Hi everyone.
We have booked a villa at Lindfields in August, but fancy a couple of days relaxing at the beach. White sand and clear blue sea are what we want within a couple of hours from Orlando. Hope you can help.
Thanks in advance

Hi Paul,

Personally prefer the west coast, Clearwater and St.Petes are just under a 2 hour drive and the beaches fabulous.
Much nicer then the likes of Cocoa and Daytona - in my opinion.

Have taken day trips to CW/SP but never actually stayed there, however I know people who stayed at the 'Marriott Suites Clearwater Beach on Sand Key' and they really liked it there.
It is one of the top rated hotels on 'Tripadvisor' in the area also.

Thanks Johnny, was considering CW but heard it was a bit lively, would like to stay somewhere really quiet. Looking forward to trying that takeout at the Outback by the way, my son also doesn't like restaurants.

:)

Know what you mean about son's and restaurants - mine doesn't like them at all.
I wouldn't say Clearwater was lively Paul, in fact I thought it was quiet - especially compared to the likes of Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

St Petes is the same - I think either are fairly quiet. Also Sarasota and Naples are the quietest places I have been , Naples is too far away but Sarasota may just be within your driving range perhaps?

To be honest we went for 5 days at Sarasota and we were a bit bored.

St Pete Beach is lovely and the Tradewinds Island Grand has one bedroom suites with a small kitchen so you can easily eat in as there is a take away pizza hut on site and Publix is just down the road :)

This is the view we had in 2005 -

We love Disney's Vero Beach Resort (http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/guest/resorts/resortDetail?id=ProspectsVeroBeachResortLandingPag e). It's about an hour and a half's drive from where you are staying and it's right on the beach. We spend our days going from the pool to the ocean to the pool and as it's a Disney resort you get that attention to detail that Disney are good at.

We spend 3-4 days there each year and it's a firm favourite of ours

Hi Paul,

I have posted a smiliar question, because we are having a 'chill out' beach day, on our next visit.:cool1: I was recommended to an island at Clearwater called Caladesi Island

Thanks to castanea1985 for the original tip :thumbsup2

Definitely go with Clearwater (IMHO!!!!) - Sarasota was a long time favourite with us but it seems to have been deserted somewhat and is a fraction of the town it was say 15 years ago. (Although I have to admit I haven't visited for a couple of years now so it might have picked up again) St Petes isn't my favourite I must admit and they both pale in comparison to the Clearwater area for me!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for the replies, they've been a great help. Looks like the CW, St Petes area then, any recommendations for a good hotel on the beach?
Thanks
