We have reservations for Jekyll Island after we leave Fort Wilderness...kind of our post WDW come down.
We've never been to Georgia and pretty clueless about Jekyll. We wanted a park on the Atlantic Ocean. We've stayed many times on the gulf side of Florida. If needed, can PM me with info, recommendations or warnings. I don't want to take the boards off topic too long but know y'all are the best with the inside info.

We almost always stay a few days somewhere along the East Coast on our way home in the Spring after a lon stay at the Fort, and Jeckyll Island campground is our absolute favorite. Complete change of pace from Disney, but very beautiful, peaceful, and enjoyable. You'll be pleased. Another stop for the future just before crossing the border into Georgia is Amelia Island State Park in Florida.

We usually stop at Jekyll Island on our trip down to WDW. The campground is nice and quiet. (during the winter anyway) Bring something to cover your car/Rv mirrors. They have woodpeckers that just love working on them! Bikes are a great way of getting around on the island. If you dont have any with you the campground rents them. Its around 1-2 miles to the public beaches. The beaches do have parking if you want to drive. Be aware that the grassy area here has some kind of thorn/pickers. We never saw them until our dogs started limping and we had to pull dozens of them out of their paws. Enoy your stay:thumbsup2
