Hi! My family (me, DH and DD14 - at trip time) will be on this cruise in May 2008. :cool1:
This will be our 3rd Disney cruise and our first Double-Dip cruise. We love the shorter cruises, because we go mainly to enjoy the amenities of the ship itself. Two trips to CC are icing on the cake! :goodvibes
We have late dining. How about you?
I hope that there will be a Palo brunch, even though we don't have a traditional "at sea" day.
TTFN!

Kathy,
Hi!! We are down for early seating. This is our first cruise with the kids so I am so excited!!!! I too am hoping for the brunch, although I am not really sure when we should try for the Palo dinner either. When do we think they will make a decision about what night for Pirate Night and those types of things?

Jules,
I just realized I didn't respond to you!!
My kids are so excited about the activities. My 8 year old (will turn 9 on board) can't wait. I asked her if she wanted to try and stay with her brother...she looked at me like I had lost my mind..."no MOTHER". Oh well.
They are also looking forward to cookies and milk before bed!

We have early dining also. We have watched the DCL planning video MULTIPLE times and the kids are counting down the days! DH and I are hoping for the Palo brunch. Sounds yummy.

Hi All ;) ,
I just moved my cruise for the 3rd time -- downgrading from a 7 night Eastern. This will be our second cruise -- our first was Thanksgiving 2005 Western. I was looking at prices and thought maybe we should just do the 4 night and then go to the parks after (we've never been).
Joining me will be DH, DD (12), and DS (10) [at time of cruise]. Also, when I booked I was surprised to find that there were tons of rooms already book -- while I was thinking May might not be as crowded!
Hope we have a great voyage!!!

Hi All,
I am very sad to say that we will not be joining you all! I mentioned we'd never been to the Parks and that we were switching to a 4 day cruise to go to the parks afterwards well I sensed that my kiddos were more interested in the parks so call me stupid but I asked :scared1:
You guessed it, so now we are doing the parks ONLY AND worse I cancelled my coveted cruise that I've been moving all over the place since 2005 (to retain my discount and credits)
Well you know... it's for the kids -- right
I hope we like the parks since we'll be there for a good long visit!
Enjoy your cruise! I'm sure I'll be thinking of it while I'm in Orlando!!!

We'll be joining you, too! I am so excited I can hardly stand it!! It'll be me (hi! I'm Terri!), my dh Thomas, and our son, Jared, who is 8. This is our 1st time on a cruise! We're doing the Land and Sea, so we'll be doing the park 3 days 1st then the cruise (also our 1st!). We'll be happily relaxing after running around WDW for 3 days!
I can't believe we get the double-dip!! WOW! How cool is that? Castaway Cay for TWO days!!:cheer2:
I'm still waiting to see who can get me the best deal, but got 2 holds on for this cruise! I've been reading like mad and making Tip Sheets, etc. for both the park and the cruise! :thumbsup2
Hope to see you guys there! Oh...I think we're going with the later dining.

Also, it should be FOUR days of CC if you're doing B2B's with it being a Double Dip cruise! :cool1:

it's our 4th and 5th disney cruise. We just love every bit of it. Helpful tip - if going to Atlantis, book a 1 day reservation at the Comfort Inn on Paradise Island. Much cheaper that the Disney cost.
As far as the B2B, we are doing the 4 day DD at CC and then the 3 day cruise. So it's just 3 days at CC. But we are still very happy about that!

Hi! Ah...I see re: the 4 and 3 day. Why didn't you just book a 7 Day cruise? Was it cheaper splitting it?
Atlantis...I've heard it's not worth it...is it? Also, why book a hotel on Atlantis?? Haven't researched it yet. What do you mean cheaper then the Disney cost?
When did you book your cruises?

we didn't book a 7 day b'c we are CC freaks! the 4 day DD and the 3 day will give us 3 days at CC.
As for Atlantis, it's only $245 to get a room @ Comfort Inn, which gives us all access to Atlantis, the Dig, all pools and such. the DCL excursion price was over $500. Atlantis is great for my family. DH just loves clear water and gambling. DD is 5 and DS is 3 and both love the kiddie water park, and lazy rivers. Plus we all love The Dig.
We booked or B2B's on our last Disney Cruise. Saved alot of money on both b/c they give you alot off your next cruise if you rebook

Ouch....I dunno....too much $$$ for us considering everything that Disney offers already. Paying enough as it is...and there's so much to enjoy between the Wonder and Castaway Cay.
But I know some people opt to do Atlantis. I know us...we're beach and ocean freaks, so just chillin' on Castaway will make us extremely happy! :dance3:

Okay...now I'm really excited! We paid off the trip yesterday (we just booked like a week or two into February! lol), and I'm soooo ready to experience this incredible trip!
We decided to add on one day to WDW after the cruise, which will be perfect! 3 days at WDW, then the 4 day cruise, then that one extra day! We just added on a value resort for the last night. And it was sooo cheap! So instead of being sad that the cruise has ended, we can be excited at another day in the park! Perfect!
So...how many of you are really starting to get excited? Wow...it won't be long before we're boarding the Wonder!
Oh...and hello to those who I haven't said a hi to! Hey, who's up for meeting on the ship? A meet up? Perhaps a drink at the bar? :woohoo:
This is going to be the trip of a lifetime. Our kids will never forget it! My son is sooo excited and is counting down the days!

My mom, 10-year-old daughter, and I will also be on this cruise, which is our second Disney cruise. Our first Disney cruise was cut short by Hurricane Jeane, and we didn't get to stop at Castaway Cay, so we're trying it again during non-Hurricane season! We're also celebrating my "big" birthday (but I won't mention which one!).
My daughter might be interested in emailing with some girls around her age prior to the cruise, but I don't know how to do that without posting my email address here for all the world to see. So if someone can tell me how to do this, that would be great.
We are also staying in a SPH room, and it looks like a few others on this thread are as well, so I'm sure we'll be seeing each other. We're staying at WDW 3 nights prior to and 3 nights after the cruise, so we're very excited!

Hi Chris
In options settings if you have "enable private messagess" turned on then people can click you name & send you a private message with email contact details on etc. (It doesn't look like you have this enabled so I can't send you a message.) If you click my name on the left it should come up with "send private message" if you do this & include an email address I'll get my girls to reply.
My 3 are 2 girls aged 11 & 9 and my son is aged 5. Were from Nottingham England & this will be our 2nd cruise. Family loved it last year!!!!
My girls would love to email & chat to anyone they might meet in the kids club whilst on board - just drop me a message & I'll get them to reply!
I didn't mean to stir it up with my post above - just thought it was quiet with not many people on our cruise had found the thread!!! Glad there are a few more now & looking forward to seeing everyone on board (You'll know us from the English accents!!!!!!!! Mind you nearly all the entertainments cast are also from the UK!!!!!)

It is our first Cruise ever, So I chose Disney Cruise Lines. ( My husband does not like to get involved in any planning...He says ,just book it, he'll be happy)
DH,50 Me 49, DS,31 DS,28 DS Girlfriend 28
Verandah and Port Hole staterooms.
My husband doesn't understand why I chose the Disney Cruise as we have no young children.
I told him it wasn't nescessary... as I've been reading these boards for awhile now and they are great.
I got up at midnight and booked the Palo Brunch and Palo for the last night.
I don't fully understand the dining rotation yet.
I have learned.... to make sure we dine at AP the first rotation night.
I don't want to miss Tritons or the Pirate Party. So I hope Palo on the last night works out.
We are staying at the Dolphin for 3 days after the cruise.
We also booked the Comfort Suite room for 05/20/2008
I am so excited I can't wait. This was our Christmas Present.:santa:

Hey, Ron & Tammy!
Yep, being in the heart of the park sounds awesome!! And those "Heavenly Beds" at the Swan and Dolphin sounds GREAT!! I'm looking forward to sinking into those every night! lol
Hey, I'm totally up for us meeting up for drinks! My husband's name is Thomas. Hoping those on this thread step up and say "YES!" lol
For those that aren't aware of it, when you reply to this thread, be sure to make sure choose the option to get notified of replies to this thread! :)

Go for it & stir it up Terri!!!!!!
I've posted previously that I thought our cruise list was quiet. (Can't be that quiet seeing as all the Palo reservations have gone!!!!!!!!!!).
I think we'll miss Palo this time ........ coming over from the UK means that I'd have to bring a jacket etc with me to do Palo & can't aford the room in my case!!!!!! That said the food in every rotation last year was excellent & I don't know which I'd be willing to give up to dine in Palo!!!!!!!!!
Notice lots of people doing the comfort Inn again this year. I did go across to Atlantis last time & managed to walk all around without a wristband & without being questioned (although I didn't uses the water complex). Again decided with 2 stops at castaway that I can save the comfort inn cost for the day!
Doing 9 days when we get back in Orlando but going to avoid more Disney & focus on Universal, Seaworld & it's new water park - that looks really great sliding underwater around the dolphins!!!!!!

Ha...been trying to stir it up! Haven't been too successful! It'd be nice to get to know some of you and the days are quickly moving towards the day we all board the Wonder!
Since we're first timers, perhaps you have some ideas for the best place and time to meet up! :) Shoot out some ideas and let's see if we can come up with a meeting place/time!
Hmm..how fancy do you have to be for Palo? I have ressies for our last night on the cruise.
I've been to SeaWorld in San Diego. It was awesome! Enjoy yourself at Universal, too! I love dolphins! My husband and I saw with them in Jamaica a couple years back. Incredible creatures!

Chris,
I think it's a couple weeks before the cruise, but I could be wrong.
Also, you should fill out your documents online at http://www.disneycruseline.com. You need your confirmation code to do this. My code came with several digits with a / in the middle. If yours did, too, you only use the numbers after the /.
I can't wait to go! Wow, 23 more days and we'll be headin' to Orlando for our Land part of our vacation! :woohoo:

Hi John and Renee! Welcome! It's been really quiet here! I'm hoping to get people talking! It'd be nice to get to know each other a bit! btw...under my user name is my Yahoo and MSN Messenger links if you'd ever like to chat.
I've never cruised before, so not sure when the best time to meet for drinks would be. I guess it'd be nice to meet ASAP, though. Perhaps the 1st night sometime?

I still need to do some shopping, too. My DS has grown soooo much since last summer and I know none of his summer stuff is gonna fit! I did buy him some cute Mickey swim trunks from Disney Shopping, though! They're coming Thursday!
I'm starting to get REALLY excited and stressed at the same time! I've got so much to put together, and still don't really have an itinerary for the Land portion of our vacation! :scared: Okay, breathe, Terri, breathe!

So tickets in hand (& I've checked they are all 100% correct!!!!)....... On line check in done & forms printed out .......passports all checked........... I'm ready & waiting!!!

I almost finished shopping for the trip. Seems like our Disney clothes have all worn out at the same time. Honestly I think its because I got tired of all of them. After a few trips it's time for new ones.:rotfl:
Has anyone else ordered stuff from the Disney shopping site? Seems like some of the Women's clothes run on the small side. I found that I have to go up a size or two. Anyone else notice this.
I'm not sure if the first night will work for us. We're taking DCL transport from Disney World to the ship so we'll be arriving later to the port than other folks.
Anyone else that has cruised-what time/day is good to meet??
Anyone else trying to get more fit for the cruise? I'm working on my Pilates. Slowly but surely it is helping.
I'm currently working on our cruise magnets. Any one else going to decorate your door?
We can't wait to cruise!

Hi everybody. I'm coming too! Me, my mom and my sons, 7 and 8. I've done two 3nt cruises with my husband and kids, but since we have our own business, it's hard for both of us to be away, especially during the week, so the 4nt was a little harder for us. But the kids love the idea of grandma coming along. I really wanted to do the double dip!

:earsboy: Hi everyone!
My DH and I will be there! We will be spending three days in WDW before the cruise and this is our first vacation ever! This will also be our first plane ride too from Philadelphia. I know there's requirements with liquids and stuff, is it typical for people to get airsick?
I also have been quite busy finishing my Masters and this is a graduation present from the DH. Problem being, I have not given this vacation too much thought in terms of what to do in WDW, what I should expect on the ship, etc. Is this going to come back and haunt me? I did book a couple of excursions while at CC and Nassau and dinner at Palo on the first night.
Any tips, especially with flying for the first time, would come in real handy!

Congrats on your Masters!
I am graduating with my MBA in May and this trip is my present, as well. My partner and I are doing 3 days at WDW (staying at POFQ) before the trip and we have Palo at 6 on the first night. Small world :)
The TSA.gov site gives the details about liquids, click here for link (http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/index.shtm).
I have never gotten airsick and I can be sensitive to motion. I would say get some Bonine or some people say ginger tablets can help. Since this is your first plane ride, bring some gum to help with the ear popping from the pressure change.
I think you will have fabu time regardless of whether you have micro-planned the trip or just let it happen. :) :) :) :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Our flight leaves Columbus, OH at 7:40 AM on May 15th to get us to WDW to begin the Land portion of our Land and Sea vacation.
I am packing to try to determine if I need larger luggage :lmao:
and really to see if I have forgotten anything in terms of clothing needs. I have a short list of essentials that I know that I need to pick up, but getting things in bags lets me know what else I am missing...
I will repack at least once before we go to better distribute the stuff!

Vacation time is one area I know you guys in the US get a raw deal on compare to us in the UK
I get 30 days fully paid vacation + another 8 days which are public holidays spread throughout the year. That's why the Brits are always in Orlando for full 2 week periods when they are over!!!!!!!
You have the upper hand on us in many other areas but vacation time is once good benefit we get over here!!!!!

We are flying to Orlando on May 15 and doing the Pirate & Princess Party on the 16th before the cruise. Then we'll spend a couple more days at WDW before we fly back home to Texas.
I haven't actually started packing yet, but I have spent every weekend shopping and shopping for all the stuff we need for the trip (plus it's just that time of year when my daughter needs new swimsuits, shorts, shirts, shoes, . . .). Actually, the more I get checked off on my "to do" list, the longer it seems to become and the longer my packing list becomes - it's a vicious cycle!
Anyway, I've still got to make a tentative schedule, do more shopping, get haircuts, manicures, pedicures, and oh so much more. OK, I'm making myself tired just thinking about it. I'm ready to be there!

We will also be at the POFQ for the three days before our cruise! And I graduate tomorrow! 4.0 for the last semester. :cool1:  :woohoo:

I will be graduating on Monday! I found a big smiley face with a graduation cap at the party store that I'm attaching with magnets and putting it on the outside of our door on the ship.
Yay for us!

Yep, we'll be at WDW for 3 days before the cruise, too, then for a day and a half after the Wonder.
Congrats on the upgrade!! My son has NO idea and I can't wait to see his face!
Woo hoo! It's almost time! I'm trying not to panic about being ready yet, but I always manage! lol I can't believe some people pack 2 weeks before the cruise! lol
Your son will be so excited for the window! :yay:
I'll be lucky if I'm packing 2 days before this trip. I have family coming in town tomorrow for graduation and today will be spent cleaning and revising my resume to apply for a summer camp counselor before we leave. The fact that I'm a born procrastinator doesn't help either!
True to form though, I was panicking last night about having nothing packed. :scared1: My DH rolled his eyes at me and thought I was silly.
It'll be all good...it has to be cause we'll be in Disney at this time next week! WOOHOO!!! :dance3:

For those of you doing the 3 days in WDW previous to this cruise, here are the temps for those three days via weather channel:
Thursday: High 93
Friday: High 92
Saturday High 98 :scared1:
Is it typically that hot at this time of year? I heard mid-80's when I was booking this back in January.
And I look outside my house and it is barely pushing 60.

URGENT: FIRES IN BREVARD COUNTY - I-95 Closed!!
About 200 homes are being evacuated in Cocoa near State Road 524, which is closed. Interstate 95 is closed from mile marker 173 south to mile marker 156 because of heavy smoke and fire danger in Malabar.
Today it is very breezy in central Florida. That, combined with the dry conditions, have led to some recent brush fires. You can see thick smoke from the port.
For those traveling on I-95 or the Beachline, watch the news carefully for road closures which may affect your route to the port.
MELBOURNE A day after the Space Coast came within a degree of tying the record temperature, forecasters are warning of continued dry conditions.
It looks dry for the next seven days with no chance of significant rain for the foreseeable future, said Tony Cristaldi, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
A fire weather watch likely will be issued for Monday afternoon as humidity drops to critically low levels, he said.
Today, the forecast called for a 20 percent chance of isolated showers and possible lightning after 2 p.m.
That increases the possibility of brush fires in Brevard County.

LOL...your and my husband sound exactly alike in that department! Mine's been doing the same thing!
I was panicking because I didn't realize that kids couldn't wear shorts and T-shirts to dinner. So I just spent $102 at Kohl's!! Ugh! My son has grown like a weed and practically had nothing in the "dress casual" department :scared1:
I'm trying to relax, too, knowing that before we know it we'll be at WDW! I can't believe it's only 3 days until we wake up and GO! :woohoo:

I don't know if it's normal or not. I'm just hoping we don't end up with major sunburns just from the WDW part alone! Guess we'll be lathering on the sunscreen!
It's cool, windy, and rainy out here in the NW today. Yuk! But go figure...the day after we leave it hits almost 80!!

Thank you! My ceremony was today and it felt great to get that hood and that piece of paper.
So, anybody decide when and where we will be meeting up? I know that my dearest and I are in Palo at 6 and that we plan to make a visit to our table for the late seating just to meet everyone at our table and our servers though I doubt that we will be able to eat through anymore food... So we should be free after 9 or 10, just a guess because we have never done this dealio before. :upsidedow
Anyways, I look forward to taking this trip and hopefully meeting you all! Heat, fires, smoke, or not! :scared1:

Spackle,
I'd personally love to meet up! Man, this meet up thread is so quiet!! Well, was for many weeks. :confused3
But yes, we'd love to meet!
Not sure of a time. Never done a cruise before, and no idea when my son will crash. But I'm betting we'll have to drag him out of the club!
But 9 or 10 sounds reasonable to me. Our cells will work for awhile.
My email is tparbs@comcast.net if you'd like to contact me directly. Plus I have my Yahoo and MSN messenger to the left under my nickname here. Just click on the icons if you have either messenger.
Wow....I feel bad for anyone trying to get up 95 to get to the Wonder or Orlando!! :scared:

Hello.. I'm not on your cruise. However, I might like to suggest getting a hotel room in Cape Canaveral or Cocoa Beach the nite before your cruise. Conditions are not expected to improve over the next 7 days. For those of you staying in Orlando, be sure to get a map of the area in case there are any road closures and detours.

z,
Thanks for the tip. I hope this fire gets under control for everyone's sake.
I think those of us taking the ME to the port should be fine. They'll know the detours, etc. to get us to the ship.

I would like to meet you guys as well. If you guys don't have a meeting place set up yet, I'm pretty sure you both are up on Deck 2 on opposite sides and I'm right in the middle. Since this is my first cruise and not knowing about the ship yet, maybe meeting somewhere on that deck will work then go from there.

I'm the girl with the wild mane of dark hair with highlights, so I'm easy to spot! My hubby is Thomas and my son is Jared. :)
Our flight leaves at 12:40 PM tomorrow. Though it gets us into WDW late, I don't mind. I hate those real early morning flights!
Oh, and to Scott and his daughter Nicole, I'll try to have Jared write back today!
I'm pretty much packed! Can't wait to experience that Disney magic I've heard so much about!! pixiedust:

Amen to this Sister!!!! I'm (trying) to pack light too!!
I saw that you posted your cell phone number. Hope you don't mind, we'd like to join the get together the first night of the cruise.
We'll try to catch up with you all on the ship.

Doing WDW and DCL is two completely different vacations! Gotta have slacks, polos...you know, dressier stuff! I WAS going to pack DH's and DS's suits, but said FORGET IT! My TA said the shorter cruises are more laid back. Some people dress to the nine's on Formal Night, others wear slacks, polo's, etc. So that's what we're doing!

Okay, it's midnight and we're heading to bed. We'll get 9 hours of sleep, hopefully, and throw a few things--mostly toiletries, into the suitcases and be on our way!
Yes, I felt like wth??? Packing up stuff and thinking this should have been done with already! lol
It'll all come together, everyone! It always does! Before we know it, we'll be gazing out at the ocean from the Wonder and all the preparing and anticipation will be well worth it! :thumbsup2

Me too! I was pulling out our "old" summer stuff and decided that we needed to replace some of it. I ordered a bunch of stuff online for the trip. For a while there it seemed like the UPS guy was coming every other day.
I don't think we would replace our wardrobe unless we had an "excuse" like the cruise.:rotfl2:

I'm Lori, hubby is Mark.... we have DS Jacob (3) and DS Logan (9). Not on deck 2 (though I bet that's nice! That's near the top, right?).
Hoping to be seated with some of you at dinner because I'm too chicken to use my cell on the ship (afraid of roaming charges)(I'm cheap like that).
Getting excited about our first Disney cruise!!! Still so much to do. I haven't finished our door signs, still have to buy nice-to-haves like glow necklaces... made a huge list but haven't started packing yet. ACK!!!!! I'm such a procrastinator!!
Best wishes to everyone, hope you have a magical time on the cruise!! :-)

Hey, everyone!! I know it's been over a month since we've cruised, but I just wanted to check in and see what everyone thought. We had an incredible time and can't wait to cruise again!!
I wish I could have met many of you, but we met Scott and his girls and they were so sweet! Scott even gave Jared a bag of pirate goodies!
Fours days goes too fast! Next time we'll plan a week!
I was surprised, but I got seasick!! It was the first two nights, and I didn't have it REAL bad, but after that I was fine!
I wish I had time to chat more, but the dinner hour is fast approaching so I have to run, but just wanted to check in with everyone.
The Wonder was WONDERful! I hope you guys felt the same!
