Hooray! We have been waiting to see others cruising with us! We thought we were going to have a private sailing! :rotfl: Some of us girls who work together are going! We decided to leave our husbands and children home. Exciting but will miss them much! :cool1: We are so excited! :dance3:

One friend of mine has cruised Disney 5 or 6 times. The other has been on two cruise but none Disney and I have been on one cruise but not Disney. I am excited to see some of the "Disney Magic" and of course to meet Jack Sparrow!

You got that right! Hopefully I will see you there. Now if I can only get grumpy (my husband) to get into the spirit! Maybe when time get closer he will! No matter what I am going to have some fun! Since you all are going without the kids, How did you guys pull that off? My kids would not let me do that!

Out of us three that are going I am the only one with children. Mine are 5 and 6 and I have tried to not talk about it to much at home!;) I am in nursing school and my husband thought I should go with the "girls" and take a break for a week! I usually don't go anywhere with out the children or my book bag! :rotfl: I should graduate in a year and a half and we are all going to do the week long as a family!
If your husband doesn't get in the mood before you arrive at the terminal I bet he will when he see's the huge ship in person. I was excited my first cruise but even after looking at all the pictures on the internet I was not prepared for the sight I saw in person. It will be wonderful! :cool1:

Congrats on Nursing School! How exciting! Every mother/wife deserves a girls weekend! I need one bad! I am planning a trip with the girlfriends next year. My youngest is two and I think next year(She will be 3) will be fine to go away without her or the other three kids. My hubby is always a grump. We spent 4 days at disney last week and all he did was complain. I ignored him. His main worry about this trip is 1. Is it to much money? 2. Is he going to be sick? I told him don't worry about it. He will have a good time.

Can he ride the rides at Disney without getting sick? Usually that is a good indicator on how he will handle the ship. Unless for some odd reason the seas's are real rough he won't even be able to feel it. I took Bonine on my first trip but never had to use it! :dance3: My husband is the same way when it comes to planning our family trip. "will it be to much money" I said just book it.. it will always seem like a lot but once you get on that first cruise you will realize it is way worth the money you spend! :woohoo:

I agree with the money thing. But living with a scrooge, its hard to explain. He can rides most of the rides at disney but the coasters and mission apsce he feels a litle nauseous(sp). I am going to try Bonine. I heard there was less side effects then the patch. I normally don't get sick but I want o be safe than sorry. I have built this trip up to be the best trip. I just don't want anything to happen that will ruin it. Are you staying anywhere the day before the cruise? Is there a good hotel around there? We are coming in the day before to make sure that nothing goes wronng (i.e flat tire, car breaking down). I love your picture of the life boat drill. You look sooo happy! Must be that Disney magic!

My first and so far only cruise was on Royal Carribean. They also leave out of Port Canavaral and we stayed at the Raddison. Very nice and convenant. Not sure how affordable b/c at the time we got AAA discount. The good thing was if you stay there, they will let you keep your car at the hotel and they will take you to the cruise and pick you up when you get back. That saves you the per day charge the port charges to park you car there. :goodvibes

This time we are coming down two days in advance and we are staying at Disney and doing Epcott one day before the cruise. Again we got a discount and are staying in a moderate hotel so we got a good rate..

Are you children excited about the cruise?

We went to Disney last week. I had to go to a funeral and since I was down there we stopped by for my two year olds birthday. It was hot and it cost us a lot of money for three days. We stayed at the Pop Century. I like the hotel but it was far from everything even though it was a disney hotel. The buses werent running as often as the other resorts were so the lines were long. Since we were there we don't plan on returning when we go on DCL.

As for my kids, I am not sure. If they are they really are not showing it. I think I am the only one excited about going. I think the closer the date the more excited they will be.

I loved Epcott. Not to many people do. It was not crowded at all. We were able to ride most rides without waiting to long. This was the first time we went on the Nemo ride and my two year old loved it. We rode that one twice.

I am going to look into the raddison. Its a nice hotel. Do they take you to the ship early?

Did you take your kids on R/C cruise?

Thanks for all your help.

The Radisson got us to the ship about 10:45 and were were able to go in the terminal. We were on the actual ship at 11:00 without any wait time and before any real crowds arrived! I was a little worried about them picking us up but they were at the port waiting on us when we got off the boat! :cool1:

It worked very well! I did not take my children on that cruise. It was my first cruise and the first vacation away from home without my family. My husband kept the children which was a miracle but he normally doesn't like to keep them to long without complaing! :rotfl: I went with other family members that time. This time my friend asked me to go and I told her I would mention it to my husband but I really didn't think he would want me to go again alone and I wasn't counting on it.:confused3 When he told me " sure. book it. you deserve it" I thought I was going to fall on the floor! :rotfl:
I have been trying to get my husband to book us a family trip for the past year and a half so he probably told me yes to get me off his back!
Well this time he promised when I graduate nursing school we will book a "family" cruise for the four of us.. I plan on checking out the children areas when I get on the DCL this time!

Hi guys-
I just wanted to check in and say Hi! We're also on the 8/9 Wonder. It will be me, DH and our DDs aged 4 and 6. We're doing 3 nights on DCL and then 3 nights at WDW. This is our 2nd Disney cruise and we're really looking forward to it. I'm glad to see we won't be on the boat alone. Hopefully a few more Disers will check in too.

Only 27 more days!

Just thought I'd bump this back up since we've fallen to page 3!! Maybe someone else will see it and say "Hi." The boat looks sold out, so there's got to be more Disers than just us three!

We didn't book anything for Nassua. I figure we play this one by ear. I haven't booked for Palo, yet? I would like to do a brunch. I booked for parsailing on Castaway Cay and snorkeling.

What about everyone else? Palo, anyone?????

We'll be on the 8/9 Wonder. There will be 12 of us! My parents, my wife and two kids (ages 4 and 2), my sister and her three boys, and my other sister and her daughter. This cruise is a gift from my parents to all of their kids and grandchildren. My oldest nephew unfortunately is in Iraq now and can't come with. I think this is the first cruise for all 12 of us. I'm probably more excited than my wife and kids. My wife doesn't like airplanes or boats! I'll have to check out the door signs because this is the first I've heard of it. I've seen threads about bringing pillowcases or photo mats for character signatures so we plan on doing that. Can some of you repeat cruisers let me know if there are any other activities like these we need to prepare for before the cruise?

You have a two year old too! I bet I will be seeing you by the pool. Buy your wife some Bonine (if she get motion sickeness). It doesn't make you sleepy. This is our first cruise. My husband get alittle motion sickness. We have 4 patches, Bonine and ginger pills. I making sure no one gets sick on this cruise.

I just found the thread on the pillows. They looked pretty good. They bought white pillow shams and different colored sharpies and had all the Disney characters sign them. I thought I would try this one out two.

I could'nt book to many excursions becuase of my two year old. I did book parasailing, snorkeling and stingray at CC. I didn't book anything for Nassau becuase of the two year old. I am not sure what she will be like so we plan on walking the town, going shopping (ya!!!!), going to pirate musuem (for my 9 year old) and thats about it. We will be back on the ship early.

You have such WONDERful parents for giving you this gift. I think it would be a lot more fun with a lot more people going. I hoping to get my family to do this in a few years.

I forgot to ask. Is your two year old a girl or boy?

Jennifer,
Both of our kids are girls. My youngest just had a birthday two days ago so she is actually 3. We will definitely be by the pool for most of the cruise. We haven't booked any excursions and don't plan to either. All of the kids going are just as happy at the beach or pool. I would like to walk around Nassau and see Atlantis, but I don't know if we will have the time. My wife doesn't get motion sickness, she just has a fear of flying or being on big boats. I am the one that gets motion sickness (in the car at least). Reading road signs even makes me nauseous! I've heard of the Bonine and ginger pills so I may try that.

Do you plan on putting your kids in the Oceaneer's Club/Lab or nursery? I thought we would check it out when we get on board and see what it's like. We are both a little nervous (my wife especially) leaving our kids on the ship with strangers. We don't even leave them with a babysitter very often.

I am not sure if I am leaving my children in the clubs either. I have an 18 year old daughter that is our babysitter. I have the same issues as you and your wife have. I do not trust anyone to watch my kids. I rarely go out unless my eldest can babysit. When i went back to work i had a family friend watch my two youngest childrem. Your wife has the same problem as I do. I am afraid of flying. Thats why were are driving down to Florida. We wanted to walk around Atlantis too, but I heard you have to take a water taxi to get to the island which the husband was not happy about. I guess it depends on how we feel that day on what our plans are. Tell your wife not to feel bad. There are people out there just like her. (ME).:flower3:

Hi Rob,
The doors to our rooms on the Disney cruise are magnetic and people make different kinds of fun signs to hang up. There is a thread on here some where but I am a new Dis'r and will have to try and find the link for you unless someone else can post it..
As far as the children I have not taken mine a cruise yet as I was trying to wait until they were old enough to enjoy all of the childrens activities. I have heard nothing but great things about the childrens programs on the boat. I also have heard parents say they didn't take thier childen until the last day and wish they would have gone sooner b/c they had so much fun! I know you will get a pager and if your child ask to leave they will call you immediately. Maybe just try it for an hour and see how it goes!
That is so nice what your father is doing for your family!
I wish our entire family could go together. I bet it will be a wonderful experience
