If you're travelling on I-4, drop by for a bite to eat at the Compass Rose Restaurant in Fantasy of Flight. It's about 30 minutes south of Disney World on exit 21.

The restaurant serves your standard grill food -- burgers, salads, sandwiches, pies, pancakes, eggs, etc. The food is pretty good, though. I particularly like the veggie burger, which is the best I've ever had. The onion burger really adds flavor. The burgers come with a cup of soup and your choice of fries, coleslaw, and fruit. Prices are pretty reasonable too. They're comparable to Denny's or IHOP -- meals are general $7-$10 and $1.25 for drinks.

You don't need to pay admission to eat at the Compass Rose. There's also a girft shop your can browse without paying admission either. Fantasy of Flight does have some nice exhibits. The history of flight walk-through area is incredible and well-detailed. The end of the walk-through is a hangar full of airplanes on display. Fightertown is a simulator game where you duke it out with other pilots. I usually end up crashing. There's also flight demonstrations and a balloon ride.

It's unfortunate that the restaurant isn't advertised very much. I think I saw one billboard for the restaurant on I-4 as I headed west.

The prices may be comparable to Denny's but I think the Compass Rose is a cut above. The decor is nifty -- 1930s Art Deco -- and the desserts are terrific.

It's also a great place to stop for breakfast if you're driving from Orlando to visit Busch Gardens Tampa.

Thanks for mentioning this resturant. I think we'll pass it when we drive from TPA to Orlando. Sounds like a good place to grab a bite.
