I have been given the option to get the Apple iPhone friday. I will be paying for half of this phone and I have been eyeing it since I first heard about it. The thing is this would probably become my ipod.. if this has an ipod in it why use the ipod? I would be getting the 499$ version of the iphone which is the cheapest version. this is 4GB of memory which is a huge difference comapared to my now 30GB iPod. I have plenty of room on my iPod but... thats a big difference. That is like enough room for 1 pirates movie and more then all the music i listen too. What would you do? I wasn't getting the internet until my birthday ( october ) but I was getting text messaging but i just saw there is a data package for existing customers that has 200texts,visual voice mail, and unlimited internet for the same price as unlimited texting so I think my parents my consider it. What would you do? Yes or No on the iPhone? I am a big apple lover if that says anything at all... I am just very confused at this point.. I really want it but at the same time the 4GB compared to 30GB worries me...

I have a 4GB mp3 player.
That holds about 1000 songs.
I don't like that many songs yet, so that wouldn't be a problem for me.
I wouldn't even bother putting a movie on there, it's kind of a waste of space.
But really, if you don't like the idea of the 4GB why don't you just keep your old Ipod in case you don't have enough room?

Thanks.
Any other opinions?
I was really hyped up about the iphone and I am still its just the movies were a big factor to me. I mean I only have around 200 songs on my iPod.. they would all fit no problem.. Then 1 of my pirates movies arggg >_< Then maybe a few episodes of a tv show..

I don't think the iphone is all that impressive actually. It has a lot of features, but it's not worth 500-600 dollars. Besides, it's rarely a good idea to buy a first version of any of these things, and apple will most likely roll out a full screen video ipod this christmas season..that seems fairly logical to me.

I personally would never get the phone because my mp3 player is just fine and I could care less if I could watch movies on my phone. I wouldn't be able to use the internet so the phone would basically be useless for me because alls I'd use it for is calling and texting.
But if you have you heart set on it and really really want it, get one to try it out. :upsidedow

i don't think it's actually worth the money.

I love it, and I've also gotten the option to get it. I don't think I will, though. I already have a great cell phone, camera, computer, and an iPod video.

Part of me really really really wants this phone. Its got cover flow... i love cover flow...big screen video ipod. It has visual voicemail which I sware on life was made just for me. :rotfl: It is a touch screen, it does email, internet, lovely things with pictures... =/
Then another part of me is saying wait... in a few months they will have more GB for the same exact price.

That doesn't sound like an awful idea...
its just i feel so ready to have my life in my pocket.... :lmao:
Would it be a waste to go ahead and get it? Is it a waste to just get the 4GB? It seems like a waste to spend an extra 100 dollars...:confused3

I'd still get the iPhone. I suggest though that you wait until the second or third generation of the iPhone comes out. It'll be faster, have more memory, and probably cheaper. Another plus is that Apple isn't like other companies. They actually put out their next gen stuff within a reasonable time. You won't be waiting like three years.

Maybe by December, or January? Christmas and Birthday. My dad says I could probably get it, but I'd probably want to wait a while, so I figured, might as well be like Christmas.

I personally am waiting a while instead of going and buying it now. There are bound to be bugs, so I'm waiting until they get the majority of them worked out. :)

Wait, and let Apple work all the kinks out.
IMHO, I'd never waste money on it. All I use phones for are texting and calling...and taking pictures. But if somebody decided to buy it for me, then I'd grciously accept it.

Well i did it, I don't regret it one bit. I got an 8GB apple iPhone. There are no bugs of any kind that i have been able to see so far. This phone is in one word Amazing! And in four words, Life in my Pocket! I am selling my video ipod to my best friend who's nano broke because frankly there is no need for it anymore! This ipod is THE BEST ipod out there! The picture on it is AMAZING for videos. Im lovin the special tab for youtube. Ive been able to surf the web just like i regularly do at home when im out somewhere or need to find something quickly. The maps are a nice feature, the satelite images are lovely. Everything on this phone has been VERY easy to work, I have had no issues with it. I Love this phone and am so happy i waited in line for 9 in a half hours to get it. :rotfl: :goodvibes

Glad ya like it :]
IMO I wouldn't ever pay over $80 for a phone. My phone only costed about $50. I find it a waste of money. I only use my phone to talk and to send about 7 messages a month...that's it. But anyways it looks like a cool phone just something I would dream about getting, but never would for the exact reason stated above. :]

I never used my phone for anything but calling before, i didn't even have texting... i still texted some but not alot because it wasn't in our plan because our plan was ancient and my dad refused to upgrade.. Anyways... I was allowed to get the iphone if i paid half of it, I did that. The plan for existing members was 20$ and it included internet, visual voice mail, and 200 texts a month. :cloud9: Its so lovely! I have been dising from my phone! Omg.. it is going to be way to tempting to dis at school... i can contain myself right? :rotfl: The texting is neat, it looks just like ichat on mac computers.. or basically like an aim convo. This phone isn't JUST a phone it is an iphone, in other words it is a mini mac computer, ipod, and phone all put into one! I am happy...

1000.
GB are universally the same.
I've used about half the memory of my MP3, and have 500 songs on there. Around.

I can go on the Dis on my phone. Any phone that has java on it can do it to. http://www.operamini.com/beta/ Works wonderfully. I would never get the iphone. $2000 atleast for the phone. Doesn't work with 64 bit OS's. Battery Life 1/3 the advertised amount. Securuity holes alread found in it many more will soon follow suit. Can only synch things from 1 computer.
If you go to the iphone discussion forums on Apples websites all you see is complaints and problems.

Its the first of its kind, and anything you buy with the first batch you are taking a risk that something will be wrong. I haven't found any issues with mine so far and we are buying the extended warranty when it comes out in July. I really enjoy my new phone... heh my friends do as well. xD And is long as I am getting use out of it I don't see an issue with it. My Ipod only could be hooked up to one computer, its the same thing... I am selling my iPod now because it is so convienient (sp?) to have the iPod right on my phone along with my internet, navigation system, and phone. Oh... and my calender.. now I not only have my iMac blaring at me to remember things I have my iPhone.... Yet I am sure I will still forget things anyways..:rolleyes1
My point is I can't speak for everyone who has the phone, but I certainly know I am happy with mine.

Its not the first of its kinds. 3 or 4 japanese phones have multi touch interfaces. Multitouch interface has been around for 25 years. The problems are not with the technology but the company that is using it.

It is the first of its kind in the apple company. Apple constantly improves what it makes, they sent me a message on itunes asking for information from my iPhone to improve it further. You have your opinion and I have mine.
Like I said.. I haven't had any issues with my iPhone nor with any other apple products that I have ever had. Im perfectly happy with MY iPhone and if other people are having issues with their iPhone they can bring it into the apple store and the apple people will determine if it can be fixed or if it needs to be exchanged. The security issue on the internet is nothing that I have encountered so I can't say much towards it.

Are you going to buy a Zune now because when a problem occurs with it you can send the error to Microsoft?
We are arguing about 2 different things. Youre saying you like the phone and Im saying its a bad phone.

Apple has a mouse that can right click. Having a mouse that doesn't come with right click is the least of Apples worries.

Whenever I would call for Microsoft Help the people over the phone were always rude and never could answer any of my questions. After many many times of having to call in for problems with my microsoft based computers I finally decided to switch over to mac. After switch to Apple I have been able to get help when I need it, I am even able to get help face to face at the genious bar or go to special classes that are free of charge to learn even more about the products I have. I personally think Apple does a great job and I am not saying microsoft or other companies don't do a great job I am just saying they aren't for me personally. :confused3 I like apple and you don't... end of story.
