We will be leaving our hotel (park vue inn) on a Thur. sometime arond noon to drive to San Diego. How bad will the traffic be and how long will it take us??? I want to be checked in to our other hotel in San Diego (Days Inn and Suites on Rosecranns st.) around 3 to we can unpack and get to dinner by 5. We are eating at the Corvetter Diner. Never been there but heard it was FUN :goodvibes Thanks

Probably around 2 hours, but it really depends on the time of day. As long as you avoid the time periods between 7-10 AM and 4-7 PM, the traffic's not quite as bad... but you never know. One time we drove from San Diego up to Universal City starting at 6 PM and it took 5 hours! :scared1:
I'm going up to Anaheim on Tuesday then coming back on Thursday, but later in the day than you're traveling. I'll probably hit a lot more traffic than you will. :)

Leaving at noon should give you plenty of time to reach SD by 3:00. There should even be time to enjoy some time to enjoy beautiful SD!
if you leave at noon you will get to san diego at about 1:30thats how long it takes me everyday of the week

We just made the drive from DL to SD this past Friday. The trip should normally take about 1-1/2 to maybe 2 hours max, but the Del Mar Fair is going on right now & that slowed us WAYYYY down. It took an extra 45 minutes just to get thru all the fair traffic.

But race seasons starts at Del Mar on July 18th, so you need to factor in traffic for that too.

Ah, the Corvette Diner! We lived in San Diego for a few years when our kids were young, and we always loved going there! If they still have it, make sure someone orders the burger with peanut butter on it. I know it sounds icky, but it's REALLY GOOD! ::yes::

Hambugers with peanut butter.............WOW...I've never heard of that before. We will defentily try that. And thank you to all of you for your tips. What is the race season and does it affect the drive???

We made the drive from Disney To Sea World in an hour on a Sunday morning. The trip back though took nearly 2 hours because of traffic.
