Do we need to get an approval to use our personal golf cart? We looked at a Ruff & Tuff (electric) over the weekend and we really, really liked it. It has a little more "kick" than the Club Cars at FW and goes a little faster.

Nope. No permission required. You still have to abide by the same rules as the rentals which they will give you at check in.

It is a bit more expensive than the regular golf carts but DH was thinking about the off-road aspect. We will definately use it at the Fort too if it's legal. :thumbsup2

Don't worry, as long as it's not gas powered, chances are it will be legal :)

WOW! Those are expensive, especially the Bad Boy Buggies. For that kind of cash I would buy a used one and then buy a Polaris RZR or Ranger or even a Rhino for the off road stuff. We had a hunt lease member who owned a Bad Boy Buggie and he did not have enough torque or speed to get through our #1gate and had to drive 3 miles up the road to an easier gate. I was also waving goodbye to him as we passed him on the trails. I jsut think it should fly and float for that kind of money.:thumbsup2

you can take an electric cart off road to a point..... look at buggiesunlimited.com

they have message boards

But aren't those gasoline powered? I want something really quiet. We live at the foot of the Appalachians so it's very hilly and I can see a use for it (we're hunters too but we shoot with our camera) ;)

According to the last rules that were given at check-in, Gas and Electric golf carts are allowed.

As long as the Hills are not too steep the Bad Boy Buggie will work. Even with 4 wheel drive they can only do so much but they are popular for hunters. And yes, the RZR and Rhino are gas operated but for the same money, you can do far more with them out in the woods than the Bad Boy Buggie. You may want to consider the mule for your property, especially the trans-4 as it converts to a 4 or 5 seater if you have a family you like to take along.

I thought I had read in the Gazette that gas powered was not allowed. I'll have to rummage for my Gazette tonight and check. I could have sworn I read that somewhere...anywho, I wish they would not allow the gas powered but that's just my wish. :)

That is why we haven't purchased one yet. The other places we go camping you don't really need one and we only go to the Fort once a year right now (unfortunately). You can rent one of their golf carts a lot of times before you would get up to the expense of buying one.

That really depends on where you get the cart and how much you pay for it. We decided that getting a cart would be more beneficial to us because we go at least 5 times a year. I found one on ebay that was pink and no one really bid on it, so we got it for $525. It was available locally, so it was just an hour drive. We have fixed it up the way we like it and it has paid for itself over and over again. If you are only going once a year, I can fully understand not getting one. We actually use ours here to run errands, even though I know I will get caught one day!;)

When we checked in this week, Disney updated their sheet/guidelines for carts. I'll quote it for you

"All Carts must be decorated in a tasteful manner, ie no Auburn/UM logos. Should a gas/electric cart not fit into the taste guidelines, duct tape will be applied by a Cast Member to bring the cart into compliance."

I could have sworn that I heard a CM tell me through the grapevine that you had received some tape on your reptiles that you have pasted all over your cart! :rotfl:

I will have to check out Ebay closer. I try and stay away from there. Causes me too much trouble if you know what I mean. I hate to be out bid. lol
If we used one around here for errands the cops would be on us like white on rice.
If we start being able to go to the Fort more we would seriously consider getting one.

:rotfl2: Actually, they changed it again. They now use blue paint and a paint brush. It is a special paint that allows the owner to wash it off after they leave the camp ground.:thumbsup2

No jealousy here! Isn't the spot next to the dumpster always reserved for Gator fans?? That was my understanding!:rotfl2:
