I am just about to book two weeks with Travel City Direct for nexy April.
I am booking for my DW, DD (4), my wife is expecting our 2nd child in two weeks, both sets of parents and brother in law.
So that is 7 adults, 1 child and 1 infant.
We plan on staying in a 5 bedroom villa. Flights will TCD.
I think we are getting a 7 seater and a car unless someone can convince me to get a 12 seater van.
We have been a few times to WDW so we generally know what to expect, otherwise I would not be contemplating taking a 9 month old baby.
Although it is not ideal taking a baby of this age, I think we will have plently of help and support from both sets of parents. I have taken my daughter twice to WDW and also twice to Disnleyland Paris and she loves it. This year we have been to Tenerife and Alicante, last year Crete and Cyprus and although I enjoyed both breaks, they really do not compare to the feeling you get going to WDW.
Travel City, although does get bad press from time to time, we have been with them twice and never had any serious issues. The things like set back TV's etc are good but the difference in price, is it really worth it.
I spent the weekend looking at prices from various travel agencies and on-line and TCD beat any rival by 3k. Now that is a lot of money.
So should I book it or not?
Am I mad taking a 9 month old?
What car should I book....
I just want someone to tell me I am mad to think about it......or not to worry and just book it.....
Cheers

I don't think you'r e mad thinking about taking a baby, especially as you are taking grandparents too!
Have you thought about 2 cars? It can be very restricting all being dependant on just 1 car.
My advice would be book the flights if you like the price & book the villa seperately directly with an owner. We've just booked a villa for our holiday in August, we know exactly where it is & what is there. When we were looking, several villas had baby equipment to borrow which I think would make life easier for you.

I hadn't thought of that, I was only thinking about cost of parking at parks would be cheaper. But it would be very restricting, I like that idea....
(That is why i posted on here...I love this site)
Who did you book your villa with, an agency or direct with owners. Again, any help/advise is very much appreciated.

We are going at Christmas this year with a 2 year old and an 11 month old, so we too are mad!
We have done all our bookings DIY as DH priced up every agent that you could come accross and we found that this was the best thing for us to do.
We are flying with Continental and staying in a Villa that we have booked directly with the owner, it's just a basic 4 bed with a pool, the guy owns two and we have stayed in his 3 bed one before so we know what to expect. The rates are reasonable too. If you would like the link to his website please PM me.
I think DH used Hertz for the car, we are having a large van, as we have 6 adults and the two kids. We thought about the two car thing but the car parking charges at the parks put us off. Also there is the extra costs of insurance, petrol etc with two cars and also whether there are other members of the party will want to share the driving.

All i would say about having a seven seater van is where is all your luggage going to go?
We struggled last time with 4 adults, 1 child, 1 infant in a seven seater. There is not much room in them and the time you fit in the pushchair etc.
We found one car was fine for us as we were staying on Disney property and if one person wanted the van then there was always the convience of Disney transport but as you are staying in a Villa you are restricted.
I would reccommend booking everything seperately. http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/ is a good site for Villas.

Hi
ID definatly get 2 cars, for space and convienence, i think id even think about 2 neighbouring villas, next door or similar, as much as its nice travelling with family, it is also nice to have some quiet time(or just somewhere to hide!)
i travelled with my parents this year and the first was a villa and then disney boardwalk and last few days in seperate rooms at hotel, the last few days were so nice to not all be on top of each other

Yes I would go, the best thing is that you have so much help while you are out there. Two sets of grandparents to help if the baby gets a little fractious on the plane. If everyone shares the load it makes it so much less stressful. :goodvibes
I agree to booking your own villa as well. At least then you can book one with highchair etc included. Someone mentioned holiday rentals and that is a good site. I would also recommend www.holidaylettings.co.uk its slightly smaller site and easier search engine i think.
Definatley book two cars, just so you have the option to all do different things, we have gone in a large family group and it stopped many an argument. :cool1:

Depending on the birth date, we will have a (approx!) six week old with us on this trip. We had already booked when I found out I was pregnant, and providing all is well, I can't think of an reason not to go. DD was 12 weeks when we first took her.
Booking yourself should be cheaper, and you can tailor it to exactly what you need. I would think of getting a 7 seater and an economy car - you will all fit in the 7 seater to go the parks etc, but you have a spare if not everyone wants to do the same thing, and one or two people could travel in that with a lot of the luggage to and from the airport. If you use Dollar, you can pay for a platinum upgrade which not only includes a tank of petrol, but also includes any number of additional drivers.
Good luck with your planning :goodvibes
