved lol!**

I have been busy making confetti still.......again a huge chore.....here is a pic of some:

I also decided to send out Save The Date announcements. Usually this is only done with destination weddings but I decided since our wedding is on a Tuesday I wanted everyone to have plenty of time to request off from work. This way no one can say "I didn't have enough time" 10 months is more then enough time!:lmao: Here is a pic:

Well Thats all for now! I hope you all enjoyed this update and hopefully it wasn't too boring for you all.

08-26-2007, 12:00 AM
that dress is GORGEOUS!!!!! You are going to be so beautiful!!

08-26-2007, 03:09 PM
Happy Dance Time!!!!

I booked our Disneymoon today!!!! We're going to Disneyland for 8 days!!!!! :cloud9: I'm soooo excited!!!! I can't wait to go back! We decided to have a really long Honeymoon instead of a short one so we're going to stay at the Motel 6 [formerly Red Roof Inn]. We stayed there last time and the hotel is soooo nice! It's clean and quiet and the staff is so helpful and accomodating! We'd love to have stayed at the Grand Californian but with our budget we would have only stayed like 3 days. I'd rather stay 8 and be in a less fancy hotel then stay in a nice one for 3. Plus we don't spend much time in the room to begin with......Df and I are both the open the park/close the park type [well at least I am hehe]:lmao: I'm thinking with an 8 day trip though I might be more willing to sleep in and actually try using the pool! We haven't booked our flight yet- not sure if we're flying or driving [6 hr drive]. Usually we drive but I think this time we're seriously considering flying! Ok that's all for now!

Thank you all for your wonderful comments!:goodvibes I'm very happy that I found my dress, i'm usually very picky with clothes and I figured it would take me months to find it!

I've been spending some time trying to figure out how I want to do the seating arrangements for the reception. I'm going to have people assigned to specific tables, but not specific seats. I'm still trying to figure out what to name the tables but the more I think of it the harder it becomes. I can't figure out anything that matches our Disney Castle theme as far as table names go.......I tried the Disney Castles like Belles, Ariels, Jasmines etc but a] there arn't enough [I need about 12 -14 names] and b] I couldn't find images of these castles. I'm starting to think i'm going to have to just have the tables numbered with no names. Any suggestions? Thanks!!:grouphug:

Great dress! I'm glad you found "the one."

As far as punching goes - I have heard from several sources that you can sharpen punches by punching through aluminum foil a couple times. I think that might help your castle one. I have also heard that punching through wax paper can help lubricate it. I would try the foil if I were you. I'm a little weary about the wax paper because it seems like wax might get stuck in the wrong places. But you never know. Just thought I'd pass along the information.

For tables... Why not Disney sweethearts? Each table could be a different disney couple. There are plenty of those. Mickey/Minnie, Donald/Daisy, Ariel/Eric, Belle/Beast, Lady/Tramp, Pongo/Perdita, Bernard/Bianca, Tarzan/Jane, Simba/Nala, Aurora/Phillip, etc. And your table could be Cinderella and Prince Charming. I think the best way to pull this off is if you could somehow get a silhouette of each couple. If you can find a good clipart of them, you can take it into photoshop or something and make it all one color. Or, if you're not a photoshop person, you could just print out the clip art, cut it out, and use it as a stencil. That way you could have a navy silhouette on a white background with pink writing. This might be too much work, but I think that would be really great. Hmmmm? I'm not having a Cinderella wedding, but I might consider doing this anyway. Hahahaha! You don't have to use it. But the question you posed got my creative juices flowing.

Good luck!

Wow, Your dress is so BEAUTIFUL!!!! I really love it. What a great choice!!!!

08-31-2007, 10:34 PM
DisneySweetie: I love the idea of the Disney couples! The only problem is we're really trying to focus on a "Disney Castle" theme and not an "All Disney" theme.....if that makes any sense:confused3 I want to incorporate Disney w/o it becomming so Disney-ish that our guests who don't love Disney like us arn't nauseated. :lmao: I love your creative idea for the silhouettes though that would be fantastic! Thanks!:goodvibes

OMG........chaos has broken out as far as my wedding goes. I found an article in the local newspaper on Thursday that stated that the Golf Course we're using for the wedding was going to be making some refurbishments and eventually the Ballroom [where our reception will be held] will also be refurbished. :scared: I called to ask when this would be taking place and found out the're refurbishing the ballroom NOW.:headache: UH......Cr*p! So DF and I went down there today and looked at it......:guilty: ...Basically they repainted the walls peach colored which is fine- I don't care what color the walls are. What I do care about is that they removed the Fountain statue at the entrance to the ballroom and the're in the process of removing the columns on the sides of the dance floor and they will be moving the dance floor into the corner of the room instead of the center where it is now!!! The dance floor in the center of the room was the main reason why I booked this place! I loved the fountain and the columns and now those won't be there either.:sad1: The event coordinator said the dance floor could be moved back into the center of the room for our wedding but the columns and the Statue would be gone:sad1: I'm happy the dance floor will remain the same but i'm upset that all of this wasn't explained to us BEFORE we booked with them. I wasn't even given a phone call and told what was going on.....I had to find out through the paper! The event coordinator claimed that she didn't know any of this was going to happen because the person doing the refurbishments is a friend of the owners and is doing all this as a sort of "gift" to them. The're claiming they didn't even know what changes were goign to be made by the time it was all done- she had to call the lady to find out about the columns etc for me. I'm sorry but as a business owner you would expect there to be some set plan for what was to be done BEFORE even starting?? Not just letting this friend have a free for all decorating spree...:headache: I'm sure I won't be the only one who has issues with all of this. Basically the room I booked for the reception won't be the same room....it'll look completely different.:sad1: I told the event coordinator that I'm very upset with the way this has been taken care of and DF and I feel somthing should be done to compensate us for this.....considering we booked this place assuming it would look the same [not to mention the lack of professionalism regarding telling us] I told the coordinator that somthing as simple as including the Tri-Tip into our total package would suffice [85 people = $250 cost] I don't want to have to find another location for the reception at such short notice because I know we won't be able to find somone who can give us the same stuff for the same price [our current package includes the DJ and cake] The event coordinator said she would speak to the owner re: the tri-tip and let us know. I'm just so frustrated by this......I tried to look at it from an outsiders perspective but even then I feel i'm in the right here......what do you all think? Am I over reacting?:confused3

09-07-2007, 02:55 PM
No, you're not overreacting at all. You booked the site based on the way it looked and should have at least been informed that they were redoing it. I think giving you the tri-tip is a small price to pay compared to their loss if you moved the wedding to another location. Good luck and let us know what happens!

09-07-2007, 03:12 PM
You are NOT overreacting. My goodness, they should have handled this more professionally. I don't care what the coordinator says about not being "in the know" beforehand. As soon as she saw workers doing anything to the room, she should have been on the phone with all her upcoming brides.

The thing that gets me the most is the fountain. We LOVE fountains. Just the thought of having a fountian in the reception area brings a relaxing grin to my face. If I were you, I would be over the top stressed about this change. I probably would have wanted more than a $250 compensation. But, you are playing it safe by asking for that much. You are more likely to get it. Plus, since it's one item on the final bill, it's probably less likely that they will mess it up and it will be easier for you to track that it actually gets taken care of. Good job handling the situation.

Maybe you could ask her about renting a fountain for your day or something?

Good luck. I'm sure your reception will still be beautiful.

09-08-2007, 06:58 PM
Ok now i'm having an issue with my color choices.......I don't know if i'm just stressed out over the whole room redecorations or what but now i'm starting to wonder if my navy blue, bright pinks, and white will look tacky together.....almost childish. Here is an image of the colors as they look in confetti.
To give you an idea of what the reception is currently planned to look like:

*The chairs will have a white cover with a navy sash tied around the back
*Tables will have a white tablecloth with navy cloth napkins
*Centerpieces will be octagon mirrors with round bowlson top with navy marbles in the bottom and then pink roses sticking out of the marbles. There will be 3 candles around the mirror and the confetti will be sprinkled on the tables around the centerpieces.

I'm just trying to imagine it all together and i'm starting to wonder if my color choices arn't going to work. I'm afraid the room will look tacky with too much color and end up being childish [since it is based on a Castle/Disney theme]:confused3

Please give me some suggestions.....and please be honest. I don't want to hear "it looks great" if it really won't.

All this stress with the room changes have made me second guess almost all of my details regarding this wedding..................:sad2:

09-08-2007, 07:18 PM
i think your colors are going to be fine! as long as the pink accents are minor, it'll look great!!! i like your confetti...now i know why your thumb is numb!!!

09-09-2007, 01:40 PM
So far the only pink in the reception is the pink in the confetti, the roses in the bowl, and possibly the roses on the cake. I'm hoping this is a good combination and not "too much" of an accent..........what do you all think?

09-09-2007, 01:54 PM
I'm sorry about your recent bad news!! I agree that asking for the tri-tips is very reasonable. I'd certainly be very upset if I was this far along with planning and was thrown such a major curve ball. I hope they work to make you (and other affected brides) happy!!

09-13-2007, 11:48 PM
Ok so time for an update on the not good situations:

As far as the remodeling goes- I spoke to the owner of Willow Park and she told me that the tri-tip wouldn't work because the restuarant & the banquet facility are separate. She told me however that if we need to rent anything to fill in the spaces left by the columns and statue or to decorate the room she will be covering the costs of the rentals. This seemed like a fair trade to me so all is well..:cool2: ........for now lol......I just hope no other surprises come my way **knock on Wood**

Now as for the colors.......I think my mini-panick attack stemmed from the stress issues w/ the remodeling drama.:upsidedow Anyway I'm going to stick with my original colors and keep the pink to a minimum in the reception. So far it's just going to be used in the Confetti, Flowers on the tables, and flowers on the cake.

I'm picking up my dress from Davids Bridal on Saturday! Yeah!!!:woohoo:

DF and I also picked out our wedding bands!!!:yay: We had to order his from a store back East because it was a special order. There're both from ShaneCo. I will post pics later on....don't have any right now!

09-15-2007, 09:21 PM
Ok so I picked up my dress from Davids Bridal today!!:cool1: The girl who helped me, Vanessa, told me I need to air out my dress so it doesn't get musky.

She said that if I leave it in the garmet bag unzipped halfway I need to take it out of the bag and let it air out for 1/3 hr once a week and let down the train every other week.
If I leave it in the bag totally zipped I need to take it out twice a week for 1 1/2 hrs each time and i need to let down the train every time as well.

I'm sooo worried about this! We have a cat and a dog and while i'm not worried about them spraying or marking my dress I am worried about my white dres touching our not so clean carpets! Also i'm worried about getting animal fur on it!!!

I know some of you must have animals and not so clean carpets. What did you all do for airing out your dress? I don't want DF to see it while its out either which poses another problem.....guess i'll just have to do it while he's at work?:confused3

09-17-2007, 02:54 PM
I think if you keep the pink as an accent color (the roses and confetti), it'll look just fine. I think that hint of pink will look very nice.

10-24-2007, 10:58 PM
Well no big updates for now.......I am continuing to work on the confetti.......slowly:rolleyes1 I still need to book a florist........I have one in mind but I just haven't found/made the time to go book her. I also need to make an appt. with the Bakery to go in and pick flavors etc for the cake- but they are out of town for the rest of the month so the soonest I can do that is in November....oh well plenty of time.:)

Today is the 8th month mark until the big day........i'll keep you all posted!:goodvibes

10-25-2007, 09:28 AM
8 months? Wow- Congrats! That'll fly by so fast :goodvibes

10-25-2007, 09:38 AM
I guess the girl at David's Bridal might have known what she was talking about, but I also bought my dress from David's Bridal and had it for nearly 9 months before my wedding and I never aired it out at all except for the couple times I got it out to show someone.

If I were you, i'd be very leery of taking it out if you have pets. My sister got her bridesmaids dress from David's for my other sisters wedding and she would hang it out to airdry and by the time the wedding came she had places where the cat had had fun with it's claws.

my cats LOVE my crinoline/hoop skirts, i found them sleeping in them last night...not good!

Ok so DF and I went today and met with the florist. 2.5 hours later we had chosen [well i had chosen LoL] the floral arrangements for the wedding. We ended up ordering:

4 arrangements for the arbors and bridge archways
2 standing arrangements for the ceremony
1 bridal bouquet
1 tossing bouquet
1 BM bouquet
2 boutenires one for DF and one for his BM
3 Bouteniers for our dads [stepdad included]
2 mothers corsages
2 grandma corsages
and an assortment of loose roses for the centerpieces.

Almost all of the flowers are pink/white roses, with an assortment of other flowers in the standing/arbor arrangements [same colors]. Overall i'm pleased with what we ordered and the florist was so wonderful to work with! It ended up being about $1200 total [after tax] but I was quoted $1500 by another florist for some of this stuff [not including the standing arrangements] so I figure I got a pretty good deal. :cool1:

We also have a meeting with the bakery next friday to go in and do some cake tasting!! Woo hoo!!! This will be DF's favorite part! LOL :rotfl: Well thats all for this update!

11-10-2007, 03:01 PM
Just caught up with your PJ. First off, congratulations!

So sorry to hear about the reception venue but glad that there seems to be a resolution.

Love your dress, and love your color scheme. And I am not just saying that - this is one of the color schemes I am thinking about using.

Suggestion for the confetti and the numb thumb - is there any way you could get some premade confetti (plain) in one of the colors - maybe navy or white - to fill in? This way you won't have to punch out so much. But I do love it. This is another idea I also have for myself :thumbsup2 .

And for your tables, have you decided anything yet? Since you want to stay away from the Disney sweetheart names, maybe you could just number the tables with a castle place card type of thing??? You know, maybe do cut outs of a castle or different castles on some nice heavy white card stock, number them in navy and spray them with glitter or something...

Happy planning princess:

Thank you so much for your compliments! :grouphug:

Lisella: I am seriously considering just having tables numbered such as 1-14 and having an image of the castle on each card next to the number......simple yet elegant and it will definetly go with our theme! I have to admit there have been some times when i've doubted my color choices [thinking they might clash or be too abnormal as far as wedding colors go] but the farther I get into the planning the more i'm glad I picked what I did.

I also looked into getting some pre-maid confetti as I have seen Castle confetti online......however this was only sold in packages of about 3 ounces and it was silver- n/a in other colors. Also it was very expensive...like 2 or 3 dollars for a package. I like doing my own....it gives me a project to work on when i'm at a standstill for everything else. :goodvibes

I'm using a variety of darker shades of pink with just a few light roses for the flowers so that the pink in the flowers won't be overpowering. Thanks again guys!

Ok so time for an update! Sean and I went to Disneyland November 16-19th and had a great time! It was awesome seeing the park decorated for the holidays! We loved the Nightmare before Christmas Mansion! Here is a pic of us in front of the castle:

So 2 weeks ago Sean and I picked out our cake. It's going to be a 3 tiered stacked cake with pink roses comming down the side like this one and then it will have our castle cake topper: http://www.arribas.com/istar.asp?a=65&image=/istarimages/mp/06186000!EG-386.jpg Our bottom layer is going to be white cake with lemon custard and our top two layers are going to be chocolate cake with chocolate chip mousse filling. The bakery is going to also put little Mickey head dots on our cake!!:cool1:

This weekend my mom and I took my sister [MOH and only attendent] to Davids Bridal to pick out her dress. I had already picked out the dress so we just had to make sure it looked good and fit which it did! Here are some pics of the correct dress and color but not the right size: http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m39/Pomlover2586/PB240123.jpg

Here are some pics of my sister in the correct dress size but wrong color:

I'm thinking of having her hair twisted on the sides and then clipped up sorta like this: http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m39/Pomlover2586/PB240113.jpg

Sean and I also picked out our rings and now I have pics of those too!

Here is a couple of my E-ring with my wedding band; my wedding band is white gold 1 carat TW:

Seans ring is white gold: http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m39/Pomlover2586/PB250141.jpg

And the 3 rings together:

Well thats about all for this update! It's comming along, although more slowly then it was in the beginning. But now we have all the big things picked out besides the music so I guess thats a good thing! Until next time!:goodvibes

11-26-2007, 09:28 AM
Your rings look great together, and I really like the bridesmaid dress you picked out! :goodvibes

11-26-2007, 01:32 PM
Thank You!:goodvibes I'm really excited about all the progress we've made so far with the planning!

Oh I forgot! Confetti continues lol :rotfl2:

Ok once again I need some help from you creative Disney brides! I really hate the idea of walking down the Isle to "Here Comes the Bride". I thought about using "Ever Ever After" from Enchanted but I can't find the instrumental version and everyone tells me a] it'll be really hard to time the music just right and b] it's best to use a song without words. So do any of you have a song Disney or otherwise that you could reccomend? Thanks!:goodvibes

11-28-2007, 08:14 PM
our recessional is to bittersweet symphony, i'm walking down the aisle to a super secret song, so i can't tell you that, but i love something different, bittersweet symphony is fantastic, though, not very traditional.

11-28-2007, 09:36 PM
Thanks! I appreciate the idea! Bittersweet symphony is really a lovely song, i've even heard that one before! Though i'm not sure it's a "walk down the isle song" Definetly great for the recessional though! Were already using "A Whole New World" from Aladdin so that won't work......LOL Any other ideas anyone?

11-28-2007, 10:45 PM
Thank God For Amazon! LOL I found the Disney Fairytale Weddings CD on there and I'm pretty sure i'm going to use "Beauty & The Beast"! This is my all time favorite Disney song [and my favorite movie] I've wanted to use this song somehow in the wedding but DF is paranoid that it compares him to the beast......which it doesn't. But now I can use it without there being any words so it'll be ok! Woo Hoo! I also ordered the Wishes CD:goodvibes Thanks sooo much everyone for all your help with everything!:grouphug:

I just caught myself up with your whole PJ and your wedding is sounding like it will be AMAZING. I love your confetti so much!! And your dress looks like it was made for you. I can't wait to see what you decide for your hair. Congratulations on everything and I can't wait to read more. :)

11-29-2007, 02:09 PM
Awww! :grouphug: Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm really hoping everything will come together at the end! I'm very excited to see the final result!

11-29-2007, 02:37 PM
Thanks to a wonderful DisBride Kstarrfish82:grouphug: I ordered my Castle Cake topper today!

11-30-2007, 01:16 PM
Maybe some of you can help me with a problem i'm having.....I would like to have an image of Cinderellas Castle on the front of our wedding programs. The problem is i'd like to use a Sketch of the castle.....not a photograph somone has taken. I'm having a hard time finding an image that suits my purpose......ideally i'd like it to be black and white but depending on the image color could work also. If anyone could help me find somthing i'd really appreciate it. Thanks!:goodvibes

I ordered our invitations and thank you notes yesterday!:cool1:they should be here in about a week maybe two.

I was wondering how soon you guys started recieving wedding gifts? I wasn't going to order our Invites until January but when we registered at Bed bath & Beyond they asked if they could ship gifts to us starting that day. So I went ahead and ordered the invites/thank you notes just in case somone sends a gift early. :thumbsup2

We didn't start to receive gifts until about a month ago and our wedding is this weekend. We had a really high number of people who are coming. We invited 325 and 275 are coming and they say 2/3 will come so we really aren't expecting too many gifts in the mail/ups.

12-04-2007, 05:55 PM
I started getting gifts as soon as my invitations went out. Then I got a bunch more for my shower. Not a lot was off our registries though... actually we've gotten almost nothing off them!!

12-05-2007, 12:05 PM
We got a gift even before the invites went out! Registry stalkers! LOL Of course, we didn't put the registry info on our invites though...

We received several gifts before the wedding. Those that came more than 1 month before the wedding, I sent a brief thank you to acknowledge that we received it. Everything after that we waited until after the wedding. I sent notes thanking them for attending, if they had already sent a gift and I had already sent a thank you, though...

12-24-2007, 03:50 PM
Today is the 6th month mark until our wedding! Woo Hoo counting down! I can't believe it's been 6 months since we got engaged! Time flys when your busy planning a wedding! Not to mention it shows just how fast those 6 months will go!:lmao:

12-24-2007, 04:32 PM
Time for a little update: Soon I will have photos of the completed Invites, thank you notes, rsvp cards, placecard holders, and garters.

Sean and I have been working on our vows. Our reverend sent us 6 sermons and we mixed and matched until we came up with an individual one of our own. I'd love to know what you all think!:cool1: Sorry if this is long!

Who gives this woman to be married to this man?

Welcome to all of you, as we celebrate the marriage of ___________.

We are gathering together today to share and to bless the commitment of ______&______'s wedding vows. This ceremony is true validation of the love that they feel within their heart and their soul. A testimony of two becoming as one.
They are not only best friends; they are soul mates. They stand before us, strong and committed to each other, ready to face life together as a married couple. They know that through the private commitment of their hearts and the open affirmation of their vows, they are embarking on a life that binds them spiritually to one another.

The relationship that you have nurtured together stands for love that will blossom and grow with each passing day. Before you knew love, you were friends, and it was from this seed of friendship that is now your destiny. Marriage is the clasping of hands, the blending of hearts, the union of two lives as one. Marriage is caring as much about the welfare and happiness of your marriage partner as your own, it is not total absorption into each other; it is looking outward in the same direction together. Marriage makes burdens lighter because you divide them. It makes joys more intense because you share them. It makes you stronger, so you can be involved with life in ways you dare not risk alone. To make your relationship succeed will take love. This is the core of your marriage and why you are here today. It will take trust, to know in your hearts that you truly want the best for each other. It will take dedication, to stay open and honest with one another - and to learn and grow together. It will take faith, to go forward together without knowing exactly what the future brings. And it will take commitment, to hold true to the journey you both promised today to share together. An intimate and secure relationship is not based solely on promises, but also on trust, respect, faithfulness and the ability to forgive. A lasting marriage is based on all of these, bound together by love.

May you never take each other for granted but always experience the wonders of your union. May your life together be a source of strength and inspiration to yourselves, your families and your friends. May you never forget the beginning of your love for one another, take care of it, nurture it, and allow it to grow strong and firm in the years that are to come. May you always concentrate on making each other happy and secure in your commitment to one another and always rely on your ability to keep the promises you have made to one another today throughout the thick and thin of life’s experiences. And may you always be in love. May your love be as beautiful each day you share as it is on this day of Your Wedding and may all of your wishes come true.

I would now ask that you take a hand next to yours so we may join in a blessing for this couple and their wedding ceremony.

Dear God,
We thank you for this day and the blending of two lives joining within the sacred commitment of marriage.
We ask that you watch over them and guide their everyday activities should they be alone or be apart.
May they always know peace, harmony, and abundance in all things; as well as having the knowledge and the wisdom of understanding and complimenting one another's personal views in relationship to life itself.
We also thank you for the greatest gift within all of our lives, that being the gift of love, and the gift of peace. May this union be a constant source and reminder for all of us present here today in the hope that this same energy will extend itself outward and into the lives of others. Amen

The vows that you are about to exchange serve as a representation of the love you have promised to each other. For it is not the words that you speak today which will unite you together as one, but the inner sense of love and commitment that each of you feels within your soul. No other human ties are as tender, no other vows more sacred than those you now assume.

I take thee to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health to love and to cherish, For as long as we both shall live.

I take thee to be my wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, For as long as we both shall live.

May I have the Rings please?
Your wedding rings are a constant reminder that when you are apart, you are never alone. They also represent to all, that you are devoted, and one with another person, physically and spiritually. The circle of the ring is without beginning nor end of the love you have for one another. Please repeat after me.
______, please wear this ring, and the world will know that I am yours, and you are mine.
Now that and have given themselves to each other by solemn vows and by the power vested in me by the State of California, I now pronounce you husband and
wife. You may kiss your bride.
Congratulations! May I now present to you, Mr.and Mrs.

02-03-2008, 12:08 AM
Ok time for another update! Sean and I just celebrated our 5 month mark! Woo Hoo!:cool1:

We went to The Men's Wearhouse last week and selected the tuxes for the big day! Sean will be wearing a black tux with a white vest and white tie [he wasn't too thrilled on this one.....he wanted a black tux with a navy vest/tie combo like his BM- I told him he can dictate what we do on the Honeymoon in exchange.......so much for seeing my dear DLR during those 8 days ;) ]

The invitations, rsvp cards, and thank you notes arrived and they look wonderful! I did make one mistake when ordering them......I completely spaced about the fact that I can send 1 invite per family [in most cases] and so instead of ordering 1 invite for a family of 4 I ordered 4 invites.......1 for each person! I'm gonna have A LOT of extras! Oh well live and learn I guess. Here are some photos:

I also recieved my garters! I ordered a matched set; one for tossing and one for keeping. The have a little castle charm on them:)

In addition the castle pen holder set arrived for the Guest Book table [don't have the guest book yet as Sean's dad will be hand making ours - see Dreamingmind.com for examples of what he does :) ]

I decided to purchase mini castle placecard holders for the table numbers. I decided to simply number my tables instead of naming them, but i'm not going to have every person with a specific seat, just a specific table i.e. Jones Family table 9.

My cake topper arrived! Oh it's wonderful! I couldn't love it any more and it will be a great keepsake after the wedding! It looks identical to the DLR castle!

Sean and I are pretty much done with the ceremony music decisions and I couldn't have done it without these 2 CDS!

I wanted to share my purchase from DLR in November! I bought a really nice leather photo album with the castle on the front! I'm going to use it for our honeymoon photos!

And finally I'm going to meet with my hair stylist on Monday to go over hair styles I want to try and also to discuss costs etc.
things are slowly comming together and we're down to just under 5 months! Time's going by so fast but I'm excited! :goodvibes

02-03-2008, 12:16 AM
Just for fun I thought i'd also share for the first time with you all Sean and I's son! His name is Mr. Merlin BoJangles and he will be 3 in May! We got him when he was about 5 days old and I had to bottle feed him.....somone abandoned him at Sean's work.

Merlin as a baby:

Merlin as a big boy! Try 13 lbs big!

And Merlin holding his "Monk Monk" [monkey that he slept with as a baby to simulate litter mates/mom when I wasn't with him]

02-03-2008, 08:01 AM
Everything looks great! Your vows are very touching and I love your invites! I hope your guests are better about responding than some of the guests of other DIS brides. Btw, Merlin is ADORABLE! I can't wait to read more! :)

Oh yeah, we are getting married a little over a week after you! :cool1:

02-03-2008, 08:45 AM
everything looks wonderful. I really like the invites and the castles. Merlin is adorable too. Looking forward to reading more...

02-04-2008, 08:40 PM
Where did you find the pen??? I love it!!!!!!!!!

02-04-2008, 08:52 PM
I found the Castle pen at Fairytaleweddingstore.com It's much better in person than that pic!:goodvibes

02-04-2008, 08:54 PM
Awww... Merlin is adorable!!

02-04-2008, 09:26 PM
I found the Castle pen at Fairytaleweddingstore.com It's much better in person than that pic!:goodvibes

Thank you - I love it!!!!

02-24-2008, 04:21 PM
Well last night I went ahead and addressed all of our invitations and got them ready to be mailed......even though they won't be going out for a few more weeks :rotfl: I guess I needed somthing to do :thumbsup2 I decided to use clear mailing labels instead of hand writing all of them.....my handwriting is less than spectacular. They look really well.....I was worried the labels would look bad but I'm pleased with them.

Also I called Maggie at Willow Park and scheduled our food tasting.....we're going in on March 29th to do that. I also got some great news from Maggie! It seems that [for now] they have stopped construction on the ballroom and they probably won't be removing the columns around the dance floor until AFTER our wedding:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: This made me very happy........can't you tell?:rotfl:

Sean and I also met with Mel our DJ. He seems amazing! Not only will he be our DJ but he will also coordinate the procession etc. I'm really looking forward to working with him! We changed our music for our ceremony. As of now this is what it looks like:

Ceremony: [All songs are from Disney's Fairytale Weddings CD]

Seating of the guests: Various Disney love songs [instrumental]

Seating of the mothers: "When you wish upon A star"

Groom/BM/ Officiant entrance: "You've got a friend in me"

MOH entrance: "Can you feel the love tonight"

Bride entrance: "Beauty & The Beast"

Recessional: "A whole new world"

First Dance: "Wishes" Peabo Bryson & Kimberly Locke

Father/Daughter dance: "The Way You Look Tonight" Steve Tyrell

Mother/Son Dance: Unknown.....FMIL is keeping it a surprise :)

Cutting of the cake: "Ever Ever After" Carrie Underwood

Bouquet Toss: "Girls Just Wanna have Fun" Cyndi Lauper

Garter Toss: "Shook Me all Night Long" ACDC

Final Dance: "Save The last dance for me" Michael Buble

Well thats all for now.....sorry no pictures for you this time around! I promise to add more in the future though:thumbsup2

02-24-2008, 05:28 PM
I am loving your planning journal..im not anywhere close to get married but i love reading these and following along!

02-24-2008, 05:30 PM
Aww well thank you!:) I'm glad to hear others enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it! :grouphug:

04-05-2008, 08:49 PM
Ok time for an update! Sean and I are now down to just under 3 months until our wedding OR 80 days to go!!! WOO HOO!!!

I had my first dress fitting today. I think it went well. They need to hem my dress, shorten the shoulders, bustle it [11 darn buttons to hold up my train!!:scared1: ] ] and adjust the petticoat. Total estimate was $347! I had budgeted $200-$250!! Yikes! AND they may end up taking in my dress at the hips later assuming I don't gain weight which would be an extra charge! Oh well.......I guess it's worth it!:lmao:

I also went to the mall W/ FMIL and purchased makeup for the wedding.....we went with Clinique. I don't wear a lot of makeup- I'm a pretty casual jeans/t-shirt kinda gal and mascara and lips balm are the staples for me. It felt pretty wierd getting all dolled up.

In fact I wear so little makeup in my everyday life that DF looked at me and said "Gee I don't think I've EVER seen you with that much makeup on!" he was so sweet though and said I look better W/O any!:cloud9: I knew I liked him!

Next Saturday is the tasting for the reception food and the following weekend is the first fitting for my MOH dress.

May will be busy too w/ the bachelor/ette party and my bridal shower. I'm getting excited!:cool1:

And now for the big update!!

I'm a new mommy! :rotfl: A friend found a 7 day old baby kitten and now I get to bottle raise her! She's very sweet and tiny!

04-07-2008, 07:35 PM
Oh! I forgot! This is the hairstyle I'm thinking of for my bridal Shower:

04-07-2008, 08:07 PM
OMG!!!! The kitten is sooooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!!

04-07-2008, 08:52 PM
I love your kitten. He is adorable!

04-07-2008, 08:59 PM
aww your little baby is soo tiny and cute.. Congrats

04-08-2008, 08:37 AM
Beatiful dress & hair.

I looooove your kitten. It reminds me of my baby. My DH & I raised a kitten like that and bottle fed it when we got it at about a week old. Now, because of all that attention, he is the most sweet & loving kitten I could ask for.

04-08-2008, 12:49 PM
Thanks guys! Baby girl is doing well! We're trying to pick a name for her now. So far I like Adelle and Dinah [alice in wonderland]. What do you guys think?

I'm so excited for the wedding- it seems so close now!

04-11-2008, 09:47 PM
Unfortunalty "Baby Kitty" had to be euthanized today......Once her eyes opened it became clear that somthing was wrong. Upon further examination we realized she had not developed her upper eyelids- which means her skin and hair was rubbing against her corneas causing her to go blind- not to mention severe discomfort and pain. She never would have had a "normal" life- blind at best if the surgery alone didn't kill her.

My heart is broken but I know I did the right thing. I just miss her so much right now........

04-11-2008, 09:53 PM
awww, soo sad:( I'm so sorry to hear about your baby kitty.

04-11-2008, 10:10 PM
Sorry about the kitty...hard when you have to make that choice-but you did do what was best.

04-11-2008, 10:22 PM
I'm sorry to hear about your kitten. It is very hard, but you loved your kitten enough to do what was best for her. She was lucky to have your care.

04-12-2008, 12:39 AM
Aww are you serious!!!! I'm so sorry, poor thing :(

04-12-2008, 08:38 AM
I'm SO sorry to hear that!:sad1: Atleast you know that you did all you could.

04-12-2008, 09:28 AM
Aww hun, I understand what youre going through. But just think shes not suffering!

04-12-2008, 09:34 AM
Awe....Poor Thing!

I do like your hair in that picture though....and you look like a princess in your dress!:bride:

04-12-2008, 10:30 AM
Oh, you poor thing! I am so sorry you had to make such a difficult decision. You gave that sweet little girl more love and attention than she would have had otherwise during her brief stay here. Bless you for being so generous.

04-12-2008, 10:51 AM
I'm sorry to hear about your kitten

04-12-2008, 01:39 PM
Thanks guys I appreciate all your sweet comments. I know we made the best decision for her. As much as I wanted her around she never would have been comfortable and she never would have had a "normal" life. I know the pain will get better with each day- but its gonna take a while.

04-21-2008, 08:50 PM
Well time has healed some of the hurt- enough so that I'm able to deal with wedding issues again! And it certainly doesn't hurt that Sean and I are in the process of finding a new little bundle of fur to warm our hearts!:cloud9: Now on with the wedding stuff!

Friday - Mailed out the Invites!! It's Official!

Saturday - Took MOH to her first dress fitting- everything went well and she goes back with me on May 14 to have our 2nd fittings done!

Sunday- Spent the afternoon at Bed Bath & Beyond fixing our registry.......a bunch of our stuff was discontinued so we had to re-register those items. :headache: But I also added a ton of kitchen gadgets to our list so that was fun! I do love those little scanner guns!

My Bridal Shower is in 2 weeks [May 3rd] and FMIL's co-workers have also decided to throw Sean and I a shower! So we're doing that on May 21st!

Anyway thats about all for now.......I'll post more pics as soon as I have them!:cool1:

04-25-2008, 02:19 PM
Ok so time for some pics!

Here is my MOH in her dress!!

Here are my invites going out in the mail!

And here is my new baby!!! She's 5 weeks old- and doing great! First thing I checked was her eyelids!:worship:

Her and her litter mates [she's the one on the far Left]

And I'm not sure if this will work but here is a video of her playing.

04-25-2008, 02:25 PM
Oh, wayyy too adorable! Congratulations! The dress is gorgeous! :thumbsup2

04-25-2008, 02:40 PM
OMG, those kitties are ADORABLE! I'd better not show DH - he'll want the orange one... :cat:

What's your kitty's name?

04-25-2008, 02:44 PM
How exciting sending out the invites:cool1:

04-25-2008, 03:36 PM
oh your kitten is a wee cutie,

Whats her name?

Is she in a cage? Is this just until she is house trained?
I'm amazed such a wee thing knows how to use her litter tray, she's a smart wee cookie.

Your dress is beautiful:bride:

04-26-2008, 05:55 PM
Thank you all for the compliments on the dress and the baby!

I'm very excited that the invites have been sent out! we started receiving rsvp's 2 days later and so far 0 regrets!:thumbsup2

Baby girl currently has no name- I'm calling her "Boo" or "Buddha" but I call all my animals that:lmao:

We are considering another Disney name.....with the last one we liked Dinah or Isabelle but I don't want to use a name we almost used for another- too many memories.:guilty:

I currently like the name Rajah- even though it's a girl and not a boy- it's kind of an A-sexual name. And I also like Kala [mother Gorilla in Tarzan].

Yes mousette kitty was in a playpen. She is already litter trained, we keep her in the playpen when we are not home or out of the bedroom because of how small she is. At just 5 weeks she is too small to roam around unsupervised.

In about a week or two she will be given free roam in the bedroom and in about 4-5 weeks she will have free roam of the house.

04-27-2008, 10:42 AM
So precious!! I just went yesterday and played with some kittens that looked just like that!! Aww... I want one...:sad1:

04-28-2008, 12:19 PM
Your kitty is adorable, I love that one tawny paw - so cute :lovestruc :goodvibes I grew up in a dog family and never realized how totally cool cats are until we got Magic six years ago. I wish your new kitty a long and happy life with you!!

04-30-2008, 08:18 PM
Baby girl has a new name:::: Rajah:cloud9: She's a love and a spitfire all at the same time!

I'm looking forward to my Bridal shower on Saturday!! My best friend and i are going to get mani/pedis Friday night and then i get my hair done on Saturday morning before the shower!:cool1:

55 more days until I'm married!!!!!!

Mama of Indybride
04-30-2008, 10:01 PM
:thumbsup2 Yeah for mani / pedis!!!

I won't have another until after I pay for DD wedding!! :sad2:

I shall enjoy yours vicariously!

Have a great shower!!!

05-01-2008, 01:30 PM
Thanks Mama Of Indy Bride!!

05-02-2008, 01:36 PM
I love your MOH dress. The color is so pretty. Your kitty is adorable!!!!!! Don't you just hate when they discontinue stuff that you registered for? It had already happened to me twice.

05-04-2008, 09:12 PM
Yeah it does suck! However be prepared to have a lot more stuff discontinued- especially since your still over a year out from your wedding! I know it's no fun to re-do your registry:headache:

05-05-2008, 07:49 AM
Wow 55 more days!! I cant believe that! And here I am counting down from 400! lol:rotfl:

05-07-2008, 10:45 PM
Ok well I had my Bridal Shower on Saturday. It went well.....mostly. All of the decorations, food, and games were wonderful and it was Castle themed! We ended up having about 20 guests and I received a lot of really wonderful presents! DF grandma made a few comments that were rather rude and innappropriate........but other than that I couldn't have asked for a better shower! Here are some pics for you guys!

Here is a bad pic of me!

Here is my cake!

Here are the napkins and the Candy Bar favors!

Here are my presents prior to being opened!

And here is my bouquet for the rehearsal!

Here is the punch/cake table!

Well the bachelor/ette party is this Saturday and I can't wait!

05-07-2008, 10:59 PM
That is NOT a bad picture of you. You look lovely. The shower looks like it was very well put together. Shame on DF's Gram for saying inappropriate things. :confused3 I hope you got lots of great gifts to begin your new life with Sean!

Can't wait to hear about the Bachelorette party! WOOO HOOO!:surfweb:

05-07-2008, 11:01 PM
Elaina... It looks like you had a wonderful time at your shower. I loved your castle theme, especially your candy bars. My bridal shower is next Saturday, May 17. I am getting anxious. I hope mine is as lovely as yours looked. Have fun at your bachelorette party this weekend. Mine is the same night as my shower, because i have a handfull of friends and my sister that will be in from out of town. So, we need to get the shower and the bachelorette party down in one weekend.

05-08-2008, 05:51 AM
Looks like you had a lovely shower! Nice job with the castle stuff!!:)

Enjoy your bachelorette party!:yay:

05-08-2008, 11:13 AM
Looks like a wonderful Shower!

05-08-2008, 11:24 AM
the bridal shower looks great, the cake is so cute. Have fun at the Bach. party

05-08-2008, 11:29 AM
Here are the napkins and the Candy Bar favors!

Where did you get the candy bars made? I think I saw personalized chocolate bars on another post as well and I think they are such a cute idea!!

05-08-2008, 11:53 AM
Your dress is absolutely beautiful! I tried on a dress similar to that at David's Bridal when I was looking, but it wasn't as pretty as yours!!

I was just wondering what type of paper you use to punch out the Castle, mickey ears, and tink..

05-12-2008, 10:27 AM
I'm using paper for the confetti that I bought at Michaels. It's kinda see through.......not sure the exact name for it?

My FMIL purchased the candy bars for the shower......I know she bought them online- don't know where. I'll ask her and see if I can't get the web address for you guys.

Bachelor/ette party was awesome! I'll make a post for it later once pics are added!:cool1:

05-12-2008, 02:26 PM
You DO NOT look bad in that picture at all. I think you look great!(I have dimples too :) ) your dress looked really pretty too. I love the theme of your party! I think it's hilarious that everybody had a name tag with a funny name. Somehow I doubt you are a bridezilla though ;) can't wait to hear about the bachelorette!

05-13-2008, 12:18 AM
LOL thanks! Originally I was "Flat Busted" but my grandma paid $10 for me to switch with a friend! It was a game.....you had to call a person by the name on their nametag, and if you called them by their real name you had to put a quarter into a jar.....at the end of the day the money in the jar went to Sean and I for our honeymoon......we ended up with $40 bucks! It was a really fun game!:cool1:

05-26-2008, 06:27 PM
Ok so time for a larger update!

Sean and I had our joint bachelor/bachelorette party a week after my bridal shower! We and a group of close friends went to dinner at Chilis and then a group of us went back to our house where our friends had hired a "dancer" for Sean and I. :rotfl2: Needless to say those photos will not be posted! LOL It was an experience but Sean and I both agree that while it was fun it was a bit too embarrassing to do again. ;) Here is a photo of all of us at our dinner!;)

After much thought Sean and I also decided to add a major member to our bridal party! I will now be having 2 MOH.....my sister and my best friend will both be standing by my side as I say "I Do". Sean is still only having 1 BM but we'll figure out the processional and recessional stuff later. Jenny and I went to Davids Bridal a few weeks ago and picked out her dress. She looks great in it...this photo doesn't do it justice!

Stacy and I had our second dress fittings! Jenny's needs no alterations...gotta love those perfect figures!:thumbsup2 Stacys needs to be let out a little and mine needs to be taken in ;) They also did my bustle.....11 of them to be exact but it looks great!

FMIL's coworkers were also kind enough to throw us a second shower at their work! FMIL is a principle so all her teachers attended! We really enjoyed ourselves!

I also decided on my hairstyle for the wedding after attending a hair trial on saturday. I'm going to use the same style I used at the bachelor/ette party!!

Well we're down to the one month mark!! I'm really getting excited! I finished up my school stuff so now I can focus on just the wedding [and work of course] for the next month! We need to finish the favors, start the programs, table numbers, and get the guest book done, and the engagement photo.....but overall the main stuff is complete. I have a meeting with my photographer and videographers next week to go over some final details....oh and of course pay the balances LOL:rotfl2:

well thats all for now!:goodvibes

05-26-2008, 07:05 PM
I just read through your journal, and I'm glad to see another cat fanatic (we have five)! Your babies are precious!

And I have to agree with everyone else-- you looked gorgeous in your picture. It's funny, I was taking pictures of myself with my webcam today. I kept saying, Oh god, I hope I don't look this dumb on my wedding day. My smiles look so forced. But you know, I'm probably the only one who notices. We're always our own worst critics.

Your dress is one of the most unique dresses I've ever seen! They took so many styles and put it into one. It is definitely the ultimate dress! It's really lovely.

It's nice to see all the work you've put into planning all panning out so wonderfully!

05-26-2008, 11:40 PM
Thank you Jenni! I'm so glad people are enjoying my PJ! It's very fun to keep everyone in my family updated this way and it's nice to know you all read it too!

05-27-2008, 06:59 AM
There's something in knowing you have a cheerleading squad, isn't there?

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

05-27-2008, 09:40 PM
Most Definitely! :cool1:

05-27-2008, 09:48 PM
can i ask if your dancer was male or female? :rotfl2:

05-27-2008, 10:17 PM

05-27-2008, 10:18 PM
can i ask if your dancer was male or female? :rotfl2:

ROFLMAO :rotfl2: We had a female.......which made it 1000X more embarrassing to me! :rolleyes1 Basically the majority of our friends that attended are guys so it wasn't a hard decision. The girls all agreed that she wouldn't have anything we don't have so no biggies there:thumbsup2 She was very professional and tried to make us all feel comfortable...kinda hard with a N**ked dancer in your living room....:rotfl: It was fun- but again very embarrassing:lmao:

05-27-2008, 10:20 PM

You're a better woman than me! Girl, I would have fainted :faint: of embarassment

05-27-2008, 10:33 PM
LOL I wanted to! :thumbsup2 Instead I giggled uncontrollably:lmao: .......thats what I do when I'm nervous or embarrassed! :rolleyes1

06-15-2008, 07:40 PM
Ok so Sean and I are now down to the 1 week and 2 day mark! LOL :thumbsup2 We went and paid off most of our vendors last week- officiant and hair are the only ones left. We also received our photo montage from the videographers to show at the rehearsal dinner.

Here are the favors completed:

I had my final dress fitting and that went well. we took my dress and one of my MOH dress home....the other didnt need alterations so thats home already.

We have also been working on the guest book, seating chart, and photo for the guest book table- its all coming together slowly.

I started pulling out the luggage for packing for the honeymoon, and we've completed the shopping for the attendents gifts. No pics of those in case one of them peeks at this :thumbsup2

Well I guess thats all for this update! :goodvibes

06-15-2008, 08:24 PM
Congratulations, Elena, you are almost there :goodvibes Those favors look yummy!!

06-15-2008, 08:30 PM
The Engagement:

I only somehow just now saw your pj! I LOVE your ring!!

[QUOTE=lurkyloo;24722214]OMG, those kitties are ADORABLE! I'd better not show DH - he'll want the orange one... :cat:

I agree, I love rajah, but that orange one was adorable! DF was looking over my shoulder when I had an "aww" fest and he was like omg i love that orange one!

Can't wait for your TR! :hyper:

06-16-2008, 07:41 PM
Disney Spirit: Yes the favors are delicious! They are a special baking chocolate so they don't taste like regular chocolate [a bit sweeter?] But they are gooood!

Alyssa: Thank you for the compliment on my ring! The orange kitten was a female and she was very sweet......unfortunatly she fell from the top of a crate about a week after those photos were taken and broke her neck. :[ We were all very sorry to lose her.....she was our second pick if we hadn't taken Rajah.

Ok so my MOH Jenny and I went and had all of the rings cleaned today and has my E-ring re-rodium plated. :thumbsup2 I also went and picked up some photos for my hairdresser from our trial run so she has pictures to work from as well as some to put into her portfolio. Tomorrow is the one week mark and I am getting excited.:cool1: The programs are done being printed and now just need to be tied together, as well as the table numbers are finished. All thanks to my FFIL of course! :) Well thats all for now!;)

06-23-2008, 01:17 PM
Woo HOO!!!! I'm getting married tomorrow!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
I don't have any new pictures......at least none that are uploaded into my computer! Hehe:rotfl: I promise to post them as soon as possible.
Sean and I had our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner yesterday. It went really well! We had a great time and things went good during the rehearsal......though I must admit I felt rather clumsy going through the motions of putting a ring on his hand etc. I hope it will be more natural tomorrow :confused3 My Fmil's 3 best friends decorated the rehearsal dinner for us- they even made a sweetheart table for Sean and I! It was amazing! Were going to go decorate the reception hall a bit tonight around 4 and I have to go get my nails done in about 1 hr. Everything is comming together really smoothly and I hope it continues! I probobly won't post until after the wedding- hope your planning goes well!:cool1:

Professional Photos are up! For traditional styling I like them.......I do wish my photographer had done some variations and played a bit more......:confused3 Please tell me your honest opinions though! I want to know what people think.

Hi Elaina, your photographs are beautiful! They make me teary eyed looking at them and I don't even know you!,ahaha It seems that your photographer was more of a "traditional" photographer rather than a "candid" photographer. Just a different style of shooting. Either way, she took some really beautiful photos. I think perhaps you were looking for something a little more candid and playful??

07-09-2008, 06:29 PM
Thanks! It's very sweet of you to say that!

Yes we wanted a bit of both and we asked him specifically if he could do it because we were choosing between him and another photographer [who's work he is familiar with] and he assured us he could do it........apparently not LOL ;)

You were beautiful and I enjoyed your pictures very much! :goodvibes

OMGoodness! So I'm planning on using the EXACT same cake topper! I wonder if you would be willing to answer a couple questions for me. First, what colour is it? Ivory or White? AND do you happen to know the measurements of the topper itself??

You're wedding looked BEAUTIFUL! I love all the personalized touches you did! Great job!
