Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!!!! lol!

You're definitely not alone. Joe and I will be there! Lemme do a quick intro:

I'm Sandy (will be 25 yrs old next month!) and Joe (28) will be on our first Disney cruise on 10/5/08. I can't believe it'll be our 5th wedding anniversary (I got married kinda young. lol) We currently live in Minneapolis

We've been going to Disney since we got married and had an amazing Disneymoon. This year we're going 9/29-10/7 and can't wait! We'll be staying at All Star Music. We stayed at ASMo last year and loved it. Year before that was at PoFQ, and before that (our Disneymoon) we di da split between the BW and the CR.

I'm so excited there's a thread!!!! Tell me about yourself Chanon! (what a cool name-how do you pronounce it? Is it like Shannon?)

yellowfish78
07-02-2007, 10:07 PM
Yep! You got the name right!
It'll just be me (28) and Bob (35) celebrating our Honeymoon!! We are from the Cleveland Ohio area. First honeymoon choice was Hawaii, but unfortunately out of our price range... Maybe for our 5th or 10th we'll finally get there!
This is my second cruise, Bob's first ever. *I'm* the one addicted to Disney - he's going because we are also adding on a few nights over at Universal for their Halloween nights. Booked a Cat 6, and can't wait!

yellowfish78
07-02-2007, 10:13 PM
And I have to ask...BobAndy??? Where's Joe in the name???

sandybobandy
07-02-2007, 10:13 PM
You have no idea how giddy I am that you started the thread and we'll get to know eachother over the next year! lol

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Are you doing anything at WDW before or after the cruise? Currently we're planning to do 4 or 5 nights prior to the cruise at AKL but might (and probably will) change that back to POFQ since we loved it so much. We'll see.

I've never been on a cruise and neither has Joe.

Whoops, just re-read your reply that you're staying at Universal for a few nights. That should be fun. We love Universal but haven't ever stayed on site. Do you know which resort you'll be at?

We're in a Cat 6 too! Did you already book your room? We did and I can't remember off the top of my head which room we decided on. I want to say 6576 or something like that. I know it's a cat 6. :) Did you guys pick first or second seating? Am I asking too many darn questions? lol

I see you're going this year for Halloween. How exciting! Our home countdown reads 83 days. We drive to Disney and this year are leaving 9/27 to stay over in St Louis, then on 9/28 we'll be in Atlanta, and then arrive to Disney 9/29. Like I said, we're staying at ASMu hopefully in the Broadway building. We have all our ADR's set and are trying a few new places this year. Should be fun!

Are you talking about my screen name? I just love the name game song so it's like, "Sandy Sandy Bo Bandy Banana Fanna Bo...." That's where I get "sandybobandy" Is that what you mean?

Nope Just the cruise and Universal with Halloween Horror Nights. I love FQ - that's one of my favorites too!
I've never been on a cruise and neither has Joe.

I'd love to stay at Hard Rock, but Royal Pacific is more in our price range. We've stayed there before and loved it, but the rooms at HR look AWESOME!
We're in a Cat 6 too! Did you already book your room? We did and I can't remember off the top of my head which room we decided on. I want to say 6576 or something like that. I know it's a cat 6. :) Did you guys pick first or second seating? Am I asking too many darn questions? lol
You have got to be KIDDINGME! We are right around the corner!!! Second seating - but still hoping for the 8pm and not the 830pm - dinner cuts kind of close to the Pirates Party when you enjoy good wine, food and company...we almost missed the fireworks!

The October trip is actually with some girls from the DISign Board and families. I think we have about 12 people going! You can always find me on the DDA Thread too - and feel free to pop over and say hi to everyone!

Yep! Thought it might be pet's names or something! I was reading it as Sandy, Bob, Andy....

No way! Get outta town!!!!!!!!!! That's so crazy! And don't worry-we're not the type of folks that'll knock on your door at 7am and see if you want to go for a walk around the ship or anything. Haha! I am pretty excited right now but don't want you to get the wrong idea :)

So how/when do we find out which seating we'll have? We too signed up for the second seating...didn't realize there were several late seatings. Guess I missed that part :)

Okay, you mentioned the "DDA" thread. What's DDA?

yellowfish78
07-02-2007, 10:39 PM
Disney Design Addicts. We are a bunch of crazy ladies (and a few men) that started off making T-Shirt designs for Disney and ended up being like a second family. (One just gave birth today!) It's over on the Creative DISigns Thread.
No worries about scaring me off! You'll have to definately figure out what stateroom you have - so I can move! :rotfl: JK!!!
Apparently seating is staggered because of the three restaurants...so there is a 8pm, 8:15pm and an 8:30pm depending on which dining rotation you have. Somewhere on the cruise thread it'll mention what rotation goes where depending on what times and restaurant you have...I know 1/2 hour doesn't make much of a difference, all I want is good food! :rotfl:
I'm excited too! I love that "register your cruise" site - I wish more people would use it! especially since the search function isn't working well - I couldn't PM you - so I used your email! Worked fine I guess!
Have you thought of shore excursions?? I think we are planning on doing horseback riding on Nassau (not a Disney sponsored excursion) and kayaking on Castaway Cay.

sandybobandy
07-02-2007, 10:44 PM
Haha! Although, I suppose it could be awkward since we're both there for ummmmmmm romantic celebrations. lol Just kidding!!!!

Gosh, we haven't thought about shore excursions much at all. We're trying not to plan too much so far in advance because if it were up to me I would have everything set and then we'd have nothing left to plan next year! So we're trying to hold off. It's not going well so far-I am on that castaway cay website all the time!

I'm going to bed now. It was so nice to "meet" you. I think we'll have fun over the next year :)

yellowfish78
07-02-2007, 10:47 PM
What?! You're not an obsessive planner??!! :rotfl:
It's only a year and 2 months away!!! Let's see how many more people will join by then!
Have a great night!

sandybobandy
07-02-2007, 10:49 PM
OMG-dont' get me wrong. I'm terribly obsessive. Girl, I started packin already! lol!

Talk to you later! :)

Good morning Chanon!

Yesterday morning I decorated a Folgers coffee container with Disney scrapbooking paper to use as a piggy bank for our trip. :) I'll have to take a picture and upload it. It's so cute! lol

Hope you have a great day today! :)

You know those massive jars of pretzels you can buy from Sams Club or Costo?? They look like a big barrel? :teeth: That's my change jar! :rotfl:
It looks like I'll just miss you this year too! We check in on the 17th..

sandybobandy
07-03-2007, 09:32 AM
Hahahahaa! Oh no you didn't! That's hilarious. :)

Aw shucks, that's right! You'll be there a little after us.

Are you having your wedding at Disney too?

yellowfish78
07-03-2007, 11:40 AM
Nope - the grandparents would kill us. We are doing the church wedding here with a reception at a nearby hotel. Everything is done with wedding details, except dress and flowers. And favors. I keep changing favor ideas. Go figure!

sandybobandy
07-03-2007, 11:48 AM
Ahhh I see :) We never even considered getting married at Disney because we knew we couldn't afford it. But we did splurge (a lot) on our Disneymoon...now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure our Disneymoon cost more than the wedding itself. Totally worth it :)

Do you have anything Disney themed in your wedding? Our invites had the wedding Mickey and Minnie on them and our cake topper was wedding Mickey and Minnie. I wish I had done more but my love for Disney hadn't quite peaked yet. lol

I'm off to work. My last day! I got a job at Balou's (our 2 year old cocker spaniel) doggy daycare. I'm soooo excited :)

yellowfish78
07-03-2007, 12:29 PM
Just some small touches. Our cake topper is Mickey and Minnie in a car, and we are dancing to "You Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story. Background music during dinner is just some Disney instramental from Jim Brickman. (I think that's his name!)

Are you offically doing a land and sea package or is it separate? I stayed at the AKL in 2006 and loved it, and that was only for one night!

sandybobandy
07-03-2007, 10:45 PM
Hey lady! How was your day today?

Today was my LAST day at my job. So excited. lol

So is You Got A Friend In Me your first dance?? :) Cute! I wish we had more Disney in our wedding. We've agreed that whenever we have kids we're going to do a Disney nursery theme. I love the baby Mickey and Friends! :)

Nope, we're doing a separate package. Not only is it less expensive, I'm apparently a bit...what's the word...possessive of my Disney vacations. lol So we're booking separately.

Do you guys have plans for the 4th? We're just sticking close to home I think...nothing too exciting!

My cousin was one of the lucky ones that got married on 07/07/07, so I spent the 4th through yesterday with her. I was the maid of honor, so going down early was a necessity - and the wedding was wonderful! Only problems were with the bar at the reception - they closed it early! (new night manager trying to control everything!) I'll try to upload pictures soon to show everyone - even though I didn't take much! Everything was so crazy on wedding day that I didn't get a chance to take much!
I know what you mean about controlling everything - I don't like land and sea packages because you can't yet buy the dining plan for the land portion! I really hope they change that!

Hey Chanon! Nice to "see" you! :)

Last night Joe and I watched Toy Story as part of our Disney '07 movie countdown. We're at 79 days! :)

Oh-there's another Disser that'll be traveling with us. I let her know we're here and hope she posts! :)

heatherplus3
07-09-2007, 05:18 PM
We are booked! The whole family is going, me (29), dh (28), ds (5), and dd (2) We are in the first dining, and we are riding in style in Cat 3. Unfortunatly, we will be living in poverty, surviving off top ramen for the next 453 days. It's our first cruise disney cruise and I am beyond excited!!

sandybobandy
07-09-2007, 05:21 PM
lol-Hey Heather! :) Cat 3? WOW! That's super exciting. Through this thread, Chanon and I realized we are booked right next to eachother. Isn't that crazy?

Glad to see you here-it's my (and Joe's) first cruise too. :)

heatherplus3
07-09-2007, 05:27 PM
that's wild about you and Channon!! We are in 8048. I am so excited about the cruise and although my husband loves disney, I think he is growing tired hearing my obsessing over every detail. :rotfl2: So glad I found this forum so we all can obsess together!!

sandybobandy
07-09-2007, 05:31 PM
Oh my gosh yes. From what I gather from Chanon, she's quite a planner, just like myself. We're going to be quite the trio for the next year! :)

Are you guys staying on property before or after the cruise? We *were* planning on staying AKL Savannah view prior to the cruise but I am pretty sure we'll downgrade ourselves to POFQ-we loooove that resort.

Just notice you're a new Dis'er and have 5 posts. I can only imagine how many posts you'll have by cruise time! lol!!

heatherplus3
07-09-2007, 05:42 PM
I've been a long time lurker and finally took the plunge!! I had to lol when I saw you say you are possessive of your disney plans, I am totally with you. I will have every minute worked out by Oct. Thank goodness dh is a go with the flow kinda guy! We are going to stay at WDW after the cruise. It seems like most people advise against this but it works out for husbands schedule better that way. We haven't booked hotel yet, any advice on what hotel and when to book for best deal is appreciated. We haven't been to WDW since we were children, but go to DL a few times a year. (Live in AZ) We were looking at poly but it is really expensive. We can only do 3 days in wdw and want to make the most of it in the most *magical* environment. :wizard:

sandybobandy
07-09-2007, 05:46 PM
So glad you came out of lurkerdom! We're gonna have fun planning :)

Joe is a pretty easy going guy too. He knows not to mess with Disney plans. While his suggestions and ideas are welcome, he knows I'll plan what's best for us. lol

We'll keep our eyes out for fall discounts for next year. They probably won't come out til this time next year but we'll all be looking for them together. :)

I love to plan everything super far ahead but I'm trying not to plan too much for the cruise until we're at least home from this year's Disney trip. Haha! I want to start looking at excursions and spas but then I wouldn't have anything left to plan next year!

Have you seen some of the navigators from other people's cruise? There is SO much going on board! I have to admit-I'm pretty excited about bingo! Hahaha!

yellowfish78
07-10-2007, 03:29 PM
Hi Ladies! Welcome Heather! I *love* the Cat 3's! They are so beautiful inside! And definately take advantage of the concierge! (I guess at least one of us isn't going to be up at 3am booking shore excursions because of that! :rotfl: )
Heather - I'd definately stay near the MK because of the age of your kids...you'll be spending most of your time there and might as well stay close! Keep an eye out for discounts at the Poly!
Sandy - I've already looked at shore excursions on my end! But that's also because I've resistered online for Disney's Honeymoon Registry! I'm hoping for some good money to be added to that to pay for all the onboard things we want! (Especially the coffee from Cove Cafe! Room service isn't gonna cut it for me!)

Hey guys! I hope you don't mind me picking your brains for your expertise on WDW. We are DL junkies but haven't been to WDW in decades. We think we have the WDW hotel narrowed down to Poly or Wilderness Lodge. Anybody have any pros or cons to either? (Besides the enormous price tag!!! :sad2: ) That's pretty much our running theme for this trip, but we don't get out to FL often and want to make the most of it!! We are hoping to be able to see the fireworks from the beach at poly but I don't know if that's a possibility from WL? We were also thinking about doing the illuminations cruise, any ideas/thoughts/advice on that? Last question, we were thinking about doing the historic nassau excursion but weren't sure if our kids would like it, have you guys heard much about that one? Thanks a million!:flower3:

I like them both - it just kind of depends on your mood. Poly is spread out in different buildings; WL is in one and everything is contained. Poly has larger rooms IMO, but they might be the same size officially. I think you'd see more from the Poly than WL compared to fireworks and the Electric Water Parade - I think you can only see fireworks from some of the balcony rooms at WL. Illuminations cruise is fun, but not worth the $ (to me at least).
No idea on the Nassau shore excursions either...
I might consider trying to find a group going the same dates you are and seeing if anyone wants to do a GG with you. Then you can do the Fireworks Voyage (thus seeing the EWP and Wishes from the lagoon) AND you can do the Illuminations Dinner/Dessert Reception (which gives you a great spot to watch Illuminations from)!
...but that's just me and my opinion. :teeth: No matter what you decide I'm sure it'll be a WONDERful vacation!!!

Hey ladies!

Chanon-I thought about registering for the Disney Honeymoon thingie for my birthday! LOL! I didn't though, realizing nobody would even consider looking at it let alone buy anything. That's alright though. Hope you get some good stuff!!! :)

Heather-Sorry, I'm afraid we haven't stayed at either the Poly or WL. Recent reviews on the resorts board have been SUPER favorable of WL though. But yeah...that's about all the help I can give.

Have a great afternoon/evening cruise buddies! (lol-that's so cheesy)

Sandy:)

Thanks for the info Channon- I think the WL vs Poly question is going to come down to if the price difference is huge- then we'll probably go WL and save the extra $$ for other fun stuff. I am not sure what we will do about fireworks/illuminations, we are there such a short time... We'll see, I have a long time before I have to seriously consider that! I am so ridiculous excited guys!! Today on travel channel they had a best cruises show that included the Wonder. I was all giddy like a kid. I'm glad my husband was at work because he would be teasing me all night!:rotfl:

I'm still waiting for the honeymoon card to come in the mail so I can link it to my wedding website. The card looks awesome from the pictures I've seen from it!
Bob and I are only doing horseback riding on Nassau. I hate to say it, but we really aren't "beach" people - we'd rather be doing something than sitting on a beach or visit Atlantis. I'd love to go "see" Nassau, but I think we'll enjoy our time on the ship and possibly see a movie. Or order room service and get fat. Or do brunch at Palo. :teeth: Too many choices!

Sandy- oh yeah, i've checked out *****************, like I said just slightly ocd!!:rotfl2: I am struggling now with trying to decide whether or not to let go on my ninja grip on our ressies and turn it over to a TA, we could get a $50 stateroom credit and she could help me with the wdw room situation. I feel so lost about everything with wdw and maybe she could help and find the best rates.

Channon- Such a cute sign!! We took a cruise for our honeymoon (not a dcl you lucky dog!!) and it was so relaxing after the controlled chaos of the wedding! I'm sure you will enjoy the time to relax with your new hubby, we thought it was the PERFECT start to our married life.

sandybobandy
07-12-2007, 06:58 PM
OMG Chanon how cute!!!! And I'll be able to see it EVERYDAY! lol How fun! Are you going to put a magnetic back on it? Hmmm...maybe I'll have to come up with some kind of sign...we'll see!

Heather-Okay, honestly? I couldn't imagine not being able to call DCL at the drop of a hat to change or add or take off something. From what I understand, once a TA is in the picture, they take over all control. I am not sure that's worth $50. And you KNOW Chanon and I are going to be searching high and low for discounts so if something comes up, you guys will be the first to know! Keep us posted and let us know what you decide!

have a great night!!

Sandy :)

heatherplus3
07-12-2007, 07:36 PM
I think I am going to hold off on the TA, I guess I feel out of the WDW loop and am worried I will miss a good deal on the hotel! But yeah, I think it will freak me out not being able to call DCL when I want. You are going to laugh at me but I am considering the whole matching outfit thing!! They have hawaiian print button down shirts and dresses on disneyshopping.com. Of course the kids 6 and 3 will look cute, but dh will think I've lost my mind. I'm sure it would be cute in photos. But would it look dorky on a 30 yo??!! :lmao: I think I know the answer!

yellowfish78
07-13-2007, 07:14 AM
Have you guys found the magnetic door sign thread yet? And don't forget to head over to the DISigns Thread too to get cruise ideas. It's really easy to make your own shirts with iron on transfers (and they are so cheap and easy to do!) Just explore it and you'll find ALOT of designs to pic from. They'll even customize too. Just remember that everything has to be magnetic for the door - they don't allow tape anymore due to damage.

No, matching shirts won't look dorky on a 30 year old. :teeth: The day after I got engaged at the MK, I wore a shirt that had Tigger on it and it said "Bob's Girl" that one of the girls from the DISign boards made for me. (My fiance is Bob!) You'd be suprised at how many great comments we got! We walked through the turnstyles at EPCOT and everyone said "Hi Bob!" and "Hi Bob's Girl!" It was hilarous because he hates attention!

Personalized/matching outfits be great for the first picture that you get right before you get on the cruise!

...and be nice to TA's on this thread! :rolleyes1 I understand the control issue that a lot of people have - but some TA's are wonderful!

heatherplus3
07-13-2007, 10:55 AM
Thanks for the encouragement! DH thinks I have gone mad with the DCL fever!! Although, with such little kids I think they will love dressing up alike, and that's good enough reason for me! I have no problem with TA's at all, I have never had a bad experience or anything. It is more of a not being in control issue with me.....it's quite ridiculous actually! Dh wants a TA who can help us with making the most of our limited time in WDW and give us some guidance, so we'll see what we end up doing. I wish I knew someone personally instead of getting a random TA. Anywho, I have seen the magnetic door sign thread and am so inspired! I am really into scrapbooking, so I am all over the door signs!! Have a good day girls!!

Hey guys!

Heather-I'm no WDW expert by any means but having gone a good handful of times, I'm sure between Chanon and I we can help you out almost as much as a TA could. I swear! :)

I've never been on TGM's website. Was deliberating trying it out for our upcoming trip but with the mixture of low crowds and having so little waits in the past years, we're going to skip it.

Hope you guys have a great weekend!!!
Sandy :)

I'm off to (yet another!) wedding today so I won't be around much either! LAST WEDDING OF THE YEAR! At least of my friends! :rotfl: I wanna get started on mine!

Well, I'm off the "cruise planning" box for a while and currently working on limos, florists and my dress. I think I'd rather be planning my cruise. I'm shocked at the cost of a limo for 4 hours! One is $800! :scared:

I know! It's seriously nuts, everything involved with a wedding automatically triples what you think it would cost! It's crazy! Glad you survived "wedding season", it will be so exciting next year when it's you! :bride:

Hey guys! Hope you're well!

Am really way too excited for this year's trip. It's all I can think about! Just wait til after this trip....then it's going to be allllll about the cruise! Can't wait.

Planning my wedding was really so much fun. Sounds like things are going great, Chanon! Our limo was around the same cost. Crazy, but soooo worth it.

Have a great night!

Okay Chanon, I know you're off the cruise soap box, but was hoping I could ask you something-have you ever added the Romance Escape At Sea package? I'm hoping to add it once it's available to book for next year but was hoping maybe you could tell me about it.

Thanks-have a great night! :)

Oh hey Heather! It bothers me that I don't always get thread notifications to my email. Drives me NUTS!

Anyway, no...haven't made any cruise preparations lately. I'm dying to start researching excursion stuff but ya know what? Honestly, I really don't know what type of excursions we're going to do...if any. Something tells me we'll be just as content staying on the ship.

What about you? Any new plans? :)

yellowfish78
07-18-2007, 05:38 PM
Nope no new plans for me! Yet! Just still working on some door signs. Playing with ideas/clipart. Waiting for the Oct 08 football game schedule before I plan something for Bob - poor thing might miss a game! :rotfl:

No idea on what 08 will be for the Romance at Sea, but do you have the 07 info? It's stayed the same for 06 to 07; the price might be higher. And you should be able to add it now. Let me go find the info on that just in case...

Here's the "Honeymoon at Sea" package:
On board, you'll receive:
Romantic gift amenity delivered to your stateroom (one per package)
Tropical Rain Forest pass for two at the Vista Spa & Salon (length of cruise)
Priority Seating at Palo with a bottle of wine from the Premium Wine List (one night)
Romance turndown service (one night)
Champagne breakfast in bed (one morning)*
*Guests must be 21 years or older. For guests not 21 years of age, a non-alcoholic alternative is provided
$1,237

yellowfish78

I couldn't find anything on the Romance at Sea package. And I think you have to call to add the either of these - I don't think it's bookable online...

Hey girls! Our new thing is we switched cabins from 8048 to 8034 (one of the midship triple wide ones). The mid ship cat 3 are supposed to go quick but luckily there was still one left. :cool1: We were thinking about doing the historic nassau excursion but everyone said it was pretty much a bust. I think we'll stay on the ship in Nassau and do some fun stuff in CC. Can you tell I am obsessing?!! We are also trying to decide about Cinderella's Royal Table in MK. Our kids will be 6 and 3, but I don't know if it's worth 2 TS credits on the dining plan. The ambience looks awesome but I don't know if the kids would be about the food. We could do 2 charcter meals instead. Hmmm What to do... :confused3 Have a good day!!

sandybobandy
07-19-2007, 05:13 PM
Hi Heather! We're considering staying onboard during Nassau too. Nothing has really jumped out at me. We'll likely explore CC but the other stuff, I'm not sure about.

We've never done CRT but I've heard tons of good things about it. Then again, if you do say...Chef Mickey's and Liberty Tree on a MNSSHP night, that would be a ton of fun too. I'd more lean towards the character meals but that's because the Princesses don't do much for me.

I'm off to fix dinner-have a good night!

yellowfish78
07-19-2007, 07:22 PM
I agree! Skip Cinderella's Royal Table. If you really wanna see Cindy, head over to 1900 Park Fare for dinner. Better food and you get to see Prince Charming! :teeth:
The only thing Bob and I are going to do on Nassau is horseback riding - and that starts at 9 and is over by 11:30a. Enough time for a late lunch at Palo!
Heather - glad you got the new room! I was gonna ask you about your room - wondering if you had a master with a murphy bed or if you got one of the lucky rooms. Looks like you lucked out!

Good morning! Hope you guys are having a great weekend!

Joe and I bought a new camera last night for our trip this year. It's reallllly cool and much needed upgrade from what we originally had. Can't wait to take some pics this year-we only have 66 days to go! I can't wait. I really can't. It's alllll I think about. Planning the cruise after this trip is going to be a ton of fun too.

I checked out the thread of dissers that are cruisng this year (10/20 I think) and they booked all their excursions this morning at 3am. They're all so excited it's cute. lol It'll be fun when it's us able to book our fun stuff! :)

Have a great Sunday!

It's totally different that what I expected to buy. I fell in love with this one dress that has lace in three tiers, but then I tried on this one and it felt right. I like the traditional look of the front, but wasn't fond of the pick up detail in the train. But then they bussled it, and I just knew. The seamstress picked up two of the apliques and brought them all the way up to my hips (not halfway up like I've normally seen) and the back just looked awesome!

That's funny, Sandy. We have 65 days til disneyland. We take the kids every year for the mickey's halloween treat. DS (5) is going to be Jack Sparrow! The costume with the wig and hat and accessories will end up being like $70! But it will be so worth it, I'm sure it will be the cutest sight ever! :rotfl2: My new cruise news is my in-laws want to go as well. Which is awesome, they are great and hubby and I can do palo and stuff! So we are excited about that and the kids know that means twice the souvenirs! pirate: Hope you all have a great week!

You better post pictures! That's great about the inlaws! Are they going to be joining your suite or getting their own?

I've still been playing with DISigns for the door - I'm forcing myself to stop at 4! Currently at 2, but working on our Pirate Night door sign!

The future in laws are coming in on Tuesday, so I'm off to clean the house! Have a great rest of the week! It's halfway over!

Is it full day school for him? My friend's child starts this year too - and she's concerned on how her 3 year old will do with him gone. How are *you* handling it??

Hopefully we are on the earliest of the second dining...last cruise was the absolute latest dining possible - and we missed most of the Pirate Night Party! We almost missed the fireworks!

Yeah, Carter's Kindergarten is full day. I hated the idea of it when I first heard, but by the end of the summer (and endless cries of I'm Bored!) I think it is good. Madeline (DD) is 2 and I was really worried about her being upset with brother gone, but I actually think she likes having all mommy's attention. Carter gets home at 2 so he still has most of the afternoon to be annoyed by sis. Seems to be working out well. I was a sad the first week of school, but I'm getting used to it. They grow up so fast!!

We will be joining you. It will be myself, DH, DS ( 8 yo at time of cruise) and maybe a DD. :cutie: (Adoption waiting list)
We celebrated our 16th anniversary last month :cloud9: so we probably have a few years on you ladies. However, that does not stop me from being an obsessive planner.
We had planned to cruise this October but decided to postpone for another year and include some MNSSHP time. :woohoo: We always get a cat 9 cabin as we usually don't spend a lot of time in our room. We have main dining.
I will be checking in frequently to say hello.

Hi you guys!

I've been MIA for at least a month-my bad!!!!

Joe and I are in talks if we can still cruise next year or not. I basically accepted a new job-my "dream job" and have taken a very big pay cut that may not allow us to cruise next year. So I've totally withdrawn myself from anything cruising-including our thread :(

Anyway, I'm going to go on the assumption we are STILL cruising so I'll try to post more often.

Heather-the SS Cutie shirt sounds soooooo adorable. Aww!

I agree with what Heather says! If it's in the stars - I'd still try to do the cruise. CONGRATS!!! BTW - what are you doing now??
Any "extra" money that I earn at work (overtime, paid mileage, bonuses) goes to the trip in October, and after that, it'll all go towards the honeymoon. Currently I'm working EVERY Saturday in September (and a Friday here and there at another office, so that's paid mileage for me too!) so I'm looking forward to that extra 4 hours on each check and the mileage money for the F&WF booths!
The fish extenders look really neat. I'm amazed at what people think of to bring more magic to a vacation.

Hello Ladies,
I am enjoying my last Friday off for a while and what could be more enjoyable than the DISboards. :surfweb:

Sandy - I am so glad that you now have your dream job but I am sad to hear it may prevent you from cruising. I hope everything works out.

Chanon - I did see the fish extender thread. They are very cute and I am thinking about trying it. However, on such a short cruise, I don't know that it would be that useful. It would make the door look nice.

Heather - Great shopping. I would love to do that too. My 7 yo DS grows so fast, I have no idea what size he will be wearing by cruise time. He is taller than the 8 year olds in his class. Of course, I don't know what size DD will be or if she will even be a part of our family by cruise time.

Are any of you going to WDW before the cruise? We have not decided yet if we will stay at WDW the night before the cruise or if we will just go to the port. I guess that depends on the MNSSHP schedule.

Back to the chores. I hear the laundry calling my name. :laundy:

I got mine before my last DCL trip in 2006. It was so weird to see it come in a plain envelope in the mail! Being so close to the Canadian border (and for work reasons) it seemed best to get it when I did.

That reminds me, we have done the 3 night and the 7 night. This is our first 4 night. Is there anything exciting and special about the 4 night cruise that I may not know about? We have never eaten at Palo. We are thinking aabout doing a brunch. We still have plenty of time to think about that but as you know I like to plan early.

No idea. I've done the three night - and even then it was work related so I think I've never really "cruised" with Disney. I know the sea day we can do Palo - and that getting brunch is like the hardest thing to do, but dinner is an option for us too. I'd like to find out a way of finding my dining rotation so I can do Palo on the night that our dinner is a dupilcate. I've also never eaten breakfast in a main dining room either, so I'm looking forward to that. (Weird, I know!)

Both dresses are very pretty and the ladies look lovely in both.

Thanks for the opinion! The girls ended up going with the solid colored dress. After many opinions, a lot of people ended up thinking that one of the girls looked "cut in half" with the dress that had the brocade waist.

WOW! That is some price. Too rich for me.
Too many other Disney related things to spend that money on rather than transportation.

I went to my dentist office yesterday for my cleaning. The dentist is out of the office for the week. Guess where he is? Yes, he is on a Disney cruise. DH and I have been talking up the Disney cruise and WDW everytime we go to the office. One of the nurses did her first WDW trip last year & wants to do the cruise as well.

We are good for Disney's bottom line.

I think I'll be booking through ****** or Tiffany in the upcoming months. I still might do the limo service from the airport to pier and pier to UO hotel, and then probably just a towncar back to the airport. Given that DH2B wants to leave right away (even if I don't GRRR) I'm always afraid of missing the boat because I'm not booking airfare or transfers through the cruise line...especially in October.

If you think the limo is expensive, Disney is quoting me $425 PER PERSON for airfare. Plus another $50 for deviation to get the flights I want. I think I'll be booking on my own for that one too...

Hey guys! Long time, no talk!! Sorry! We just got back from our DL trip, it was great. :cool1: We did the Mickey's halloween treat and Fantasmic premium viewing, both of which were awesome. We were there for 5 days and the longest wait we had was 30 minutes for the finding nemo subs, so that always makes the trip more enjoyable!! We usually have AP's and go to DL a few times a year, but this was our last trip until after the cruise. :sad2: Our AP's expire in March, so we may squeeze in a quick weekend cheap trip in February, but I doubt it. We are in full cruise savings mode! Not renewing the AP's in 2008 will save us about $1000, so that's a big chunk to go towards the cruise! Now I can turn my full disney obsession towards the cruise....:rotfl2: Have a good week everyone!

We did the 4 night DVC Member Cruise. Lots of great people on board. Wonderful entertainment. We had a cat 6 room on Deck 6. Main dining. We really liked the set up. This time we're closer to the back (AFT). We are saving telling our girls until Christmas. Should make it more fun. Also we were part of a Fish Extender list so that added alot more fun. 342 days and counting.

gamomof2 ................ we bought into Saratoga springs.
We had the option of buying into The new animal Kingdom villas but opted for STS becuz it was $2000 les nad only 3 less years!
i dont think it will matter when we are.........85 years old if we dont have the 3 extra years!

What is your HOME RSORT?
have you ever stayed at VERO BEACh..........we are so close we were looking at that one is it hard to book these as they are so popular??

we own points at SSR and AKV. we've not stayed at Vero or HH yet. Hopefully in the future though. Our youngest DD is a big animal nut so we bought the AKV more for her. When they announce CRV we'll buy some there too for our oldest DD. She loves the CR.

So , i have to assume that you REALLY think it is HIGH VALUE!

I mean with all you have purchased and plan on more, you must Really like it.

I was a bit shocked to have to pay a "booking fee" for the cruise.

When you cruise do you purchase the insurance? Even if you use points?

If there is bad weather and they cannot cruise, do you loose your points?

i am sure i will be full of questions a botu this DVC thing.....it really has me bafulled!

Have a good evening!
DIZZI:)

gamomof2
11-06-2007, 09:38 PM
we didn't purchase the insurance on the first one and have chosen not to on this one. The booking fee is to cover administrative costs between the two companies. DVC and DCL operate seperately. Have seperate staffs that have to take the time to talk to each other and exchange points for dollar value and complete paperwork. The fee is actually less than an external exchange fee we pay with our non-DVC time share ($149). DVC means quality to us. We're certain of the accomodations, of the value and of the expectations. It's worth investing in with us.

We're good. Had a great Christmas. Took the red Mickey suitcases that were given out on the member cruise and left the stuffed Mickey's in them. Put a water tight keyholder (the lanyard kind) in them and put them under the tree. THe girls took several minutes to figure out just where their room keys would get so wet but in the end they guessed it was a cruise.

We are staying at AKV in April and SSR in June so two Mickey trips before the cruise. October can't get here soon enough.

Our next decision is whether or not we're going to come down to stay before the cruise or after - or both.

:dance3: Chanon, great news about the wedding bands.

Think about how skinny and cute all of us will be by October. I am starting my third week of training to walk a 1/2 marathon at the end of April with several of my co-worker and corporate colleagues. :jumping1: :jumping1:
I am having a great time training so far. I just hope I can walk 13.1 miles in 4 hours. I have lost a couple of pounds already and I have not changed my eating habits at all.

By the way, :yay: DS turned 8 yo last Saturday. We had a cool birthday party. I was a Mad Scientist party. We had cool experiments and slime birthday cake. :scared1: DH, the green haired mad scientist had to sneak in some education while he was doing the experiments. I think we've decided to do the Martini tasting and Palo's again. I just wish I knew what our dining rotation was. Last year we lucked out that our Palo reservation was on our repeat Triton night. So we still were able to enjoy all 3 restaurants and Palo.

Also I think we're going to spend the Thursday night we get back at AKV conceirge.

I don't know if we should do Palo. I think I'm leaning more toward brunch - I don't think that he'd enjoy it....he's not the foody type...

I think we'll wait a few more years till we do the safari. Palo's was really nice. DH isn't into any type of food inparticular and definitely isn't into dressing up. But he liked the hype of Palo and watching people come in all dressed up and how quiet the atmosphere was. He enjoyed our server recommending things and even tried a new beer with his meal. She recommended it and he just went with what she said. Turned out well. He wants to go back this time again for dinner.

Hi everyone!
We just booked our:banana: first cruise for October 5th too. I booked a Cat 8 on Deck 6 since I don't think I want a veranda with DS3. It will our First Disney cruise. it will be me (DW), DH, DD7 and DS3, they will be 8 and 4 by time the cruise gets here. I have cruised before without kids on RCL like 9 years ago.

I see a couple of you will be honeymooning on this cruise, congrats to you. Anyone have kids too? We are very excited about the cruise. We go to Disney at least every year and usually stay at Poly or WL which are our favorite resorts. This year we will be trying the cruise because DH and I are parked out. We plan to stay at one of the hotels near the Port the night before the cruise and might stay at a Disney resort the day after or maybe go to Sea world.

I have main seating for dinner and we plan to book Palo for dinner. I sure hope DS likes the kids club and will at least go there for and hour a day to give us a tiny break. He will be starting preschool this fall so that will help. He is rather attached to us of course. My DD was so different at his age much more open to new places and things. Not sure what shore excursions we are booking. We might do the Dolphin encounter in Nassau or just take a cab to Wyndham and buy the day passes for the beach and pool. Have fun planning everyone.

You are going to love:cloud9: WL!! We have stayed there twice before and thought of going there for a week in November, but we decided to try the cruise instead. We ate at Artist point back in 2002 and it was excellent. Even our DD who was 2 at the time loved it. Make sure it's noted on your reservation that it is your on your honeymoon. The last few trips we have only gone to Whispering Canyon because it's fun for the kids though the food is not quite as good. I'm sure you will have and amazing honeymoon.

I spoke to my TA today and we have the main dinner seating.:goodvibes

Actually, we started out booking on the Magic for one of the 7 night Mexican Riviera cruises in June with a bunch of friends. However, they all started to pull out due to various conflicts and committments, so we decided to switch to a 4 night Bahama cruise instead. We weighed the costs between 4 night DL/7 night cruise versus 7 night WDW/4 night cruise - including the airfare for the four of us from Hawaii - and it came out to be almost $500 cheaper to go to do WDW and this cruise... Go figure. :confused3

Anyways, I definitely like this option better. I  WDW in Oct. - with Food & Wine and MNSSHP - what could be better...:thumbsup2

DH was one of four winners of the Disney Cruise Line House Party Guests & Friends Sweepstakes. I hosted the party and didn't win one of the two host cruises that were given away but DH was a lucky winner as a guest! It was quite a surprise.

The prize consisted of a 4-night category 9 cruise along with transportation and airfare for up to four people. We were able to upgrade to a category 8 for a small fee. We will be on deck 6 (6014 for us and 6015 for our friends). We have cruised twice before through DCL and are excited to share this trip with friends who are more like family.

:guilty: DD18princess::guilty: is trying to lay the guilt trip on! She keeps bringing up the trips we have taken without her.:rolleyes1 Then she really got me by complaining we only take her to DisneyWorld.

18 is a very hard age for parents. Especially when said child hooks herself up with a prep school guy who will be off on his second overseas vacation this year.

I think I will really need this cruise:yay:

Hahaha! My DS told me he is Disney'd out because that's the only place we ever went on vacations! DH asked what about Colorado, Waterville Valley and White Mountains in NH or Burlington, VT and Portland, ME. Oh wait a minute :rotfl: Portland and Burlington were for hockey tournaments.

I totally agree about the age. I worried more when DS went away to Philadelphia for college than I ever did when he was in HS. Just remember, there are worse places that you can take your children than Disney World! :mickeyjum

I feel funny planning for a single day in October :lmao: but it beats thinking about work! So far, I think I will take my wife on a selfguided tour doing the following:

1. Walking Tour of Nassau
2. take a local bus to Adastra Gardens or check out the British Colonial Hilton.

Anyone else with plans??

Hi Bob! We are planning on doing horseback riding with http://www.windsorequestriancentre.com in Nassau. They are the only place that does horseback riding, seem to have good reviews on some other cruise boards and it fits in good for time too - I beleive they pick you up at 10:45 and we should be back by 2:15. Other than that, I don't think we'll be doing much in Nassau, but have heard that the Gardens are wonderful!

Well were planning on going to MNSSHP on October 9th. But I just canceled :sad1: our cruise. I think DS3 is too small to apprecaite it and I know he won't stay in kids club so we can even have dinner one night. So we will be waiting to next year when he is older and more mature. We do plan on going to Disney in October and staying at WL for a week instead. I was really looking forward to the cruise and so was DH.

My DW and I will be celebrating our 33 wedding anniversary with our sixth “Wonder”ful cruise and then we’re back to the park for a few days. We’ll be using our DVC points for both the cruise and the stay at the park.

Now the waiting begins…

Annemarie - I thought I saw a post on the cruise board (maybe two or three pages in) about the Atlantis offering rooms for $119...Might want to check that out! (Or was it the Wyndham??)

Nice to be back on the boards. It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. As you can see by my avatar I’ve been around here since 1999.
My DW and I did our first cruise back in 2000. It was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I remember, for dinner, we were seated with three other couples. Two of the couples were newly weds and the other couple were around our age, (mega-deep old!)”. The conversations at dinner were fun with us “older and wiser” veterans doing our best to explain to the youngsters the ups and downs of being together for the rest of their lives. Our conversations would have made a great skit for Saturday Night Live...

My DW and I hope to meet all of you come October.

We've booked our 1st cruise for Oct. 5 in category 11 with main dining. We'll have 2 DDs with us. They're 10 and 12. Actually, the 12 yo turns 13 on the 3rd day of the cruise and the 10 yo turns 11 the week after while we're at our DVC home (BWV) at WDW.

How many people do they usually seat together? Should we expect to be with one other family?

Looking forward to watching this thread from now on...I don't think I can go back and read all of the previous pages after reading 29 on the "tips" thread yesterday and today. :scared1:

Lora,

The most people that will be seated at a table would be eight. You could be seated with another family of four. As far as I know you can still request that your family be seated at there own table if you so wished.

During our past Disney cruises, this will be our sixth, my DW and I have had the chance to met some very nice people at dinner.

P.S. Make sure you tell DCL about your DD's birthdays.... they may get a surprise. Also, we'll be heading back to the park after the cruise. We are also DVC members and our home-away-from-home is also the BWV.

I'm actually looking forward to having dinners with another family. We get plenty of family time on our trips. I do enjoy meeting other people and this sounds like a fun way to do that.

I'll definitely include the birthday in the info. We've been to WDW a few times for their birthdays and it's always been special for them. You never know what to expect.

Hi Lora! Welcome aboard!

I can't believe that the cruise is almost here!

:rotfl: Since we just booked recently, I haven't had to wait as long!! We always book our next DVC stay around the same time of year as our trip (Sept/Oct), and then I don't think too much about it until the 6 or 7 month mark comes around. We had the idea of a cruise on the back burner for a while, but it took DH several months to come around. I think he's worried about getting sea sick!

I should have mentioned that DH is going with us ;) if you want to include him in the first post.

I've been preparing by reading lots of posts and trip reports. I actually bought my clear over-the-door shoe holder at Target the other day. :thumbsup2

How much luggage is allowed on the cruise? We have several nights after the cruise at BWV and we normally take a LOT of stuff for meals, etc. in the 1BR. I'll feel a bit silly coming on board with luggage for 2 weeks when the cruise is only 4 nights!

What you don't want to leave him at home? :teeth:

I know what you mean about so much luggage! We'll be on land for 10 days after the cruise! :scared:

You can bring as much luggage as you want too - but remember the guidlines if you're flying. Most airlines have decreased their luggage allowance to 1 checked bag, with a second bag costing anywhere from $10 to $25 PER bag, PER leg. (For example with us, we are flying CO - but are granfathered in luckly - if we wern't, we'd have to pay at least $50 down AND $50 back for our second bags!) :faint:

There is room in the cabin closet for two smaller bags on the right side of the closet and two larger bags on the left (depending on how much you hang up and how long they are) and you can fit at least two larger suitcases under your bed so I wouldn't worry about that. I think they let you take what you want...but like you to stay around two bags per person.

I have yet to buy our over the door - but am trying to pack light too. There are only two of us, so we may not need that shoe organizer...I do plan on doing laundry - but am debating on doing it on the ship or at the hotel when we are back on land...

Nothing received here yet. Maybe tomorrow. We cancelled the special 5-night cruise the other day. Since that one was in September and DH won this, it didn't make sense (financially or time-wise) to go on both. This cruise should be a lot of fun!

The package arrived today. I noticed different gifts too. I wonder if that's the reason for the order form or perhaps you can call DCL and place your order using the item numbers listed in the information packet.

While our cruise may still be months away, I am still getting excited again! :cool1: My only issue is that I am a planner but unfortunately since Disney is paying for this trip, I won't be able to find out our flight information until September and that's going to drive me crazy! :sad2: I like to know everything: my state room assignment, have all the hotel reservations made for prior to and after the cruise, air fare, limo service, etc. all set as far in advance as possible. I'm sure I'm not the only person who is like this. Come on . . . you can admit it! :goodvibes

yellowfish78
05-17-2008, 07:20 AM
I think if we are on the boards then we are all OCD with Disney planning. :teeth:
We bought our airfare in January. I couldn't justify $450pp PLUS another $50 for deviation from our home airport knowing we might get connecting in hurricane season, let alone knowing that our nonstops that we wanted to fly were only $250. We ended up doing airfare seperate. Hopefully we won't run into any problems, especially since we can't leave a day early to make sure we get there.

We also picked our stateroom - I wanted to be sure we are on Deck 6 instead of 5...

I'll start being OCD again when I have to pack a suitcase for 14 days worth of travels. :headache:

Has anyone noticed if Disney offered a chocolate cake anywhere as a stateroom gift?

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Hi everyone. I am Patty. I am sailing on this cruise with you. Joining me will be DS (Sean) 11, DD (Dani) 5, and possibly a friend. We sailed at the same time last year with very little planning. I have been planning this one since we decided to go in Jan. I am looking forward to meeting new people sailing with me and possibly finding a friend or two for my kids to get to know before we sail.

Do a lot of reading on the Cruise thread! You can also see some of the daily cruise navigators here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-stateroom-navigator.htm and that gives you an idea on what there is to do once onboard. Don't hesitate to ask questions too!

? for those of you with experience. How many people sit at the table for dining? When do you find out about the rotation. My mom & SIL booked later and didn't get the same seating do you think they will move them to our seating? It would be a bummer to not eat dinner together.

Well I'm looking forward to chatting with all of you!

Welcome Lisa!!!
I've been with a group of 14 and the've split us up between 2 to 4 tables depending on the restaurant. I think the largest we sat at was a table for 8.
As for the rotation, you don't find that out until you get onto the ship, though from my undertstanding they do take requests (like I've requested the 8pm seating hoping they won't give me the 8:30pm seating...)
Are your Mom and SIL waitlisted for the same seating? Are your reservations cross referenced? That makes things easier for the cruise line too.
Once you get your room key for the ship, your dining is printed on there. If they don't match then, you can make requests with the head waiter and see what he can do for you then.

This is our third trip on the Wonder too! After our last cruise in 2006 we talked about going on a 7-night cruise but then decided to go on the Wonder again. Also, DH didn't want to rent a tux for formal night on the Magic so we had planned a cruise for this September. Then DH won a 4-night cruise for four people that had to be taken this year so we moved the September cruise to next year and added our DGS.

We have never had dinner in Palo but have gone there for brunch which was amazing. We will probably try to do that again this trip. Are you planning to spend any time at WDW before or after the cruise? We own DVC (hence my name :rotfl2: ) so we are going to spend two nights at BCV after the cruise.

Does anyone have any high schoolers going along? We are bringing our 15 (will be 16 in Nov) and our 13 yr old DD's with us. The 13 year old sounds like she'll have plenty of company in the clubs but I'm afraid our older DD will be resorting to sunning herself the whole cruise. Anyone?

My DS will be 14 in Aug. He is not in high school yet though, he is going into 8th. This is his 2nd cruise, but first on DCL. It sounds like he will be pleasantly surprised by all of the teen activities.

This will be our first DCL cruise -- well, first cruise EVER for DH, DS, and my mom - I've done a 3 night Carnival cruise to Mexico, but that was over 10 years ago, so everything will be new to me;)

Hey guys! Woo Hoo, how exciting to see all these disers! I feel like I need to re-introduce myself, as there are so many new shipmates. DH and I , DS6 and DD3 will be sailing on the Wonder in 107 days. (Not that I am keeping track) :rotfl2: We (and I completely mean, me) are so excited to be able to book excursions this weekend. I am actively obsessing over our pirate night attire. pirate: Will post my findings!

:thanks: Kate! Today was the first day I started feeling better and I over did it. I walked (using my cane) from the bedroom through the living room into the kitchen, into the dining room and out onto the deck and all the way down the end and back. I should've opened the slider by the bedroom but didn't think that far ahead. By the time I got back Tom asked what I was doing and I told Tom I was "walking the mile . . . walking the mile" and Tom said be glad it's not The Geen Mile cuz we all know where that leads! :(

Any way, it took me about 15 minutes to walk that far! I need to rest so that I'll have strength in October. No bumpy rides at WDW or :bounce: for me but hopefully, plenty of :beach: at CC.

Hi everyone !! :wave2:

I just finished re-reading the thread from the beginning, :surfweb: to review what's going on with the group. According to my calculations, we are at 102 days and counting.:cool1:

Is anyone doing any shore excursions on this cruise ? None of the DCL offerings in Nassau has grabbed my attention. I considered the guided tour of historic Nassau, but I read on another thread that DCL no longer uses that vendor, so it's not available... We don't know what to do at this port call.

However, we are seriously considering the "Personal Watercraft Eco tour at Castaway Cay" for myself, DH, and DS.

Any other ideas or suggestions for a first timer ?? Thanks -- keahi

Bob and I are doing "on our own" excursions on Nassau - horseback riding! I've been to Nassau but haven't done this yet. Last cruise we just visited the straw market. We'll be skipping that this time.
As for Castaway Cay, I'd love to do some kayaking, but not sure if Bob will do that or not. He's leaning towards the stingrays. The only thing I did on my last trip to Castaway Cay was renting a bike because the winds were so horrible.
...so I don't know either what we plan on doing. I guess I better decide by the 7th!

We did the Eco Tour in 2006 and it was a lot of fun. DS will need to ride along with one of you since I think you have to be over 16 to ride alone. DH and I both had our own watercraft because I knew I wouldn't go as fast as he would. I wanted to do it again on this cruise but it will take over a year for my back to fully heal so it looks like we will need to plan another cruise. ;)

This is AWESOME!!! I can't wait! :cool1:
You beat me to it! I won't be doing any dancing for a while so this smiley :woohoo: is the only one that will work for now.

We finally got our air straightened out through DCL. It was going to cost almost $400 per person to deviate from their air fare and we didn't think it was worth it to spend that much money for each of us so it looks like we will be stopping in Charlotte, NC going down to MCO as well as coming back. We will also be flying on US Airways so we'll try to pack light so that we won't have to pay for all of our bags to be checked. I believe their new policy is $25 for the first piece of checked luggage and not sure what the price is for the second one. Also, they are now charging $2 for soda or water.

Has anyone ever flown with a stop in Charlotte? If so, how large is the terminal? I don't think we change planes for the flight to MCO but we do for the flight back to BOS. I appreciate any information you can provide.

Thanks,
Annmarie

How long is your layover Annemarie? Here's the terminal map: http://www.charmeck.org/NR/rdonlyres/ejayw4icgmqvgqosy5w6xddnojlfxolbl3qdv4fwqlq4pav3fj u7ll3aznbsltkzu2d2sljnh2luqh6v3np4f5srsdd/CLTTerminalDirectory.pdf
This might help in planning. I would think so long as you have a decent layover you should be ok. And if it's coming home, then I wouldn't worry too much - it's just work you have to go to! :rotfl:

:lmao: Thanks so much! We definitely want to do Palo for brunch one day (perhaps the day at sea). We really enjoyed this on our last cruise. Otherwise, even though we are CC members, I'm not sure if we'll reserve anything else in advance. I'm not sure if I'll be able to ride a bike by then so that one may wait too. On our last cruise, we did the glass bottom boats and since it's something we've already done I'm not sure we would want to do that again. I guess I need to log into DCL and see what else is available since we will be able to sign up in a few days for excursions.

DH and I decided to spring for the Romantic Escape at Sea (REAS) package for us, so we were also able to book at 105 days. :thumbsup2 We ended up booking a late Palo dinner for the first night (we'll have something light like appertizers with DS and my Mom during our regular main dining time) as well as brunch. We also went ahead and booked the personal watercraft Eco tour (waverunners) on CC. Heather, I know what you mean -- I feel like I should be booking other things while I have the chance.:woohoo:

Wow, are you guys able to book things already? This is our first time on DCL so I'm not really sure about how all of this works. On other cruises we've done we always booked excursions onboard. Do I just keep checking online to see when it will let me make reservations? :confused3

Can one of the experts tell me if is really necessary to book the snorkel rental or is that pretty much always available when you get to Castaway Cay?

Sorry another quick questions, do I have to sign up for kid activities as well or do they get to do whatever is going on in the Oceaneer Club?

TIA!!!!

I will be signing my DGS up for the Oceaneers Lab as soon as I am able to do so. I think I have a few more days to wait as a Castaway Cay Club Member. I was wondering if there was anything else that he had to be signed up for too. I believe the extra activities (not part of OL) such as bike and float plan or anything else on CC or in Nassau would be additional but I'm sure some of the "pros" here can respond. Annmarie

I don't recall for certain but I think I just made the reservation and then paid when onboard. I know everything we did while at CC ended up on our final bill before checking out so I don't think you will need to give your credit card to them. As you may know, when you arrive at the port, you will provide a credit card. This will be tied to your room key so that everything you do on the ship or CC will be charged to your account. Annmarie

Now that I think about it, when we went on one of the DVC member cruises, somebody was having a hard time logging in so I asked them for their information and made their reservations for them. I think I only needed their reservation number, cabin number and dates of births. It worked out perfectly for them and I was happy I was able to help out so I know that I did not need to provide a credit card for making the reservation. Annmarie

A few days late but my DW and I hope that everyone had a great Independence Day.

Well I was up at 4:30 this morning to make our Palo brunch and dinner reservations. I was a little concerned because I was able to log into the web site but I was not able to make our reservations. I logged out and went back at around 4:55. This time I was able to make the reservations. This happened to us last year and I had to wait until 9:00 a.m. and call DCL to have them straighten out my “log-in” problem. They said everything looked fine and it was just that the system was “very busy”.

Anyway these 90 days will go by very fast and before we know it we’ll be sailing out of Port Canaveral with the Sun setting at our backs.

By the way, has anyone set up a location on the ship we could all meet and introduce ourselves?
On our 3rd cruise we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a concierge room at the back of the ship, I believe it was 8102, (BIG ROOM). When we found out we were being upgraded we invited everyone who was a “DIS” member to join us on our veranda, (yeah, it’s also got a BIG veranda!). We had about 26 people stop by our cabin. It was fun to try and guess who was who and then finally be able to place a face to their name.

My DW and I are looking forward to meeting all of you…. See ya in 90 days….

I was going to ask about a meet onboard too. We did this on our last two cruises and it was nice to put faces with names (or at least DIS names).

I tried to make our reservations very early this morning (1:30AM) but since DH won the cruise, someone forgot to list that we did not owe any money for this. Luckily, it was all cleared up by dinner time and I was able to register my DGS for Oceaneers Lab and Palo Brunch for Tom and I on the day at sea. We did this on our last cruise and really enjoyed it.

I can't believe we are less than 90 days away from our cruise! I am hopeful that I will be feeling better by then. If not, I'll just use one of those electric scooters to get around. Does everyone have their passports yet? Due to my back surgery, we held off on doing this and now DH would like to get this done fairly soon.

Is anyone getting dressed up for pirate: night? We did it last time we cruised.

Double digits!!!! Yippeee! :yay:

This is my first DCL cruise. Made final payment today so I'm looking forward to 7/22 when I can make ressies!

Quick question, do you need to sign up for the snorkel rental for CC or can you just do that when you get there? At this point I'm not sure if my ds 5 & 8 will want to snorkel.

One more, when you register your kids for Oceaneer Club/Lab, are you registering for individual activities or just to be in the club?

Anyone ever sailed in Oct before, how hot will it be at CC?

Can't wait to meet everyone...I'm so excited I can't contain myself and were not telling the kiddos until Sept! :hippie:

When you sign the kids up it is for the club/lab itself. You dont have to sign them up for each activity. If there is something they want to do, they just go.

You can rent stuff for snorkeling at CC, you dont have to reserve it.

You can sign up for snorkel rental in advance if you'd like too. I believe there is a package that also includes a float and bike rentals too...

I don't know on the Oceaneers Club...

I sailed two years ago October. It was nice - shorts and tanks/t-shirts. Castaway Cay was WINDY. But we still went swimming once it warmed up. The wind was still there, but it was really nice on the adult beach. Onboard, I was thankful for a sweater at dinner and during shows.

We aren't going to do Pirate Night...I'd love to but I don't think we'll have room to pack outfits for us.

I'd love to meet up too! We'll have to set up a time one day!

Is anyone doing any door signs for the cruise??

We sailed in October 2006 and the weather was beautiful. I wore shorts or sun dresses every day. I did bring a sweater into the dining rooms and theaters at night because they tended to be a little chilly. We had two days at CC for that trip and one day was perfect and the other was very windy and they cancelled some of the excursions. I know we did the Eco Tour (jet skis) but we were unable to go to one of the locations they usually take you to and they cancelled parasailing for safety reasons.

We hope to get to the port as early as possible but are spending the night before at airport Hyatt and don't remember what time the first bus heads to the port. I haven't decided about door magnets yet. I don't have a fish extender and not sure if I'll purchase one. Things have been crazy since my surgery and since I'm still not even close to 100% at this point, I need to focus more on getting healthy (and of course checking in here from time to time) :thumbsup2

We have always reserved our CC stuff in advance because I want to make sure I have a float on CC. I have read on other boards that people bring their own floats that they purchase at Walmart/Target rather than pay $6 per person. I'm not sure if I'll be able to ride a bike by then so I think I'll wait til I get onboard to do that. Otherwise, I'll probably be at the :beach:
