Hello,
I just wanted to warn you all about how BAD we thought El Pirata y el Perico
was!!

DH and I LOVE Mexican food - right down to Taco Bell. But this was really awful. DD's "quesdillas" were bad, too, and I'd never met a quesadilla I didn't like before. It was a total waste of $$/DDP credit.

If you're in Adventureland and looking for a place to eat, skip that and go around the corner to Pecos Bills.

I was planning on going here in August, but I'll go somewhere else now.

Thanks.

Isn't this place only open seasonally, also? I can never remember it being open when I've gone.

Thats a shame, this was DH and I favorite place but for the last 2 years it has never been open and we go about 3 to 6 times a year

We were there in May and it was GREAT...and a welcomed change of pace from burgers and chicken strips. We ordered the taco salads and used the fixin bar to dress them up as we liked. Everything was fresh and hot....we also enjoyed the beans and rice that came with the taco salads....a much better salad than you would get at say Taco Bell. For future trips I will have to remember that the quesadillas are not too good though.

The last time we ate there it was wonderful. My kids still talk about how good it was. Maybe you had an "OFF" day!

Sorry you didn't like it. We had a great meal there the last week of May. All of our food was good. My boys loved the quesadillas too! I liked the toppings bar, so I could fix my taco salad the way I like it!

Shame that you had such a bad experience.

This used to be one of our favorites, but we also thought it was terrible this past trip in June. We thought the beef in the tacos and my taco salad tasted way to salty and very sparse, which ended up being a good thing. They must be using a different seasoning or something. We did like the rice and bean side, but that was about it. We won't be going back!

I am NOT a picky eater. Neither is hubby, but this place had the ONLY food we've ever experienced in WDW that was so bad it was inedible.

Can't disagree with the OP-ate here last year and it was pretty nasty. And I love Mexican food. Our family basically ate at Pecos Bill's every day. I thought I would try something a little different since it's in the same building. Bad idea-yuck! Oh well, at least the lines were shorter than Pecos Bill's....now I know why!

When is this place open? It was closed during both our May 2006 and Feb 2007 trips. We were wondering if it would be open in Nov - were thinking about eating there for a change of pace from the usual burgers and chicken strips...but maybe not given some of the comments:scared:

I'm sorry you had a bad experience! We loved the food when we ate there in December. The fixin's bar was great! I'm hoping that you just went on an off day because I'm looking forward to going back next June.
