Is there any compensation for people joining DVC that you referred? What is the best way to refer someone? We live in CA if that makes a difference. Thanks!

I believe it depends on what state you live in. Some states allow gifts/compensation for referrals, some don't.

I have never heard what is the best way to refer people is. I do know on the member website they have some form to fill out to refer people. The way I was reffered was I got the number and name of a salesguide from a DVC member and when I called they asked who give me thier name and that was it.

the person you refer should give them your name when they sit down with the rep. if your state allows a refferal fee you will be sent something. i think the person we put down as refering us recieved $200.00 in disney dollars or it could be used to pay on thier dues. we live in mass. :jester: :jester: :jester:

As to why some states would ban giving referals is a matter of interpreting real estate law. All states have real estate laws making it illegal to provide real estate services without a license. Paying a referal fee to someone is considered to be paying for real estate services.

I have NEVER understood this rule!!! Here in VA, according to DVC, I am not allowed gifts for referrals. However, my other timeshare will pay my maintenence fees, offer free weekends, etc for referrals that buy!!! GO FIGURE!! So why is it that DVC is the only one that won't allow the gifts here???
