We are going Nov. 12-17. There will be 8 adults and 6 kids ages 1-8. I have some questions!

First, how busy will it be during that week? It is before Thanksgiving but the 12th is Veterans Day.

Second, hotel recommendations.... Or even recommendations of where not to stay. I would love to do the HoJo or the Carousel but the rest of the family is thinking a little cheaper. I found 5 nights at the HoJo w/ DL view for $560. Days Inn is only $367, Islander is $336 and Ramada Maingate at $454. Any suggestions on discounts? Most rates I got through their website except the HoJo which I got through another site. We do have AAA and Costco memberships.

Third, Tickets. Are we better off to get a package through Getawaytoday or somewhere else? Or book separately. If separately, where would be the best place to get tickets?

Finally, any tips or suggestions on anything else? I haven't been to DL since the 80s so I know a lot has changed!

Thanks!

Did you ask HOJO is they have the entertainment rate for your dates? I am getting a park view in early december for 69 a night. You have to buy an entertainment book to get the discount, but you can buy your local one and use it all year. We have stayed at HOJO before and loved it.

You need need to call the hotel directly and ask for in house reservations, do not use the 800 reservation number.

I think Getawaytodays rates are pretty fabulous. I would go with them - taking advantage of the 4th night free promo. Check them out!:)

I've done WDW about that time, and this year will be at DL (staying at DLH) that week... 'Tis my semiannual (likely to soon be annual) Disney birthday romp.

From what I remember in Florida in November, it was on the quiet side. No huge lines for anything and pretty easy to get around. I was with a friend in a wheelchair and we had plenty of space to navigate. One thing to watch for though is/was ride refurbs and such. For instance it seems like they alternate which water park to close in Florida for the offseason. Nearly put a damper on my birthday surf lesson.

Veteran's Day will be busy. Expect long lines in the afternoon. My best advice is to get to the park when it opens to get on the big rides before the crowds hit around 11 AM. Otherwise, as the week goes on, the crowds should lighten up again until Friday and the weekend. They may be filming their annual Christmas show that week. Last year, we saw Ryan Seacrest and Hannah Montana. Also, the Christmas decorations will start going up, the tree may even be up on Main Street. IASW will be decorated for the holidays as well.

Have a great trip! :)
